Chef Ajay Chopra returns with new recipes on Northen Flavours 2 on Living Foodz

Taking viewers into a bygone era, Chef Ajay Chopra will soon explore the forgotten delicacies of north India in the second season of the show, that launches on Living Foodz.

Following the success of the first season, where chef Ajay recreated favourite dishes from the region in innovative styles, ‘Northern Flavours’ is back to entertain, educate and enthrall millions across the world. The show will explore north Indian food from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Delhi.

“I thoroughly enjoyed hosting the first season of Northern Flavours and the overwhelming response from viewers. As a true-blue Punjabi, I had a great time researching about dishes that are centuries old. It was truly fascinating to learn about the myriad global influences on the cuisine of Northern India – from the Mongols of Central Asia to the Chinese, as a part of the Silk Route.”

“Deeply influenced by martial traditions and travel, it was an overwhelming and enriching experience. All these diverse traditions have been preserved by cooks and homemakers over centuries. I look forward to bringing the earthy flavours from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Delhi to viewers, with a ‘double tadka’,” says Chopra.

“With the success received when we introduced Northern Flavours last year, the second season of the show brings to viewers an amalgamation of the flavours of north India by the brilliant and affable host, Chef Ajay Chopra. In this season, we dig into the various food confluence across North India, which took place digging out stories and folklore behind every recipe. We have covered cuisines from Ladakh to Jharkand and celebrated the northern region’s forgotten recipes in the most authentic way,” says Amit Nair, Business Head, Living Foodz.

North Indian cuisine, though characterised by a lot of regional variety, has come to become loved by Indians, with dishes like butter chicken, tandoori kebabs, and dal makhani, among others, attaining national fame.

On the show, Chef Ajay revisits various cooking techniques of curating dishes like Modur Polav, Kalari Kulcha, Potato Curry Puffs, Kabuli, and Bhuna Gosht, and brings them to life in his kitchen, using the same techniques and traditional ingredients.

The show is interspersed with interesting anecdotes by Chef Ajay Chopra behind the revolutionised delicacies of north India. For example, north India has been a gateway for travellers, scholars and warriors and has become the perfect amalgamation and breeding ground for the various food cultures of the nation. Northern Flavours aims at discovering this fusion of cultures, which has culminated beautifully, over time.

Northern Flavours Season 2, produced by Greed Goddess Media, rediscovers the culinary secrets of authentic north Indian cuisine. The production house has travelled across the country to unearth and curate unique recipes for the show.
