Mahua Moitra

Will Not Get Back Down, Says Mahua’s Advocate

After alleging that former Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra was conducting surveillance against him, Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, says that he has filed his complaint with the CBI and will not back down.

Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai was also the complainant in the alleged ‘Cash for Query’ case which led to the suspension of Mahua Moitra from Parliaments.

Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai said, “I have given my complaint to CBI. This is a very serious issue and there are people from Odisha who are financing and supporting those against whom I have filed a complaint (to CBI). This fight is a bit dangerous but I will not back down. “

Earlier, Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai on Tuesday alleged that TMC leader Mahua Moitra is carrying out “illegal surveillance on him with her contacts in West Bengal police”.

In a letter written to CBI Director Praveen Sood and Union Home Minister Amit Shah dated December 29, Advocate Dehadrai said that there might be a possibility that the TMC leader is “tracking” his physical location by using his phone number.

Dehadrai in his letter, also alleged, “Moitra has a demonstrated history of misusing her clout and connections with certain Senior Officers of Bengal Police to obtain the Call Detail Records (CDR) of private individuals to satisfy her desire to stalk the precise whereabouts of certain individuals as also the details of the individuals they are in touch with.”

Advocate Dehadrai also stated in his complaint that earlier, the TMC leader was actively “tracking a person named Suhaan Mukerji in 2019”.

“Moitra informed me orally on multiple occasions in the past as also in writing (on WhatsApp on 26.09.2019) that she had been actively tracking her ex-boyfriend, one Suhaan Mukerji as she suspected him of being in a relationship with a German lady,” the letter read.

Jai Anant Dehadrai further alleged that Moitra, with the assistance of “Senior Bengal Police Officers”, had the entire call records and history of Mukerji’s phone in which she had precise information about the individuals who had been “in contact with Mukerji as also the precise physical location of Mukerji’s phone for all hours of the day”.

The Advocate also stated that Mahua Moitra has made several threats to him in the past and also said that on several occasions he felt that his car was being followed outside his residence in Delhi.

Responding to the allegations made in the complaint, Mahua Moitra in her post on X, urged the Home Ministry to appoint a Special Director in the CBI for complaints by ‘jilted exes’ all over India.

“Urging MHA to set up a special Director CBI to probe all complaints by loser jilted exes pan India. Gratified to see Shahenshah of all Peeping Toms cc’d on the complaint. – he honed his surveillance skills covering up for his Sahib in Gujarat and can supervise CBI,” she said in a post on X.

Moitra, facing cash for query allegations, was expelled from the Lok Sabha after the Parliament adopted the report of its Ethics Committee, which was probing the matter. Moitra said that the Ethics Committee, without getting to the root of the investigation, decided to hang her. (ANI)

Amanatullah Khan

Amanatullah’s Properties Searched In PMLA Case

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has conducted search operations at 13 locations in Delhi linked to Aam Aadmi Party legislator Amanatullah Khan, and his associates under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA).

The searches were conducted on Tuesday in the case related to the illegal recruitment of staff in the Delhi Wakf Board and illegal personal gains by way of unfairly leasing out its properties during the chairmanship by Amanatullah Khan during 2018-2022, ED said in a press release.

ED initiated an investigation on the basis of an FIR registered by the CBI under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and the Indian Penal Code, 1860.

“Further three (03) more FIRs registered by Delhi Police are under investigation by ED as the role of Amanatullah Khan and his associates came into light,” the ED said.

ED alleged that its investigation revealed that Amanatullah Khan has acquired “huge” proceeds of crime out of the said criminal activities in cash and this cash amount was invested in the purchase of various immovable properties in Delhi in the name of his associates.

During the search proceedings at these premises, ED alleged that several incriminating records and evidence in the form of physical and digital evidence had been seized which indicate the role of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, in the offence of money laundering.

Earlier Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenged PM Narendra Modi to prove that AAP leaders were involved in any scams.

“The raid on Amanatullah yesterday is a part of Modi ji’s plan to end AAP. Kejriwal has committed a bus scam, road scam and electricity scam, I am challenging Modi ji to show proof. All these investigations that are going on are fake and their purpose is not to end corruption. Their aim is only to harass the opposition. Modi ji has become very arrogant. When the king of a country becomes so arrogant, then how can that country progress?” said Kejriwal.

Speaking on the raids on his residence, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan said that the ED didn’t show any FIR on the basis of which the raids were conducted.

“They did not show me any FIR copy, they just said that we have come to search the house in a 2016 case in which I am already out on bail. They were at my house for 12 hours. My mother has breathing problems and was given a nebulizer 3-4 times. Everyone was troubled but these people did not agree,” Amanatullah Khan said.

The raids at the premises of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan came close on the heels of the arrest of fellow AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in connection with the Delhi excise policy ‘scam’. (ANI)

Opposition bloc INDIA Kejriwal

95% Cases Registered By CBI, ED Are Against Opposition: Raghav

Alleging that central agencies are silent in the BJP-ruled states, Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha added that 95 per cent of the cases registered by the CBI and ED are against politicians of the opposition.

Addressing a news conference here, on Tuesday, the AAP leader said, “In BJP-ruled states agencies are silent and in non-BJP-ruled states agencies are violent. From 2004 to 2014, when there was a UPA Govt in power, ED raided only 112 locations. But from 2014 to 2023, ED raided 3100 locations.”

He further said that the BJP has a special love for AAP, they have jailed several leaders in false cases.

“95 per cent of the cases registered by CBI and ED are against politicians of the Opposition. They have a special love for AAP, they have jailed several of our leaders in false cases…This will be done by only those people who are scared of the INDIA alliance,” he added.

Chadha asserted that the AAP is a party that doesn’t get scared of the agencies’ attacks.

“AAP is a party that doesn’t get scared of the attacks of agencies. Truth and honesty are on the side of AAP and we will fight till the end. BJP may make thousands of attempts and jail whichever AAP leader they want under any false case – in the end, truth, honesty, Arvind Kejriwal and AAP will win. As the Lok Sabha elections approach, attacks by agencies and a nervous BJP will increase,” he added.

Earlier, Sanjay Singh was arrested on October 4, after a day-long questioning by the ED officials at his Delhi residence.

Later, on October 5, the Court sent Sanjay Singh to remand till October 10, 2023, in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

Meanwhile today, the Rouse Avenue Court here extended the Enforcement Directorate custody of Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh till October 13 in connection with the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy case.

Allegedly, Sanjay Singh’s party colleague and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is also involved in the same liquor policy scam. He is currently lodged in jail in connection with the same. The former Delhi Deputy CM and excise minister was first arrested by the CBI on February 26 for his alleged role in the scam.

The case connects with claims that Singh and his partners played a part in the Delhi government’s decision to give licenses to alcohol shops and merchants in 2020, causing losses to the state exchequer and violating anti-corruption laws. (ANI)

Sanjay Singh

Sanjay To Be Produced Before Court By ED

Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi liquor policy case on Wednesday, will be produced shortly before the Rouse Avenue Court by the ED officials.

Sanjay Singh’s father Dinesh Singh has also arrived at the Rouse Avenue Court.

Sanjay Singh was taken into custody after a day-long interrogation by ED officials at his Delhi residence. He was later brought to the ED office on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, AAP workers and supporters who were protesting the arrest of AAP MP Sanjay Singh were detained by the police in Mumbai.

The Aam Aadmi party has been protesting in several parts of India after the arrest of Sanjay Singh. AAP workers staged a protest in the national capital at the Aam Aadmi Party office and demanded his release.

Several senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party including Atishi, and Reena Gupta raised slogans against the BJP and demanded the release of AAP leader Sanjay Singh.

Special CP Law and Order Dependra Pathak said, “It is a protest by the Aam Aadmi Party. The crowd is gathering gradually. Police are present here to maintain the law and order professionally. We are in communication with the organisers. We will make sure that law and order are maintained. We will try to contain the protestors.”

Speaking on Sanjay Singh’s arrest and the raids by Central agencies, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai targeted the BJP and said “This is going to continue till the 2024 elections unless the BJP loses”.

AAP workers earlier staged a massive protest in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow over the ED raids conducted at Sanjay Singh’s residence.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal condemned Singh’s arrest stating, “The arrest of Sanjay Singh is completely illegal. This shows Modi ji’s nervousness. They will arrest many more opposition leaders till the elections”.

Also, the AAP MP’s arrest triggered sharp reactions from the leaders of the INDIA alliance.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Manoj Jha said, “It is not the ED that has arrested Sanjay Singh, he has been arrested by the unit of BJP that comprises ED-IT-CBI. Dark days have begun…In this era of dictatorship, jo dar gaya wo mar gaya. The dictators themselves are scared. This fear will be retaliated against soon”.

Notably, Sanjay Singh is the third prominent leader of the AAP, after Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, to be arrested by a central agency. (ANI)

Union Minister Tomar on Sanjay

Law Will Take Its Course: Union Min Tomar On Sanjay’s Arrest

Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar slammed the opposition over the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi liquor policy case and said that the law will take its course against those who indulge in corruption.

Speaking to the Media, Tomar said, “The law will take its course against those who indulge in corruption. PM Modi said that I will neither eat nor allow anyone to eat. Dishonest people should be more careful. Corruption is involved and that is why the CBI and ED have swung into action. ED and CBI get paid to work against dishonest people.”

The arrest of Sanjay Singh is the second high-profile arrest in the case after former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.

The federal agency on Wednesday morning raided the residence of AAP leader Sanjay Singh in connection with the now-cancelled liquor excise policy in the national capital. The development followed closely on the heels of the ED’s raid on the premises belonging to two of Sanjay Singh’s close aides in the same context.

The case connects with claims that Singh and his partners played a part in the Delhi government’s decision to give licenses to alcohol shops and merchants in 2020, causing losses to the state exchequer and violating anti-corruption laws.

The AAP is also set to hold a protest outside the BJP headquarters on Thursday opposing Singh’s arrest. (ANI)

CBI Kejriwal's Residence

CBI Registers Preliminary Enquiry To Probe Irregularities In Construction Of Kejriwal’s Residence

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a preliminary enquiry to probe the alleged irregularities in the construction and renovation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence here, the CBI sources said.

The BJP has alleged that around Rs 45 crore was spent on the “renovation” of Kejriwal’s official residence – 6, Flagstaff Road – in the Civil Lines area of the city.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lambasted the BJP for the CBI’s move.

“The BJP is leaving no stone unturned in finishing off the Aam Aadmi Party. Today, there is only the AAP seeking votes on the basis of work done in the field of health and education. However, the BJP does not want the poor to receive the best education and healthcare services. This will lead to the defeat of the BJP’s religion and caste-based politics,” the AAP said in a statement.

“This was the reason why the country’s best Education Minister, Manish Sisodia, and best Health Minister, Satyendra Jain was put behind bars. Now, all the central agencies have been deployed to take on Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal. However, the blessings and love of Delhi’s two crore people lie with CM Kejriwal. Till now, they (central government) have registered more than 50 cases against him. Nothing came out in any of them, nothing will come out in this either,” the AAP said.

Attacking the BJP, the AAP further added, “No matter how many investigations the BJP gets conducted against CM Kejriwal, he will continue to raise his voice for common men. He is ready to pay the price for making the country achieve the position of the world’s number one nation”.

Earlier this year, the Directorate of Vigilance issued show-cause notices to Public Works Department (PWD) officials in connection with the alleged expenditure on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.

In April, hundreds of BJP leaders and workers staged a massive demonstration against Kejriwal.

“It is questionable that a person who claims to be ‘Kattar Imaandar’ spends 45 crores rupees on the renovation of the official residence. He spent 11 cr on his wardrobe, obviously, questions will be raised,” BJP leader Harish Khurana had said. (ANI)

The Special Judge Geetanjali Goel took cognizance of a fresh chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and issued summons against all accused.

According to the CBI, this is the second chargesheet in the designated court against 17 accused including the then Union Minister of Railways, his wife, son, then GM of West Central Railways(WCR), then two CPOs of WCR, private persons, private company, etc. in a case related to Land for Job Scam.

Recently, the CBI has filed a chargesheet in the alleged Land for Job scam case against Lalu Prasad Yadav including his son Tejashwi Yadav and others.

CBI had registered a case on May 18, 2022, against Lalu Yadav and others including his wife, two daughters, unknown Public servants and private persons.

It was alleged that the then Union Minister of Railways during the period 2004-2009 had obtained pecuniary advantages in the form of transfer of landed property in the name of his family members etc. in lieu of appointment of Substitutes in Group “D” Post in different Zones of Railways. It was further alleged that in lieu thereof the substitutes, who were residents of Patna themselves or through their family members sold & gifted their land situated at Patna in favour of the family members of said Minister and a private company controlled by his family members, which was also involved in transfer of such immovable properties in the name of said family members.

It was also alleged that no advertisement or any public notice was issued for such appointments of substitutes in Zonal Railways, yet the appointees who were residents of Patna were appointed as substitutes in different Zonal Railways located at Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hazipur.

Searches were earlier conducted at multiple places including in Delhi & Bihar etc, said CBI.

“During the investigation, it was found that then Union Minister of Railways with intent to acquire the land parcels situated at the places where his family was already owning land parcels or the places which were already connected to him entered into conspiracy with associates and family members and allegedly derived a design to grab the land of various land owners by offering /providing group D employment in Railways,” CBI said.

The accused had allegedly collected applications and documents of such candidates through associates and then sent those to West Central Railway for processing and providing jobs in Railways and the General Managers of West Central Railways under the influence /control of the accused accorded approval for engagement of candidates, the CBI further said.

The CBI said that for providing jobs in Railways, they allegedly devised an indirect way wherein the candidates were engaged firstly as substitutes and subsequently, were regularized.

“A hard disk containing lists of candidates (who were engaged) was also recovered during searches. It was further alleged that a land parcel was purchased in the name of a private company at Rs.10.83 Lakh in 2007 and subsequently, the said land along with some other land parcels purchased by the said company, were brought into the ownership/control of his wife and son of then Union Minister of Railways by way of transfer of shares at Rs. One Lakh only,” the CBI said.

The CBI further said that at the time of transfer, the company was allegedly owning land parcels purchased at a total cost of Rs 1.77 crore (approx) and it was transferred for a mere Rs.1 Lakh (approx) only, however, the market value of the lands was much more.

Earlier, a chargesheet was filed on October 7, 2022 against 16 accused. The investigation is continuing, CBI informed the Court. (ANI)
