Rahul On T-shirt Row

Thand Se Dar Nahi Lagta, Says Rahul On T-shirt Row

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday tackled the “T-shirt” controversy that appears to have taken the centre stage after he marched into Delhi borders on December 24 leading his Bharat Jodo Yatra with just a white T-shirt and trousers amid severe cold conditions.

Speaking to the media, the Congress MP gave an amusing response when quizzed on his winter woolen choices as the national capital saw mercury hover between 7 and 4 degrees Celsius over the past week.
In a light-hearted conversation with reporters, the Wayanad MP said that he is thinking of wearing a sweater once he starts feeling cold.

While addressing the press conference, Rahul Gandhi said, “Why is there so much hullabaloo over a T-shirt? I do not wear a sweater because I am not scared of winter. I am thinking of wearing a sweater once I start feeling cold.”

It is not like only social media users and others have raised the T-shirt issue, but several videos doing rounds have purportedly shown his mother and former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi questioning him on his winter wardrobe.

Rahul Gandhi also said he considers the Bharatiya Janata Party as his “guru” (teacher) as the BJP shows him a roadmap and teaches him “what should never be done”.

Addressing a press conference, the Wayanad MP said, “I want them (BJP) to attack us aggressively, this will help the Congress party understand its ideology. I consider them (BJP) as my Guru, they are showing me the way and training me on what is not to be done.”

While talking about the Bharat Jodo Yatra which entered New Delhi on December 24 before taking a nine-day break, he said, “When I started this, I just took it as an ordinary yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Slowly we understood that this yatra has a voice & feelings.”

“The doors of Bharat Jodo Yatra are open for everyone, we are not going to stop anyone from joining us. Akhilesh ji, Mayawati ji, and others want “Mohabbat ka Hindustan”,” he said in an open invite to the other parties of the opposition ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Rahul Gandhi’s mass contacting campaign, Bharat Jodo Yatra, was issued cautionary notes by the Centre amid a rise in COVID-19 cases across neighboring countries.

So far, the Yatra, which started from Kanyakumari on September 7, has covered parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, and Haryana.

It is the longest march on foot by any Indian politician in the history of India, the Congress has claimed.

With this yatra, Rahul Gandhi aims to mobilize the party cadre and unite the general public against the BJP’s “divisive politics in the country”. (ANI)

Rahul Violated Security Guidelines On 113 Occasions During Bharat Jodo: CRPF

A day after Congress wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah alleging breaches in the security of Rahul Gandhi, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) said the Congress leader violated security guidelines on 113 occasions since 2020 including in the Delhi leg of the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The force has also said that it would be taking up this matter separately.
The CRPF’s reply was sent late at night on Wednesday after the Congress shot off a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah alleging that the security of its leader Rahul Gandhi was compromised during Bharat Jodo Yatra in the national capital and the accusing it of “completely” failing to control the surging crowd and maintaining a perimeter around the Z+ category protectee.

“It is pointed out that on several occasions violations of laid down guidelines on the part of Shri Rahul Gandhi have been observed and this fact has been communicated to him from time to time,” sources mentioned the points in reply by CRPF to Congress National General Secretary KC Venugopal.

“For instance, since 2020, there have been 113 violations observed and duly communicated. It may further be mentioned that during the Delhi leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra, the protectee has violated security guidelines and CRPF will be taking up this matter separately.”

The force said, “the security arrangements have been fully made for Mr. Rahul Gandhi as per the guidelines”.

“It may be pointed out that during visits of the protectee the required security arrangements are made by the CRPF in coordination with state police and security agencies as per guidelines.

“Advisories based on threat assessment have been issued by the MHA to all stakeholders concerned including the state governments. Advance Security Liaison (ASL) is also undertaken for every visit,” said the CRPF.

The Delhi leg of Bharat Jodo Padyatra for December 23, 2022, ASL involving all stakeholders was conducted on December 22, 2022, said the CRPF, adding “all security guidelines have been strictly followed and Delhi Police has informed that sufficient deployment of security personnel was made”.

Security arrangements made for the protectee work fine when the protectee himself adheres to the security guidelines laid down, the CRPF further added in its reply. (ANI)

Kharge Rahul Gandhi

BJP Has Huge Washing Machine: Kharge

Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said the ruling party at the Centre has a “huge washing machine” that can clean even the “biggest stains”.

During an event celebrating the 138th Foundation Day of Congress, the party chief said, “BJP has a huge washing machine that can clean even the biggest stains. When people are put into this machine they come out clean. We all have to fight together to save democracy. It is a government of liars at the Centre.”
Referring to the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Kharge said the mass outreach march was an attempt to counter the “hatemongering” by the BJP.

“Bharat Jodo Yatra is an attempt to fight against the atmosphere of hate being created by them (BJP) in the country. A notice was sent to Rahul Gandhi telling him that such events should not be held due to COVID-19 but Prime Minister is attending many public events,” added Kharge.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Congress chief targeted the BJP government during his address at the party headquarters in New Delhi and said the basic principles of India are being constantly attacked.

He said that society is being divided by hate, people are hit by price rises and unemployment but the government is not bothered.

“The basic principles of India are under constant attack. A pit of hatred is being dug all over the country. People are in trouble due to inflation, unemployment but the government does not care,” Kharge said.

He further appealed to people to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Indian National congress was founded on December 28, 1885, in Bombay (Mumbai). Every year on December 28, the party celebrates its foundation day.

Notably, Congress has got a non-Gandhi president after 24 years. In 1998, Sonia Gandhi was made congress president and in 2017 Rahul Gandhi was elected as the party chief but he resigned from the post after the poll debacle in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. (ANI)

China, Pak Are One Now, If There’s War It Will Be Against Both: Rahul

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said that China and Pakistan are preparing together and if there is a war, then it will be against both countries.

In a YouTube video on Rahul Gandhi’s channel, while interacting with Armed Forces veterans during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Congress MP said, “China and Pakistan have come together, if there will be any war then it will happen with both, so there will be a major loss for the country. India is now extremely vulnerable. I don’t just have respect for you (Army) but also love and affection for you. You defend this nation. This nation would not exist without you.”

The Congress leader explained, “Earlier we had two enemies China and Pakistan and our policy was to keep them separate. First, it was said that two front war should not happen then people say there is two and a half-front war going on, that is, Pakistan, China, and terrorism. Today there is one front that is China and Pakistan which are together. If the war happens it will happen with both. They are working together not only militarily but also economically.”

Criticizing the Central government over its policies, Rahul Gandhi said, “Our economic system has slowed down after 2014. In our country, there is disturbance, fighting, confusion, and hatred. Our mindset is still that of two and a half-front war. Our mindset is not of joint operability and of cyber warfare. India is now extremely vulnerable. China and Pakistan are both preparing a surprise for us, which is why I keep repeating that the government cannot keep quiet. What happened at the border the government should tell people of the country. What action do we have to take we have to start today? Actually, we had to act five years ago but we did not do it. If we don’t act fast, then there will be a big loss. I am extremely concerned with what is happening at the border in Arunachal and Ladakh,” he added.

On December 13, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh informed the Rajya Sabha that China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops tried to transgress the Line of Actual Control in the Yangtse area of Arunachal Pradesh Tawang Sector and unilaterally change the status quo but they went back to their locations due to timely intervention of Indian military commanders.

Giving a statement in the Rajya Sabha, the Defence Minister assured the Upper House that “our forces are committed to protecting our territorial integrity and will continue to thwart any attempt made on it”.

Singh also displayed confidence that “this entire House will stand united in supporting our soldiers in the brave effort.”

Explaining the incident, the Minister said: “I would like to brief this august House about an incident on our border in the Tawang Sector of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9, 2022.”

“On December 9, 2022, PLA troops tried to transgress the LAC in the Yangtse area of Tawang Sector and unilaterally change the status quo. The Chinese attempt was contested by our troops in a firm and resolute manner. The ensuing face-off led to a physical scuffle in which the Indian Army bravely prevented the PLA from transgressing into our territory and compelled them to return to their posts,” said Singh.

He further said “the scuffle led to injuries to a few personnel on both sides”, and clarified that “there are no fatalities or serious casualties on our side”.

“Due to the timely intervention of Indian military commanders, PLA soldiers went back to their locations,” Singh said.

As a follow-up of the incident, the Minister further said, the local commander in the area held a “flag meeting with his counterpart on December 11, 2022, to discuss the issue in accordance with established mechanisms”.

“The Chinese side was asked to refrain from such actions and maintain peace and tranquillity along the border. The issue has also been taken up with the Chinese side through diplomatic channels,” Singh said.

The Minister also assured the House that “our forces are committed to protecting our territorial integrity and will continue to thwart any attempt made on it”.

“I am confident that this entire House will stand united in supporting our soldiers in their brave effort,” the Minister added.

The clash near Yangtse along the LAC in the sensitive sector took place last Friday amid the over 30-month border standoff between the two sides in eastern Ladakh. (ANI)

The foot march crossed into Delhi from Haryana after starting the padayatra from NHPC metro station, Faridabad around 6 am.
The Yatra’s flag transfer ceremony took place near Badarpur metro station. “Some people are spreading hatred but the common man of the country is now talking about love. In every state, lakhs have joined the yatra. I’ve said to people of RSS-BJP that we’re here to open the shop of love in your ‘bazaar’ of hatred,” Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said soon after reaching Delhi.

Bharat Jodo Yatra is scheduled to reach the Red Fort around 4:30 pm. The Yatra will also visit Rajghat and pay tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

The yatra has been issued cautionary notes by the Centre amid a rise in Covid cases across the country.

“Gandhi Family Likes Such Language..” Smriti Over ‘Indecent Remarks’

After Congress leader Ajay Rai stoked fresh controversy over his “latke-jhatke” remark about Smriti Irani, the Union Minister on Tuesday asked if such “indecent” statements are made to “please” the Gandhi family.

The Minister said that such “abuses” reveal the “true character” of the Gandhi family, in the presence of which many of the “foul” statements were made.
Irani’s remarks came after Congress leader Ajay Rai, Uttar Pradesh party chief, said that Irani comes to her constituency Amethi only to do “latke-jhatke” and goes away.

Speaking to ANI, Irani asked why is it that the Congress leaders feel that using such language will “please” the top leadership of the party.

“Using inappropriate words for the Army, making derogatory remarks against a woman representative who has defeated their party president, and calling common Indians who were a part of the freedom struggle a “dog”, why do the Congress leaders feel that by using such indecent language, the Gandhi family will be pleased?” she said.

Further inquiring if the Gandhi family encourages such behavior of its leaders, Irani said that the remarks reveal their “true character”.

“What is the culture which the Gandhi family has certified in Congress? Many of the derogatory remarks were made in the presence of the Gandhi family. Is it that the Gandhi family encourages such indecent behavior? The basic question is, will the Gandhi family let you progress if you use such foul abuses? If yes, then this reveals the true character of the Gandhi family. If the Gandhi family likes such language why will leaders apologize?” Irani said.

The Minister said that it is not the culture of India and Varanasi to make derogatory remarks against women.

“I know Banaras, India. In our culture, in our civilization, it is not a matter of our culture to make indecent comments towards women. This may be a mirror of Congress’s political culture, but it is neither Kashi’s culture nor such words that are any description of our politics or cultural and social makeup,” she said.

Earlier on Monday, talking about Irani, who had dethroned Rahul Gandhi from his bastion Amethi in the 2019 elections, giving an unflattering reference to dance moves Rai said, “She only visits the constituency and ‘latke-jhatke dekar chali jaati hain (She does ‘latke jhatke’ and goes away). (ANI)

India, China Border Clash Leads To Political Slugfest, Disrupts Parliament | Lokmarg

India, China Border Clash Leads To Political Slugfest, Disrupts Parliament

India has been witnessing a huge political clash as parties continue to comment on the recent face-off between the Indian Army and Chinese Army in the border region in the Yangtse area of Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang.

A face-off between Indian and Chinese troops in the Tawang sector on December 9 led to minor injuries “to a few personnel” from both sides, sources said on Monday (December 12) and noted that both sides immediately disengaged from the area.
As per reports, the Chinese had come heavily prepared with around 300 soldiers but did not expect the Indian side also to be well prepared. On December 9, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops approached the LAC in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh which was contested by Indian troops in a firm and resolute manner.

Soon after the reports of the clash between the neighbouring countries started circulating, the opposition started questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and also disrupted the Parliament’s Winter Session.

The Winter Session, which is slated to have 17 working days, began on December 7 and faced several adjournments many times as the opposition created a ruckus over the Tawang clash.

On December 13, members of both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha– including Ranjeet Ranjan, Randeep Singh Surjewala, L. Hanumanthaiah, Jebi Mather, Jajani Patil, Nasir Hussain, Manish Tewari, Manoj Kumar Jha and Priyanka Chaturvedi– gave notices under Rule 267 and Rule 176 of the Rules of Procedure for the suspension of business to conduct a discussion on the December 9 clashes between the forces of India and China at the Tawang border.

The MPs had demanded to suspend Zero Hour and relevant rules relating to Question Hour and other businesses of the day to have a discussion on the issue which needs immediate measures to combat such aggression and protect India’s interests along the international border.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha on the day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Indian Army bravely stopped the Chinese PLA troops from encroaching on Indian territory, and forced them to withdraw to their posts.

“On December 9, 2022, PLA troops tried to transgress the LAC in the Yangtse area of the Tawang sector and unilaterally change the status quo. The Chinese attempt was contested by our troops in a firm and resolute manner. The ensuing face-off led to a physical scuffle in which the Indian Army bravely prevented the PLA from transgressing into our territory and compelled them to return to their posts…In this face-off, a few soldiers on both sides suffered injuries. I’d like to tell this House that none of our soldiers died or suffered any serious injury. Due to the timely intervention of Indian military commanders, PLA soldiers have retreated to their own locations,” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in the Lok Sabha.

According to Reuters, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin on the same day (December 13) said that the situation at the India-China border was “generally stable,” after both the troops clashed at the border.

However, on Wednesday (December 14), as many as 17 opposition parties (including Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Aam Aadmi Party, MDMK, Communist Party of India (Marxist), CPI, Janata Dal-United, DMK, Trinamool Congress, and Telugu Desam Party) staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha during ‘Zero Hour’ accusing the government of not holding a discussion over the December 9 clashes along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between the Indian and Chinese forces at the Tawang sector.

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on the day accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of inaction regarding China occupying Indian land in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.

“I had already said they (China) have occupied our land in Ladakh and Arunachal as per a statement given by BJP MP, but the BJP government has done nothing. Our soldiers are beaten up, and they are not allowed to retaliate. This is a sorry state of affairs,” she said.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday hit out at the government and claimed that the Centre has kept people and Parliament in the dark regarding the border situation with China.

“The Modi government has kept the people and the Parliament in the dark. Why is it scared of the truth about China coming out? What is Modi’s interest in hiding the facts about Chinese aggression?” tweeted Owaisi and attached a snippet of a news article regarding “Chinese aggression” along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.

Congress MP Manish Tewari on December 15 asked the government for a detailed discussion over the border situation between India and China and said: “China has, in the meantime, reportedly built substantial military infrastructure all across the Line of Actual Control. China is unwilling to restore the status quo ante in Ladakh, a situation that puts India at a massive disadvantage. This House has spent no time discussing this crucial issue. I urge the Government to take this matter with utmost seriousness and have a detailed discussion in Parliament with regard to the border situation with China. I, hereby, request permission to raise this matter,” he added.

On Friday also, Tewari gave an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha to discuss the situation at the border with China.

“I hereby give notice of my intention to ask for leave to move a motion for the adjournment of the business of the house for the purpose of discussing a definite matter of urgent importance, namely:- That this House do suspend Zero Hour and relevant rules relating to Question Hour and other businesses of the day to have a detailed discussion on the grave situation at the border with China in the Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh,” Tewari stated in his letter to Seceretary-General, Lok Sabha.

He had also given an adjournment motion in the Lower House to discuss the “grave situation at the border with China in the Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh”.

The Congress MP asked the government for a detailed discussion over the border situation.

Urging PM Modi and the government to make a statement on the Tawang issue, Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala gave a Suspension of Business Notice under Rule 267 in Rajya Sabha on Thursday to discuss the border situation with China.

Meanwhile, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday also took a dig at the Narendra Modi government in the Centre for trying to dodge a discussion in Parliament over the India-China Tawang clash by using terms like “lal aankh” and “Chinese glasses” in his tweet in Hindi. Kharge’s tweet could roughly be interpreted as “the once glaring eyes of the Modi government have been covered with Chinese glasses”.

Kharge said, “It seems that the ‘red eyes’ of the Modi government are covered with Chinese glasses. Is it not allowed to speak against China in the Indian Parliament?” Kharge had said in his tweet.

On the day, former president of Congress and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi while flagging a “clear threat from China” amid the ongoing border row, claimed that the neighbouring country is “preparing for war” and alleged that the Centre is “hiding and not accepting it”.

“There is a clear threat from China. The government is trying to hide it and ignore it. But that threat cannot be ignored or hidden. China is making offensive preparation on the side of Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. The Indian government is in slumber. It doesn’t want to hear it. China is preparing for war, not for an incursion. If you see the pattern of their weapons, they are preparing for war. Our government is hiding it and is not accepting it,” he said while addressing a press conference in Rajasthan on Friday.

It is pertinent to mention that Rahul Gandhi’s remarks had invited huge backlash as the Centre accused him of “demoralising” the Indian Army and said that “nobody takes him seriously”.

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that “Chinese soldiers are beating up Indian Army personnel in Arunachal Pradesh” have drawn widespread and sharp criticism from several BJP leaders.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda, on Saturday, came down heavily on the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks and said, “No matter how much it is condemned, it is less. Indian army is a symbol of bravery and valour… We also know that he raised questions about the surgical strike and Pulwama. This shows that he doesn’t speak the language of India. He speaks the same language that Pakistan speaks. I condemn such statements, this shows the mentality of Rahul Gandhi toward the country.”

On the Tawang face-off, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command said, “In one of the areas with a differing perception of the LAC, PLA patrol transgressed, was contested very firmly which led to some physical violence but was contained…Border areas along Northern Frontier are stable. We are firmly in control.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that whether it is Galway or Tawang, India’s defence forces have always shown courage and displayed their valour on every occasion.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday took to Twitter and said that the Yangtse area in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang is fully secured.

“Yangtse area in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh is fully secured now due to adequate deployment of the brave jawans of Indian Army,” Rijiju tweeted on Saturday.

However, Congres leader Jairam Ramesh on Saturday alleged that the Prime Minister has met top Chinese leadership an unprecedented 18 times and recently shook hands with Xi Jinping in Bali.

“China launched an incursion into Tawang shortly thereafter and continues to unilaterally alter the border situation. Why are you not taking the nation into confidence?” he asked. (ANI)
