Congress MLA Arif Masood

MP: Cong Frowns As State Govt Curbs Use Of Loudspeakers, Bans Meat

Coming down heavily on the state government over its decision to ban ‘unregulated use of loudspeakers’ in religious and other public places at its first cabinet meeting under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Congress MLA Arif Masood on Thursday said it would have been better had a decision been taken on farmers and jobless people instead.

Speaking to ANI in Bhopal on Thursday, Masood said, “There was nothing new or unexpected about this decision. It would have been better for the state and the people had the Cabinet taken a decision on distressed farmers and jobless people instead. It would have been nice to hear him (CM Mohan Yadav) speak about inflation and steps to control it. We would have welcomed it.”

The Congress MLA added that while the CM quoted a Supreme Court order while announcing the ban on the unchecked use of loudspeakers, the apex court hadn’t imposed any such restrictions.

“The Supreme Court hadn’t imposed any restrictions on the use of loudspeakers, unlike what the CM said. It (use of speakers) should not have been banned at all,” the Congress MLA added.

Meanwhile, another Congress MLA, Atif Aqueel, also responded to the curbs on the use of loudspeakers saying the CM should have rather talked about development.

“It would have been better if the CM had talked about his plans to develop the state. I am of the view that the ban on the (unregulated) use of loudspeakers at religious places should not have happened,” Aqueel said.

On the government’s decision to ban the sale of meat in the open, the Congress MLA said, “I fear that this decision might prompt officials to start making illegal recoveries.”

Soon after assuming office on Wednesday, CM Mohan Yadav ordered a ban on the “unregulated use of loudspeakers” in religious and other public places.

“We took several key discussions during the first Cabinet meeting. We raised the issue of meat sales in the open and have proposed to bring rules to check this,” Yadav said at a press conference in Bhopal on Wednesday.

Guidelines for the use of loudspeakers, based on the orders of the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT), were also issued for immediate implementation, the CM said.

A flying squad will be constituted in each district to monitor the sound levels of loudspeakers and DJ consoles at religious places, the official said. (ANI)

Vivek Ramaswamy

Vivek Ramaswamy Speaks On Universal Values Of Hinduism

Indian-origin and Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy on Thursday responded to a question about wether the US will accept a president of different faith at the CNN town hall.

Starting by saying he respectfully disagrees, Vivek went on to say he is not a ‘fake convert’ and won’t lie to ramp up his political career, “I am a Hindu”. Going on to add, Vivek asserted that Hinduism and Christianity “share the same value set in common”

“If I wanted to map out my political career and really solve for know, I could fake convert. I’m not going to do that. I’m going to tell you about my faith,” he said.

“My upbringing was quite conventional. My parents taught me that marriages are sacred, families are the cornerstone of society, abstinence before marriage is a viable option when things don’t work out, and adultery is wrong. that enjoying life’s pleasures requires giving something up. Are those values not from elsewhere?” the US presidential candidate added.

Ramaswamy emphasised that there is only one true god and highlighted the values of the Hindu religion.

He said, “There’s one true God. Don’t take his name in vain. Observe the Sabbath. Respect your parents. Don’t kill. Don’t lie. Don’t cheat, don’t steal. Don’t commit adultery. Don’t covet. That’s when it hit me. We share the same value set in common. There’s another core teaching in my faith, which is that we don’t get to choose who God works through. God chooses who God works through.”

He added, “Based on my religious beliefs, I understand that every person is here for a reason and it is our moral obligation to fulfill that reason because God lives within each of us, even though God works through us in various ways, we are all equal.”

Ramaswamy once again reiterated his call to ban birthright citizenship for illegal immigrants and asserted saying, “we shouldn’t reward those who violate the law.”

He said, “I say this as the kid of legal immigrants: I favor ending birthright citizenship for those whose parents entered the country illegally because we shouldn’t reward those who violate the law with the intent of exploiting the citizenship rules. The best border policy is to end incentives for illegal migrants to be here. Democrats created them but Republicans aren’t blameless either.”

Earlier this year, Ramaswamy announced his 2024 US presidential election bid.

Ramaswamy is a native of southwest Ohio. His mother was a geriatric psychiatrist and his father worked as an engineer at General Electric. Ramaswamy was born on August 9, 1985, and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.

His parents migrated to the US from Kerala. He is the second Indian-American to enter the 2024 Republican presidential primary after Nikki Haley. He is the fourth Indian-American ever to run for the White House –Bobby Jindal ran in 2016 and Vice President Kamala Harris in 2020. (ANI)

Shri Krishna Janambhoomi Case: Court Approves Survey Of Shahi Idgah Masjid Complex

The Allahabad High Court has given a key decision in the ongoing Shri Krishna Janambhoomi case, after it approved the conduct of a scientific survey on the Shahi Idgah complex at Mathura. The survey will be conducted in the same manner in which it has been done at the Gyanvapi Temple in Varanasi.

The court on Thursday appointed an advocate commissioner and gave in-principle approval for surveying the Shahi Idgah complex. The modalities of the commission of advocates for the survey will be decided on December 18.

“Allahabad HC has allowed our application where we had demanded a survey of (Shahi Idgah Masjid) by the advocate commissioner. The modalities will be decided on Dec 18. The court has rejected the arguments of Shahi Idgah Masjid. My demand was that in Shahi Idgah Masjid there are a lot of signs & symbols of the Hindu temple, and to know the actual position, an advocate commissioner is required. It’s a landmark judgement by the court.” said Vishnu Shankar Jain, the lawyer for the Hindu side.

Earlier on November 16, the Allahbad high court had reserved its order on the application moved by the Hindu side seeking the appointment of a court appointed advocate commissioner. The petitioners had sought the suvey of the Masjid contending that the land was part of the Shri Krishnajanmbhoomi and as such a place of worship for the Hindus. It has also been claimed that Shahi Eidgah Mosque was built on temple land during the reing of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

Earlier the Allahabad High Court on May 26 had transferred to itself all the suits pending before the Mathura Court praying for various reliefs pertaining to the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Eidgah Mosque dispute.

On November 10, the Supreme Court listed the matter relating to Mathura’s Krishna Janambhoomi land dispute for further hearing on January 9, 2024. A bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia listed the matter for January 9. The court said that it appears that the matter would have to be heard and asked both parties to file a short synopsis.

The Committee of Management Trust Shahi Masjid Idgah had filed an appeal in the top court challenging the Allahabad High Court order, which transferred to itself all the petitions relating to Mathura’s Krishna Janambhoomi land dispute from District Court Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the petition, the transfer application was allowed by the high court despite the fact that the proceedings in the suit from which the transfer emanated were stayed by a Coordinate Bench of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad vide Order dated August 3, 2022.

The impugned judgement takes away two appellate stages and also transfers other suits to the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad for which no transfer applications were filed.

So far, nine cases have been filed in Mathura Court in the cases of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah Masjid.

Ranjana Agnihotri, a resident of Lucknow, had filed a suit demanding the ownership of 13.37 acres of land owned by Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi.

In her legal suit, Agnihotri demanded the removal of the Shahi Idgah mosque built in Krishna Janmabhoomi.

The suit filed in the Mathura court sought the removal of a mosque said to have been built in 1669-70 on the orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in the 13.37-acre premises of Katra Keshav Dev temple, near the birthplace of Lord Krishna. (ANI)

Parliament Intruders Associated With ‘Bhagat Singh Fan Club’ Media Page

As sleuths are proceeding with the parliament security breach incident, several details about the key accused are being revealed.

According to Police sources all the accused were associated with the social media page ‘Bhagat Singh Fan Club’. Everyone met in Mysuru about one and a half years ago. Sagar came from Lucknow in July but could not go inside the Parliament House. On December 10, one by one everyone reached Delhi from their respective states. Everyone met near India Gate where colored crackers were distributed to everyone. Police is continuously interrogating them to find out who is the mastermind behind them, as per initial investigation, main conspirator is someone else.

Sagar Sharma, a resident of Lucknow’s Manaknagar area, is said to be inspired by left-wing ideology and use to share and comment on similar posts using two Facebook accounts.

Both Facebook accounts of Sagar have not been active for several months. His Facebook pages revealed that Sagar was also in contact with many people from Kolkata, Rajasthan and Haryana via Facebook.

On the other hand, family members of Sagar have locked their house and gone to an undisclosed location. Sagar’s family includes his father, mother and younger sister. The family originally hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district and has lived here in Lucknow in rented accommodation for almost 20 years.

Himanshu, owner of the electric rickshaw that Sagar used to run, said that “one and a half months ago, he had taken my electric rickshaw on rent. He was a very nice boy and used to take e-rickshaw in morning and bring it out in the evening, just like any other driver. He used to keep himself within his work.”

Ahead of this, Sagar’s family said on Wednesday that Sagar left his home in Lucknow two days ago to take part in a “protest” in Delhi. However, the family said they were unaware of his involvement in the Parliament security breach.

Sagar’s maternal uncle has raised suspension on Sagar being framed in conspiracy and said, “I am shocked that he jumped into parliament; only God knows the truth. He has been pulled into it as per a conspiracy by someone who holds a big position; otherwise, he is a simple boy.”

Anuj Kumar Sharma Sagar’s fellow e-rickshaw driver said, “He also used to drive an e-rickshaw on rent; the boy is very good; he never quarrelled with anyone in the locality; whenever I used to come to the locality, I saw that he came, did his work and went away. He used to come and sit near my house and ask for work.”

On Wednesday, in a major security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, two people–Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D–jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour, released yellow gas from canisters and shouted slogans before being overpowered by the MPs.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police Special Cell has registered a case under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act to probe into the security breech incident, while the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered an inquiry. (ANI)

Stalin Writes To Jaishankar, Urges Release Of 45 Fishermen Held By Lanka

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday wrote to External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar, urging him to take steps for the release of 45 fishermen and 138 fishing boats from Sri Lanka.

On December 13, six more Indian fishermen were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy, in the third such incident in a week, the CM stated in his letter to the EAM.

As many as six Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu, who were fishing in the international waters, were detained by the Sri Lankan Navy along with their trawler, near the Kankesanthurai area in the Emerald Isle on Wednesday.

According to the Sri Lankan Navy, the fishermen were involved in ‘illegal poaching’ and were detained off the Kovilan Lighthouse in Kareinagar in a special operation.

“The Navy continues to conduct regular patrols and operations in Sri Lankan waters to curb illegal fishing practices by foreign fishing trawlers, taking into account the consequences of these practices on the livelihood of local fishermen and marine resources of the country,” read an official release by the Lankan navy.

The six fishermen belonged to the Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu.

Of the six, five fishermen were identified as Naresh (27), Anandababu (25), Ajay (24), Nandakumar (28) and Ajith (26).

However, the sixth person has still not been identified.

Earlier, 25 Indian fishermen, who were fishing in international waters, were detained by the Sri Lankan Navy along with their two trawlers, off Point Pedro town in Sri Lanka on December 9

The 25 fishermen belonged to the Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu and the Karaikal district of Puducherry.

The relatives of the fishermen expressed their concern about the incident and requested both central and state governments to rescue them, along with their two lifeboats.

Last month, 27 Indian fishermen held earlier were released by the Lankan authorities. They returned to the Chennai airport on separate days in sets of 12 and 15.

Earlier, in October, a total of 64 fishermen from Rameshwaram and Mandapam in Tamil Nadu were arrested in three separate batches by the Sri Lankan navy, for alleged cross-border fishing. They were held along with their boats and fishing nets.
