INDI Alliance Made Temples, Festivals Mediums For Looting: Modi

Launching a series of attacks on the INDIA bloc, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that the INDI alliance knows only one thing, that is, to hurt people’s faith and they made temples and festivals a medium for looting.

The Prime Minister said the Sabarimala mismanagement issue due to the sudden surge of pilgrims in December was unfortunate and this is proof of the inability of the state government.

“INDI alliance only knows one thing, INDI alliance keeps hurting our faith, they made our temples and festivals, mediums for loot. The kind of politics that is being played with ‘Thrissur Pooram’ is unfortunate. The kind of mismanagement that has come to light in Sabarimala, devotees are facing a lot of inconvenience. This is the proof of inability of the state government here,” PM Modi said in his address at the ‘Sthree Shakti Modikkoppam’ event at Thekkinkadu in Kerala.

Hitting out at the INDIA bloc, the Prime Minister said that the alliance wants full freedom in Kerala for looting.

“Today in the country, big roads are being made, modern airports are being made but the government of INDI alliance doesn’t let any work happen here because they oppose Modi. INDI alliance wants full freedom in Kerala for looting. Here, the play that is happening due to the gold smuggling is not hidden from anyone,” he said.

“They don’t want anybody to question them regarding the funds that are being received from the Central government for poor people and infrastructure so they try to hinder the schemes by the Central government,” PM Modi said.

Lauding the guarantees given by him, the Prime Minister said, “In the last 10 years, we took a lot of initiatives to make women’s lives easier. We gave 10 crores Ujjwala gas connections, this benefit was received because of Modi’s guarantee. We gave water through a pipe to sisters of 11 crore families. How did this happen, because of Modi’s guarantee”.

Meanwhile, attacking the Left parties and Congress in Kerala, PM Modi alleged that governments led by LDF and UDF in the state considered “nari shakti” as weak and that he had fulfilled his promise to give women their rights with ‘Nari Shakti Adhiniyam’ which is now a law to provide reservation to women in parliament and legislative assemblies.

“After independence, LDF and UDF governments considered ‘Nari Shakti’ as weak… the bill to provide reservation to women in Lok Sabha and assemblies was not passed for long but Modi gave you the guarantee to give you your rights and I fulfilled it…till Congress and Left alliance governments were there in the country, Muslim sisters were suffering because of triple talaq but Modi gave the guarantee to give freedom from it and fulfilled it with sincerity,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi shared the stage with the President of the Indian Olympics Association PT Usha, actor Shobana, singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi and others in Thrissur. (ANI)

Pralhad Joshi Ram Temple

Pralhad Joshi Rejects Politicisation Of Ram Temple Allegation

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Wednesday rejected the allegation of leaders of the Opposition parties that the consecration ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya is being politicised by the BJP.

“Where is the politics?… The trust (Ayodhya Ram Temple trust) has sent out invitations to prominent leaders of all political parties,” Pralhad Joshi told ANI.

The consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple is scheduled for January 22. The temple trust has invited several political leaders cutting across parties and several cultural icons and film stars.

“The trust has sent out invitations to prominent leaders of all political parties… It is not our fault that the Ram Temple is being made in the BJP’s tenure,” the Union Minister added.

PM Modi will attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22.

Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony of Ram Lalla (infant Lord Ram) in Ayodhya will begin on January 16, a week before the main ceremony.

A priest from Varanasi, Lakshmi Kant Dixit, will perform the main rituals of the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla on January 22. From January 14 to January 22, Ayodhya will mark the Amrit Mahautsav.

A 1008 Hundi Mahayagya will also be organised, in which thousands of devotees will be fed. Several tent cities are being erected in Ayodhya to accommodate thousands of devotees, who are expected to arrive in the temple town of Uttar Pradesh for the grand consecration.

Local authorities are gearing up for the anticipated surge in visitors around the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony and are in the process of implementing enhanced security measures and making logistical arrangements to ensure a smooth and spiritually enriching experience for all attendees.

Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to observe a ‘dry day’ on January 22 on the occasion of the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said on Tuesday evening.

While speaking to reporters in the state capital, CM Sai stated that it is a fortune for Chhattisgarh to be the home of the maternal grandparents of Lord Ram, with Chandkhuri being considered their home.

“It is our fortune that Chhattisgarh is the maternal birthplace of Lord Ram, and it is our fortune that the consecration of the Ram temple is going to take place in Ayodhya on January 22. There will be an atmosphere of enthusiasm across the state on that day. Like Diwali, lamps will be lit in homes, and the Chhattisgarh government has decided to declare January 22 as a dry day in the entire state,” the CM said. (ANI)

Rampant Mohammed Siraj SA vs Ind

SA vs Ind, 2nd Test: Siraj Wreaks Havoc On Host Batters

Rampant Mohammed Siraj produced an irresistible spell on day one to crush South Africa’s batting order with his 6-wicket haul to bundle out hosts for 55 in the second Test at the Newlands on Wednesday.

A spell of 6/15 from Siraj in 9 overs absolutely demolished the hosts as they were bundled out for a total of 55. It was his first five-wicket haul in South Africa and third overall. Pacer bagged the crucial wickets of Markram, Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, David Bedingham, the dangerous Marco Jansen and Kyle Verreynne.

The Indian pacer made ball talk after South Africa captain Dean Elgar opted to bat first. In the fourth over, Yashasvi Jaiswal took a brilliant catch at third slip to eliminate Aiden Markram off Siraj’s delivery.

Siraj got the big fish Elgar in the following over as the South African skipper ended up chopping on, and wickets continued to come at regular intervals after that.

Siraj was on a roll at Newlands as the hosts dropped important wickets, including Dean Elgar (4), Aiden Markram (2), and Tony de Zorzi (2). As the Proteas were bowled out for 55 in their first innings, Siraj completed his five-for in the seventh over.

The 29-year-old fast bowler hit a solid length ball around off stump that sprang up. David Bedingham attempted to defend by popping the ball off the bat to the slip, where Jaiswal took a good catch.

A stunning delivery that is both beautiful in form and length. In an attempt to defend, Jansen edged the ball with late movement, resulting in a straightforward catch for KL Rahul.

Siraj’s magical spell was completed with a whole ball outside off. Siraj’s sixth wicket came in his ninth over, when Verreynne attempted to drive and was caught by a second slip off the outside edge.

South Africa lost wickets at frequent intervals after opting to bat first. In addition to Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar each grabbed two wickets.

For South Africa, Kyle Verreynne scored 15 while David Bedingham scored 12.

Brief score: South Africa 55 (Kyle Verreynne 15, David Bedingham 12; Mohammed Siraj 6-15) vs India. (ANI)

Ukraine FM Briefs Jaishankar On Escalating Russian Attacks, Proposes Global Peace Summit

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba apprised his Indian counterpart, S Jaishankar, of the alarming escalation of terror and mass air attacks by Russia in Ukraine.

The two leaders also discussed “cooperation on the Peace Formula”. Ukraine FM Kuleba also shared with Jaishankar, Ukraine’s vision for the Global Peace Summit of leaders.

In response to the escalating situation, both foreign ministers have agreed to convene the first meeting of the India-Ukraine Inter-Governmental Commission since 2018 in the near future. The rejuvenation of this bilateral mechanism is expected to facilitate comprehensive collaboration between the two nations as they navigate the challenges posed by the conflict.

In a recent tweet, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba apprised his Indian counterpart, Dr. S. Jaishankar, of the alarming escalation of terror and mass air attacks by Russia in Ukraine. The tweet, posted on the minister’s official Twitter account, highlighted the devastating impact of these attacks on civilians and infrastructure, prompting urgent discussions on finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.

“My first call in 2024 was with @DrSJaishankar on Ukrainian-Indian relations. I informed my counterpart of Russia’s recent escalation of terror and mass air attacks, which caused civilian suffering and destruction. We discussed further cooperation on the Peace Formula. In this regard, I informed my counterpart of Ukraine’s vision for the Global Peace Summit of leaders,” posted Kuleba on X.

India and Ukraine have witnessed a series of diplomatic engagements, with Jaishankar assuring Kuleba in a phone conversation back in August 2022 that the next consignment of Indian humanitarian assistance would reach Ukraine soon.

The assurance was reiterated in Jaishankar’s tweet, where he stated, “Appreciated the conversation today with FM @DmytroKuleba of Ukraine. Discussed recent developments in the conflict and its continuing global repercussions. Assured that the next consignment of Indian humanitarian assistance will be reaching very soon.”

In November 2022 too, Jaishankar had a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, during which they discussed the grain initiative and nuclear concerns amid the Russia-Ukraine war. Jaishankar tweeted about the meeting, saying, “Pleasure to meet FM @DmytroKuleba of Ukraine. Our discussions covered recent developments in the conflict, the grain initiative and nuclear concerns.”

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has not only raised humanitarian concerns but also global repercussions, prompting nations worldwide to engage in diplomatic efforts to address the escalating crisis.

Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow will intensify attacks on military targets in Ukraine after an unprecedented attack over the weekend on the Russian city of Belgorod.

The attack left 24 people dead and killed over 100 in Belgorod on Saturday. It came after Moscow launched a large-scale attack on Ukrainian cities. (ANI)

Propaganda Of Brij Bhushan: Sakshi On Protests Against Veteran Wrestlers

Former India wrestler and Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik on Wednesday accused the wrestlers protesting against her and other veteran wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia of running propaganda against them for former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh.

Young wrestlers held a protest against veteran grapplers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat on Wednesday, accusing them of putting all wrestling-related activities to a halt and ruining the future of children pursuing the sport.

“I have given years of my life to wrestling and retired recently so you can tell how stressed I am mentally. There is an IT cell of Brij Bhushan on social media. These protestors are his people and running a propaganda for him. Brij Bhushan was making allegations against us earlier too during the protest,” said Sakshi to the media in a press conference.

Sakshi went on to clarify that they did not have any problem with the newly elected federation, except for the president Sanjay Singh. She also went on to say that she welcomes the suspension of newly-elected federation by the Union Sports Ministry.

The wrestler also accused Brij Bhushan of targeting her family.

“We only had a problem with Sanjay Singh. We do not have any problem with the new federation body or the Ad-hoc committee. I request PM Modi ji, and Amit Shah ji to ensure that Sanjay Singh has no involvement in WFI. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure our safety. Brij Bhushan (BJP leader & former WFI chief) is targeting my family,” said Sakshi.

Sakshi said that even though she is retiring, she wants the wrestlers who will play in her 58 kg category to secure a gold or silver in the Paris 2024 Olympics and outdo her bronze medal in the 2016 Olympics.

“I request the ad-hoc committee to hold nationals and camps for U15, U17, U20 categories. No youngster should face any issues,” she added.

Sakshi said that it would be great for women wrestlers if women are given some responsibilities in the federation.

“I cannot say that I will step into administration. But If there are some women in the federation, it would be good for women wrestlers, Women wrestlers will be able to go and express themselves freely,” she said.

The ad hoc committee for the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on Monday announced it would host the National Coaching Camp for Senior Wrestlers in preparation for the forthcoming Asian Olympics qualifying and World qualifying tournament.

Along with this, the committee has scheduled the Senior National Championships for wrestling.

The decision was announced following a press release by the ad hoc committee. The senior National Championships will take place from February 2 to 5 in Jaipur and will be orchestrated by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB).

The tournament will include competitions across senior freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s categories, providing a comprehensive platform for wrestlers to showcase their talent.

After the conclusion of the Senior National Championships, the National Coaching Camp (NCC) will be conducted.

The men’s camp (encompassing Greco-Roman and free style) will be held at SAI NRC Sonepat, while the women’s camp will be held at SAI NSNIS Patiala. The NCC will select medalist wrestlers from 30 weight divisions across the senior freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s categories of the Senior National Championships.

The coaching camp will begin on February 9, 2024, and extend until the Paris Olympics in 2024. The primary focus of the NCC will be rigorous training for the upcoming Olympic qualifying tournaments.

These qualifying tournaments include the 2024 Asian Qualification Tournament set to be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from April 19-21, and the 2024 World Qualification Tournament scheduled for Istanbul, Turkey, from May 9-12, 2024.

Additionally, the NCC will prepare athletes for the Senior Asian Championships, which are slated to take place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from April 11-16, 2024.

The Union Sports Ministry had earlier suspended the sport’s premier governing body in the country along with all its office-bearers, including the newly-elected president Sanjay Singh.

Elon Musk Starlink Direct-To-Phone Satellites

Musk Launches Starlink Direct-To-Phone Satellites

Elon Musk has announced the launch of Starlink Direct-to-Phone satellites.

Musk shared a video on X on Wednesday and wrote, “First launch of Starlink Direct-to-Phone satellites.”

Musk also reshared the ‘SpaceX’ post and wrote, “This will allow for mobile phone connectivity anywhere on Earth. Note, this only supports 7 MB per beam and the beams are very big, so while this is a great solution for locations with no cellular connectivity, it is not meaningfully competitive with existing terrestrial cellular networks.”

“The six @Starlink satellites on this mission with direct-to-cell capability will further global connectivity and help to eliminate dead zones – http://direct.starlink.com,” SpaceX’s post read.

Starlink Direct-to-Phone satellites will provide mobile phone access anywhere on Earth and also a solution for areas without cellular coverage.

The major goal of the first-ever direct-to-cell satellite by Musk’s company is to give people high-speed network access in remote and rural locations where other networks have issues.

Internet access and cell phone service are expected to be quicker and more dependable. Starlink is a satellite network developed by Musk’s space flight company SpaceX to provide low-cost internet to remote and interior locations. (ANI)

ONGC Videsh Ltd (OVL) Venezuela

Venezuela Agrees To Supply Oil To India In Lieu Of Pending Dividend: Petroleum Secy

Venezuela has agreed to supply crude oil to ONGC Videsh Ltd (OVL) in lieu of the pending dividend, Secretary Petroleum Pankaj Jain said.

“They have agreed to give us some oil in lieu of its pending OVL dues. We are waiting for lifting dates,” the Petroleum Secretary said.

This comes after the US eased sanctions on Venezuela’s oil sector in October. The sanctions were imposed to punish Maduro’s government following his 2018 re-election.

Earlier, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that India will buy Venezuelan oil, adding that Indian refineries are capable of processing the heavy oil from the South African country.

Speaking to reporters at an event, Puri stated that New Delhi is willing to resume oil import with any nation that is not under sanction.

“India will buy Venezuelan oil. Many of our refineries including one in Paradip are capable of processing heavy oil from Venezuela. We are willing to resume (oil import) with anyone who is not under sanction,” he had said.

“We are in a situation where we are using crude oil 5 million barrels/ per day. And it is increasing every day. If Venezuela oil comes to market we will welcome it,” he added.

India last imported Venezuelan crude in 2020 when the U.S. imposed secondary sanctions on the nation. The U.S. imposed harsh sanctions on Venezuela to punish Maduro’s government following his 2018 re-election.

The South American country is producing some 850,000 barrels per day (BPD) of crude with a target of soon reaching 1 million BPD.

India, the world’s third-largest oil importer and consumer, has embarked on a strategic journey to reshape its energy landscape.

As a nation heavily reliant on overseas oil, accounting for over 80 per cent of its needs, India aims to curtail its crude import bill and bolster its refining capabilities.

This pursuit has led India to explore diverse sources, and one country that has caught its attention is Venezuela.

Venezuela, a historical player in the global oil industry, has been producing oil since 1914. With proven oil reserves of 299,953,000,000 barrels, as of 2016, Venezuela stands as one of the world’s leading holders of oil reserves, representing about 18.2 per cent of the global total.

India, eyeing opportunities to diversify its oil sources and strengthen its refining capabilities, is keenly exploring collaborations and partnerships with Venezuela. (ANI)

Lakshadweep May Be Small, But Its Heart Is Huge: Modi At Kavaratti

After the inauguration of various projects worth Rs 1,156 crores in Kavaratti, Lakshadweep on Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi said that the area of Lakshadweep may be small, but its heart is huge.

“The area of Lakshadweep may be small, but its heart is huge. I am overwhelmed by the love and blessings I am receiving here. I pay my gratitude to you all,” said PM Modi after the inauguration of several projects in Kavaratti.

“In 2020, I guaranteed you that you will get a fast internet facility within the next 1000 days. Today, the Kochi-Lakshadweep Submarine Optical Fiber Project has been inaugurated. Now, the internet in Lakshadweep will be available at 100 times higher speed,” said PM Modi.

“After independence, the only priority of governments that remained at the Centre for decades was the development of their political parties. Far-off states, border areas or those in the middle of the ocean were not given any attention. Notably, in the last 10 years, our government has made border areas and areas at the edge of the sea its priority.” added the PM.

Speaking on the blue economy, PM Modi said, “Today, India is focussing on increasing its share in the world seafood market, and Lakshadweep is hugely benefitting from this. Today, the Tuna fish of Lakshadweep is being exported to Japan, and the welfare of fishermen is being fully ensured. Notably, the possibilities related to seaweed cultivation are also being explored in Lakshadweep.”

Prime Minister Modi said that the government is committed to the sustainable development of Lakshadweep.

“Our government is committed to the sustainable development of Lakshadweep; the Solar Power Plant present here, which is based on the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), is one such example. Notably, this is Lakshadweep’s first battery-backed Solar Project. This project will usher in lesser pollution and lesser impact on the ocean ecosystem of the State,” the PM said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 1,156 crores in Kavaratti.

PM Modi also interacted with beneficiaries of various government of India schemes in Lakshadweep.

“It was a delight to interact with beneficiaries of various GoI schemes in Lakshadweep. A group of women talked about how their SHG worked towards starting a restaurant, thus becoming self-reliant; an elderly person shared how Ayushman Bharat helped in treating a heart ailment, and a woman farmer’s life changed due to PM-KISAN. Others talked about free ration, benefits for Divyangs, PM-AWAS, Kisan Credit Cards, Ujjwala Yojana and more. It is indeed satisfying to see the fruits of development reach a cross-section of people, even in the more remote areas.” PM Modi posted on X.

Later today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing a mass gathering of two lakh women from various walks of life at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Mahila Conference in Thrissur Kerala. Banners and hoardings have been put up in Thrissur city to welcome the Prime Minister.

Built at a cost of about Rs 400 crore, this groundbreaking facility has the unique distinction of being the world’s only industrial-scale plant capable of handling both carbide and oxide spent fuels from fast reactors, a release stated.

He also inaugurated the new terminal building of the Tiruchirappalli International Airport — Tamil Nadu’s second-largest terminal in terms of international traffic, after the one in the capital Chennai.

The new terminal building has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 1100 crore. These include the doubling of the 41.4 km Salem-Magnesite Junction-Omalur-Mettur Dam section; the doubling of the rail line section of 160 km from Madurai-Tuticorin; and three projects for rail line electrification: Tiruchchirappalli-Manamadurai-Virudhunagar; Virudhunagar-Tenkasi Junction; Sengottai-Tenkasi Junction; Tirunelveli- Tirunelveli- Tiruchendur. The rail projects are tipped to help improve the rail capacity to carry freight and passengers and contribute to economic development and employment generation in Tamil Nadu. (ANI)
