Unpredictable Situation At Border Worries Myanmar Refugees

Following the recent airstrike by the Myanmar army in the bordering areas of Myanmar, the situation is still tense, but there has been no report of any fresh violent incidents along the Indo-Myanmar border.

According to the locals of the Zokhawthar area in Mizoram’s Champhai district, which is the last border village from the Indian side, the overall situation is now peaceful.

Following the airstrike by the Myanmar army, as many as 5000 Myanmar nationals crossed over the international border and entered the Zokhawthar area to take shelter and many of them have now returned to their country.

Speaking about the current situation along the Indo-Myanmar border area, Rama, who is a local resident of the Zokhawthar area, told ANI that the current situation along the border area is peaceful.

“It’s unpredictable; sometimes it’s peaceful and within a minute you don’t know what will happen. Right now the situation is peaceful, but it was not good till the day before yesterday,” Rama said.

Indian security personnel are vigilantly overseeing the movements of citizens from both countries on the Tiau River bridge, a vital link connecting Zokhawthar in Mizoram’s Champhai district to the Chin State of Myanmar.

On the other hand, Zothangliana, a local youth of the Zokhawthar area who also witnessed the recent airstrike by the Myanmar army, said that, on that day, the entire situation was horrible and along with other people of the Zokhawthar area, he also saw the bombing by the Myanmar army in the bordering areas of Myanmar.

“On November 13, not only during the morning but also at night, they were continuously bombing. In the morning, around four, they started continuously firing and bombing. It’s a big problem for us. It’s very horrible for us. Afterwards, refugees started coming, and we helped them,” Zothangliana, a local youth of the Zokhawthar area, said.

The refugees however are happy with the facilities and help that has been provided by the Government of Mizoram and local NGOs

25-year-old Khiannunpar, a resident of Chin state of Myanmar who is now living along with her family in a refugee camp in the Zokhawthar area says, “I am now nine months pregnant…Earlier, I visited a local health Sub-Centre for my health checkup and the administration has provided me medicines. Doctors and nurses also visited to inquire about our health. We also get ration. We are so happy with the Mizoram government’s work. They are supporting us.”

Myanmar refugee from the Bethel refugee camp, Vanlalruata says, “We came here in September 2021 as refugees. As of now, there are eight pregnant women in this camp…The Mizoram government and NGOs are supporting and helping us. They have provided us with medicines. The government is trying their best to mitigate our problems. We are thankful to the Mizoram government.”

James Lalrinchhana, Deputy Commissioner, Keifangtlang, Champhai District says that the Government has provided tents and other ammenties to the refugees.

“From our office, we sent magistrates and officers from Disaster Management. They immediately assessed the situation and with the help of NGOSs there, they arranged food immediately required by people. Apart from that, they also require shelter…We sheltered them in community halls, schools” the Deputy Commissioner told ANI.

Among the 5,000 Myanmar refugees who are now taking shelter in six refugee camps in the Zokhawthar area in Mizoram’s Champhai district which is located along the Indo-Myanmar border, there are many women and children who are also living in makeshift tents in the camps. (ANI)

Prime Minister Richard Marles ICC WC Final

Australian Deputy PM Marles To Watch ICC WC Final

Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles will watch the Cricket World Cup Final between India and Australia in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on November 19, Ministry of Defence announced in a press release.

Ahead of the ICC World Cup Final, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel chaired a high-level meeting on Friday and reviewed security, cleanliness, and traffic management-related arrangements.

As per the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Deputy PM Richard Marles will watch the ICC Cricket World Cup final match at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India stormed into the finals after registering a comprehensive 70-run victory over New Zealand on Wednesday. In the second semifinal, South Africa made Australia sweat in their chase of a humble target of 213 on a spiteful surface at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The five-time champions slipped in its chase but recovered just in time to scrape past the Proteas. Australia skipper Pat Cummins and speedster Mitchell Starc held their nerves to take the hosts to a three-wicket win.

During his visit to India, Richard Marles will co-chair the 2nd India-Australia 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Ministry of Defence said in a press release. The two leaders will also hold bilateral meeting on defence cooperation on November 20 followed by the 2+2 Dialogue.

The 2+2 dialogue will be co-chaired by Rajnath Singh and Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar along with their Australian counterparts, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Richard Marles and Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong. Notably, the inaugural 2+2 ministerial dialogue took place in New Delhi in September 2021.

In the press release, the Ministry of Defence said, “India and Australia are pursuing a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the visit of Minister Marles is expected to give further impetus to the collaboration as well as bilateral defence cooperation.”

“The two countries are expected to discuss wide-ranging issues of mutual interest during the 2+2 dialogue and the bilateral Defence Ministers’ meeting,” it added.

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the list of celebrities who will perform ahead of the ODI World Cup final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Aditya Thackeray

Complaint Filed Against Thackeray For Illegally Inaugurating Delisle Road Bridge

A case has been registered against Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray faction leader Aditya Thackeray and other office bearers for illegally inaugurating the Delisle Road Bridge in Lower Parel, said Mumbai Police.

A complaint was filed by the road department of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation at the NM Joshi police station and thereafter a case was registered under sections 143, 149, 326, and 447 of the IPC.

According to the Mumbai Police, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray along with Sunil Shinde, Sachin Ahir, former Mayor Kishori Pednekar, Former Mayor Snehal Ambekar and 15-20 activists, went to the location and inaugurated the bridge.

The Delisle Road Bridge was not fully ready for traffic and there was no permission from the Mumbai municipal corporation to open the bridge. The BMC officer complained to the police, on the basis of which the police registered a case against Aditya Thackeray and other party leaders.

The UBT Shiv Sena leader cited “Public suffering” behind opening of the bridge without the permission of the BMC.

“While we waited on the BMC to open the full bridge to people for use, it has been almost 10 days that the other side has been ready and waiting for a VIP to inaugurate it. We inaugurated it last night and today, the BMC under the pressure of Khoke Sarkar has closed it down again, waiting for a govt inauguration, only to trouble the citizens of Mumbai. Why can’t it be thrown open for the people instead of waiting for the guardian minister’s ego and convenience? Open it!”, Aditya Thackeray said in a post on X.

The Delisle Road Bridge is a crucial link between Lower Parel, Worli, Prabhadevi, and Currey roads in the west and Byculla and other areas in the east. It was shut on July 24, 2018, after being declared unsafe by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

Earlier Aaditya Thackeray had also questioned the delay by the Maharashtra government in the inauguration of the Navi Mumbai Metro Rail services. The Metro was inaugurated on November 17.

“My only demand was, if the ministers of this extra-constitutional government do not have time to inaugurate the metro, then start the metro for the people without the inauguration. In the current Shinde-BJP regime, the party comes first and public comes last. They have time to promote their party, but not to inaugurate Navi Mumbai Metro. Delisle Road Bridge is the same way” Aditya Thackeray had said in his post on November 16. (ANI)

Gaza

Israeli Govt Approves Regular Fuel Deliveries To Gaza

Two fuel tankers entered Gaza through the Rafah crossing on Friday, following approval by Israel’s war cabinet to facilitate regular deliveries to the besieged enclave, CNN reported.

The tankers, carrying a total of 60,000 litres of diesel fuel, were authorised for use by international organisations, particularly the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), according to Israeli military spokesperson Rear Adm Daniel Hagari.

“This fuel entered in a limited manner for the use of international organisations, for UNRWA,” Rear Adm Hagari stated, specifying that the fuel would support desalination facilities providing water to the southern strip. The oversight of this process is led by the United States and Egypt.

“There are desalination facilities that should provide water to the southern strip, so the fuel is used just for these two needs. We monitor this issue to ensure it’s used for these two needs only. This (process) is led by the US and Egypt,” Hagari added.

The decision allows two fuel tankers a day to enter Gaza, providing essential support to the water and sewage systems on the verge of collapse due to a lack of electricity. Tzachi Hanegbi, Israel’s national security adviser, emphasised the critical state of these systems in a Friday briefing.

Israel’s war cabinet approved a measure on Friday allowing two fuel tankers a day to enter Gaza for water and sewage system support, CNN reported, citing Israel’s national security adviser.

Those systems are “on the verge of collapsing, considering the lack of electricity and ability to operate the sewage and water systems,” the official, Tzachi Hanegbi, said in a Friday briefing.

Under the approved measure, 1,40,000 litres of fuel will enter Gaza every 48 hours, with the majority allocated for water and sewage uses, a US State Department official told CNN.

Additional usage includes UN relief agency trucks, waste disposal, bakeries, and hospitals in southern Gaza. A smaller portion, around 20,000 litres every 48 hours, will power Paltel generators for cell phones and internet services.

The decision was made in consultation with the Israel Defence Forces and Israel’s International Security Academy, ensuring it aligns with operational objectives and does not support Hamas, as clarified by Hanegbi.

The rationale behind the decision was framed within the context of avoiding the spread of pandemics, acknowledging the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Hanegbi said, “We don’t need pandemics that might hit civilians there, our combat troops, and if there will be pandemics, the fighting will cease. We will not be able to continue fighting under the conditions of a humanitarian crisis and a global outcry.”

Notably, the decision has faced criticism within the Israeli government, with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich expressing concerns and urging a reversal of the policy.

Smotrich even wrote a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which he later released on X, asking for the policy to be reversed, as reported by CNN.

“That decision is extremely odd. This decision is a spit in the face of IDF soldiers, bereaved families, the hostages and their families,” Smotrich said, adding, “This is not how you win a war, that’s not how you destroy Hamas and that’s not how we’ll return the hostages.”

Fuel shortages in Gaza have exacerbated water and sewage issues, with approximately 70 per cent of the population now relying on “salinized and contaminated” water, as reported by the UNRWA.

The fuel situation has been a key focus of recent discussions, including those with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Tel Aviv earlier this month. The move to allow fuel deliveries comes after weeks of pressure from the US, CNN reported. (ANI)

Mohd Mahmood Ali

Useless, Manifesto Of Lies: BRS Leader Mahmood On Congress’ Poll Guarantees

Telangana Home Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Mohd Mahmood Ali on Friday said that the Congress party’s manifesto for the November 30 polls is ‘useless and full of lies’.

This came after Congress president Mallikarjun Khrage released its manifesto, titled ‘Abhaya Hastham’ (the hand that protects), for this month’s Assembly elections in Telangana, promising six guarantees.

“You can compare the work we (the BRS government) have done in the past 9 years and 4 months and Congress’ work in the last 50 years. KCR is a great leader with a vision. What vision does the Congress have? Their manifesto is a manifesto of lies,” he told ANI.

The Telangana Home Minister said that Congress, under its Minorities Declaration, is promising an increase in the state annual minority welfare budget to Rs 4,000 crore, but it is the only party responsible for the poor economic condition of Muslims. “They made Muslims poor and never provided them an education,” he said.

The BRS leader said that the Chief Minister KCR-led government has deposited Rs 306 crore into the bank accounts of Imam and Mouzzan, while the grand old party has not spent even a rupee.

“Anyone can promise anything while in opposition. They cannot come to power. They can only promise. They are misleading people by making false promises. They have declared Rs 4000 crore. In Congress-ruled Rajasthan, there are 25 lakh Muslims, and they have earmarked just Rs 1900 crore for them,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Congress party, under the ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, has promised to give Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance to women. Gas Cylinders at Rs 500 and free travel for women in TSRTC buses across the state.

The party said it will also provide financial assistance of Rs 15,000 per acre to farmers, and tenant farmers; Rs 12,000 to agricultural labour will be provided every year; a bonus of Rs 500 for paddy per quintal will be provided under ‘Rythu Bharosa’.

The party will provide 200 units of free electricity for all households under ‘Gruha Jyothi’ if it comes to power in the state, as per the election manifesto.

Under the ‘Indiramma Indlu’ scheme, the party promises to provide a house site for families not owning a house and Rs 5 lakh financial assistance towards the construction of the house.

Under ‘Yuva Vikasam’ a financial assistance card worth Rs 5 lakh, will be provided to students which can be used in payment of college fees, read the Congress manifesto.

All Telangana movement fighters will be provided with a 250 sq yards house site, as per the Congress election manifesto.

And under the ‘Cheyutha’, a monthly pension of Rs 4,000 will be provided to senior citizens, widows, disabled, beedi workers, single women, today tappers, weavers, AIDS and Filaria patients and kidney patients undergoing dialysis.

The party said health insurance of Rs 10 lakh will be provided.

The manifesto was launched amid the polling in Madhya Pradesh where voting for the 230-member assembly is underway.

Assembly elections in Telangana will be held on November 30. The counting of votes for the Telangana Assembly will be held along with those of four other poll-bound states on December 3.

In the previous Assembly election in 2018, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 of the 119 seats, hogging 47.4 per cent of the total vote share. The Congress came in a distant second with just 19 seats. (ANI)

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

People Across Country Suffering From Inflation: Priyanka

Ahead of the November 25 assembly elections in Rajasthan, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed concern over the rising inflation, emphasizing that the economic strain has become so pronounced that women are apprehensive about managing their expenses during the festive season.

During her campaign in Rajasthan’s Sagwara, Dungarpur district, Priyanka Gandhi recounted her visit to Madhya Pradesh, “Women in Madhya Pradesh shared their worries about festival-related expenditures. They highlighted the challenges of cooking, hosting guests, purchasing household items, lighting diyas, fulfilling children’s requests for firecrackers, and buying new clothes”.

Priyanka underscored the pervasive concern among women regarding how to navigate these financial responsibilities.

Addressing the nationwide frustration with inflation, Priyanka mentioned the initiation of ‘Mehangai Rahat’ camps by states to assist people in coping with rising prices. She asserted that these camps have become essential due to the central government’s failure to control inflation.

“The entire country is fed up with inflation. You must have seen that during Dhanteras, when you had to buy something for your household, inflation has risen to such an extent. If the states had not started ‘Mehangai Rahat’ camps, how could you have managed? The situation is such that since the Centre is not controlling inflation, the states are running inflation camps to help you,” the senior Congress leader said.

Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of undermining and privatizing major factories, Priyanka claimed that this has led to a decline in employment opportunities, pushing people to seek jobs in the private sector.

Priyanka said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party has weakened all big factories and PSUs and slowly given them to its friends and industrialists. They were a source of employment. Today everyone is seeking employment in the private sector.”

Speaking about the efforts of the Congress government in providing employment opportunities in the rural sector, Priyanka said, “The Congress government wants people to get employment in their villages. This leads to strengthening the village’s economy.”

On farmers’ distress, Priyanka said, “Today, farmers are suffering. Inflation is high, GST is applicable on all items, prices of petrol, diesel are high, GST is applicable on tractors as well.”

Priyanka said that in Rajasthan, lakhs of farmers were given farm loan waivers up to 14,000 crores.

“The Congress government thought that if loans are waived, it would lead to some relief. Farm loans are waived only in Congress-ruled states. In Rajasthan, lakhs of farmers were given farm loan waivers till 14,000 crores.

Speaking about former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Priyanka said, “My grandmother Indira ji used to say that it is the culture of our country that all religions and ideologies, cultures must be respected.”

“Today 40 years have passed since she passed away….But the country remembers her even today. This is because she has treated the entire country like his family and kept them close to her heart,” she added.

Rajasthan is one of the states undergoing voting in this polling season. Voting concluded in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on Friday. The first phase of Chhattisgarh elections and Mizoram took place on November 7. Telangana will vote on November 30. The counting of all the state assembly elections is scheduled for December 3. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal

One Day AAP Will Rule The Country: Kejriwal

Claiming that one day the Aam Aadmi Party will “rule the country, leaving behind the BJP and Congress,” Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said here on Friday said that AAP is the “fastest growing party in the world.”

The AAP convenor further said that the “Guinness Book of World Records should feature the party.”

While addressing the AAP ‘Karyakarta Sammelan’, he said, “All the workers and office-bearers (of AAP), who have come here, I want to congratulate you that you are part of the fastest growing party in the world. To date, there has not been any party in the whole world that has progressed so fast. I think we should ask the Guinness Book of World Records to feature us.”

He said that the party formed its government in Delhi with a thumping majority within a year of the AAP’s formation 10 years ago, and went on to emerge victorious in the neighbouring Punjab last year.

“Then in Gujarat, we won 5 seats with 14 per cent vote share. I am confident that the next government in Gujarat will be formed by Aam Aadmi Party,” Kejriwal said.

“Now we have also got the status of national party. We are in third position in the entire country out of 1350 registered political parties. And at the pace we are growing, my heart says that one day the Aam Aadmi Party will rule the country, leaving behind BJP and Congress,” Kejriwal said in his address to the party workers.

Hitting out at the BJP over the central agencies’ actions against his party and colleagues, the AAP national convenor claimed that “PM Modi wants to form government in Delhi.”

“Since AAP is growing fast, it is natural that big conspiracies are being made against AAP. BJP and PM Modi realised that they can’t win against AAP in Delhi. So they (BJP) made a conspiracy– liquor policy scam. An actual liquor scam is happening in Gujarat so many people have died here,” he said.

The Delhi Chief Minister, who himself has skipped an ED summon in connection with the excise policy scam, said that the AAP leaders including Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and senior leader Manish Sisodia have been arrested in a “fake case.”

“Our leaders Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Satyender Jain and Vijay Nair were arrested in a fake case and now they’re going to arrest me, their intention is to topple the AAP government and PM Modi wants to form government in Delhi, they know they can’t defeat us through elections. I want to tell them that even if they put me in jail, AAP will win from jail,” Kejriwal added.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh was arrested on October 4, after a day-long questioning by the ED officials at his Delhi residence.

Allegedly, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is also involved in the same liquor policy scam. He is currently lodged in jail in connection with the same. The former Delhi Deputy CM and excise minister was first arrested by the CBI on February 26 for his alleged role in the scam.

Kejriwal skipped the Enforcement Directorate’s summon earlier this month and went to attend a roadshow in Madhya Pradesh, where Assembly elections were held today.

The Delhi CM had demanded the ED to withdraw its “vague and motivated” notice summoning him for questioning, claiming that it was “illegal and politically motivated”. (ANI)

ICC Cricket World Cup final Sadguru

Don’t Try To Win, Just Hit The Ball: Sadhguru To Indian Cricket Team

With India reaching the ICC Cricket World Cup final, sports fever has gripped the country like never before. As the nation fervently supports the ‘Men in Blue,’ questions about how to secure victory in the final match are dominating the thoughts and discussions of everyone rallying behind the team.

In the now-viral video, shared on Sadhguru’s social media handles, a person asked Sadhguru for a tip for the Indian cricket team to bring the World Cup back. Responding in his inimitable style, Sadhguru said, “Don’t try to win the Cup, just hit the damn ball! If you think of this 1 billion people baying for the Cup, you will miss the ball, or if you think of all the other fanciful things that will happen if you win the World Cup, the ball will knock off your wickets.”

“So, how to win this World Cup? Don’t think about that. How to hit the damn ball? How to knock off the opposition’s wickets. That’s all you have to think about. Don’t think about the World Cup. Then you will knock off the World Cup.”

Earlier, sharing best wishes with the Indian cricket team before the semi-final match against New Zealand, Sadhguru’s channel on X posted a video highlighting the importance of the process: “Nobody can work on a consequence; you can only work on a process… Now, the process is a daily ongoing thing. Success is only in other people’s eyes. They think you are successful; they think you are a failure. But essentially, what you are doing is the process, right?” he said.

The final of the Cricket World Cup 2023 is set to take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat between India and Australia on Sunday. With the Indian team winning all 10 matches including the semi-final, the summit clash promises to be an electrifying one as the Australian team is also coming after registering eight consecutive win.

India breezed through the group stage, finishing on the top with 18 points after winning all their matches. The semi-final against New Zealand, in which India batters piled up a huge total, did produce some tense moments for Indian fans but Mohammed Shami struck at the right time to relieve the pressure. India won by 70 runs in the match played in Mumbai.

Australia also pulled through in the other semi-final and defeated South Africa by three wickets in Kolkata.

If India win, it will be their third World Cup title, and second on home soil. (ANI)
