” I woke up and heard the news about my alleged arrest in the media. All these allegations against me are fake and without truth. They are not even 1% true. I am willing to cooperate with UP Police. I request the UP Government and the UP CM Yogi Adityanath that even if there is a 0.1% involvement in this then I am willing to take full responsibility. I request the media to not spread any misinformation till then, I have nothing to do with this

Earlier the Uttar Pradesh forest department and Noida police conducted a joint raid at Sector 51 Saffron Villa at Noida and busted the gang for allegedly supplying snake venom at a rave party.

Uttar Pradesh police said, “FIR registered at Noida Sector 49 Police Station against six people, including YouTuber and Bigg Boss winner Elvish Yadav, for making available snake venom at rave parties. Sanjay Raut Shiv Sena

Shiv Sena (UBT) Questions Centre’s Intent On Reservation For Marathas

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said that a constitutional amendment is required for Maratha reservation and asked if the Modi government would bring any proposal related to this in the winter session.

Sanjay Raut said, “For Maratha reservation, BJP leaders will have to take the initiative because PM Modi is the Prime Minister. Why do the BJP leader and Maharashtra CM not say anything on this to PM Modi? Will the Modi government bring any proposal related to this in the winter session in December? “

“If you want to give reservation then OBC and other communities should not face any setback. So the government will have to bring Constitutional amendments and for that, you will have to bring a proposal in the Parliament,” said Sanjay Raut.

Sanjay Raut alleged that the Maharashtra government did not want to take a decision on the Maratha Reservation before December 31 as it is the deadline for the Assembly Speaker to decide on the disqualification of 16 MLAs.

Raut also claimed that 16 MLAs who were part of the split in Shiv Sena almost a year back are going to be “disqualified”.

In June 2022, a group of Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray – saying that the latter’s decision to align with the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party went against the party’s Hindutva ideology. Shinde, then cabinet minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, led the revolt which vertically split the Shiv Sena.

Sanjay Raut said, “The Speaker of the Assembly has been given a deadline of December 31 and asked to take a decision. After December 31, along with the Chief Minister, 16 MLAs will become ineligible. That’s why Jarange Patil has said 24th December and the government has said 2nd January. The government wants to put this responsibility on the new government after the assembly election”

“Nothing came out of the all-party meeting. The Maratha community from the whole of Maharashtra is supporting Manoj Jarange Patil,” he added.

Earlier, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met with the Jarange Patil and assured him that a viable solution for the reservation was being worked on.

The Maratha activist agreed to call off his protest and gave the state two months’ time to come good on its promise of reservation for the Maratha community.

After the meeting with Jarange Patil, CM Eknath Shinde said, “It might be the first incident in history for a justice (retired) to visit a fasting protest site to resolve the situation, Manoj Jarange Patil has given a two-month deadline of January 2. The government will seriously undertake steps to provide a judicially sustainable and legally viable solution that can pass scrutiny by courts for the Maratha community,”

“Until now, 13,514 records have been found, which is significant. The Justice Shinde Committee has worked day and night. The committee has asked for an extension, which I have conveyed to Manoj Jarange-Patil. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had decided that this issue should be resolved through discussions and dialogue.” he added.

Justice Maroti Gaikwad, Justice Sunil Shukre, Advocate Himanshu Sachdev, and others were part of the delegation that met with Manoj Jarange Patil.

MLAs, Sandipan Bhumare, Dhananjay Munde, Atul Save, Uday Samant, Bachchu Kadu, and Narayan Rane also spoke with Manoj Jarange Patil to resolve the fasting protest.

“We are also working on the curative petition in the Supreme Court. The committee of judges established by the state government yesterday is guiding the government and the commission based on the observations recorded by the Supreme Court when it cancelled the Maratha reservation earlier. The Backward Classes Commission will undertake the task of assessing how the Maratha community is backward. The government will work very seriously to provide judiciary-sustainable reservations to the Maratha community,” CM Shinde further added.

Meanwhile, the state government on Tuesday accepted the first report presented by the Shinde committee and issued a Government Resolution (GR), to decide the procedure for granting Kunbi caste certificates to the Maratha in the Marathwada region.

The Justice Shinde committee reviewed the district-wise records in connection to the Maratha reservation. The committee directed the concerned 8 District Collectors to prepare a single sample for all the districts of Marathwada and inspect the records to submit a report to the government regarding the checked records.

The process of issuance of Kunbi certificates has begun. The Kunbi community is eligible for reservation in the OBC category. (ANI)

After Yoga, Millets Now Set To Go Global: Modi

Terming millets as part of India’s ‘Super Food Bucket’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the nutri-rich coarse grain will also reach every corner of the world just as Yoga did.

“In India, we have given it (millets) the identity of Sri Anna. On the initiative of India, today once again an awareness campaign regarding millets has started in the world. I believe that just as International Yoga Day took Yoga to every corner of the world, now Millets will also reach every corner of the world,” PM Modi said after inaugurating the three-day World Food India 2023 here in the national capital.

Millets are also the most secure crops for small farmers as they are resilient and climate-adaptable in both hot and drought environments. India produces all the nine commonly known traditional millets viz. Sorghum, Pearl Millet, Finger Millet, Foxtail Millet, Proso Millet, Little Millet, Barnyard Millet, Browntop Millet and Kodo Millet.

Millet is a common term for categorizing small-seeded grasses that are often called Nutri-cereals. Most of the states in India grow one or more millet crop species. The government of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheaded the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution for declaring the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets and the proposal of India was supported by 72 countries.

In his address, PM Modi said India not only has cultural diversity but also a rich variety of cuisines. This food diversity, according to him, serves as a dividend for investors around the globe.

“There is as much cultural diversity in India as there is food diversity. Our food diversity is a dividend for every investor in the world. Today, the way curiosity towards India has increased in the whole world, it has also brought a huge opportunity for all of you,” PM Modi said.

India is rapidly urbanising, and with the increase in employment opportunities, the demand for packaged food is also on the rise.

“To align with these ambitious policies, your plans should be equally ambitious. In the food processing sector, there are three main factors contributing to its success: small farmers, small industries, and women,” PM Modi said.

In the past nine years, the export of processed food has increased by 150 per cent, PM Modi told the gathering.

“Today, our agri-exports have reached the 7th rank globally. In the food sector, there is no field in which India has not made progress. This growth might seem rapid, but it is the result of consistent and dedicated efforts. During our government’s tenure, India has, for the first time, implemented an agri-export policy. We have established a network of logistics and infrastructure throughout India,” he noted.

The World Food India featured regional cuisines and royal culinary heritage, wherein over 200 chefs would participate and present traditional Indian cuisine, making it a unique culinary experience.

The event aims to showcase India as the ‘food basket of the world’ and celebrate 2023 as the International Year of Millets.

The event is poised to host participants from over 80 countries, including CEOs of prominent food processing companies. It will also feature a Reverse Buyer Seller Meet, with over 1200 overseas buyers from more than 80 countries.

The Netherlands will serve as the partner country, while Japan will be the event’s focus country. (ANI)

Long Queue Outside RBI Chandigarh To Deposit ₹2,000 Notes

A long queue was seen outside the RBI’s regional office in Chandigarh, with people coming from far and wide from Himachal Haryana and Punjab to exchange their Rs 2000 notes.

After commercial banks stopped accepting Rs 2000 banknotes, people have now started lining up in 19 offices of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to exchange their high-denomination notes.

The last day for the public to avail of exchange or to deposit high-value Rs 2000 banknotes at the banks was Saturday (October 7).

As per the latest Reserve Bank of India data, only about Rs 10,000 crore (or less than 3 per cent) of the currency notes remained in circulation. This essentially meant over 97 per cent of the total value of Rs 2,000 banknotes were back in the banking system.

The total value of Rs 2000 banknotes in circulation was Rs 3.56 lakh crore at the close of business on May 19, 2023 – the date on which RBI decided to withdraw the banknote.

The window for deposit and or exchange of the Rs 2,000 banknotes continues to be available at the 19 issue offices of RBI.

Those 19 RBI Issue Offices are in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.

Members of the public are also requested to avail the facility of sending the Rs 2,000 banknotes through post offices of India Post.

September 30 was initially decided as the last date for the purpose of completing the exchange and deposit exercise in a time-bound manner and to provide adequate time to the public. People were requested to utilise the month of September to deposit or exchange their Rs 2000 banknotes to avoid any rush at the last moment.

On September 30, RBI, based on a review, decided to extend the arrangement for deposit and exchange till October 7, 2023.

The Rs 2000 denomination banknote was introduced in November 2016, primarily to meet the currency requirement of the economy in an expeditious manner after the withdrawal of the legal tender status of all Rs 500 and Rs 1000 banknotes in circulation at that time.

The objective of introducing Rs 2000 banknotes was met once banknotes in other denominations became available in adequate quantities. Therefore, the printing of Rs 2000 banknotes was stopped in 2018-19. (ANI)

Gopal Rai Pollution

Rai: Delhi Govt Cannot Control Pollution Completely

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Friday said that the government cannot control the pollution in the national capital completely and that sources outside the city cause twice the pollution than inside.

The Environment Minister said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi is working on a war footing to curb the pollution level.

This came after the air quality in several parts of the national capital reeled under the ‘severe’ category on Friday morning with Mundka recording the highest Air Quality Index (498).

As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI in the Lodhi Road area was recorded at 438, in Jahangirpuri at 491, in the RK Puram area and in IGI Airport (T3) at 486 and 473 respectively.

When asked whether the Delhi government has failed in curbing the pollution level, Gopal Rai said, “First of all, it is wrong to think that the Delhi Government can control pollution completely because the matter of pollution is not of Delhi alone. Sources outside Delhi cause twice the pollution here than the sources within Delhi.”

He said that the Delhi government is working on a war footing. “It is a result of the efforts of CM Arvind Kejriwal that as per the report of the Central Government, in 2015, there were only 109 days out of 365 in which air quality was good. Last year we reached 163 days. This year, Delhi experienced more than 200 days of good air quality.”

The minister said that after the Delhi government’s efforts, the 13 hotspots identified last year across the city now have been reduced to 5, adding that the next 15 days of November are crucial.

“Last year, 13-14 hotspots were identified where there was a continuous increase in pollution. Now their numbers are 4 to 5. In the whole of North India, there is this kind of situation of AQI. The next 15 days are very critical for Delhi. The speed of the wind is low, and the temperature is going down. Seeing this, the GRAP 3 rules have been implemented. We have called the meeting of all the concerned departments at 12 p.m. today. We are seeing that, though rules and policies are being made and directed, their implementation is not strict. This is a challenge,” he added.

AQI at multiple locations in the NCR region of Noida also plunged to the ‘severe’ category with Sector 62, Sector 1 and Sector 116 recording 483, 413 and 415 respectively.

A resident of Noida said that in the wake of dense smog, he has started experiencing breathing problems.

“I can feel irritation in my throat and difficulty in breathing. There is pollution…Something should be done about it. How will an ill person breathe properly? You can see how the situation is,” he said.

Another resident, Maya Sharma, too, complained of difficulty in breathing.

“My son is going to school. The smog seems to be increasing. No notification regarding the closing of schools has come yet. I am sending him to school wearing a mask…Precaution should be taken as children are falling ill easily…Breathing has become a little difficult. If online classes take place, children will not fall ill,” she said.

Meanwhile, health experts have advised to follow precautions including wearing masks and avoiding going out unnecessarily.

Dr Dhiren Gupta, senior paediatrician, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said that air pollution in the national capital is going to impact the paediatric age group more than adults.

“Pollution is going to impact the paediatric age group more than adults. Once you are exposed during pregnancy, there are very high chance that an unborn new-born will be allergic later on. In infancy, remodelling happens in the lungs and other areas. It impacts their lives.”

He said that nowadays every road is like a smoking zone. “It not only affects patients who are allergic or have asthma but also normal people…Try to avoid going out early in the morning or late in the evening because the pollution level at that time is very high. At most, you can wear an N95 mask… We can take some measures so that we don’t contribute to this pollution,” the health expert added.

Dr Nikhil Modi, Senior Consultant Respiratory Critical Care, Apollo Hospital, also advised to follow precautions.

“We are in that time of the year where pollution has started to increase once again. The number of patients with breathing problems has increased. More people have coughs, colds, water and irritation in their eyes, and breathing problems… People of every age are affected by this. The time has come for us to use masks. Go out only when needed,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government on Thursday ordered for all the government and private primary schools to remain shut for the next two days.

In the wake of the worsening air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) invoked the third stage of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Thursday.

Stage III of the GRAP is implemented when the AQI hits Severe in the range of 401-450. As part of its response to combat pollution the state government can impose strict restrictions on BS III petrol and BS IV diesel four-wheelers in certain areas and may suspend physical classes in schools for primary grade children up to Class 5. The Delhi government has since suspended primary school classes. (ANI)

Western Railway Holi Special Trains

327 Special Trains Announced By Delhi Division During Festive Season

The Delhi Division of Northern Railway has announced 327 special train services in anticipation of the upcoming festive season. This initiative aims to ensure a hassle-free and comfortable travel experience for passengers during the Diwali and Chhat festivals.

Talking to the media, the DRM of the Delhi Division, Sukhvinder Singh said “As the festive season approaches, the Delhi Division is committed to providing a seamless and secure travel experience for passengers, catering to their needs while ensuring a joyful and safe journey to their respective destinations. The festive trains will facilitate the movement of passengers to various destinations, connecting key locations such as Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and more.

He further informed that the division has put in place a range of crowd management strategies. At terminal stations, Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff will oversee the formation of queues for orderly entry into unreserved coaches. Additionally, “May I Help You” booths will be operational at important stations, offering guidance and assistance to passengers.

“Efforts are being made to minimize last-minute platform changes, with nominated staff operating well-equipped mini-controls at major railway stations like New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar Terminal and Hazrat Nizamuddin. Special Duty Officers will be deployed during peak hours at key stations to ensure efficient operations,” he said.

“To manage crowds effectively, designated passenger holding areas or pandals will be established at New Delhi and Anand Vihar Terminal. These areas will offer amenities such as covered tentage, lighting, fans, water booths, portable toilet blocks and even entertainment options like TV screens displaying train information and infotainment content,” he added.

DRM informed that to streamline the process, all eastbound trains will primarily depart from specific platforms at New Delhi and Anand Vihar Terminal. Moreover, extra booking, reservation and enquiry counters will be opened as required.

It is also notable that for the safety and convenience of passengers, additional ticket checking and commercial staff will be deployed, while the movement of parcels will be restricted during peak periods. Civil Defence volunteers and Scout and Guide personnel will offer support and catering and vending stalls will be strategically placed to avoid hindering passenger movement.

The railway authorities are reinforcing security measures by deploying additional RPF/RPSF personnel, dog squads, baggage scanners and metal detectors at entry points. The installation of extra CCTV cameras, enhanced communication tools and coordination with law enforcement and emergency services will further bolster security arrangements.

Two dedicated teams have been formed to combat incidents of theft of passenger belongings and the illicit black market trade of railway tickets. (ANI)

Rohit Praises Shreyas’s Heroics As India Crushes Sri Lanka In World Cup

India skipper Rohit Sharma hailed Shreyas Iyer for steering the Men in Blue in the middle overs to a massive total against Sri Lanka in the ongoing World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

Shreyas with his knock of 82 took the fight against the Sri Lankan bowlers and ensured India’s run rate stayed above 6 and they stayed on course to post a total above 350.

Rohit praised Shreyas for the way he batted throughout the first innings after India lost back-to-back wickets of the two set batters, Shubman Gill (92) and Virat Kohli (88).

“Credit to the batters for getting to that total and then the seamers, obviously. Shreyas is a very strong lad, strong in his mind, and today he did what he is known for – take on the opposition and the bowlers. He’s been working very hard on his game and today we saw what he’s capable of. As for Siraj, he’s a quality bowler and if he does that, it’s quite a big difference for us. So very happy with how the squad as performed, even Surya in the last game,” Rohit said after the game.

He went on to express his delight after India became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the ongoing World Cup and praised the entire team for showcasing consistency through the seven games.

“I’m very happy knowing we have qualified for the semifinals; this was the first goal. But how we approached the seven games has been quite clinical, and a lot of individuals have put in the effort, put their hands up and stood up. It was a good challenge for us to bat and put runs on the board. That’s the kind of template you want to have when you want to score that many runs,” Rohit added.

Coming to the match, Mohammed Siraj’s sensational spell was shadowed by Mohammed Shami, who took the onus to send India to the semi-finals of the World Cup after a thumping 302-run victory. (ANI)

Delhi Metro is already running 40 additional train trips on weekdays (Monday to Friday) from October 25 onwards when the GRAP-II stage came into force.

Thus, from tomorrow, DMRC will be running a total of 60 additional trips as part of its measures taken under GRAP to encourage more and more people to use public transport in Delhi-NCR.

According to an official release by the CAQM, the Delhi government has imposed a ban on construction activities in the entire National Capital Region (NCR).

However, exemptions have been made for the projects for the railway services, metro services, airports, inter-state bus terminals, defence-related activities, healthcare-related activities, etc, the release read further.

The government will also intensify the frequency of mechanised sweeping of roads and ensure daily water-sprinkling along with dust suppressants, added the official statement.

Activities including earthwork for excavation and filling including boring and drilling works will be banned.

Meanwhile, the air quality of the national capital continued to remain in the ‘very poor’ category on Thursday for the fifth day in a row with an Air Quality Index of 346, according to SAFAR-India. (ANI)
