Kunal Kapoor as Kalaripayattu warrior in Jayaraj's trilingual Veeram

Kunal Kapoor surprised everyone with his makeover for the movie Veeram. The dude who has largely played an urban city boy in his career, wanted to make a difference in his career with the Malyalam movie Veeram, which is directed by national award winning director Jayaraj Nair.

Kunal plays a Kalaripayattu warrior in Jayaraj’s trilingual period drama, which is set in 13th century Kerala. He reveals that it would take him nearly four hours to get ready for the shoot.
He also trained for five months before the shoot, putting on twelve-and-a-half kgs of muscles to look like a warrior who is intimidating but not too bulked up for the character. Since Kalaripayattu is not a simple art form, Kunal had to dedicate several hours of training to get the moves right.
Veeram is an adaptation of Shakespear’s classic Macbeth, and this will be Kunal’s first regional movie.

The poster gives a glimpse of the Rang De Basanti actor in the avatar of a warrior. The story is set in the North Malabar area of Kerala. The film has been co-produced by Chandramohan Pillai and Pradeep Rajan of Chandrakala Arts. Veeram is being made in Malayalam, Hindi and English.
