Why Smriti Irani remains a centre of controversy all the time

The BJP reshuffle was surprising in more than many ways. The shift of portfolios sent out messages to the world. But, what came as shocking news was Smriti Irani’s downsizing, which was shocking piece of relevance. Irani was the hot-shot HRD Minister who has been handed over the charge of textile ministry now. She has been replaced by former Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, who took charge of the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry.

Irani’s shift has raised eyebrows and much as she has been subjected to ridicule on various public platforms and social networking sites. The actress-turned-politician has been facing a lot of flak for a series of controversies, which seemingly has gone against her. This was BJPs well kept secret that Smriti Irani at various stages has caused embarrassment.

She was known for the controversial behaviour and would always find in a middle of controversy at the drop of a hat. This is believed to have pissed off the big bosses of the party, particularly Amit Shah. According to sources quoted by prominent daily, Smriti also annoyed people in the party because “everytime she was in trouble, she would take a stand of ideology in line with the party or sangh, forcing the BJP and the government to defend her.” Anwar Ali, Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar was the latest one to make an uncharitable comment on Irani. Since the country has never really been ashamed of making personal attack on women, it doesn’t come as a surprise that people are finding it convenient to take it to another low.

Smriti has been keeping it down and has dignifiedly moved to the new responsibility. Prakashh Javadekar, who earlier held independent charge as the Minister of State was the only minister promoted to the cabinet rank in the major cabinet reshuffle by the PM. “All the challenges will be converted into opportunities and we will cooperate with all the state’s,” Javadekar said recently.
