‘Rahul Knows Nothing About Freedom Enjoyed By Sikhs In India’
Jagnain Singh Neetu, a businessman from UP, decries Rahul Gandhi’s statement on Sikhs as dangerous and an attempt to divide the country on communal lines. His Views:
I was shocked and surprised when Rahul Gandhi during his US trip said that in the days to come the members of Sikh community might not be allowed to wear a turban or a ‘kada’ and go to Gurdwara. For the leader of Opposition to make such a communally charged statement in a foreign land was not only irresponsible but also dangerous.
After his return to India, during the run up to Jammu Kashmir and Haryana elections, he has continued to make similar divisive statements in his political rallies. His immature statements about minorities and caste census go on to reveal the real agenda of his parent party, Congress: divide and rule.
Allow me to school Rahul Gandhi about the religious freedom enjoyed by the Sikhs in India. Is he aware of the fact that Sikhs are allowed to carry kirpans (a curved blade) even on international flight in India. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) allows Sikh passengers to carry a kirpan, only because it is an article of faith for the community. Not just flights, Sikhs can carry a Kirpan in cinema halls, government offices and public places. Sikh community is also exempted from wearing a helmet while riding a motorized two-wheeler or in any activity where helmets are compulsory simply because we cannot wear another headgear over our pagdi or turban.
Had Sikhs been discriminated against, we would not have occupied every single constitutional post in India. India has seen a Sikh as President of India, Prime Minister of India, Chief Justice of India, Five Star Air Chief Marshal (Arjan Singh), Army Chiefs, Air Force Chiefs, State Police Chiefs, even the Indian cricket team captain.

Incidentally, the recently appointed Indian Air Force head under the Narendra Modi Government is Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, a proud India Sikh. In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proudly flaunts and wears a turban whenever he is visiting Gurdwaras or attending Sikhs religious functions.
Imagine the leader of the Opposition bringing the country into disrepute only to score political points before a crowd who only bear ill-will against India. He is actually playing into the hands of those anti-India elements who have been trying to paint a picture of India which is intolerant, minority-phobic and caste-ridden. Is this how he wants to bring foreign investors to the country?
And his motor-mouth is keeping with this agenda in the Assembly election season. In J&K, he brazenly made an outcry claiming that outsiders were ruling the people and taking policy decisions for the Union Territory. In addition, his party has allied with the National Conference which has promised to bring back Article 370 if voted to power. No wonder he is considered as the poster-boy of our enemy country Pakistan, which seconds his party promises.
Rahul’s hatred for the idea of India can be clearly seen when he describes the bhajan-kirtan at Ram Temple in Ayodhya as song-and-dance programmes. It is laughable that he questions religious freedom in India while himself deriding the sacred practices of the majority community in the country. The electorate must see through his designs and keep him out of power, forever.
