Gujarat Too Will Have Free Electricity From March: Bhagwant

Exuding confidence in the victory of Aam Aadmi Party in the Gujarat polls, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said that the northwestern state will give free electricity from March.

His remarks came while addressing a press meeting in Ahmedabad.
“AAP had promised in Delhi to give free electricity, at that time opponents said how will you do it, and we did it. The same was the case in Punjab. In Gujarat too we will give free electricity to people from March,” said CM Bhagwant Mann.

He also highlighted that the people of Punjab will soon get zero electricity bills.

“I have got 25000 bills in total. You can check it. 61 lakh people have got zero bills out of 75 lac meters in Punjab. By January 71 lakh people will get zero bills in Punjab,” he added.

He also took a jibe at the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and said “When I first came to Gujarat, I thought will get to learn something from the Gujarat model. The highways were okay but as soon as we leave the highways, I got to see the real Gujarat model. We do not say we will give you 15 lac rupees in your account, we say, we will give benefits to people which will save their 30000 rupees.”

He also slammed the opposition and said, “We will form the government here in Gujarat. People say we are the B Team of the BJP, some say we are the B team of Congress. But, We are the ‘A team’ of 130 crore people.”

The campaign for the first phase of Gujarat elections concluded on Tuesday with the ruling BJP and other political parties making hectic efforts to woo voters on 89 seats spread over 19 districts of Kutch, Saurashtra and South Gujarat.

The campaigning ended at 5 pm on Tuesday ahead of the first phase of polling on December 1.

“Campaigning for first phase Gujarat assembly elections has ended. All arrangements have been made for election and training has been provided to polling staff,” Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) P Bharathi told ANI. (ANI)

AAP promises MCD Poll

MCD Polls: AAP Promises Relief From Monkey, Stray Cattle And Dog

AAP on Thursday promised to provide relief to Delhi residents from stray cattle, monkey, and dog menace if it will be voted to govern in the national capital’s December four civic body polls.

Talking to media at its Delhi office at Rouse Avenue today, AAP’s Greater Kailash MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj said that cattle keep on eating garbage in the national capital.
Also AAP’s national spokesperson, Bhardwaj said his party would build gaushalas for stray cattle if voted to govern in the ensuing Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.

Monkeys also pose a big problem for Delhi people. Arrangements will be made to send monkeys to their natural habitat, he promised.

The third main problem is of stray dogs. Delhi’s AAP government brought problems created by stray dogs to MCD’s notice several times but it did not pay any heed to solve it, he added.

Bhardwaj said that if voted to govern MCD, AAP would provide relief to Delhi residents from dog menace by encouraging individuals and non-government organisations (NGOs) to make stray dogs as their pets.

Under “Be Indian, Adopt Indian” slogan, AAP will launch a movement for making desi breed dogs’ as pets, he further added.

All these steps will provide relief to Delhi residents from stray cattle, monkey, and dog menace, he added.

AAP MLA further stated that regular fogging would also be done to get rid of mosquitoes to check the spread of various diseases.

Earlier, the total number of civic wards in the national capital was reduced from 272 to 250 following a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The notification pertained to redrawing of the MCD wards.

Notably, the BJP has governed the civic bodies since 2007.

In the last civic body polls in 2017, the BJP won 181 of the 270 wards. The AAP had won 48 wards, while the Congress managed to win 27. Polling was not held for two seats due to the death of candidates.

Voting for 250-member MCD will be held on December 4 and the counting of votes will take place on December 7.

The last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 19, whereas filing of nominations started on November 7 after the issuance of notification for MCD polls on that day. The last date for filing a nomination was November 14. The scrutiny was done on November 16. (ANI)

Taliban Advocating For Peace: Mann Attacks Previous Punjab Govt

Launching a scathing attack on the previous government, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said that those patronised criminals during their regime are now raising questions about the peace and harmony of the state.

He said that it is like “Taliban” is advocating for peace.
“Under their regime the jails break incidents occurred. In order to save the daughter’s honour, the police officer was shot in the market and they stepped on them and raised slogans in favour of their boss. They patronised gangsters and now, they question the peace and harmony of the state. It is just like the Taliban take out a candle march and advocate the peace,” Chief Minister wrote in a tweet in Punjabi apparently targeting Congress.

The Chief Minister said the state government is firmly committed to maintaining a law and order situation in Punjab and any anti-social element will not be allowed to disturb the hard-earned peace and communal harmony of the state at any cost.

He said that a few unfortunate incidents occurred in the state but still law and order is intact in Punjab under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

“The crime rate is extremely low in Punjab as compared to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other states of the country but still we are taking precautionary measures like cracking down on gun culture and reviewing gun licences issued recklessly by the previous governments so that the law and order situation remains intact,” the Chief Minister said. Sukhbir Singh attacked the AAP in Punjab

There Is No Govt In Punjab: Sukhbir Badal

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sukhbir Singh Badal has attacked the AAP government in Punjab over the law and order situation in the state after a Shiv Sena leader was shot dead in Amritsar on Friday.

Badal said that “there is no such thing as a government in Punjab” while attacking the government.
“Shiromani Akali Dal has always stood for peace and communal harmony and that remained the top priority of Sardar Parkash Singh Badal-led govts since 1997. Today’s incident in Amritsar is yet another reminder that there is no such thing as a govt in Punjab,” he said.

He further said that there is a collapse of law and order and appealed to the Punjab government to preserve peace in the state.

“There is an absolute collapse of will to govern, maintain peace, law, and order and to ensure safety and security of life & property of people. Violence in any form is highly condemnable. Those in charge of running the state must not take peace & communal harmony in Punjab for granted,” he said.

“I appeal to them to find time from their politicking to attend to the sensitive and most crucial task of preserving peace. I appeal to the people and to all political parties to join hands for a united initiative to save Punjab and Punjabis from any conspiracy to set the state ablaze,” he said further.

Goyal On Uniform Civil Code

Failing On Every Front: Goyal Lashes Out At AAP

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday lashed out at the Aad Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the national capital, accusing it of ‘failing on every front.

Amid the escalating war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the AAP over the fast declining air quality in Delhi, the senior BJP leader claimed that the ‘hollow propaganda’ of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his party had been exposed and the people were saddened by the government’s failed promises.
Goyal said the people will give a fitting reply to the AAP government’s failed promises in the upcoming electoral battles. Buoyed by its resounding mandate in Punjab, the Kejriwal-led party will contest the upcoming Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat in a bid to extend its national footprint.

Speaking to ANI, the union commerce minister said, “Delhi government is failing on every front. The people will give a befitting reply to this. The people of Delhi are saddened by the hollow propaganda.”

The senior BJP leader claimed that the people in the national capital are determined to bring his party back to power not only at the Centre but also in Delhi in the next Assembly elections. “The people of Delhi have made up their minds to bring the BJP back to power at the Centre and the union territory. We are all set to come back to power,” Goyal said.

The BJP and the AAP are currently embroiled in a blame game on the worsening air quality in Delhi, which the former has blamed on alleged rising incidents of stubble burning in Punjab.

However, the AAP hit back claiming that Punjab was being singled out when other states, including the BJP-ruled Haryana, were also to blame for the prevailing situation. In a joint press conference with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday, Kejriwal said stubble burning was a ‘North Indian problem’ and the central government needs to step in and find a sustainable solution to the problem.

The BJP had earlier accused Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia of corruption in rolling out the new liquor policy. While Sisodia is facing a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the CBI, the new liquor policy has since been rolled back and the old policy restored.

The AAP had, however, denied any foul play and accused the BJP-led Centre of a witchhunt against Sisodia. (ANI)

Yamuna Danger Mark

Yamuna Continues To Flow Above Danger Mark In Delhi

With the regular increase in the water level, the Yamuna on Wednesday continued to flow above the danger mark in the national capital.

Although the danger mark for river Yamuna is 205.33 meters, it reached the 206.59-meter mark at 7 a.m. today.
Notably, as a result of heavy rainfall in Delhi for three consecutive days, the river crossed its danger mark on Tuesday afternoon after reaching 206.30 meters.

On Tuesday, owing to the danger caused by the rise in water level, the northern railways suspended the rail traffic over the old Yamuna Bridge from 4:00 pm (on Tuesday).

Consequently, a number of short-terminated and short-originated trains were also canceled or diverted by the northern railways.

The list of canceled trains included Delhi-Saharanpur Special, Delhi-Saharanpur Express, Delhi-Aligarh Special, Shamli-Delhi Special, Aligarh-Delhi Special, and Panipat-Delhi Special (JCO 28.09.22).

The Delhi – Kathgodam SK Express via New Delhi – Sahibabad, Delhi – Katihar Champaran Humsafar Express via New Delhi – Sahibabad, Jaiselmer – Jammu Tawi Shalimar Express via New Delhi – Sahibabad, Amritsar – Katihar Express via New Delhi – Sahibabad and Delhi – Haridwar Express via New Delhi – Sahibabad were diverted as per the notification from northern railways.

The Hazrat Nizamuddin – Ghaziabad Special was also scheduled to take a short termination at Delhi, and Aligarh – Delhi Special took it at Ghaziabad.

Delhi – Shamli – Saharanpur Special from Delhi Shahdara, Delhi – Khurja Special from Delhi Shahdara, Khurja – Delhi Special from Delhi Shahdara, Saharanpur – Delhi Special from Delhi Shahdara also originated shortly, according to the information received from the northern railways.

Meanwhile, due to incessant rains in the national capital, many roads have been affected by waterlogging, uprooting of trees, and potholes.

However, the India Meteorological Department in its Delhi forecast for the next seven days predicted a partly cloudy sky till October 3 and a generally cloudy sky with little rain on October 4. (ANI)

Delhi Excise Policy Case: ED Summons AAP’s Durgesh Pathak

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday summoned senior Aam Adami Party (AAP) leader and Rajinder Nagar MLA Durgesh Pathak in the Delhi excise policy case.

Taking to Twitter, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said, “What does our MCD incharge has to do with Delhi govt’s liquor policy? Is their target liquor policy or MCD elections?”
Notably, Pathak is the party’s in-charge of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls.

Notably, the central agencies are probing the Delhi excise policy case on the recommendation of Governor VK Saxena, following which the CBI raided Manish Sisodia’s house earlier in August.

Saxena had claimed that Sisodia also extended financial favours to the liquor licensees much after the tenders had been awarded and thus caused huge losses to the exchequer.

Sisodia was among 15 others booked in an FIR filed by the CBI. Excise officials, liquor company executives, dealers, some unknown public servants and private persons have been booked in the case.

It was alleged that irregularities were committed including modifications in the excise policy and undue favours were extended to the license holders including waiver or reduction in licence fee, an extension of L-1 license without approval etc.

The excise policy was passed in Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Cabinet in the middle of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic in 2021.

However, the Delhi government’s version is that the policy was formulated to ensure the generation of optimum revenue, and eradicate the sale of spurious liquor or non-duty paid liquor in Delhi, besides improving user experience. A report on July 8 by Delhi’s Chief Secretary established prima facie violations of GNCTD Act 1991, Transaction of Business Rules (ToBR) 1993, Delhi Excise Act 2009 and Delhi Excise Rules 2010.

The Chief Secretary’s report indicated substantively financial quid pro quo at the top political level and that the Delhi excise policy was implemented with the sole aim of benefitting private liquor barons for financial benefits to individuals at the highest rungs of the government leading up to Manish Sisodia.

In the latest development in the case, ED on Friday conducted raids at Robin Distilleries.

Earlier on September 6, raids were conducted in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Telangana, and Maharashtra. (ANI)

ACB Gets Amanatullah’s Custody For Four Days In Waqf Board Case

A special court on Saturday granted a four-day remand to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to interrogate Amanatullah Khan, AAP MLA from Okhla, in a case related to the alleged misappropriation of Delhi Waqf Board funds during his tenure as chairman.

Special CBI Judge Vikas Dhull granted the remand after hearing the submission of counsels for ACB and AAP MLA. Amanatullah Khan was arrested on Friday. He was produced in court on Saturday. His bail will be heard after the expiry of the remand.

ACB sought a 14-day remand to interrogate Amanatullah Khan in order to unearth the conspiracy in the matter and to arrest other accused.

Additional public prosecutors Atul Srivastava and Manish Rawat submitted that the case is of misappropriation of Waqf fund during the tenure of the accused as chairman.

The prosecutor argued that the accused appointed on the board his relatives and near and dear in violation of rules and regulations.

The prosecutor also produced in court a diary to show there was evidence related to violations of norms against the accused. It was also alleged that there were entries in the diary, some mentioning amounts to the tune of crores of rupees, to indicate there was wrong-doing.

It was also mentioned that four teams were constituted and led by ACP Rajender went to investigate the matter. However, the ACP was also manhandled and beaten by the people. Three FIRs have been lodged in this regard.

The prosecutor also referred to a statement of one Hamid Ali from whom rupees 12 Lakh cash, one country-made pistol and cartridges were recovered. the prosecution claimed that Ali said he is in the property business and was looking after the finances of Amanatullah.

The prosecution also produced some documents of a property in the New Friends Colony worth 14 crores. Sale documents of properties at Telangana, Uttarakhand and other many places were also produced in the court.

It was also alleged that the AAP MLA was also an accused in former Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash assault case.

In response to a query by the court, the prosecutor said there were 15 properties and there was misappropriation of rent. The accused has not disclosed this amount, they claimed.

The court asked who was the complainant in this case. This case was registered on the complaint of Hafiz Irashad Qureshi, the prosecutor replied.

While opposing the remand application the senior advocate Rahul Mehra for AAP MLA submitted there were no documents and material to establish the allegations levelled by the prosecution.

He said that it is alleged the funds of widows are misused. Absolutely no documents to relate to how the find was misappropriated. It is a fishing and roving inquiry to extract admission, he said.

Mehra further argued that there is umbrella protection for members of the board who are working in the good faith and something is done out of the provisions and scope of this Waqf Act. He argued that there are irregularities in relation to appointments, that can not be called illegality. Where is the illegality in the appointment of the employees’ board may appoint according to its need?

The senior advocate argued that the accused is not to prove that he is innocent. They (the prosecution) have to prove that he is guilty. (ANI)
