400 Maoist Cadres Surrendering Every Year: IG Bastar

More than 400 Maoist cadres are surrendering every year following the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy under which they are given all kinds of facilities including financial assistance, said Sundarraj P, Inspector General of Police of Bastar Range.

“On average, more than 400 Maoist cadres are surrendering every year. A special campaign named “Lone Varratu” has been conducted in District Dantewada for this purpose and results are great,” said Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P while interacting with ANI on Tuesday.
IG further stated that the majority of leaders of the CPI Maoist organizations are usually from the states outside Chhattisgarh like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

“The senior leaders of the CPI Maoist organizations are usually from the states outside Chhattisgarh like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. In the past they misguided the local youths and women in the name of Jal, Jungle, and Jameen through compulsion,” said the IG.

“After getting recruited by the organization when the local youths got introduced to the reality of Maoist, that in the last 22 years, 1700 people were killed by them alleging them of being informers. So after witnessing the anti-development face of Maoist, these local youths surrendered under the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, “he added further.

Sundarraj P said they have full faith that other Maoist cadres will soon leave violence and understand the real face of Maoists and join the mainstream of the society and contribute to the region’s development for peace and security.

A former woman Naxalite who now leads the security forces during anti Naxals – operation as she has joined Chhattisgarh’s police force says, “Most people have joined the Naxal organization because of compulsion, majority of the leaders and commanders who take decision are from Andhra and not form Chhattisgarh’s Bastar.”

“In 2012 I got married to the organization only but after getting injured during an ambush I surrendered. When security forces use to raid the village we have to run for life, so … I decided to surrender thinking that I would get some job and if not then we would work as daily wage laborers,” said the former Naxalite.

On 22 April, the State Hawk force and police team killed two women Naxals carrying a reward of Rs 14 lakh each in an encounter in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district. (ANI)

Andhra CM IN former MP's Murder case

Andhra CM’s Uncle Arrested In Former MP’s Murder

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday arrested YS Bhaskar Reddy, uncle of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in connection with the alleged murder of former MP YS Vivekananda Reddy, said sources.

The deceased YS Vivekananda Reddy was a former MLA, a former member of the Lok Sabha and the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council. He was found dead at his residence on March 15, 2019.
Further details are awaited in the matter.

In January, the Supreme Court asked Telangana High Court to consider afresh, on merit, the CBI’s plea seeking cancellation of bail to Gangi Reddy in connection with the alleged murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy.

A bench of justices MR Shah and CT Ravikumar observed that in a case where an accused is released on default and thereafter on the filing of the chargesheet, a strong case is made out from the chargesheet and his bail can be cancelled on merit.

Initially, a case was registered by the local police in Pulivendula.

Subsequently, a case under Section 302, read with Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, was registered. A special Investigation Team was constituted by the state government to probe the alleged killing.

During the course of the investigation, the respondent accused was arrested on March 28, 2019. The statutory period of 90 days lapsed on June 26, 2019.

On the very next day of lapsing of 90 days, the respondent accused filed a bail application for default bail, which was allowed by a local court in Pulivendula on June 27, 2019. The accused was released on bail as per the order.

Subsequently and pursuant to the order passed by the High Court dated March 11, 2020, an investigation in the case was given to CBI, which alleged that the investigation revealed that a conspiracy was hatched between four accused along with some other persons to kill the deceased and there were some influenced persons behind the said conspiracy.

CBI filed the initial chargesheet on October 26, 2021, and named the accused. Thereafter the CBI filed an application before the Special Court for cancellation of the bail granted to the respondents, which came to be dismissed by the learned Trial Court vide order dated November 30, 2021.

Thereafter, CBI moved to the High Court which also rejected the agency’s plea. (ANI)

Chandrababu Concerned Over Rising Farmers Suicides

Chandrababu: Concerned Over Rising Farmer’s Suicides

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday expressed serious concern over the “rising number of farmers suicides” in the State.

In a series of tweets, Naidu said that without focusing on such serious public issues, it is really ridiculous that the State government is again talking about united Andhra Pradesh. The State that created history once in the progress of agriculture and aquaculture has recorded 1,673 suicides by farmers in the past three years, Naidu said.
The anti-farmer policies being adopted by the State Government are throwing the agriculturists into a deep debt burden, he said, adding that lack of Minimum Support Price (MSP) and withdrawal of subsidies are forcing them to commit suicides. The State Government is adopting a vengeful attitude towards the common man and is harassing the people for no reason, which is also resulting in a large number of people taking away their lives, he said.

The TDP chief further said when such serious issues are haunting the people throwing them into disappointment and depression, the YSRCP government, instead of focussing on them, is irresponsibly making statements on united Andhra Pradesh, which is not in their hands. This is nothing but to throw the public into utter confusion and also to divert the public attention from these serious issues, he stated.

The YSRCP leaders who did not open their mouths on the funds that are due to the State as per the provisions of the State Reorganisation Act are now making statements on united Andhra Pradesh only to misguide the people on its failures, he said.

In fact, the state suffered more losses due to the YSRCP rule rather than the State bifurcation, added Naidu. (ANI)
