AAP Party in opposition meet

AAP To Attend Opposition Meet In Bengaluru: Raghav

Following the Congress decision to oppose Centre’s ordinance related to the control of administrative services in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday announced that it will attend the second opposition party meeting that is scheduled to take place in Karnataka’s Bengaluru on July 17-18.

AAP MP Raghav Chaddha, while speaking to the media after the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting confirmed the same and said, “As Congress has also made its stand clear on the black ordinance, it is decided that the party under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal will take part in the meeting of like-minded parties in Bengaluru on July 17-18.”
The AAP called a PAC meeting of the party on Sunday.

The opposition meet in Bengaluru is scheduled with the purpose of uniting the opposition to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming general assembly polls in 2024.

Top leaders of at least 24 political parties would attend the second Opposition unity meeting being convened by Congress in Bengaluru.

Significantly, a mega opposition meeting was held in Bihar’s Patna on June 23.

The AAP asked Congress to clear its stand on the centre’s ordinance, which was brought by the central government regarding the transfer and posting of group-A officers in Delhi.

After the first Opposition meeting, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had said that unless the Congress publicly denounced the ordinance it would be “very difficult” for it to be a part of any coalition that includes the grand old party.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Sunday said that the party’s stand on the same is ‘very clear’ and it is going to oppose it in the parliament.

“Congress’ stand on this is very clear, we will oppose it,” Venugopal said while speaking to ANI.

The BJP-led central government brought the ordinance on the transfer and posting of bureaucrats in Delhi in May, virtually negating a Supreme Court verdict giving the elected government in Delhi the control over services matter.

The ordinance seeks to set up a National Capital Civil Service Authority for the transfer of and disciplinary proceedings against Group-A officers from the DANICS cadre.

Transfer and postings of all officers of the Delhi government were under the executive control of the lieutenant governor before the May 11 verdict of the apex court.

The AAP had been counting on the support of the Congress, which has 31 MPs in the Rajya Sabha. The BJP does not have a majority in the Upper House of Parliament.

CM Kejriwal had even held one-on-one meetings with top Opposition leaders across the country, soliciting their support on the Ordinance issue. (ANI)

Chandrayaan-3 Will Lift Off On July 14: ISRO Chief

Director of Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO), S Somanath, has announced that the Chandrayaan-3, India’s planned third lunar exploration mission, will be launched on July 14 at 2.35 pm.

The ISRO chief made the remark on Day-1 of the Space Economy Leaders Meet held in Bengaluru on Thursday as part of India’s G20 Presidency. The meeting saw a discussion on the possibilities of bilateral partnership in sharing space economy.
On the launch of Chandrayaan-3, Somanath said, “On July 14 at 2.35 pm, Chandrayaan-3 will lift off and if everything goes well, it will land (on the moon) on August 23…the date is decided based on when is the sunrise on the moon, it will depend on the calculations, but if it gets delayed then we will have to keep the landing for the next month in September.”

He also said ISRO’s prime objective was to enable a safe and soft landing of Chandrayaan-3.

“Our main objective is safe and soft landing, all equipment will be fine if it goes safe and there is a soft landing. We are good with the landing system. Rover will come out after landing, rover has 6 wheels, and we are expecting the rover will work for 14 days on the moon…With the support of multiple cameras on the rover we will receive images. We have a solar panel on the rover. We already tested it, and we have good results with the battery,” Somanath added.

The ISRO chief also informed that partnerships between space agencies, industries, and start-ups were discussed in the meeting.

On the challenges in the space economy, he said, “Challenges in the space economy, first and foremost, is it is capital intensive. So you have to invest heavily to create the capability. And the return of investment comes very late.”

Representatives from 86 space companies took part in the meeting.

India’s G20 sherpa, Amitabh Kant said India’s space economy was experiencing rapid growth with increasing revenue and more commercial actors entering the sector. He added that studies suggest it could become a USD 1 trillion sector in the coming decades.

“This exponential growth necessitates support from governments worldwide. That’s why we are discussing space as a formal element within the G20 meeting,” Kant said.

MoS, Ministry External Affairs, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, said India has more than 400 private space companies working to harness this sector.

“We also have a student outreach program. This program is designed to cultivate scientific temper among young minds. Space technology can bring immense predictability to the varieties of climate changes, agricultural harvest, food security, natural disasters, and even the distribution of economic drought. These uncertainties unfold the worst impact on developing countries,” Singh said.

Day-1 of the Space Economy Leaders Meet saw participation from 27 countries and 33 industries.

It showcased India’s industry capabilities in the space sector. On the concluding day, there will be a session on Space Industry partnership. (ANI)

Tharoor on Mis governance In Bengaluru

Cong A Respectable Alternative To Misgovernance In Bengaluru: Tharoor

Hitting out at Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government in Karnataka, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Sunday said people of the poll-bound southern state have endured misgovernance in the last four years.

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on Sunday, Tharoor said when there is misgovernance and “there is nothing to see”, people inevitably wonder what they need the government for.
“When there is misgovernance and there is nothing to see, people inevitably wonder what they need the government for. People are interested very much in seeing the Congress as a respectable alternative to the misgovernance they’ve endured in the last 4 years,” said Tharoor.

He said there are essential needs of the people that have not been met by the BJP government and the Congress has already come up with specific promises to fulfil people’s needs.

The Congress MP said IT investment in the state has been plummeting for the last 3-4 years.

“Bengaluru has such great potential. It is so sad that the city, which was evidently the most favoured destination for IT investment till a few years ago, has seen investments plummeting over the last 3-4 years,” he said.

On Sharad Pawar’s statement that there was no need for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Hindenburg-Adani row, he said that NCP chief’s logic can be understood as the ruling party will have a 50 per cent majority in the panel, if one is formed to probe the claims against the Adani Group.

“His (Sharad Pawar) logic can be understood because the rule for constituting a JPC is that the ruling party will be part of it, and above 50 per cent of members in the JPC will be from the NDA, if one is formed. But we still want the Opposition to ask questions and seek answers and evidence through the JPC. The NCP stood with us in the Parliament and during our protest march to Vijay Chowk,” said Thaoor.

With the Karnataka Assembly polls drawing near, a meeting of senior Congress leaders regarding the selection of candidates for the Karnataka elections will be held at party president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence this evening.

Rahul Gandhi is likely to attend this meeting.

The Congress is yet to announce the names of candidates for 58 seats.

The Congress, on March 25, announced its first list of 124 candidates for the Assembly polls. The list included former chief minister Siddaramaiah and the party’s state president DK Shivakumar.

Elections in Karnataka are slated to be held in a single phase on May 10 and the counting of votes will be held on May 13. Former chief minister Siddaramaiah will be contesting from the Varuna constituency while DK Shivakumar has been fielded in Kanakapura.

Siddaramaiah had expressed his interest to contest from the Kolar constituency but the Congress High Command instructed him to drop the plan following disagreements between the party’s local leaders in the constituency. The party has fielded M Roopakala from the Kolar Gold Field constituency.

The ruling BJP currently holds a majority in the Assembly with 119 seats while the Congress and the JD(S) have 75 and 28 seats respectively.

All three key political players in the state — BJP, Congress and the JD(S) — have been exchanging barbs as their poll campaign moves through the gears. The latter are attempting to corner the ruling BJP on the issue of corruption.

The model code of conduct is currently in force in the state. (ANI)

Lucky Ali Bengaluru Farm

Lucky Ali Claims His Bengaluru Farm Encroached By Land Mafia

Singer Lucky Ali has taken to social media to seek help regarding a property he owns in Bengaluru.

In a long Facebook post on Sunday evening, Lucky Ali claimed that he has become a target of an alleged land grab by a mafia in Bengaluru. In fact, he has also accused an IAS officer of being a conspirator in this whole matter.
He shared a letter on Facebook that he wrote to the DGP of Karnataka mentioning the names of the accused members of the land mafia and an IAS officer.

Ali is currently in Dubai, but his farm is at Kenchenahalli Yelahanka, Bengaluru. He stated that his family and children are alone on the farm and that he is yet to receive a satisfactory response.

He has also accused the local police of failing to assist him and siding with the “encroachers.”

In the letter, Lucky Ali mentioned that his farm, a “Trust Property located in Kenchenahalli Yelahanka”, is under illegal encroachment by “Sudhir Reddy (and Madhu Reddy) from the Bangalore Land Mafia”.

“With the help of his wife who is an IAS Officer by the name of Rohini Sindhuri they are misusing state resources for their personal gain. They are forcibly & illegally coming inside my farm and refusing to show the relevant documents,” he added.

“My legal counsel is informing me that this is totally illegal and they don’t have the court order to come inside the property as we are in possession, and living there for the past 50 years..” he wrote.

“I am getting no help from the local police, who are in fact supporting the encroachers and are indifferent to our situation and the legal status of our land.”

“Dear Sir, I request your help to stop this illegal activity of them trying to prove a false possession before the final court hearing on December 7th. Please help us as I have no choice other than to take this to the Public,” he concluded. (ANI)

Cong Is United, There Is No Rift: KPCC Chief

Following allegations about a rift erupting in Karnataka Congress over ticket distribution, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President DK Shivakumar on Wednesday clarified that the entire Congress is united and they are one.

“We don’t have any rift. The entire Congress is united. We are one, and we will win the election,” said Shivakumar while commenting on reports of a rift in the party over ticket distribution.
Shivakumar was speaking to ANI and said that he is confident that the people will vote in favour of the Congress party.

“People of Karnataka want to throw out BJP government. It is the most corrupt government in this country. People will come to realize and witness this,” he said.

There were reports about Congress party leaders fighting over ticket distribution for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly election.

The next Karnataka Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to be held in or before May 2023 to elect all 224 members of the state’s Legislative Assembly.

Shivakumar had earlier reached the state election commission office after Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala had launched an attack against Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai alleging that he was directly involved in electoral fraud that has come to light in Bengaluru.

Surjewala had demanded a high-level probe in the matter and claimed a private agency named “Chilume” was authorised by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) – the urban local body of Bengaluru, to carry out a door-to-door survey of voters in the city. (ANI)

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai hits back congress

Bommai Hits Back At Cong Amid Voters Data Theft Charge

The Congress government made use of the entire information of the state but still lost the election, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Thursday, adding that the Congress leaders were issuing ‘desparate’ statements.

Speaking to reporters on the charges by Congress leaders on the misuse of the election nomination paper, the CM said the previous Congress government headed by chief minister Siddaramaiah spent Rs 130 crore to carry out a socio-economic survey of the state, which included caste, sub-caste among other aspects and prepared a huge document.
Instead of making it public, the same was used for the election purpose, the CM alleged.

The current government was in no way connected with it, the CM said, adding that if this thing happened at a lower level, it will be enquired and the guilty will be punished.

Earlier on Thursday, Congress attacked the Karnataka chief minister alleging that he was directly involved in the electoral fraud that has come to light in Bengaluru.

“Shocking expose reveals that those in power, including Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, are responsible for theft of voters data, fraud and impersonation,” Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said at a press conference in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Surjewala demanded a high-level probe in the matter claiming that a private agency named ‘Chilume’ was authorised by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) — the urban local civic body of Bengaluru — to carry out a door-to-door survey of voters in the city.

He alleged that the agency collected the personal details of voters, which tantamounts to a breach of privacy, adding that it was a ‘fraud’ on Bangaloreans.

“CM Bommai, his officials, govt officers, BBMP people, and the state election authority are partners in crime,” Surjewala alleged.

The Congress leader claimed there was no prior intimation on the door-to-door survey, and CM Bommai was responsible for electoral fraud.

“CM Bommai is the BBMP’s minister in charge and its chief commissioner is Bengaluru’s electoral officer. A private entity, Chilume Edu Institute, applies for permission for voter awareness. On being permitted, they commit the fraud of collecting voter data by impersonating booth-level officers,” he alleged.

An FIR should be filed against him (Bommai) and he should be arrested, the Congress leader said.

Surjewala also claimed that the agency had a freehand and its staff were given booth level officer (BLO) cards.

“The agency did not even upload voters’ information on Garuda — ECI app — but on Digital Sameeksha app, which is owned by a private company, for use by MPs, MLAs, and political parties,” Surjewala claimed. (ANI)

Bharat Gaurav Kashi Darshan Train

Modi Flags Off Vande Bharat Express, Bharat Gaurav Kashi Darshan Train In Bengaluru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat Express at Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Railway Station in Bengaluru.

This is the fifth Vande Bharat Express train in the country and the first such train in South India.
“It will enhance connectivity between the industrial hub of Chennai and the Tech and Startup hub of Bengaluru and the famous tourist city of Mysuru,” the PMO said.

PM Modi also flagged Bharat Gaurav Kashi Darshan Train at KSR railway station in Bengaluru.

Karnataka is the first state to take up this train under the Bharat Gaurav scheme in which the Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Railways are working together to send pilgrims from Karnataka to Kashi.

“The pilgrims will be provided with comfortable stay and guidance for visiting Kashi, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj,” the PMO said.

The Prime Minister paid floral tributes to the statues of saint poet Kanakadasa and Maharshi Valmiki at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru.

Later, at around 11:30 am, PM Modi will inaugurate Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport. Thereafter, at around 12 noon, he will unveil the 108 feet bronze statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, followed by a public function in Bengaluru at around 12:30 am. At around 3:30 pm, PM Modi will attend the 36th Convocation ceremony of Gandhigram Rural Institute at Dindigul in Tamil Nadu.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport at Bengaluru, built at a cost of around Rs 5,000 crore. The terminal will double the passenger handling capacity of the airport to 5-6 crore passengers per annum, from the current capacity of about 2.5 crores, according to the PMO.

Terminal 2 is designed as a tribute to the Garden city of Bengaluru and the passenger experience is meant to be a “walk in the garden”. Passengers will travel through 10,000+ sqmts of green walls, hanging gardens and outdoor gardens.

“The Airport has already established a benchmark in sustainability with 100 percent usage of renewable energy across the campus. Terminal 2 has been created with sustainability principles woven into the design. Based on the sustainability initiatives, Terminal 2 will be the largest terminal in the world to be pre-certified platinum rating by US GBC (green building council) prior to commencing operations. The theme of ‘Naurasa’ unites all the commissioned artworks for Terminal 2. The artworks reflect the heritage and culture of Karnataka as well as the broader Indian ethos,” the PMO said.

Overall, the design and architecture of Terminal 2 have been influenced by four guiding principles: Terminal in a garden, sustainability, technology, and art and culture.

The Prime Minister will unveil a 108-meter-long bronze statue of Sri Nadaprabhu Kempegowda. It is being built to commemorate the contribution of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, the founder of the city, towards the growth of Bengaluru.

“Conceptualized and sculpted by Ram V Sutar of Statue of Unity fame, 98 tonnes of bronze and 120 tonnes of steel have gone into making this statue,” PMO said. (ANI)
