Highlighting the country’s progress in the technological space, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday said that India will become the hub of drone technology and will require at least 1 lakh drone pilots by next year.

Addressing the gathering after flagging off the ‘Drone Yatra 2.0’ in Chennai, the Union Minister said, technology is truly transforming the world at a rapid rate and it has never been more relevant than now as its applications are solving some of the most pressing problems on the planet.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thakur said, “PM once remarked that ‘India has a billion solutions to a million problems.’ As a country of a billion plus people, India is increasingly leveraging technology to stay ahead of the curve.”

Detailing the advancements in drone technology in India, he said that during the Beating Retreat, the entire nation was mesmerised by the spectacular display of 1000 ‘Made in India’ drones by Indian start-up ‘Botlab Dynamics’ led by IIT alumni. As a part of the SWAMITVA scheme (Survey of villages and mapping with improvised technology in village areas), the survey of the land and houses is being prepared through drones in the villages, he added.

Drones are increasingly being used to sprinkle pesticides and nano fertilizers in the fields in rural villages.

“During COVID, drones were used to deliver medicines and vaccines in remote areas. Drones are used in Indian cricket. Drones are used for sprinkling pesticides in remote areas. 100 kisan drones placed across India,” the Minister said.

He said that recently, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had granted conditional exemption to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the deployment of drones for live aerial cinematography of the India Cricket Season in 2021.

He remarked that as part of the “Kisan Drone Yatra”, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi 100 Kisan Drones were sent to villages across the country to spray pesticides. He quoted PM Modi’s remark that “Kisan Drone is now the beginning of a new age revolution in this direction.”

Thakur reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting the use of technology in the agriculture sector in order to increase farm production.

He said today, Drone technology is essential for various fields from defence to agriculture and health to entertainment. India is also moving towards creating a strong drone manufacturing ecosystem in the country through schemes like Production Linked Incentive (PLI), he added

The Union Minister said that the Modi government strives to boost the demand for cutting-edge drone technology and services in a three-pronged approach. An effective policy that is the new Drone Rules, 2021; providing incentives in the form of PLI for Drones and Drone Components; and creating indigenous demand wherein 12 Ministries of the Central government have been given the task to take it forward, he said.

Stating that India will require at least 1 lakh pilots in 2023, he said that each pilot will earn at least Rs 50,000-80,000 a month.

While noting that currently there are over 200 drone start-ups operating in the country, the minister said that this number will increase to generate lakhs of new job opportunities for the youth.

Effective policies, incentives to industry, and ‘ease of doing business’ is providing the much-needed impetus to the drone sector which shows its huge potential in India, Thakur said.

“Aligned to PM Modi’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ I am confident that the growing innovation and cutting-edge drone technology ecosystem will ensure a self-reliant and self-sustainable New India in the Amrit Kaal,” he added. (ANI)

After paying floral tribute to former chief minister J Jayalalithaa at Jaya Memorial in Chennai, ousted AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam said, “Only if we reunite can we grow the party together.”

The six times chief minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa died on December 5, 2016, after undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai.

On October 19, Sasikala had said that she is ready to face all enquiries against her over the death of Jayalalithaa.

In a statement, Sasikala said, “I am not taking this blame as a big thing. This is not new to me. There are a lot of ways to make me politically weak. We lived our lives like that only.”

“Now they have made Arumughaswamy Commission report as politics. No matter how many times they probe me but the truth will not change. There is no suspicion of our Amma (Jayalalitha) death. I never interfered in the medical treatment of Jayalalitha. I have not studied medicine. Apollo hospital is not a hospital where they need my opinion to treat Jayalalitha. I deny all the allegations against me from the report. Regarding this, I am ready to face all inquiries on this.” (ANI)

ED on money laundering case

ED Searches In 16 Locations, 3 Metros On Money Laundering Charges

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has searched 16 premises across Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi covering the office and residential premises of a few firms and their promoters under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.

They are Securekloud Technologies Limited, Pro Fin Capital Services Limited, Quantum Global Securities Limited (QGSL), Unity Global Financial Services Pvt Limited, and Desert River Capital Pvt Ltd.
In this matter, the searches conducted led to the seizure of Rs 1. 04 crores in cash, gold, and diamond jewellery, the identification of immovable properties of more than Rs 30 crore and other movable assets in various DEMAT accounts as well as the seizure of incriminating documents and digital evidence.

The agency has initiated a money laundering investigation on the basis of an FIR filed on February 02, 2019, which was filed by Suresh Venkatachari, the promoter, and CEO of Securekloud Technologies Limited.

PMLA investigation revealed that the directors and beneficial owners of these share brokerage and financial services companies have transferred the shares worth Rs.160 crore off-market and subsequently sold the same to generate huge proceeds of crime, the agency said in a statement on Friday.

“The investigation also revealed that the complaint lodged by the Promoter of STL was misleading as he and his CFO are involved in the larger conspiracy of the cheating public by way of inflating the books of the company, diverting funds of the company to the unrelated business activities of the companies having stakes of CFO and CEO of STL (Securekloud),” it added.

Further investigation is under progress, the agency said. (ANI)

Airtel Launches 5G Services In Pune | Lokmarg

Reliance Jio Formally Launches 5G Services

Reliance Jio 5G is here. As announced two months back, the telecom operator on Saturday has finally launched the new-age high-speed services in the country.

Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani has launched the services in Rajasthan from the famous Shrinathji temple in Rajsamand.
This year, it aims to launch 5G services in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.

The telecom operator intends to expand its 5G network to each and every town, tehsil, and talukas across the country by December of 2023, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani said on August 29 while announcing the 5G launch in India.

Earlier this year, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani resigned from the board of Reliance Jio, thereby handing over reigns to his elder son Akash Ambani.

Meanwhile, Jio will deploy the latest version of 5G called standalone 5G. It is estimated to invest Rs 2 lakh crore in 5G infrastructure.

Launched six years ago, Jio has created multiple world records during its rollout of the largest 4G network in the shortest period of time. Jio’s 4G network provides the highest quality, most affordable digital services to over 400 million loyal and delighted customers. Jio is expected to now raise the bar even further with its 5G services.

Reliance Jio Infocomm has acquired spectrum in 700MHz, 800MHz, 1800MHz, 3300MHz, and 26GHz bands in the recently-concluded 5G auctions conducted by the Department of Telecommunications, where the government received around Rs 1.5 lakh worth of bids. Reliance Jio, Adani group, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea were the four major participants in the spectrum auction.

Following the spectrum auction, the government issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom service providers in mid-August while asking them to prepare for the rollout of 5G services.

The Department of Telecom and the Ministry of Information Technology have been pushing the mobile phone makers and telecom operators for the updation of 5G-related software in the devices and putting in place the requisite infrastructure for faster rollout of the new-age telecom services.

About 5G:

5G is the fifth-generation mobile network capable of transmitting a large set of data at a very rapid speed.

In comparison to 3G and 4G, 5G has a very low latency which will enhance user experiences in various sectors. Low latency describes the efficiency of processing a very high volume of data messages with a minimal delay.

The large-scale 5G rollout is also expected to bring more development in remote data monitoring sectors such as mining, warehousing, telemedicine, and manufacturing, among others. (ANI)

gold prices

Gold Prices Seen Strengthening Ahead Of Diwali

Commodity experts say the sharp rise in crude prices, which rose about 12 percent in the past week, is mainly responsible for the rally in gold rates. But there are other factors at play as well. Rising global inflation and the volatile stock market have made the yellow metal a “safe” investment bet among investors.

The spot prices of gold are headed upwards of $1,780 (approx. Rs 1.47 lakh) per ounce whereas MCX gold rate per 10gm could reach Rs 53,000 by Diwali, the experts say, adding that some profit-booking could also take place. The depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar to a record low of 82.40 is, however, a critical variable that underpins domestic gold prices.
After missing action for some years, gold prices in Delhi witnessed some movement at the beginning of 2022 as the volatile equity markets forced investors to seek safe-haven assets like gold.

On Sunday morning, however, gold rates remained flat in Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Delhi’s rate for 10 gm of 22-carat gold was Rs 48,010, and it was trading at Rs52,370/10 gm for 24-carat gold.

The rate in Chennai for 10 gm of 22-carat gold was Rs 48,400 and the gold rate of 24-carat gold was Rs 52,800. The rate of the precious metal in Kolkata per 10 gm of 22 carat stands at Rs47,850 and the rate of 10 gm of 24-carat gold is at Rs 52,200. The gold rate in Mumbai per 10 gm of 22-carat has been at Rs 47,850 and Rs 52,200 per 10 gm of 24-carat gold.

The yellow metal faced resistance around the key $1,740 (Rs 1,44,128) per ounce mark in global markets last week, while at the domestic market Rs 52,100 per 10 gm mark acted as a stiff hurdle for prices. (ANI)
