At Village Bordering China, Modi Pitches For Vocal For Local

As part of the Vocal for Local initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Uttarakhand on Friday appealed to people, particularly tourists, to spend money on purchasing locally-made products.

“I appeal to all tourists in the country to spend at least 5 percent of their travel budget on buying local products,” Prime Minister Modi said at a public event held at Badrinath’s Mana, the last village bordering China.
Earlier too, he had appealed to fellow Indians on various occasions to purchase indigenous products to sustain the local economy.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for road widening projects worth around Rs 1,000 crore.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the two road widening projects – from Mana to Mana Pass (NH07) and from Joshimath to Malari (NH107B) – shall be another step towards providing last-mile all-weather road connectivity to our border areas. They Want To Make Delhi AAP-Nirbhar: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday asserted that his party is dedicated to making the national capital “Aatmanirbhar”.

“Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal gives press statements every day and publishes big advertisements. He thinks that press interviews will bring development and that people can be misled by publishing ads. AAP wants to make Delhi ‘AAPnirbhar’ while we want to make Delhi Aatmanirbhar,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah said after inaugurating the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s (MCD) Tehkhand waste-to-energy plant at Tughlakabad.
Shah in his address said that this plant can manage to process about 2,000 metric tonnes of garbage waste every day besides producing 25 megawatts of green energy.

“This plant will manage about 2000MT of garbage per day and produce 25 MW of green energy. This is a multi-dimensional, multi-purpose plant,” he said.

He further said that they will give reply to CM Kejriwal’s behavior with MCDs in a “democratic manner”.

“We will give a reply to Arvind Kejriwal’s behavior with MCDs in a democratic manner,” Shah said adding that he believed that they would establish daily waste processing facilities in Delhi by 2025 with the help of MCD.

“In future, such heaps and mountains of garbage won’t be seen,” he added.

Amit Shah further said, “People of Delhi need to decide if they like the politics of ‘Vigyapan’ (advertisement) or politics of ‘Vikas’ (development). People should also decide if they like ‘prachaar’ (campaign) politics or ‘parivartan’ (change) politics.” (ANI)

Success Of Shah’s Rally In Baramulla Shows Changing Face Of J-K

For the first time after three decades, a Union Minister went to Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir to hold a rally.
On October 5, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a rally in Baramulla. Sources said Shah’s rally got a phenomenal response from the people of the district.

As per the sources present in the rally, the highest cheering was witnessed when the Home Minister spoke about the availability of free gas cylinders for women. It is also reported that in the hilly areas of the Union Territory, women registered to get the Ujjwala scheme benefit and got two cylinders instead of one.

“The development of Jammu and Kashmir is the prime agenda of the PM Modi government at the Centre. BJP does not wish to ally with any of the regional players in J-K,” a top BJP source told ANI.

Another source told ANI that, “the briefing given to the security agencies in the region is to ensure complete wipe out of terrorism and its supporters.”

The changing face of Jammu and Kashmir was evident from the fact that crowds turned up in huge numbers and it was a responsive gathering. “The entire gathering of over 40,000 joined in as the Home Minister shouted the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. Something that had never been said here, the source added.

Shah met the family of a slain police officer in Jammu and Kashmir. On the request of the family members, Union Home Minister took a call within seconds to scale a steep hill to pay floral tributes to the actual grave of the officer and meet an old relative.

“That shows what means to the Modi government as far as people of Jammu and Kashmir and the sentiments are concerned,” sources said.

The Election Commission of India has already prepared the electoral roll and is in the process of its corrections which sources said could be completed in the next couple of months as a substantial number of new voters are likely to be added to the J-K voter list.

“The Modi government’s stand remains the same. There will be no talks with Pakistan or Pakistan sympathizers,” the sources further said.

Only time will say whether BJP, which has broken records in several places including the northeast where they did not have any presence at all, is able to repeat the same performance in Jammu and Kashmir when the election will be held eventually. However, the Baramulla rally appears to be like another glass ceiling has been broken. (ANI)

Pahel is an initiative to bring development in Uttar Pradesh's rural belt

In an example, Baathipar Pathin, a remote village in Gorahi post, Khalilabad block, Sant Kabir Nagar district stands a witness to the life saving story of toddlers. Khushi, daughter of Sangita and Vijaynath was seriously infected by diarrhea for more than a week, which endangered her life and took her closer to the jaws of death.  Luckily, a street play regarding diarrhea was organised in village by Pahel workers. The devastated mother Sangita, in the absence of her migrant husband who worked as a labour in Ludhiana, Punjab, needed quick medication in order to save her child from this dangerous situation.

Looking for instant medical aid for the ailing Khushi, Sangita visited Rural Medical Practitioner (RMP) who prescribed Khushi a complete dose of Zinc-ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) combined therapy. Earnestly serving Khushi with prescribed ORS solution and Zinc syrup, Sangita saved her little daughter from the deadly infection of diarrhea. “Earlier people in the area used to medicate their children at home with homemade remedies. This practice is not only dangerous but also took many lives of infants in the area.”

Digital Empowerment

Mobile phones have reached almost all the villages, but due to the absence of internet, people are still cut off from the rest of the world. “Recently we have established a library where villagers learn computer, internet and read books etc. We are also starting a project where villagers can purchase their daily needs at home.” On asking is it an e-commerce platform, Pahel confirms: “It is not e-commerce as we are educating them with internet. Many of the villages don’t have internet till date. We are establishing free wi-fi with help of self-help groups and NGOs. With that internet we are giving them a platform where villagers will learn using internet.”  Such small-scale initiatives will involve local shopkeepers from nearby villages to market homemade products.

Challenges

Spreading awareness through limited means such as street play, pamphlets, one-to-one interactions are major initiative of  Pahel. But, resource crunch and lack of money always pose to be a big challenge. “Sometimes people don’t understand what we are talking about. For example, when we talk about solar energy they don’t accept this method at one meet-up.  Villagers feel that solar lamps can destroy their cottages or it can harmful. Similarly, using same toilet by women and men is another mental hindrance for villagers.” If you want to be a volunteer, please contact: +91 9235411007
