NIA Raids 6 States In Major Crackdown On Khalistani Gangster Nexus

The National Investigation Agency on Wednesday is conducting major raids across 6 states in 3 cases at 51 locations belonging to associates of Lawrence, Bambiha and Arsh Dalla Gangs.

In the early hours of Wednesday, NIA conducted a swift raid on the house of a liquor contractor in the village Takhtupura of Moga district in Punjab.

Gangster Arsh Dala had demanded ransom from this contractor and this contractor had given some part of the ransom to Arsh Dala. In this regard, NIA is conducting an inquiry, sources said.

The NIA also raided a gun house in the Bajpur police station area of ​​Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. NIA has raided another house in the Clementown police station area of ​​Dehradun district of Uttarakhand.

According to the information received from Dehradun Police, the NIA team is conducting raids since this morning.

According to the information received from the state police, the NIA team is checking the weapons in the gun house.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had also issued details of 43 individuals associated with the terror gangster network having links to Canada.

The NIA further asked the public to share details of their properties and assets which can be taken over by the central government.

The NIA also requested to share details about the properties/assets/businesses owned by them in their own name or in the name of their associates, friends and relatives. It has also asked to share details of their business partners, workers, employees and collection agents.

The NIA in its post issued pictures of Lawrence Bishnoi, Jasdeep Singh, Kala Jatheri alias Sandeep, Virender Pratap alias Kala Rana and Joginder Singh along with their names. It highlighted that many of these gangsters are based in Canada.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had earlier confiscated properties owned by designated Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in Chandigarh and Amritsar under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

A property confiscation notice was seen pasted outside Pannun’s residence at Sector 15 in Chandigarh.

Earlier on September 21 the agency had conducted raids at more than 1000 locations in Punjab and Haryana associated with fugitive gangster Goldy Brar. Punjab police officers along with the NIA had carried out the operation. 

Goldy Brar is among the most wanted gangsters named by the NIA. He is also suspected to be behind the recent killing of another gangster Sukha Dunike who was shot dead in the Canadian city of Winnipeg. 

Several of these wanted gangsters are said to be operating out of Canada, with close links between Khalistan sympathisers and gangsters. In 2018, during Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to Amritsar, India had handed him over a list of nine Khalistani operatives said to be in Canada. (ANI)

Dengue Outbreak In Dehradun, Prompting Urgent Action

The Raipur area of Dehradun has been engulfed by a concerning dengue fever outbreak, with reports indicating that it has become a major hotspot for the disease.

An alarming number of residents in every household within the Raipur area are grappling with dengue-related symptoms, and the situation has escalated to over 500 confirmed dengue cases in this locality alone.

This outbreak has already claimed the lives of 13 individuals in Dehradun.

According to the Health Department and Municipal Corporations, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken action by issuing stern directives to both departments.

These directives emphasize the need for immediate and comprehensive efforts to combat the dengue outbreak. The Chief Minister has urged officials to operate with utmost urgency to control the spread of the virus effectively.

Data released by the Health Department, reveals that the state of Uttarakhand has seen a staggering total of 1,106 dengue cases thus far.

An alarming 58 per cent of these cases, amounting to 640 individuals, are concentrated in Dehradun alone, making it the epicentre of the outbreak in the state.

Following Dehradun, other affected districts include Haridwar with 191 reported cases, Nainital with 99, and Udham Singh Nagar with 23 cases.

The state government is now under immense pressure to implement rigorous measures, including increased mosquito control efforts, public awareness campaigns, and swift medical intervention to curb the spread of dengue in Dehradun and across Uttarakhand.

The health and well-being of the region’s residents hang in the balance, as authorities work tirelessly to bring this alarming outbreak under control.

Residents are strongly advised to take precautionary measures, including the use of mosquito repellents, wearing long-sleeved clothing, and eliminating stagnant water sources where mosquitoes breed.

U’khand: Debris Piles Up In Amori Village Near NH After Heavy Rainfall

Amid incessant rain in Uttarakhand, debris piled up near National Highway 9 in Amori village, officials said on Sunday.

Earlier on September 1, the Almora-Haldwani Road National Highway in Uttarakhand was blocked for vehicular traffic due to debris near Kwarb Bridge, an official said.

Meanwhile, on August 25, an injured person was rescued by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) after being trapped on the Badrinath highway due to falling debris in the Chamoli district, officials said.

According to the SDRF, information was received by Kotwali in Joshimath that an injured person had been trapped due to falling debris near the Pagalnala area of Chamoli district.

An SDRF team immediately reached the spot and carried out a rescue operation in pitch-dark night.

Subsequently, the injured person was rescued and sent to the hospital for treatment. (ANI)

Uttarakhand rainfall: Part of Tapkeshwar Temple In Dehradun Collapses

A part of the famous Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun has collapsed following incessant rain. 

Devotees, who came to the temple to offer prayers on the occasion of Monday of Sawan, faced problems as the way leading to the temple’s entrance was partially blocked due to the falling of trees. 

Earlier on Wednesday, as many as 15 houses collapsed and seven cowsheds were completely destroyed in subsidence and landslides at Jakhan village, part of Madrasu gram panchayat on Langha Road, near Dehradun. 

Jakhan village is home to about 15 families, comprising 50 people. However, no loss of life was reported in these incidents, officials informed.

Heavy rains also disrupted normal life in the Kaluwala area of Dehradun last week. Rainwater entered the houses and caused waterlogging on the streets. 

According to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), information was received from the Disaster Control Room that incessant rainfall had created major waterlogging in the streets and that rainwater had also entered people’s homes in Dehradun’s Kaluwala area, disrupting daily life.

Earlier, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in the state and also reviewed the increasing water level of the Ganga river in Rishikesh.

IMD Red Alert For U’khand For August 13-14

The Indian Meteorological Department on Saturday issued a red alert for Uttarakhand for August 13 and August 14.

As per IMD, heavy rainfall is also likely over Uttarakhand on August 13 and 14. 

“Urgent red alert issued for Uttarakhand as heavy to very heavy rainfall, reaching extremely heavy levels (more than 204.4 mm), is forecasted for August 13th and 14th. Stay safe,” India Meteorological Department tweeted. 

There has been heavy rain in many districts of the state for the last couple of days, causing waterlogging and flooding and disrupting the normal lives of the people.

Earlier, five pilgrims were killed after a car they were travelling in was buried under the debris of a landslide at Tarsali under Chowki Phata in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district, police said on Saturday.

According to officials, the victims, including one from Gujarat, were on their way to Kedarnath when the incident took place on Thursday evening.

The incident also led to the blocking of the Guptkashi-Gaurikund highway leading to Kedarnath Dham for traffic on Friday, said officials, while adding that about 60 metres of the road had been badly damaged and washed away.

Many districts of the state, including Rudraprayag, have been witnessing incessant rain for the last couple of days. (ANI)

Yamunotri Highway In Uttarakhand Blocked Due To Debris

The traffic on the Yamunotri National Highway has been suspended due to the continuous debris falling at five places of Uttarkashi including Dabarkot and Jhar Jhar Gad.

“Efforts are on to open the highway by the National Highway Authority Barkot. Passengers are stranded at various places on the highway due to the closure of the highway,” according to District Disaster ManagementoOfficer, Uttarkashi.
Apart from this, the Chamiala-Budhakedar Motor road has been also closed due to excessive water and debris in Chail Gadere in Lata village in Himachal Pradesh.

The District Disaster Management Officer of Tehri District, Brijesh  Bhatt informed that due to the surge in the water level of Gadere, water and debris have entered 5-6 houses.

He told that about 0.250 hectares of agricultural land of about 15-16 families has been damaged, but there has been no loss of life or animal. PWD Ghansali and the revenue team are on the spot engaged in relief work.

Earlier, Traffic was suspended because of debris continuing to fall at many places on the Gangotri-Yamunotri National Highway, as persistent rains continue to wreak havoc in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, officials said on Wednesday.

According to the Uttarkashi District Administration, the Gangotri-Yamunotri National Highway was closed to traffic as boulders continue to fall at many places following persistent downpours in the region.

“The Gangotri Highway has reached a standstill for movement at four places including Bandarkot. Yamunotri Highway is blocked at Silkyara and other areas. JCB machines on the routes are trying to open the highway,” the Uttarkashi District Administration added.

Traffic and pilgrimage stopped on Monday as boulders continued to fall at many places on the Yamunotri Highway as torrential rains continued in Uttarkashi district, officials said. District disaster management official of Uttarkashi, Devendra Patwal, said that due to the boulders falling continuously for the last three days, the traffic on both sides of the road has come to a complete standstill.

“Significantly, due to this, there has been a break on the Yamunotri pilgrimage, leaving many commuters including pilgrims and locals passenger stranded,” the official said.

“Big boulders fell from mountains on Monday morning further exacerbating the woes of commuters,” the official said. According to the Chamoli police, a stretch of 60-70 metres of the Badrinath Highway, Kameda was washed out due to intermittent rains, following that the Highway was blocked for traffic. The police added that scores of commuters including tourists and locals were stranded on both sides of the highway.

Over 150 Students Stranded In Uttarkashi School Due To Falling Debris Rescued

Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel has rescued all students who got stranded due to the heavy debris being swept into the Kasturba Inter College in Uttarkashi district, officials said on Saturday.

Heavy rains caused water-logging in the residential school leading to the evacuation.
The SDRF was informed by the Uttarkashi Disaster Management, in the middle of the night on Thursday about students being trapped inside Kasturba Inter College due to falling debris near Gangnani.

“Acting on the information, as per the instructions of Manikant Mishra, Commandant SDRF, the SDRF rescue team immediately reached the spot with rescue equipment,” an official statement read.

About 150 students were trapped due to the debris and all of them were rescued by the SDRF rescue team in the night itself and taken to a safe place.

People from commercial hotels, shops and nearby houses in the area were taken to a safe place, urging them to leave the place immediately due to the potential danger. There was no loss of life, said officials.

Meanwhile, scores of commuters, including tourists as well as locals are stranded in Uttarkashi after the Yamunotri National Highway was blocked at many places today due to falling debris near Gangnani officials said.

Visuals from the area showed vehicles being stuck in debris, leaving commuters stranded for hours.

According to the Uttarkashi administration, the highway was blocked at many places including Chhatanga, adding that a Tehsildar was sent to take stock of the situation.

Uttarkashi district disaster management officials said that due to heavy rains near Gangnani in the Barkot area, there has been a lot of debris and stones on the Yamunotri National Highway.

“The fresh spell of rains led to water-logging in Kasturba Gandhi residential school. The school children had to be shifted to safer places,” they said.

A team each from the State Disaster Response Force team and the fire brigade was immediately sent to the spot to carry out relief work, they added.

Similarly, Badrinath National Highway near Chamoli district was also blocked in three places due to falling debris as incessant rainfall continued in the region.

As per officials, the incident left a large number of commuters stuck on both sides of the national highway for hours.

“The roadway is blocked due to debris at Nandprayag, Belakuchi, and Pagalnala on the Badrinath National Highway,” Chamoli police said in a tweet on Saturday morning.

In Uttarakhand, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places over Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Pauri and Nainital in the next 24 hours.

Magisterial Probe Ordered In Chamoli Electrocution Deaths: Dhami

Condoling the incident of Uttarakhand’s Chamoli, where 15 people were electrocuted, state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday said that orders have been given to conduct a Magisterial inquiry.

As many as 15 people died due to electrocution at the under-construction Namami Gange project, officials said.
“It is a sad incident. The district administration, police, and State Disaster and Response Fund (SDRF) have reached the spot,” CM Dhami said.

He said that the injured are being referred to higher centre and are being shifted to AIIMS Rishikesh via helicopter. “Orders have been given to conduct a Magisterial inquiry,” he added.

The Chief Minister also left for the incident spot for inspection.

Earlier in the day, officials said that the casualties include a police sub-inspector and three home guards.

Additional Director General of Police, Uttarakhand, V Murugesan said, “Around 15 people including a police sub-inspector and five home guards have died. The investigation is underway. Prima Facie reveals that there was current on the railing and the investigation will reveal further details.”

284 Rescued So Far From 42 Disaster-Affected U’khand: SDRF

Amid the devastating rainfall in Uttarakhand, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has rescued over 280 people from 42 affected places across the state so far this month, a senior officer said on Sunday.

“SDRF has been deployed in 42 disaster-affected places in Uttarakhand. SDRF has conducted 36 rescue operations so far this month, in which 284 people have been rescued and shifted to safe places”, said Manikant Mishra SDRF commandant.
Notably, heavy rainfall in the state has led to several landslides that have blocked roads and highways, stranding scores of people.

On Sunday itself, Balwakot-Dharchula road in Dharchula near the border area of the Pithoragarh district was blocked following a landslide, a senior official said.

While the Yamunotri Highway number 123 was blocked on Saturday due to falling debris near Chami village in Pauri Tehsil of Garhwal District. As per officials, dozens of vehicles were left stuck on both sides of the road.

The flood rescue operation by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) continues in the flood-affected areas of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Delhi, where torrential rainfall and the release of water from barrages have resulted in unprecedented floods, an official statement said on late Friday evening.

58 NDRF teams have been deployed in flood-affected states for rescue and relief work in coordination with State administrations. 16 teams of the NDRF have been deployed in Delhi, 11 teams in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand each, and 10 teams in Punjab and Haryana. (ANI)

58 NDRF Teams Deployed In Flood-Affected Punjab, Himachal, Haryana, U’khand, Delhi

A total of 58 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are deployed in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Delhi, where torrential rainfall and the release of water from barrages have resulted in unprecedented floods.

Among these 58 NDRF teams, 16 are deployed in Delhi, 11 each in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and 10 teams in Punjab and Haryana each, said the NDRF.
In view of the prevailing situation, these 58 NDRF teams have been deployed in flood-affected areas of these states for rescue and relief work in coordination with the state administration.

Till now, the NDRF said, its teams have rescued 1,423 people from difficult areas and evacuated 4,404 people to safer places in Delhi.

Besides, the NDRF teams are conducting regular rescue and evacuation operations in flood-prone areas in other states also.

Overall, during the current monsoon season, the NDRF has rescued more than 2,039 precious lives and evacuated 13,965 people and several live stocks, said the NDRF.

The force is also providing medical assistance to needy people and distributing relief material in coordination with the State administration and Police.

NDRF’s control room in its Headquarters in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and is in close coordination with concerned authorities and stakeholders. (ANI)
