Rahul Interacts With Auto Drivers Assures To Raise Issues In Parliament

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday interacted with autorickshaw drivers in the national capital.

During the exchange, he was also spotted wearing the uniform of an autorickshaw driver. Rahul Gandhi met the drivers outside his residence and engaged with them on issues related to their livelihood, insurance, and welfare concerns.

During the interaction, he also shared a meal with the drivers, in what an auto-rickshaw driver described as an “informal and unexpected meeting”.

Speaking to ANI, one of the auto-rickshaw drivers said, “Rahul Gandhi interacted with us. He promised to raise our issues in Parliament, our insurance, and other support. We even shared a simple meal. Rahul Gandhi met us unexpectedly while we were eating, and it felt good.”

Meanwhile, ahead of discussions on Karnataka cabinet representation and organisational responsibilities amid ongoing leadership transition within the party, Rahul Gandhi arrived at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi for a meeting.

In a separate engagement, the Lok Sabha LoP also met Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President YS Sharmila in the national capital today as part of organisational consultations within the party. YS Sharmila Reddy also arrived at the residence of Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge for the discussion.

While speaking to reporters on her meeting with Congress National President, she said, “Regular Andhra Pradesh political affairs (were discussed).”

Furthermore, Punjab Congress President Raja Warring, Bhupesh Baghel, Incharge of Punjab Congress and Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi also arrived at the residence of Mallikarjun Kharge.

Ahead of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting convened for Saturday regarding the election of Karnataka’s new Chief Minister, former Karnataka Minister Madhu Bangarappa on Friday stressed the possibility of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar taking the position of the new CM of the State.

The development follows the resignation of Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday.

Speaking to ANI, he said that the process to elect the new Karnataka Chief Minister is going smoothly and the decision will be taken after the CLP meeting.

“It is going to be very smooth. You know, really, it’s the greatness of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Though there were a lot of speculations in the media, where a lot of things are going to erupt or something like that, I think the high command and Siddaramaiah have really handled it very well. And then, it’s now the next phase we’ll have to go. And I think that’s it, it’s a high command call. And I think it looks like D.K. Shivakumar will be, you know, that Congress Legislative Party is there, then after that, then so on, the procedure will start,” he said. (ANI)
