AAP Alleges ‘BJP Goons Attack’ On Sisodia’s House

After the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that the house of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was “attacked by BJP goons”, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hit out at the ruling party at Centre and asked “why BJP is getting so desperate by the day in Delhi”.

Delhi Police said a case has been registered into the matter and six people have been arrested.

Kejriwal alleged in a tweet that it was “systematic, organised and violent attack” on Sisodia’s home.

“I strongly condemn the systematic, organised and violent attack on Dy CM Manish Sisodia’s home. The goons entered his house in police presence when he was away. Why is BJP getting so desperate by the day in Delhi?” Kejriwal asked.

AAP also made similar allegations.

“When the Deputy Chief Minister was not present at his house, BJP workers, who can be called ‘BJP’s goons’, attacked his house a while back, when only women were present”, AAP chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said at a press conference.

The party also showed CCTV footage of a group of protesters entering the gate of Sisodia’s residence.

AAP leader Atishi also targeted the central government over the incident saying it is “black day in Delhi’s political history”. (ANI)

Mamata Refers To JP Nadda As ‘Chaddha.. Fadda, Bhaddha’

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party over its slamming the Trinamool Congress government over “attack” on BJP president JP Nadda’s convoy and said it was resorting to “nautanki”.

She also targeted Nadda, who is on a two-day visit to state, and referred to him as “chaddha, Nadda, fadda, bhaddha”.

“They (BJP) has no other work. At times Home Minister is here, other times its Chaddha, Nadda, Fadda, Bhaddha is here. When they have no audience, they call their workers for doing nautanki,” Banerjee said at a public rally in Kolkata.

Nadda’s convoy was allegedly attacked and several BJP leaders including Kailash Vijayvargiya were injured when protesters pelted stones at their vehicles at Diamond Harbour.

She said BJP government asks West Bengal government to provide an account of the funds.

“They ask us to give them an account of the funds. First I would like to ask them to provide an account of the PM CARES Fund. One day you wake up to find yourself in a dire situation like demonetisation, lockdown and these actions are taken without any prior discussions,” she said.

Referring to BJP allegations on the party over attack on Nadda’s convoy, TMC leader Madan Mitra said that his party workers are ready to give a befitting reply and there is only one face in Bengal that is Mamata Banerjee.

“BJP’s this visit is perhaps last to Bhowanipore as people and party workers are ready to give a befitting reply. We saw what anti-socials of BJP are trying to do. Enough is enough. Today, TMC is ready. There’s only one face in Bengal that is Mamata Banerjee,” he said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has condemned the attack on Nadda’s convoy while it was on its way to Diamond Harbour area from Kolkata.

The Union Minister said that the central government is taking this attack “very seriously”.

“Today, the National President of BJP in Bengal @JPNadda was attacked. The attack is condemnable. The central government is taking this attack very seriously. The Bengal government will have to answer to the peace loving people of the state for this sponsored violence,” Shah said in a tweet. (ANI)

Indian Army Working At Dual-Task Fighting Formation

By Ajit K Dubey

Amid an ongoing conflict in Eastern Ladakh, the Indian Army is mulling converting some of its fighting formations into dual-tasked ones which would allow them to fight against both China and Pakistan.

Till recently, the focus of the fighting formations was mainly towards the Pakistan border as the Line of Actual Control was not that active.

The balance of the operational preparedness is heavily tilted towards the Western border can be seen from the fact that there are three Strike Corps deployed for offensive there while only one offensive Mountain Strike Corps has been created for the Northern borders.

“There will be no need to raise any additional forces or a new strike corps in view of the ongoing conflict. The existing fighting formations can be given dual-tasking to look after both fronts,” government sources told ANI.

Different proposals in this regard are being considered by Army headquarters and suggestions have also been sought from the different Army commanders as a need has been felt to further enhance preparedness on the LAC, they said.

The way these formations could be made dual tasked would be decided as per the discussions and decisions based on them, the sources said.

The Strike Corps on the western front including the 21 Strike Corps in Bhopal along with the Strike One in Mathura and the Kharga Corps in Ambala are heavly armoured and have their formations located all over the western, central and northern sector Including some which are very close to the China border.

The reorientation of the fighting formations of the 1.3 million Force would be a major exercise and is expected to prepare the defence forces for a two-front war in real senses, the sources said.

In the ongoing border conflict with China also, the Army has done some balancing and brought in a large number of the armoured element from Central and western India.

The BMPs, T-90s and T-72s of the Indian Army have been deployed heavily to more than match the Chinese presence opposite the Ladakh sector.

Over three Indian Army Mountain Divisions are additionally deployed in the Eastern Ladakh sector against around 60,000 Chinese troops in that area.

India and China have been engaged in a conflict since April-May timeframe in Eastern Ladakh and the deployments have gone up significantly in other sectors too along the entire LAC. (ANI)

Plunder & Oppression Of Gilgit-Baltistan Continues

As the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir successfully completed phase five of District Development Council elections that no doubt are a landmark achievement of the BJP government regarding devolution of power in the former state, people of Pakistan-occupied Gilgit Baltistan have begun to see the results of their November 15 elections bearing fruits. However, they taste sour, to say the least.

To start with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) cabinet in GB does not have a woman member and is totally a male-dominated ‘selected’ body. On its first day, it gave approval for the sacking of 100 government employees in the name of cutting state expenditure but conveniently ignored the large entourage of the chief minister who travels to the Astore district in a 30-vehicle long convoy, adding unwarranted pressure on the coffers of the GB treasury.

On the occasion when a totally male-only-cabinet was being sworn in, the rest of the occupied territory was facing the worst ever load shedding which in some cities lasted for more than 20 hours. “There is no sign of the newly designated minister for municipalities Mushtaq Hussain who hails from our district and we are stuck in the middle of a dark and bone-chilling cold night”, complained a resident of Ghanche district.

Unlike previous practice when tenders related to projects in Gilgit-Baltistan were launched in the occupied territory, this time around the tenders of two important projects were released in Islamabad by the federal minister for Kashmir Affairs and GB, Ali Ameen Gandapur, but more importantly under the watchful eyes of the Pakistani military establishment.

These projects include the construction of a four-megawatt power project in Challas which will cost a whopping one billion 26 crore rupees and the construction of a polytechnic institute in Skardu worth 37.8 crore rupees. No wonder the opposition parties in GB are complaining that the PTI government is stripping them of whatever trivial rights they had. The same PTI whose Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and GB while addressing an election rally in the region boosted of investing 400 billion rupees for regional development.

The next day, in the dead of the night following government orders, dozens of shops in Gilgit city were demolished without prior warning thus damaging millions of rupees of stock in the process. In a hurriedly called press conference trader associations have demanded compensation for the losses or else they will launch a protest campaign right across the occupied territory.

Smelling the evil intentions of the PTI government, Gilgit Baltistan Awami Action Committee’s leader announced that if the new government attempts to introduce new taxes they will have to face the wrath of the population as Awami Action Committee will retaliate with vengeance. The Committee has called for a full board meeting to be held next week.

The airfare from Karachi to Islamabad is Rs 12,000 for just under three hours flight. However, a 45 minutes flight from Skardu or Gilgit will cost you Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 and believe me people are not happy about it at all especially after the PIA license scandals that have forced the EU and UK to ban PIA fights to enter their airstrip. To put one’s life at risk for such a steep price in the hands of a PIA pilot who might not even have a genuine flying license is asking for a bit too much. PIA continues to charge the same fare despite election pledges to reform the price scheme.

Taking cue from the lack of female representation in the PTI’s GB cabinet, Gilgit-Baltistan women held a vociferous protest at the gates of the GB legislative assembly calling for action against sexual harassment and asking for secret cameras to be placed in colleges, universities and in offices. This is the first time that the women in GB have come together to fight for gender rights.

And then it was the turn of the students from the Karakoram University who protested against poor exam results blaming the authorities for lack of proper online teaching facilities and a very weak Internet network connection in the region that has been the main cause for not being able to prepare amidst corona pandemic lockdown social environment.

Meanwhile, as the hate and disinformation campaign by the military establishment’s NAZI style propaganda machine called ISPR which is based on lies marinated in the so-called two-nation theory of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the guillotine of the blasphemy law, Schedule Four and Anti-Terrorism Acts continues to hang over our people’s neck ready to be dropped in an instant if need be.

There is no hope of any betterment whatsoever under the current PTI government in GB. The military establishment has taken over full control of the running of the CPEC projects in the region and any dissent with being crushed in an instance that would be quicker than that of a blink of an eye.

Under the present circumstances, only those who have trained their minds to become bulletproof to the targeted jihadist cultural sniper attempts to brainwash our people into believing that India is our enemy and Pakistan our saviour and protector will be able to remain sane and survive through this final period of oppression and plunder before we join other fellow Indian citizens in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh.

In conclusion as our brothers and sisters enjoy a better life and as the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir takes big strides towards democracy and development, we who are living under the illegal occupation of Pakistan in PoJK and PoGB continue to suffer as oppression and plunder of our people and resources continues unabated after the November 15 elections or shall I call it ‘selections’?

Foundation Stone Laid For New Parliament Building

Various religious leaders performed the ‘Sarva Dharma Prarthana’ (inter-faith prayer) on Thursday at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new Parliament building.

The religious leaders chanted prayers in various languages.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the New Parliament Building in Parliament House Complex today.

Tata Trusts’ Chairman Ratan Tata, Union Minister HS Puri, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh and various religious leaders were also present at the event which took place with certain rituals.

Tata Projects Ltd has been given the contract for the project.

Among other leaders, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, foreign Envoys and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also attended the ceremony.

PM Modi also unveiled a plaque to mark the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new Parliament building.

At 2:15 pm, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the gathering on this occasion.

According to a release by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the new building is an intrinsic part of the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and will be a landmark opportunity to build peoples’ Parliament for the first time after independence, one which will match the needs and aspirations of ‘New India’ in the 75th anniversary of independence in 2022.

“The new Parliament building will be modern, state-of-the-art and energy-efficient, with highly non-obtrusive security facilities to be built as a triangular-shaped building, adjacent to the present Parliament. Lok Sabha will be three times of the existing size and Rajya Sabha will be substantially bigger,” the release said.

The interiors of the new building will showcase a rich blend of Indian culture and diversity of our regional arts, crafts, textiles and architecture, it said.

As per the PMO, the design plan includes space for a magnificent Central Constitutional Gallery, which will be accessible to the public.

It said the construction process will use resource-efficient green technology, promote environment-friendly practices, generate employment opportunities and contribute towards economic revitalisation. (ANI)

UN Shows Concern At Enforced Disappearances In Pak

UN human rights experts have raised concerns about the scourge of enforced disappearances and torture in Pakistan, calling on the Government to uphold its human rights obligations by initiating prompt, thorough and impartial investigations into such acts.

The experts highlighted the government’s failure to fully investigate the case of human rights defender Idris Khattak who was taken into custody by Pakistani Military Intelligence on 13 November 2019 and held incommunicado for over seven months.

In June of this year, authorities acknowledged his detention, but he continues to be deprived of his most basic rights.

They urged Pakistan, which was re-elected to the 47-member Human Rights Council in October, to lead by example by showing its commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights.

“There is no question that Pakistan must conduct a prompt and impartial investigation into the circumstances of Mr Khattak’s unlawful disappearance, and that those responsible must be held to account – impunity is not an option,” the experts said.

Khattak’s case is emblematic of a series of documented enforced disappearances in Pakistan, where many human rights defenders are similarly silenced for their legitimate work of monitoring, documenting and advocating against a range of human rights violations and attacks against minorities.

“We welcome the fact that proof of life was demonstrated recently when Mr. Khattak was granted his first contact with the outside world in a short, supervised visit from a family member,” the experts said.

“However, additional steps must be taken without delay in order for Mr Khattak’s most fundamental rights to be restored, including his right to an independent medical assessment, his right to unrestricted access to a lawyer, his right to a trial in full compliance with due process and his right not to be detained arbitrarily.”

“Unacknowledged detention exposes both the victims and their loved ones to severe and prolonged suffering that may well amount to torture or to other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, in clear violation of Pakistan’s obligations under international law,” the experts said.

“All victims and their families have the right to justice, truth and reparations,” said a press release issued by the United Nations.

Pakistani authorities have committed to actively engage with Special Procedures. In the case of Mr Khattak, experts have repeatedly raised their concerns directly with the Government and will continue to closely monitor the situation. (ANI)

The incident took place while he was on his way to South 24 Paraganas. Protestors also attempted to block the road from where BJP President JP Nadda’s convoy was passing.
