Actor Sanjay Dutt is all set to make his debut in the Punjabi film industry in collaboration with actor Gippy Grewal’s upcoming film ‘Sheran Di Kaum Punjabi’.

The film will be written and directed by Gippy and produced by Amardeep Grewal.

Gippy is currently basking the blockbuster success of ‘Carry On Jatta 3’

Taking to Insta, trade analyst Taran Adarsh, shared the updates about the film.

Coming back to Sanjay Dutt, the actor recently turned 64 on last Saturday. His birthday was marked with much fanfare across the nation.

A lot of his admirers gathered outside his residence to catch a glimpse of the actor on his special day. Sanjay came outside his building to meet and greet his fans who were stationed outside his residence.

Not only he greeted his fans but also gave them a return gift by announcing that he has joined the cast of ‘Double iSmart’, a sequel to Ram Pothineni and director Puri Jagannadh’s 2019 hit iSmart Shankar.

The film went on floors recently in Mumbai.

Sharing his excitement about working in the movie, Sanjay tweeted, “It takes me immense pride to be working with the director of the masses #PuriJagannadh ji and the young energetic Ustaad @ramsayz. He also shared a poster featuring his look from the film.

Sporting a funky hairdo and a beard, Sanjay looks stylish in a suit. He sports earrings, rings, an expensive watch, and a tattoo on his face and fingers. The poster shows him lighting a cigar as guns point at him.

After giving an impactful performance in ‘KGF – Chapter 2’, Sanjay is all set to share the screen space with Thalapathy Vijay in director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming Tamil film ‘Leo’.

The makers of Leo also unveiled Sanjay’s look from the film. They unveiled a glimpse video and introduced him as Antony Das. The video shows the powerful world of Antony Das, where he is the ruler and everyone follows him.

Sharing the glimpse video on Twitter, director Lokesh Kanagaraj wished Sanjay Dutt on his birthday and wrote, “Meet #AntonyDas A small gift from all of us to you @duttsanjay sir! It was indeed a pleasure to work with you.”

The film is helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

He will also be seen in a sci-fi horror comedy ‘The Virgin Tree’, which also stars Sunny Singh, Mouni Roy, and Palak Tiwari in lead roles, as well as an untitled comedy alongside actor Arshad Warsi.

Meanwhile, Gippy Grewal will be seen in ‘Shinda Shinda No Papa’ alongside his son Shinda Grewal.

The film is written by Naresh Kathooria and also stars Hina Khan who will be featuring in her first Punjabi film. It will be shot in Punjab and Canada and the film is slated to be out in 2024. (ANI)

Jr NTR Begins Shooting Intense Water Sequence For ‘Devara’

Post wrapping up an action-packed schedule of ‘Devara’, Jr NTR has now started shooting important sequences.

The next schedule of the film involves a massive water sequence which will be filmed in Hyderabad itself. Announcing the same, the film’s official Instagram handle wrote, “After a short break and some rehearsals to execute the sequence on a massive scale, we are back on sets from today. #Devara”

Recently, the film’s DoP Rathnavelu took to Twitter and teased fans with some BTS pics from the sets.

One of the images shows visual effects supervisor Yugandhar T, on set, giving directions.

The team successfully completed a dynamic phase of the movie, featuring an intense and adrenaline-pumping action meticulously choreographed by the highly skilled Peter Heins.

‘Devara’ is directed by Koratala Siva, produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts, and presented by Nandamuri Kalyana Ram.

The film is slated to release on April 5, 2024.

The film’s music is done by Anirudh Ravichander with R Rathnavelu being the cinematographer. Subu Cyril is on board as the head of art with Sreekar Prasad serving as the editor.

‘Devara’ also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in pivotal roles. The film marks Janhvi Kapoor’s long-awaited debut in Telugu cinema.

Apart from this, Jr NTR will also be seen in director Ayan Mukerji’s next action thriller film ‘War 2’ opposite actor Hrithik Roshan. The official release date of the film is still awaited. (ANI)

Actor Kangana Ranaut has been targeting filmmaker Karan Johar, since the release of his film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. She shared a video of him talking about the critic’s ratings and said that “it is not for you to put a price tag on and buy every single star that is there”

Taking to her Instagram handle, she shared a video of Karan Johar, and wrote in the caption, “Mr Johar this was not the purpose of critics rating, it was supposed to establish the authentic worth of a product so people can decide whether or not to invest in it… it is not for you to put a price tag on and buy every single star that is there ..”
“And please know everyone don’t have this privilege of having the sheet of stars even before the film releases …,” she added.

UK Introduces Tougher Rules To Stop Criminals From Gaining Citizenship

UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman on Monday said that she is introducing a “tougher threshold” to stop “serious criminals” from gaining British citizenship.

Taking to Twitter, the Indian-origin minister said, “British citizenship is a privilege – those who commit a crime or do not show respect for our freedoms and rights should not be entitled to receive it. From today I am introducing a tougher threshold so that serious criminals cannot claim citizenship here.”
This new law will change the previous rules where some criminals could be granted British citizenship even after a custodial sentence of at least 12 months but less than 4 years unless a period of 15 years has passed since the end of the sentence, regardless of the type of crime or where it was committed.

This UK government said it re-affirms the government’s commitment to protecting UK borders and ensuring no one with a criminal record can abuse the British immigration and nationality system.

The updated rules are stricter and more specific on so-called “good character” requirements, which are a key condition to be granted British citizenship, and look at whether an individual has observed UK law as well as shown respect for the rights and freedoms of British citizens. The requirements include factors such as criminal convictions, immigration offending and serious behaviour like war crimes, terrorism or genocide, according to the statement released by the UK government.

The changes remove the previous rules where some criminals could be granted British citizenship after a prescribed number of years had passed since the end of their sentence – regardless of the type of crime or where it was committed.

There will be some exceptions to the new rules, which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, for example, if someone has mitigating circumstances that support an exceptional grant. Cases like this could include someone who committed a minor offence a long time ago but has made sufficient, positive changes that they are now considered to be of good character, the statement read. Oppo Shedding Crocodile Tears, For Manipur: Sitharaman

Coming down heavily on the Opposition for not participating in the discussion on the Manipur issue and disrupting the Parliament, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said that the Opposition just shedding crocodile tears as they consider Manipur as a political issue.

“Opposition doesn’t want to participate in the discussion on the Manipur issue. Today when this issue was taken up in the Parliament, the opposition ran away from the discussion. Saddened by the behaviour of the opposition. Manipur is just a political issue for them (Opposition),” Nirmala Sitharaman said.
She said the government has agreed to discuss the Manipur ethnic violence in parliament, but the opposition has not allowed that to happen.

“They have been demanding discussion even under 176. The names of the Opposition leaders which are being followed in today’s list of business and for your sack, I recall the name: John Brittas, AD Singh, all respectable honarable members Professor Manoj Kumar Jha, Fouzia Khan, AA Rahim, Rajeet Ranjan, GC Chandrashekar, Phoolan Devi Netam, and Elamaram Kareem. They all are Opposition who wanted discussion under 176. Now on that 176 we have agreed and included all the names because they all wanted 176,” she said.

Opposition members have been seeking discussion under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha since the beginning of the monsoon session of Parliament on July 20.

She further said, “These are decided by the Chair and if anyone wants to ask why not under 267? I want to highlight that 267 is if there is any sense of urgency, yes it is such a sense of urgency but obviously eight days have gone. People have gone to Manipur and have come back, they have heard from the people of the state. Now we are meeting and talking about it . Now won’t they want to speak and what they heard in Manipur?”

While Rajya Sabha chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar permitted a discussion for a “short duration” to be taken up on the situation in Manipur, the Opposition objected to it and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in Parliament.

A group of MPs of the newly formed opposition grouping INDIA had visited Manipur for two days last week and interacted with  people in relief camps.

“Whatever they have heard they should put all that in the House. Why you all are hesitating? Today it was proved that they were just shedding crocodile tears on the Manipur issue. If they genuinely cared, then they would have discussed it,” she asked Opposition who went Manipur.

Parliament has not been able to function since the start of the Session on July 20, with the Opposition also demanding a statement by Prime Minister Modi in the House on the crisis.

The Opposition even brought a no-trust motion last week, in a bid to compel Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak on the Manipur issue within the Parliament.

However, both Houses adjourned for the day amid sloganeering by Opposition MPs over the unrest in Manipur. (ANI)

Internet Suspended In Haryana’s Nuh After Clashes Break Out In Two Groups

Mobile internet services have been suspended temporarily in the Nuh district of Haryana after clashes erupted between two groups on Monday.

Suspension of the internet services will continue in Nuh district till August 2.
The Haryana Government, in an official notification, has said that the order has been taken to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through social media platforms.

“In order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Twitter, etc. on mobile phones and SMS, for facilitation and mobilisation of mobs of agitators and demonstrators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities, Home Secretary, Haryana do order the suspension of the mobile internet services and all dongle services etc. provided on mobile networks except the voice calls in the territorial jurisdiction of district Nuh of Haryana State,” the order said.

It further said that all telecom service providers of Haryana are directed to ensure the compliance of this order.

Following the clash, Nuh Deputy Commissioner called a meeting of both parties today at 8:30 pm.

The police force has been deployed in the area.

Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Mamta Singh denied to comment on the incident.

“Now, we are doing our duties. We are not in the situation of talking anything about the incident,” Singh told ANI. (ANI)

ED Attaches Assets Worth Over Rs 6 Cr To Lalu’s Family

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth over Rs 6 crore of many people linked to former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav’s family in the land for job scam, the sources said on Monday.

The sources from the federal agency said that the seized property includes properties in Patna and Ghaziabad as well.
The development comes nearly a month after the CBI, which is also probing the scam, filed a fresh charge sheet against former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and his son and current deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav in connection with the case.

Recently, CBI has filed a chargesheet in a land-for-job alleged scam case of former Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav naming Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and others including Tejashwi Yadav etc.

According to the CBI, this is the 2nd chargesheet in the Designated Court against 17 accused including the then Union Minister of Railways, his wife, son, then GM of West Central Railways(WCR), then two CPOs of WCR, private persons, private company etc. in a case related to Land for Job Scam.

CBI had registered a case on May 18, 2022, against the then Union Minister of Railways and 15 others including his wife, two daughters and unknown public servants and private persons.

It was alleged that the then Union Minister of Railways during the period 2004-2009 had obtained pecuniary advantages in the form of transfer of landed property in the name of his family members etc. in lieu of appointment of Substitutes in Group “D” Post in different Zones of Railways.

It was further alleged that in lieu thereof the substitutes, who were residents of Patna themselves or through their family members sold & gifted their land situated at Patna in favour of the family members of said Minister and a private company controlled by his family members, which was also involved in transfer of such immovable properties in the name of said family members. Why Police Took 14 Days To Register Zero FIR In Manipur Case: CJI Chandrachud

Supreme Court on Monday questioned the Central government on the Manipur viral video, in which two women were allegedly sexually assaulted and paraded naked by a mob, asking why the FIR in the case was registered on May 18 when the incident happened on May 4.

“Supreme Court questions why the FIR was registered on May 18 when the incident happened on May 4. What were the police doing from May 4 to May 18? The incident came to light that women are being paraded naked and at least two were raped. What were the police doing?” the Supreme Court asked the Central government.

Manipur: 5th Accused Arrested In Viral Video Case
However, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that government has nothing to hide.

“This court can monitor the situation. Something coming from here or there will be hazardous,” he added.

A 26-second video from Manipur has triggered outrage in the whole country where two women were stripped naked, assaulted and paraded by a mob.

The incident allegedly took place on May 4, a day after ethnic clashes broke out in Manipur.

After a video of the same went viral, the police swung into action and arrested seven people, including the main accused.

The violence in Manipur erupted after a rally by the All Tribal Students’ Union of Manipur (ATSUM) on May 3 to protest against the high court order, asking the state government to consider adding the Meitei community to the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs).

However, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday took over the investigation into the case. (ANI)

Amidst the controversy over the Gyanvapi Mosque complex in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that labelling Gyanvapi as a mosque complex will only lead to controversy and that the Muslim side should accept its “historical mistake” and offer a solution.

“If we call it a mosque, there will be a dispute. We should just call it Gyanvapi. I feel whoever has been blessed with sight by God, that person should see. What is a trishul (trident) doing inside a mosque? We did not put it there.

There is security inside, there are Central forces are There is a jyotirlinga, dev pratimas (idols),” Yogi Adityanath said in a podcast interview with ANI Editor Smita Prakash aired today.

Gyanvapi: Caveat Filed In Allahabad HC Over Direction For ASI Survey
Adityanath, who is also the head priest of Gorakhnath Mutt in Gorakhpur said that physical, scriptural and other archaeological evidence inside the mosque should not be overlooked.

“You can twist history but not the historic evidence that the walls (of Gyanvapi) are screaming and saying,” the chief minister said.

“I feel that a proposal should also come from the Muslim side accepting that there has been a historical mistake and that they should come up with a solution,” Yogi Adityanath said.

The Allahabad High Court is expected to give a verdict on a petition against a lower court order for a survey by the Archaeological Survey of India inside the mosque complex, except the ‘wuzukhana’ (fountain).

Varanasi Court Allows Scientific Survey Of Gyanvapi Mosque Complex

A ruling on the petition is likely on August 3.

The matter took centrestage when on May 16, last year, during the court-mandated survey, a structure — claimed to be a “Shivling” by the Hindu side and a “fountain” by the Muslim side — was found in the mosque premises.

Meanwhile in the interview with ANI, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister said that he will appeal to the Muslims community that “today we should be talking about development.”

“We can all see the plight of Pakistan. Those who sow thorns for others will themselves suffer the pain. Whatever is happening in Pakistan today is the result of what they sowed. Today Pakistan is riddled with hunger and is battling its misdeeds. That is why we should not repeat our previous mistakes,” Adityanath said.

Meanwhile, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi has lashed out at Adityanath’s remarks on the Gyanvapi issue stating that it’s a “judicial overreach”.

The AIMIM chief, a staunch critic of Yogi said that despite knowing that the matter is sub-judice he is making such a controversial statement which is directly a judicial overreach.

“Chief minister Yogi knows that the Muslim side has opposed the ASI survey in Allahabad High Court and the judgement will be delivered in a few days, still, he gave such a controversial statement, this is judicial overreach,” said Owaisi. (ANI)
