Tunisha Case: Nothing Objectionable In Sheezan’s Chats

The police said that they have not found anything objectionable in the text chats between the two and found regular conversations about food and well-being.
“Tunisha was upset with her breakup and was already suffering from anxiety because of which she felt lonely after the two parted ways,” the police said adding that they have also obtained audio recordings from the phone. The police further said that they will interrogate Tunisha’s family regarding her anxiety issue and will also record her mother’s statement once again.

Tunisha was found dead on the sets of her ongoing TV show Alibaba – Dastaan-e-Kabul on Saturday. A day later, her ex-boyfriend and co-star from the show, Sheezan Khan was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide. If reports are to be believed, Khan and Tunisha broke up 15 days ago. Sharma was reportedly hospitalized after she suffered anxiety attacks a few months ago. The actress suffered from depression and anxiety around 2018 as well.

The police said that it is yet to get through Tunisha’s mobile phone as they could not unlock it so far.

Quoting Sheezan, the police further mentioned that he wanted to “focus on his career, that’s why he broke up with the deceased actor.

Meanwhile, the Waliv police have also identified Sheezan’s “secret girlfriend” and will question and record her statement soon.

It is also likely to retrieve the deleted chats from Sheezan’s mobile phone and also take into its possession the DVR of the shoot that took place at the set of their show Alibaba – Dastaan-e-Kabul so that the case could be better understood by reading their facial expression. The police will analyze the raw footage taken from the show.

On Tuesday, the Waliv Police informed that they have recorded the statement of 18 people so far in connection with the TV actor Tunisha Sharma’s death case, and Tunisha’s co-star Parth was also called to record his statement for the second time.

Earlier, a doctor from F&B Hospital gave details about the moment on December 24 when the late actor was brought to the hospital by her colleagues.

The doctor at the hospital, Surendra Pal, told ANI that Tunisha was dead when they examined her and said, “Except for a deep strangulation mark on her neck, no other mark was found on her body.”

Her fans, family, and members of the television and film industry bid a teary farewell to the 20-year-old Tunisha at the Mira Road crematorium ground in Mumbai. Celebrities including Vishal Jethwa, Ashnoor Kaur, Avneet Kaur, Shivin Narang, and others attended Tunisha’s funeral. (ANI)

Severe Cold Wave Conditions Persist In Delhi

Dense fog and cold wave conditions continued to sweep the national capital with the city recording a minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday morning.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cold day conditions are likely to abate over northwest India from Wednesday and then resurge from December 31.
According to RK Jenamani, fresh cold wave conditions shall prevail again from December 31 to January 1, 2023.

“Dense to very dense fog will continue to prevail in the belt. There will be an improvement on Dec 29 because of a western disturbance that will bring fresh snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Leh, and Himachal Pradesh. There will be drizzle in north Punjab on Dec 29,” he added,

From Dec 28 onwards there will be a significant improvement as the cold wave will go due to western disturbance, stated Jenamani. In Delhi so far, the lowest temp of 4.0 degrees celsius was recorded at Aya Nagar and a cold wave is still prevailing at isolated places.

Amid a cold wave prevailing in parts of northern India, Palam in Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius while Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

The IMD has predicted that the minimum temperature in the national capital is expected to remain around 7 degrees Celsius throughout the day.

The national capital reeled under a cold wave and foggy conditions, disrupting normal life. A layer of dense fog was observed in the national capital region, reducing the visibility and the speeds of vehicles across the area.

The visibility at Palam was recorded at 500 meters.

Visibility remained low in Punjab, with Amritsar recording visibility of up to 25 meters and Patiala 200. While Bhatinda recorded zero visibility once more.

Haryana too recorded low visibility. While Ambala recorded a low of 200, visibility in Chandigarh was also 200 meters.

Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly recorded 25m and Bahraich recorded 200m. Bihar’s Purnea and Odisha’s Gopalpur recorded a low of 50m each.

Earlier on Tuesday, IMD predicted “dense to very dense fog very likely to continue over many parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi”.

“Due to prevailing light wind and high moisture in lower tropospheric levels, dense to very dense fog are very likely to continue over many parts of Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, and in isolated pockets over north Rajasthan during the next 24 hours. Its intensity and spread are likely to reduce thereafter,” the IMD said.

Dense fog is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the next three days, according to IMD.

Meanwhile, cold day and severe cold day is mainly over south Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh. Day temperatures improved over north Punjab, north Haryana and North Rajasthan. Cold to severe cold waves continue over Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, and Delhi said scientist RK Jenamani, IMD. (ANI)

US Intel Report Links China's Biological Warfare Ambition To Covid | Lokmarg

US Intel Report Links China’s Biological Warfare Ambition To Covid

China had revealed its biological weapons ambitions long before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, according to a new US intelligence report.

On December 15, the House Intelligence Committee released a declassified report examining the Intelligence Community’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic following a two-year investigation.

The report examines the IC’s posture to support global health security policymakers, the IC’s performance in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the steps the IC must take to strengthen any future pandemic response.

“In 2005, the US State Department publicly stated the US assessment that China also operates an offensive biological weapons program, specifically identifying two Chinese entities as likely involved, one of which is the Fifth Institute. In a 2006 declaration of compliance with the Biological and Toxic Weapons Convention, China acknowledged that the Fifth Institute specifically researches SARS coronaviruses,” the report reads, as quoted by Indo-Pacific Centre for Strategic Communications.

The US Intelligence report also took note of the book titled “The Unnatural Origin of SARS and New Species of Artificial Humanized Viruses as Genetic Weapons,” released by AMMS in 2015.

“The book described how to create weaponized chimeric SARS coronaviruses, the potentially broader scope for their use compared to traditional bioweapons, and the benefits of being able to plausibly deny that such chimeric coronaviruses were artificially created rather than naturally occurring,” the report states.

Last week, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called on China to share the data requested by the world health body to better understand the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Gaps in our understanding of post-COVID-19 conditions mean we don’t understand how best to treat people suffering from the long-term consequences of infection. Gaps in our understanding of how this pandemic began to compromise our ability to prevent future pandemics,” the WHO chief said during a weekly press conference.

“We continue to call on China to share the data and conduct the studies we have requested, and which we continue to request. As I have said many times before, all hypotheses about the origins of this pandemic remain on the table,” he added.

Tedros also expressed concern about the evolving situation in China, with increasing reports of severe disease.

Three years after its emergence in China’s Wuhan, exactly how SARS-CoV-2 first emerged as a respiratory pathogen capable of sustained human-to-human transmission remains the subject of active debate.

Experts have put forward two dominant theories on the origins of the virus. The first theory is that SARS-CoV-2 is the result of a natural zoonotic spillover. The second theory is that the virus infected humans as a consequence of a research-related incident. (ANI)

Chinese Human Traffickers Target Poor Asian Nations

Chinese human traffickers are targeting poor Asian nations and have been found tricking people from poor Asian nations to migrate to China in the name of jobs and then selling them for forced marriage or prostitution or slavery and other kinds of illegal activities reported Meta Khabar.

China has been known for the rampant human trafficking trade, which, however, is no longer limited to the walls of the country. Chinese human traffickers have extended their tentacles outside China in recent years, research and news reports have revealed, adding that there are horrific claims about such sold people being killed in China for organ harvesting.

The recent development comes from Nepal where the local authorities have arrested two Chinese nationals. Ten Nepalese were promised better jobs by these arrested Chinese nationals but were later forced to do illegal things, reported Meta Khabar.

Sharada Prasad Chaudhary, superintendent of police at Nepal’s Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau, said, “Our investigation of the rescued women and girls has shown that most of the young women taken from Nepal to China as brides are sent are forced to take prostitution.”

In 2019, too, Nepal Police arrested ten people for trafficking Nepalese girls on the pretext of marriage to China but allegedly used them as domestic workers and sex slaves. The Nepalese Embassy in China has time and again rescued Nepalese victims trafficked to China. Chinese traffickers often escape government radar as they avoid breaking rules and following procedures.

“Although Chinese nationals take Nepalese women by following all legal processes, these women are at high risk of being used as sex slaves or unpaid laborers,” said Anjana Shakya, chairperson of the Alliance Against Trafficking of Women and Children.

Chinese traffickers carry out illegal human trade by posing as businessmen or workers of infrastructure projects China is building in different countries, reported Meta Khabar, adding that the implementation of projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has seen many Chinese nationals coming to Pakistan regularly.

Many cases of bride trafficking are reported through fraudulent marriages between girls from poor and minority backgrounds and Chinese men. These alleged Chinese traffickers entered Pakistan as businessmen of companies that did not exist. According to a report by Brookings Institute, they bought poor Pakistani girls for USD 3,500-5,000.

There are accusations that the government chose business with China over justice for the affected and vulnerable girls from marginalized backgrounds. The prosecution has been insufficient and questionable, say social activists.

While there are no government statistics, investigations by NGOs and news agencies revealed as many as 629 women especially vulnerable women from the Christian community were sold as brides to China in 2019, reported Meta Khabar.

When the issue of human trafficking by Chinese people led to an uproar in Pakistan, the authorities charged 52 Chinese traffickers in 2019. However, more than half were acquitted soon or granted bail and the opportunity to flee Pakistan.

While the Chinese government and embassies have been issuing statements against human trafficking, the world’s second most powerful country has feeble laws to stop the illegal trade. One can be imprisoned for seven years in China for buying illegal plants but buying a human attract a jail term of just three years and that too is not enforced actively.

China did not have any punishment for human trafficking until 1997. (ANI)

UN Rights Chief To Taliban: End Disastrous Policy Towards Women

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk has called on the de facto authorities in Afghanistan to revoke immediately a raft of policies that target the rights of women and girls, noting both the “terrible, cascading effects” on their lives and the destabilizing risks such policies pose to Afghan society.

“No country can develop – indeed survive – socially and economically with half its population excluded. These unfathomable restrictions placed on women and girls will not only increase the suffering of all Afghans but, I fear, pose a risk beyond Afghanistan’s borders,” Turk was quoted as saying press statement by United Nations Human Rights Office.

“I urge the de facto authorities to ensure the respect and protection of the rights of all women and girls – to be seen, to be heard, and to participate in and contribute to all aspects of the social, political, and economic life of the country, in line with Afghanistan’s international obligations,” he said.

On 24 December, the de facto authorities issued a decree banning women from working in NGOs, TOLOnews reported. This came after they had already suspended university education for women and secondary schooling for girls until what they termed further notice.

“This latest decree by the de facto authorities will have terrible consequences for women and for all Afghan people,” the High Commissioner said. “Banning women from working in NGOs will deprive them and their families of their incomes, and of their right to contribute positively to the development of their country and to the well-being of their fellow citizens.”

The UN rights office said NGOs and humanitarian organizations provide critical life-saving services for many people in Afghanistan, providing food, water, shelter, and healthcare, and some critical programs, such as pre-and post-natal and infant care, are only provided by women.

Many staff working for these NGOs are female and many of the organizations have women in leadership roles. They are essential partners for the UN and other agencies in the delivery of their humanitarian and development programs throughout the country.

“The ban will significantly impair, if not destroy, the capacity of these NGOs to deliver the essential services on which so many vulnerable Afghans depend. It is all the more distressing with Afghanistan in the grip of winter, when we know humanitarian needs are at their greatest and the work these NGOs do is all the more critical,” Turk said.

The High Commissioner also voiced deep concern that increased hardship in Afghan society is likely to increase the vulnerability of women and girls to sexual and gender-based violence and domestic violence.

“Women and girls cannot be denied their inherent rights. Attempts by the de facto authorities to relegate them to silence and invisibility will not succeed – it will merely harm all Afghans, compound their suffering, and impede the country’s development. Such policies cannot be justified in any way,” Turk said. (ANI)
