Adah Sharma

Adah Sharma: I Hope Kerala Story Is Shown Freely Across India

Actor Adah Sharma is being lauded for her performance in ‘The Kerala Story’. However, she is quite sad as her film got banned in West Bengal.

Earlier this month, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered an immediate ban on the screening of the film in the state to avoid “any incident of hatred and violence and to maintain peace in the state”.

‘The Kerala Story’ film depicts how thousands of young women were allegedly brainwashed into joining the Islamic State (IS) and heading off to countries like Syria and Afghanistan.

Reacting to it, Adah told ANI, “…Film is still banned in West Bengal. I hope it’s freely shown everywhere in India so that people can watch and decide if they like it or not.”

On Wednesday, the makers organised a press conference in Mumbai where they answered several questions related to the film.

Producer Vipul Shah urged every citizen of the country to watch this movie with their families. The producer said, “It’s not the story of these three Kerala girls. This thing is going on in the entire country. It’s our responsibility to watch this movie and be a voice of these women.”

Vipul said it was his ‘duty’ to make this film. “When Sudiptoda came to me with the script, I felt compelled towards the subject. We knew all the challenges coming our way. We knew it would be labelled as a ‘propaganda’ movie. But that did not deter us from making a movie, which is so humane and right.”

Vipul added the fact that he and director Sudipto (Sen) got emotional as the nation has to be woken up with such a film. “We all knew what we were getting into. These girls knew what troubles would come their way. But at least, the nation has started to talk about it. Forget ‘The Kerala Story’, it may come, it may go. But this topic should not go. This topic should remain at the centre of the nation’s conversation. That’s important.”(ANI)

PFI Terror Funding

NIA Arrests PFI Member For Killing RSS Leader In Kerala

In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another Popular Front of India (PFI) member who was wanted in the gruesome murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Srinivasan in Kerala’s Palakkad district in April last year.

The accused, Saheer KV, was absconding since the crime and was carrying a reward of Rs 4,00,000. An NIA Fugitive Tracking Team (FTT) tracked him to a relative’s house in Palakkad district and arrested him.

A resident of Palakkad, Saheer was part of the PFI Assault and Protection Team that had carried out the targeted killing. Saheer was also responsible for providing protection to the main assailants of Srinivasan.

NIA investigations showed that the accused, who was PFI’s Pattambi Area President, was involved in various conspiracies of the PFI leaders to eliminate Srinivasan, as part of the banned outfit’s bigger scheme to create terror among members of a particular community and to establish Islamic Rule in India by 2047.

Earlier on March 17, the NIA filed a chargesheet against 59 accused, including the PFI as an organisation in the case.

One of these accused, identified as Abdul Naser, died on January 2 this year, said the NIA, adding “Efforts are on to track and trace the remaining 11 absconding accused, out of the total of 59 identified as involved in the conspiracy so far.” (ANI)

Divya Dutta

Everyone Faces Nepotism: Divya

Actor Divya Dutta talked about nepotism in Bollywood and how challenging it is for emerging actors and newcomers to establish themselves in the industry.

In an exclusive interview with ANI, she said, “There are higher stakes as it is a glamour world. Everyone watches it everyone makes your image. We all faced it, even I faced it. I think eventually what happens is what lasts is what is loved by the audience. Amount of marketing may not take a film to that level where it aims to reach aur kai baar ek choti si pyari si film aese hi chal jati hai bina kisi marketing ke ek actor yuhi chal jata hai I think mai to ise sab pe chali hu jab mai aayi thi mujher sab kehte the ki achi actor hai fir achi actor bani fir ab star actor kehte hai to ye cheezein khud ba khud hoti gayi organically hoti gayi lekin what I really feel jo logon ka pyar hota hai na vo bahut well earned hota hai stardom comes and goes but mere liye meri sabse badi achievement hai jab when they say hamari lagti ho tum to vo mujhe acha lagta hai.(Certain times even a small film works without marketing and even a small actor makes his place. When I joined the industry everyone used to call me a good actor and now they say I am a star actor. These things happened on their own, they became organic, but what I really feel is that people’s love is very well-earned. Stardom comes and goes but what matters to me is when the audience says you look like us and I really like this).”
She added, “Jab kehte hai tum koi film karogi acha karogi ye trust yeh faith this is the biggest thing which goes beyond these things and I do feel I have lasted it all. I think everyone faces it. kiske saath nahi hota aur matlab nepotism har jagah hai aur aesa nahi hai ki inke liye bhi asaan hai. (When the audience trusts me that I will do good films only, it matters a lot to me. I think everyone faces nepotism and even things are not easy for them).”

Furthermore, she told ANI about the audience’s curiosity about the lives of stars and their kids.

“There is a curiosity among the audience. As you have grown up looking at those actors. Even when I go to meet my family or friends, they ask me if his or her son is involved with someone. So, I think this natural curiosity eventually gives way to how capable that child is,” Divya told ANI.

She shared her upcoming projects: “There are about three web shows and four features. The web shows are very different from one another and I am very excited about them like a child and I am really happy about them. There are lots of features. There is ‘Sharmaji Ki Beti’, directed by Tahira Kashyap. I have a feature called ‘Nazar Andaaz’ and then there is a film with Dibakar Banerjee and one with Anubhav Sinha, one I am doing with Anurag Kashyap and Suniel Shetty where I am playing a cop and there are two international English films.” (ANI)

Aryan Khan Case: CBI Summons Former NCB Officer Wankhede Tomorrow

In another development in the alleged bribery probe in the Aryan Khan drugs-on-cruise case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede asking him to appear before the agency in Mumbai on Thursday.

Earlier on Tuesday, CBI which had booked Wankhede for allegedly demanding Rs 25 crore as a bribe for not framing Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case, said that the deal was closed for Rs 18 crore adding that assets to Wankhade were not proportionate to his known sources of income.
According to the CBI FIR copy, the NCB team headed by Sameer Wankhede allowed people who were actually in possession of drugs and the supplier as well to go.

The FIR copy said Arbaaz Merchant had confessed of possession Charas to NCB but he was allowed to go.

Siddarth Shah who had allegedly supplied charas to Arbaaz Merchant was also allowed to walk free, the CBI FIR said adding that incriminating chats between the two were ignored.

The federal agency said the accused were brought in a private vehicle. The private vehicle belonged to KP Gosavi (independent witness). This was done to show the accused that Gosavi was an NCB employee, though he was not.

CBI claimed that Gosavi was allowed close proximity to the accused against the rules. An effort was made to extort Rs 25 crore, but the deal was closed for Rs 18 crore. Out of this Rs 50 lakh was paid in advance.

Other corruption charges against Sameer Wamkhede and other NCB Officials were also in the process.

The investigating agency said the assets to Wankhede were not proportionate to his known sources of income. The FIR copy said he was not able to justify expenses made during his foreign visit.

Wankhede has been selling and purchasing expensive wristwatches with a private entity, said CBI.

CBI registered a case against former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer, Sameer Wankhede and three others for allegedly demanding Rs 25 crore as a bribe for not framing Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case.

Wankhede on Saturday alleged that he was being punished for being a patriot. Wankhede’s statement came in response to the CBI raids at his residence and other premises on Friday.

CBI on Friday conducted searches at 29 locations across the country following the alleged corruption case against him and three others linked to the Aryan Khan drugs-on-cruise case.

Wankhede had raided Cordelia Cruise and arrested Actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in an alleged drug case. (ANI)

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

Police Surrounded My House, This May Be Last Tweet: Imran

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday claimed that the police have surrounded his house and he could be arrested at any time, so this may be his last tweet.

While addressing the nation in a live video message, Imran Khan tweeted, “Probably my last tweet before my next arrest. Police has surrounded my house.”
The Punjab police have reached outside PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence to arrest him, a Dawn.com correspondent present at the site has confirmed.

He said that Khan’s residence has been cordoned off by the police officials.

In a video message, Khan said, “I am afraid that Pakistan is on the route to destruction. And I fear that if we don’t use our brains now then we may reach to the point where we wouldn’t be able to collect all the pieces of our nation.”

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief further claimed that for almost a year, there is chaos in pakistan and an external force was used in order to prevent him as he is not the right person for the country. Even if it meant breaking the laws, or no election or even insulting the Supreme Court, Imran Khan should not be back.

He showed the Survey which shows that PTI is the most popular. Khan further stated that all the parties are afraid that if he is back then all the political parties will lose the election.

“If the election happened then Imran will win and they don’t care whether it is good for the people or not what they care about is that the corruption cases that have been closed during their governance would be out,” Khan said.

“I have defended my army across the world … I was a known face. Name another Pakistani who defended the army the way I did on international media,” Khan said.

“And I did it because I am a free man. I never accepted slavery,” he added.

He also claimed that the Pakistan Democratic Movement is deliberately trying to create a conflict between the PTI and the army.

“The cases that are being filed under military laws — it never happened before that without any investigation or independent inquiry … it was suddenly decided that PTI is a terrorist organisation,” Khan said.

In the video message, the PTI chief further stated that their party will be approaching the court, seeking the formation of a judicial commission to probe into riots following Imran’s arrest.

“The Punjab IG should be called on what happened at Jinnah House [in Lahore]. If an inquiry is properly conducted into this, it would be revealed who was behind this conspiracy to ban a political party,” Khan added. (ANI)
