Chaiti Chhath: Devotees Offer ‘Araghya’ To Rising Sun

Devotees gathered on the banks of the Kalindi Kunj Ghat in New Delhi on Monday morning to offer ‘Araghya’ to the rising sun, on the last day of the 4-day Chhath Puja festival.

Similar celebrations were witnessed in other parts of the national capital where devotees offered prayers to the rising sun.

Chhath is one of the significant celebrations in Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country.

While Chhath is usually celebrated with a ton of energy in Kartik month according to the Hindu calendar, however, in numerous regions of India, the celebration is also held during Chaitra. The Chhath Puja during this month is additionally referred to as Chaiti Chhath. In certain parts of northern India, particularly the Braj area, it is also called Yamuna Chhath.

Chaiti Chhath is celebrated on Shukla Paksha Shashthi in Chaitra month and is observed during Chaitra Navratri. The celebration is additionally referred to as Yamuna Chhath. It is believed that the river Yamuna came down to earth on this day and, accordingly, it likewise denotes the birth anniversary of Goddess Yamuna or Yamuna Jayanti.

Devoted to Chhathi Maiyya and Surya Bhagwan, the celebration is observed over a range of 4 days, beginning with ceremonies of Nahay Khay, followed by Kharna or Lohanda, Sandhya Arghya and culminating with Usha Arghya which is proposed to the rising sun on the last day.

The two Chhaths are observed at different times of the year, although they are mostly celebrated the same way. The devout celebration starts with Nahay-Khay, where vratis clean up in holy water and eat rice, chana dal and bottled gourd sabzi.

On Kharna, the second day of Chhath, devotees mark fast from morning to night and have Rasiya kheer and roti at night. After this, a 36-hour difficult fast starts all through the third day and ends in the early hours of the fourth day. (ANI)

NCP leader Praful Patel on Sunday said that BJP’s policies do not discriminate on the basis of religion or caste when it comes to providing facilities to people.

“There is no discrimination. Everyone, irrespective of their religion or caste, is provided with equal facilities such as toilets, healthcare, and support for farmers. Therefore, I don’t think that BJP’s key policy is against any religion or community,” he told ANI.

The BJP released its poll manifesto on Sunday with the tagline “Modi ki Guarantee,” with a focus on more development, women’s welfare and a roadmap for “Viksit Bharat” (developed India). The manifesto released by the party promised ‘One Nation One Election’ and “single electoral roll.”

In its election promise, the party also aims to make the country the third-largest economy in the world. The manifesto set the goal of making India a “global manufacturing hub”.

We have increased MSP multi-fold. We are committed to support our Kisan families and empower them to lead better lives,” the party said in its manifesto.

BSP UP

We Will Declare Western UP As Seperate State: Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati announced on Sunday that if her government is formed at the Centre, they will declare Western Uttar Pradesh as a separate state.

Addressing a public meeting here today, the BSP supremo alleged that during the Samajwadi Party’s government in Uttar Pradesh, hatred between Jat and the Muslim community was increased.

“We will declare Western Uttar Pradesh as a separate state when our government is formed at the Centre, for the development of the people of this region. Along with this, special attention will be given to the interests of farmers, labourers, unemployed and small traders. When the party was formed, people from the opposition party had spread the word that BSP was against the Jats. But when our government was formed, there were no riots in Western Uttar Pradesh, especially in Muzaffarnagar,” she said.

“We did not allow any caste conflict or communal conflict to happen here. The Brotherhood of Jats and Muslims was broken during the SP government. Here Muslims and Jats fought among themselves,” she added.

Further, Mayawati said that to maintain brotherhood among Muslims and Jats in Muzzafarnagar Constituency, she wanted to field a Muslim candidate from here.

“We gave ticket to a person coming from an extremely backward class in Muzaffarnagar. To maintain brotherhood among Muslims and the Jaat community, we have fielded Chaudhary Bijender Singh from the Bijnor Lok Sabha seat. But we have not neglected the Muslim people of Muzaffarnagar. We took full care of them in politics as well. My heart wished that from here the Muslim community should come forward in the election field but the SP government had generated so much hatred that no one from the Muslim community was ready to contest the election. Because of this we had to field the extremely backward class in the elections,” Mayawati said.

“Nevertheless, I have fielded Maulana Jamil Ahmed from Hardwar seat of Uttarakhand, which is adjacent to the Muzaffarnagar seat,” she added.

A huge rally was organised in support of the BSP candidate from Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha today at Government Inter College, Muzaffarnagar.

Sharpening her attacks on the opposition, the BSP supremo said that due to the decisions and policies of Congress for Dalits, Tribals, the grand old party has lost power at both the centre and state levels.

“Power has been in the hands of Congress since independence. Due to the decisions and policies taken for Dalits, tribals, and other backward caste people, Congress has today lost power in many states, along with the Centre. The mentality of the BJP is also narrow. BJP will never return to power easily in the future if elections are held in a free and fair manner. Now the theatrics or rhetoric of the BJP are not going to work. The people of the country have understood that the promises made by them to show good days to the poor and middle class of the country have not been fulfilled yet,” Mayawati added. (ANI)

Iran Israel Rishi

Iran’s Attack On Israel Was Dangerous, Unnecessary Escalation: Rishi

Terming the attack by Iran on Israel as “dangerous and unnecessary escalation”, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak condemned Tehran’s attack in strongest terms while thanking coordinated global response in intercepting the missiles and saving lives not just in Israel, but in neighbouring Jordan as well.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the courage and professionalism of the Royal Air Force (RAF) and allied forces in safeguarding civilians amidst the onslaught.

“Iran’s attack last night was a dangerous and unnecessary escalation. I want to pay tribute to the professionalism and bravery of the @RoyalAirForce and our allies in protecting civilians,” said Sunak in a post on X.

“Last night, Iran launched a barrage of missiles and attack drones across the Middle East towards Israel. This was a dangerous and unnecessary escalation, which I’ve condemned in the strongest terms,” Sunak said in a short video message posted on X.

Prime Minister Sunak emphasised the coordinated efforts of the global community, including the United Kingdom, in thwarting the majority of the incoming missiles, thereby averting potential catastrophe not only in Israel but also in neighbouring nations like Jordan.

“Thanks to an international coordinated effort which the United Kingdom participated in. Almost all of these missiles were intercepted, saving lives not just in Israel, but in neighbouring countries like Jordan as well,” he added.

In a video message posted on X, Prime Minister Sunak reiterated his strong condemnation of Iran’s actions, emphasising the critical role of international cooperation in countering such threats. He lauded the bravery of RAF pilots who intercepted Iranian attack drones, underscoring their commitment to protecting civilian lives amid perilous circumstances.

The Prime Minister further said that the Royal Air Force had deployed additional aircraft to the region as part of ongoing operations against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

“The RAF sent additional planes to the region as part of our existing operations to counter Daesh in Iraq and Syria. I can confirm that our planes did shoot down a number of Iranian attack drones. I want to pay tribute to the bravery and professionalism of our pilots flying into the face of danger to protect civilians,” Sunak also said.

In the first-ever direct attack on Israel by Iran, the Islamic Republic on Saturday night launched a barrage of 300 attack drones and missiles from its territory towards the Jewish state, triggering air raid sirens throughout the country on Sunday morning as the military tried to intercept the Iranian projectiles, Times of Israel reported.

The onset of the assault was confirmed by IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari at 11 pm, after days of anticipation. Alongside missile launches, Hagari noted that Iran also fired missiles at Israel, with “numerous” Israeli fighter jets swiftly mobilizing to counter the attacks.

Air raid sirens blared across Israel early Sunday, starting at 1:42 am in southern Israeli communities and soon spreading throughout the country and many towns in the West Bank. Explosions resounded across the north and south, with reports of a young girl sustaining injuries from shrapnel following the interception of an Iranian ballistic missile in southern Israel.

The 7-year-old girl, from a Bedouin town near Arad, was rushed to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba in serious condition.

Despite the intensity of the assault, there were no further reports of injuries.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards confirmed the launch of numerous drones and missiles, targeting specific locations in Israel. Iranian state media quoted a statement from the elite force, acknowledging the attack. Additionally, an anonymous Iranian official, cited by the state-run IRNA news agency, confirmed the deployment of ballistic missiles.

Hagari provided details on the scale of the attack, stating that Iran unleashed over 300 projectiles, including 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles, and 120 ballistic missiles. Remarkably, Israeli air defences intercepted 99 per cent of the incoming threats, minimising the impact of the assault, Times of Israel reported. (ANI)

Guide to Modi’s Win-Win Foreign Policy

A Jargon-Free Guide to Narendra Modi’s (Mostly) Win-Win Foreign Policy

Just two things from last weekend can give you a huge insight into the manner in which India’s foreign policy has undergone a significant transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who completes 10 years at the helm of India’s government and is poised to win another five-year term. But first the two things (spoiler: both have to do with S. Jaishankar, Modi’s foreign minister and close confidant when it comes to anything to do with India’s international policy).

One. Last Friday, at an event to launch the Marathi version of his book, Jaishankar said: “Whosoever will be the President of America will have good relations with India, because America will always want to have a partnership with Prime Minister Modi.”

Two. At the same event, in an obvious reference to cross-border terrorism from Pakistan, he also said: “They (terrorists) should not think; we are this side of the line, so no one could attack us. Terrorists do not play by any rules. The answer to terrorists cannot have any rules.”

Both those statements by India’s foreign minister are accurate. I would amend the first a bit by substituting “partnership with Prime Minister Modi” with “partnership with India” but then we should not mind Jaishankar’s preference for mentioning the name of his boss.

Indo-US relations and the China factor

Let’s start with the first statement. India’s relationship with the US has pivoted in the past couple of decades and has been warming for several reasons but for the US, the most important of them is the dynamics of China’s rise and its implications for regional stability. US-China relations have been deteriorating ever since the US started worrying about China’s military buildup and its assertiveness in the South China Sea. Then, in 2018, a trade war began under the Trump administration with both countries imposing tariffs on each other’s goods. In 2020, the tension escalated over the handling and origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and issues such as the handling of Hong Kong and the treatment of Uighurs in Xinjiang.

Strategically, the US supports India’s emergence as a leading global power in the region and sees it as a counterbalance to China’s rise. This strategic interest, coupled with economic interests and shared democratic values, has contributed to the strengthening of the US-India relations.

The two countries now cooperate in areas such as defence, trade, technology, and climate change. So, to paraphrase Jaishankar, no matter who becomes the next occupant of the White House, the US will always want to have India as a partner, no matter what. When Canada accused India of being involved in the murder of a Sikh separatist on Canadian soil, the US was remarkably guarded in its response, simply because it needs India strategically.

For India, it is a win-win. It follows a policy of strategic autonomy and has avoided becoming a formal ally of the US, which allows it to follow an independent foreign policy that can also sometimes diverge from what the US would ideally expect. Case in point: India’s relations with Russia.

Indo-Russian relations and the economic factor

While the US-led West has imposed heavy sanctions on trade with Russia following its invasion of Ukraine, India has maintained its historical bond with Russia. India buys Russian oil, weapons and trade between the two continues to be robust. In the financial year 2024, India bought 35% of its oil imports from Russia. India and China together buy an estimated 80% of Russia’s oil. In 2023, India spent $15.2 billion on Russian oil. For Russia, embroiled as it is in a war in Ukraine since February 2022, such revenue is of critical importance.

Arguably, those earnings could be financing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s onslaught against Ukraine but for India, it is a win-win. Because India has been buying Russian oil at discounted rates. Following the sanctions imposed on Russia, Russian Urals crude has been selling at a discount. For instance, at one point, it was more than $30 a barrel cheaper than Brent crude, the global benchmark.

Indo-Chinese relations and the tension factor

If India’s relations with the US and with Russia can be said to be determined by strategy and economics, respectively, its relations with China are much more complex. It is marked by both cooperation and contention. Continuing border disputes with China have strained ties between the two countries.

The border disputes over areas in the north-eastern part of India are long-standing. Recently, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the “urgent need to address” the prolonged situation on the borders to resolve the “abnormality in bilateral interactions”. There have been ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease the tensions, but there has been no breakthroughs.

A new controversy has been over China renaming territories by issuing standardised names in Mandarin for places within India’s Arunachal Pradesh, which China refers to as Zangnan. India has strongly condemned this move, with the Indian defence minister questioning the logic behind the renaming and asserting that such actions cannot change the fact that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. The U.S. has also reacted to this development.

These actions by China are seen as attempts to assert its territorial claims over the region, which India rejects. The renaming of territories is part of a broader pattern of assertiveness by China in its border disputes, but India maintains its stance that Arunachal Pradesh is, and will always be, an integral part of its territory. The situation remains sensitive.

India also fears security threats from China. In 2020, it banned 59 Chinese-made apps, including popular ones like TikTok and WeChat, citing them as a danger to the country’s sovereignty, integrity, and national security.

Yet, Indo-Chinese relations aren’t that simple. Despite the border tensions, trade between India and China has not only continued but has reached new heights. In 2022, the trade volume between the two countries was at an all-time high of  $135.98 billion, with India’s trade deficit with China crossing the $100 billion mark for the first time. This was despite India’s efforts to become more self-reliant and reduce its dependence on Chinese imports. However, imports from China have remained strong mainly because they are cheap.

Indo-Pak relations and the big daddy factor

I began this piece by listing two recent statements by India’s foreign minister but tackled only the first. The second too is of significance. When Jaishankar said the “answer to terrorism cannot have rules”, he could have likely been referring to a report in The Guardian, which alleged that India’s external intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), conducted operations deep inside Pakistan to neutralise wanted terrorists. That statement reflects the tough stance that India now adopts when it comes to cross-border terrorism from Pakistan, particularly in Kashmir.

Elsewhere, in its South Asian neighborhood, India under Modi has tried to reassert its leadership role. Its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy aims to foster better relations, but challenges persist. India’s influence faces competition from China’s economic clout, as Beijing invests heavily in regional infrastructure projects.

Modi’s global ambitions are also reflected in India’s outreach to Africa and the Middle East. In Africa, India has focused on development partnerships and trade, positioning itself as an alternative to China’s resource-driven approach. In the Middle East, energy security and the welfare of the Indian diaspora (66% of non-resident Indians live in the Middle East) have guided its policies, leading to stronger ties with nations like Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

As Modi likely heads into a third term, what kind of foreign policy should we expect? For sure, the policy of “strategic autonomy” that has now become familiar will continue with India navigating the complex geopolitical web of the world by blending pragmatism with national interest. That strategy will also gain heft from  India’s economic might–it could soon become the third largest economy in the world. To sum up, it would be: Modi’s win-win foreign policy.

Vande Bharat trains

BJP To Expand Vande Bharat Projects: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday promised that his government will expand Vande Bharat trains to every corner of the country and charted out the government’s plan to expand bullet train services, adding that three new trains will run in north, east and south India.

“BJP will expand Vande Bharat trains to every corner of the country. Three models of Vande Bharat will run in the country – Vande Bharat Sleeper, Vande Bharat Chaircar and Vande Bharat Metro. Today the work of the Ahmedabad Mumbai Bullet Train is going on in full swing and is almost reaching completion. In the same way, one Bullet Train will run in North India, one Bullet Train in South India and one Bullet Train in Eastern India. Survey work for this will also be started soon,” PM Modi said after the announcement of the manifesto, ‘Sankalp Patra’.

Coming down heavily on the corrupt leaders, the Prime Minister said that strict action will continue against the corrupt.

“Now the poor are getting their rights and those who looted the poor are going to jail. Such strict action will continue against the corrupt, this is Modi’s guarantee. In the national interest, the BJP doesn’t walk away from taking ‘bade’ (big) and ‘kade’ (strict) decisions. For us, the country is bigger than the party,” PM Modi said.

“Nari Shakti Vandan Act has now become a law. BJP removed Article 370 and we brought CAA. We will move forward more rapidly following the mantra of Reform-Perform-Transform,” the Prime Minister added.

CAA, passed by Parliament on December 11, 2019, and getting the President’s assent the following day, met with protests all across the country. The CAA came into effect on January 10, 2020.

PM Modi said that the ruling party will continue to move forward with the resolve of ‘One Nation, One Election’ and considers implementing the Uniform Civil Code significant for the country.

“We will create the necessary infrastructure and ecosystem for strengthening good governance, digital governance and data governance in the country. We will move ahead with the resolve of The BJP, in the same way, considers implementing the Uniform Civil Code significant for the country,” he said.

UCC is contemplated as a common set of laws for citizens governing personal matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption, irrespective of religion, sex, gender or caste.

Notably, Uttarakhand became the first state in India to implement UCC earlier this year.

He further noted that the BJP will start working on its ‘Sankalp Patra’ immediately after the result of Lok Sabha polls, i.e., June 4.

“Work on BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ will begin immediately after the June 4 results. The government has already started working on the 100-day action plan. The ambition of the people of the country is Modi’s mission. We saw the success of Chandrayaan. Now we will experience the pride of Gaganyaan. We just saw India welcoming the world to the G20 and now we will make all efforts to host the Olympics,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister said that the BJP will strengthen the foundation of India through three kinds of infrastructure, including social, digital and physical infrastructure.

“BJP is going to strengthen the foundation of India of the 21st century through three kinds of infrastructure – 1) social infrastructure, 2) digital infrastructure, 3) physical infrastructure. We are opening new educational institutions for social infrastructure…Under physical infrastructure, we are modernising highways, railways, airways, and waterways across the country. Under digital infrastructure, we are expanding 5G network, working on 6G and for keeping Industry 4.0 in mind we are building the digital infrastructure,” he said.

The BJP had appointed a manifesto committee headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh that met twice to deliberate on its contents after the party had launched multiple exercises, including massive campaigns across the country to seek people’s suggestions before the release of the ‘Sankalp Patra’.

The BJP received over 1.5 million suggestions for its manifesto, including more than 400,000 through the NaMo app and over 1.1 million through videos.

The Lok Sabha polls in India are scheduled to take place from April 19, 2024, to June 1, 2024, to choose the 543 representatives for the 18th Lok Sabha. These elections will be conducted over seven phases, with the outcome being declared on June 4. (ANI)

BJP ‘Sankalp Patra’ Presents Roadmap To Capable India: Rajnath

BJP released its election manifesto – ‘Sankalp Patra’ on Sunday in presence of Prime Minister Modi, party chief JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Ahead of the launch of the manifesto, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the gathering of leaders at party headquarters in the national capital and said that the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ presents the roadmap to a self-respecting and capable India with the commitment to the welfare and development of every section of society.

“I am happy and satisfied that, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, we have fulfilled all the promises that we made to the people of the country. Through its ‘Sankalp Patra’, BJP presents the roadmap to a self-respecting and capable India as well as presents its commitment to welfare and development of every section of society in the country,” Rajnath Singh, who chaired BJP’s 27-member manifesto committee, said at the BJP’s Sankalp Patra release programme at its headquarters here.

He said that there has never been any difference between BJP’s words and deeds, and this credibility is its biggest strength.

“We are proud that the BJP fulfils each of the promises from its ‘sankalp patra’. Jo hum kehte hain, wo hum karte hain. There has never been any difference between our words and deeds. Not only the people of BJP but even the citizens of the country have started believing it. This credibility is our biggest strength,” he said.

“Five years back – in 2019 – in the ‘Ghoshana Patra’ that we brought with the clarion call of ‘sankalpit Bharat, sashakt Bharat’, we had presented the idea of India upon the completion of 75 years of its independence as well as the blueprint of the India of 2047. In line with that sentiment, we had made ‘sankalp’ for 5 years. I am happy to tell you that all the resolutions we made in 2019 for the development and public welfare – we successfully fulfilled them by 2024,” he added.

Addressing the event, BJP president JP Nadda said the party’s manifesto reflects what the founding fathers of the BJP had envisioned for the country.

“Our manifesto reflects what the founding fathers of the BJP had envisioned for the country. PM Modi has simplified the vision for the common man to understand and called it ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’,” Nadda.

“Today, as we launch the Sankalp Patra, we will learn and discuss how we will serve the country for the next five years under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi,” he added.

Lashing out at the Congress party over “politics for vote bank”, Nadda accused the Congress lawyers of stopping the judicial process for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

“You gave us a clear mandate and clear results came. You gave a clear mandate and Article 370 was abrogated. We also saw those days when Congress lawyers used to stand up and try to stop the judicial process and say that it would benefit the Bharatiya Janata Party. They were not concerned about the country, Ram Lalla. They did vote bank politics and kept creating obstacles but under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, a grand Ram temple was built,” he said.

The Lok Sabha polls in India are scheduled to take place from April 19, 2024, to June 1, 2024, to choose the 543 representatives for the 18th Lok Sabha. These elections will be conducted over seven phases, with the outcome being declared on June 4.

Around 970 million individuals, out of a total population of 1.44 billion, are eligible to take part in the elections. The legislative assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim will coincide with the general election. Additionally, there will be by-elections for 35 seats across 16 states. (ANI)

Kolkata Cyclone Dana Flights

India Likely To Suspend Flight To Israel

Indian airline companies are likely to announce the suspension of flight operations to and from Tel Aviv, Israel, amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel.

Iran and its proxies operating out of Yemen, Syria and Iraq launched more than 200 projectiles at Israel on Saturday night, including dozens of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones.

According to the sources, “Flight operations to and from Israel are likely to be suspended, an official announcement will follow.”

An Air India flight safely landed in Tel Aviv yesterday at Tel Aviv International Airport and is scheduled to operate from Tel Aviv to India. Two major airlines, El Al and Air India, are operating commercial flights between Israel and India.

India’s two major airlines – Air India and Vistara, have announced the avoidance of Iranian airspace and are taking longer flight paths for their Europe and US operations to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

Indian airlines are altering flight paths for Europe and the Middle East due to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.

Air India and Vistara, two major carriers, have opted to avoid Iranian airspace following the Indian government’s advisory urging citizens to steer clear of travel to Iran. As a result, they are now taking longer routes to ensure passenger safety and operational stability.

Vistara Air issued a statement regarding the change in flight path due to ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel.

In the statement, Vistara Airlines said, “Due to the current situation affecting parts of the Middle East, we are making changes to flight-paths of some of our flights. Contingency routes, which are kept available to ensure operational continuity during such eventualities, are being used instead.”

Vistara Airlines has acknowledged that it will be taking longer routes as a precautionary measure, resulting in increased travel time to reach destinations.

“This may result in longer flight times on certain routes and associated delays. The situation is being monitored closely and further changes will be made if required,” a Vistara spokesperson said.

Air India, the largest Indian airline with extensive operations in Europe, the US, and the Middle East, has said that they are monitoring the developing situation in the Middle East.

Air India said in a statement, “We are closely monitoring the developing situation in the Middle East. Presently, our aircraft will operate on alternate flight paths to and from India, according to the top priority of the safety of our passengers and crew.”

On April 12, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a travel advisory to Indian citizens and asked them to refrain from travelling to both countries until further notice. The ministry further asked people who are currently in Iran or Israel to contact Indian embassies and register themselves.

In an official release, the MEA said, “In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indians are advised not to travel to Iran or Israel till further notice. All those who are currently residing in Iran or Israel are requested to get in touch with Indian Embassies there and register themselves. They are also requested to observe utmost precautions about their safety and restrict their movements to the minimum.”

Tensions escalated between Iran and Israel amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.

Reportedly, Tehran vowed revenge after Israel launched airstrikes on the Iranian embassy in the Syrian capital, Damascus, killing at least seven officials. (ANI)
