Lok Sabha polls

23.66 % Voter Turnout Recorded Till 11 AM, WB Leads With 32.7 % Turnout

The fifth phase of polling for Lok Sabha polls on May 20 across 49 parliamentary constituencies spread over six states and two Union Territories (UTs) saw a voter turnout of 23.66 per cent till 11 am, the Election Commission (ECI) said on Monday.

While Bihar recorded a 21.11 per cent voter turnout, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 21.37 per cent, Jharkhand 26.18 per cent, Ladakh 27.87 per cent, Maharashtra 15.93 per cent Odisha 21.07 per cent and West Bengal 32.70 per cent, the poll body said.

As per the ECI, over 8.95 crore voters, including 4.69 crore males, 4.26 crore females, and 5409 third-gender electors, will decide the fate of 695 candidates in the fifth phase of voting. The fifth phase is witnessing key contests in various constituencies.

Leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Piyush Goyal, Ujjwal Nikam, Karan Bhushan Singh, LJP (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan, JKNC chief Omar Abdullah, and RJD leader Rohini Acharya are looking for electoral success.

The eight states/UTs polling in phase 5 are Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

Cities like Mumbai, Thane, and Lucknow are polling in this phase, which has in the past suffered from urban apathy in voting. Of the 49 Lok Sabha seats, 14 are from Uttar Pradesh, 13 from Maharashtra, 7 from West Bengal, 5 from Bihar, 3 from Jharkhand, 5 from Odisha, and one each from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

In a bid to create a peaceful atmosphere for the electors, a total of 2,000 flying squads, 2105 static surveillance teams, 881 video surveillance teams, and 502 video viewing teams are keeping surveillance round the clock across the 94,732 polling stations.

A total of 216 international border check posts and 565 inter-state border check posts are keeping a strict vigil on any illicit flow of liquor, drugs, cash, and freebies. Strict surveillance has been kept on sea and air routes, the ECI said. (ANI)

Kejriwal

Pradhan Mantri Banaya Tha, Thanedaar Nahi: Kejriwal

Delhi CM addressed a rally in support of South Delhi Lok Sabha Seat candidate Sahiram Pahalwan today.

Kejriwal said that if people press the lotus button, he will have to go to jail again. But if they press the broom button, he will remain among them.

“They are after us. All the party leaders were put in jail. Yesterday, my PA was put in jail. And now they are saying that Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj will also be put in jail. Is this how the country runs? Humne Pradhan Mantri banaya tha, Thanedaar thodi lekar aaye the (We had made the Prime Minister, not a police officer),” he said.

“I ask for votes based on my work. After being in power for ten years, all you (PM Modi) are saying is ‘bhatakti aatma’, ‘nakli santaan’, and ‘mangal sutra’. What is all this?” he added.

Further, CM Kejriwal emphasised that on June 4, the Modi government will not come back.

“They also know this and that is why they are in shock. INDIA bloc government will be formed and Delhi will be given the status of full state. We have improved the electricity, water and health sectors in Delhi. When Delhi gets full statehood, law and order will also be improved. After June 4, Delhi’s LG will work for people. There will be a big change,” Kejriwal said.

The Delhi CM also alleged that his medicines were stopped when he was in Tihar jail.

“I gave free medicines for the whole of Delhi but when I went to Tihar, they stopped my medicines for 15 days. I have been a diabetic patient for 20 years. I have been taking insulin injections for 10 years. My injections were also stopped in Tihar. I kept pleading in front of them that give me an injection. But as soon as the public and media raised their voice, they started giving me the injection,” he added.

Earlier today, exuding confidence in winning the Lok Sabha polls in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Bharatiya Janata Party knows that on June 4, their government will not be formed.

Addressing the rally, he said, “Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se’, 25 May, BJP gayi. They (BJP) are after us, putting all the leaders of our party in jail. What is this? If you can’t win in Delhi, will you put everyone behind bars? I seek a vote based on the development work that our party has done. They know that on June 4, their government will not be formed. They also know that they will get fewer seats than 200.”

AAP’s Sahiram Pehelwan is in the electoral fray against BJP’s Ramvir Singh Bidhuri.

Voting will take place in Delhi in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha polls on May 20.

Meanwhile, the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to target Arvind Kejriwal on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal’s alleged assault by Delhi CM’s personal aide Bibhav Kumar.

Yesteday, Bibhav was arrested by Delhi Police on the complaint of Maliwal.

After his arrest, Bibhav was produced before Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court, which remanded her in police custody for five days.

Maliwal, in her complaint, alleged that Bibhav “slapped” her “at least seven to eight times” while she “continued screaming” and “brutally dragged” her while “kicking” her in her “chest, stomach and pelvis area.”

Delhi Police on Sunday seized a CCTV DVR from Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.

As per the sources, Delhi Police will now retrieve the footage of the DVR with the help of technical experts and then an attempt will be made to analyse the sequence of crime.

Meanwhile, the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to target Arvind Kejriwal on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal’s alleged assault by Delhi CM’s personal aide Bibhav Kumar.

Launching a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister over Swati Maliwal’s alleged assault case, BJP’s Amaravati candidate Naveen Rana said on Sunday that the women of the country should not stand in support of Arvind Kejriwal.

“I wonder who says to the women of Delhi, Punjab and the country that I am your brother. But when his own party’s Rajya Sabha member is beaten inside his own house, he does not say anything about the case. The women of the nation should not stand in support of Arvind Kejriwal,” Rana said.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday alleged that the AAP is trying to save the accused responsible for assaulting the former Delhi Commission for Women chief.

“Arvind Kejriwal should answer why is he not speaking if a woman who is a Rajya Sabha member from his party has been assaulted by his people. She was not just verbally assaulted but physically assaulted too. Instead of giving justice to your MP, you are trying the save the accused. Kejriwal ji you should remember this is India, where ‘Mahabharat’ happened when Draupadi was insulted and the entire lineage was finished. Neither you nor your party will survive,” Chouhan said while speaking to ANI.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari on Sunday came down heavily on Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal, questioned his silence on the alleged assault case of Swati Maliwal and targeted him for protecting the person who misbehaved with Maliwal.

Addressing a press conference, Manoj Tiwari said, “Arvind Kejriwal is protesting to save a person who has misbehaved with a woman at his residence… The same man earlier talked about women’s safety but today, Arvind Kejriwal is protesting to save the man who hit a woman…”

BJP’s Madhavi Latha said that Arvind Kejriwal stands with the man who beats and insults women.

Madhavi told ANI that the issue is not about a party but about the honour of a woman.

“It would have been better if he (Kejriwal) had sat on the road to get justice for Swati, but he is sitting on the road to support the person who has beaten her. Despite having children of his own, he could not have a fatherly feeling. “What would these people have done if Swati had been their real sister or daughter? The issue here is not about the party but about the honour of a woman,” she said. (ANI)

Bharatiya Janata Party member RKS Bhadauria

Former IAF Chief Bhadauria Lauds India’s Response Against Pakistan, China

Former Indian Air Force Chief and Bharatiya Janata Party member, RKS Bhadauria on Sunday, lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “audacious leadership” while highlighting India’s response to the Pulwama terror attack and Galwan border standoff.

He said that Balakot airstrike showed to the world how far India will go to ensure action against terror act and refuted the narrative that India should refrain from acting against Pakistan because it has nuclear bomb.

Addressing an event in the national capital, the former IAF chief said, “Some examples of audacious leadership. First was Balakot, which was not only a response to Pulwama in one stroke but also called the nuclear bluff of Pakistan. It showed the world how far we are going to go to ensure action against a terrorist act, and it created a space within our own think tank, and many of our strategists were saying, because Pakistan is nuclear, don’t even think of crossing the border…we created the space wherein strong action can be taken, I think that was audacious.”

In 2019, after the Pulwama attack — which killed over 40 Indian CRPF personnel — the Indian Air Force carried out an airstrike against Pakistani terror camps in Balakot.

RKS Bhadauria also lauded India’s response to China after Galwan border standoff. He said China’s policy of ‘Salami Slicing’ is “history” adding that Beijing will “never succeed” in its aim.

“What happened after Galwan…the way we reacted, the quid-pro quo action taken by our Army. China knew the extent to which we were ready to go to…trust me, the Chinese policy of ‘Salami Slicing’, trying to get some land here and there, is now history. Never ever is China going to succeed in any such attempt and that again is because of the action demonstrated,” Bhadauria said.

India and China have been in a military standoff for the last three years since May 2020, when the Chinese tried to aggressively alter the status quo on the Line of Actual Control.

The former IAF chief also praised the BJP government for swiftly acting on the Rafale jet deal, and emphasised that the Rafale was the strongest equipment in India’s inventory during the Galwan clash.

“Nearly 15-16 years of effort to get a modern aircraft, Rafale was shrtlisted…when this government came, decision was taken by the leadership that this will be done government to government. Two years flat, contract signed, aircrafts delivered. When Galwan happened, Rafael was the strongest equipment that we had in our inventory and the Chinese knew it,” he added.

Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in March this year. While joining the party, he said the last 10 years have seen ‘landmark decisions’ taken by the BJP-led government at the Centre. (ANI)

Rahul Gandhi Akhilesh Yadav

Stampede-Like Situation Force Rahul, Akhilesh To Cut Short Rally In Prayagraj

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav were forced to cut short the public meeting in Prayagraj’s Phulpur constituency as the crowd broke the barricades and reached the dais, creating a stampede-like situation.

Both the leaders left the rally without addressing the people of the Phulpur constituency in Prayagraj. The campaign rally was organised in support of Amarnath Maurya, who is contesting on an SP ticket for the Phulpur Lok Sabha seat.

The workers of both the Congress and the Samajwadi Party went out of control and attempted to reach the stage to get near Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav. The police were struggling to control the excited crowd that went past the barricades that were put in place.

Voting in the Phulpur Lok Sabha seat will be held on May 25 in the sixth phase of the General elections.

The SP is contesting this seat in alliance with Congress on a 63:17 formula.

In Phulpur, the Samajwadi Party has fielded Amarnath Maurya. He will contest against the BJP’s Praveen Patel.

After the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha election concluded, Samajwadi Party chief and candidate from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat Akhilesh Yadav exuded confidence in winning and said that people are supporting the INDIA bloc as they feel “cheated by the BJP.”

“INDIA alliance will win. The people are supporting the INDIA alliance. The people feel cheated by the BJP,” he said.

Notably, polling for the Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh is being held across all seven phases. Voting in the first four phases has already been completed, while the remaining phases are scheduled for May 20, May 25, and June 1.

The counting of votes for all phases has been scheduled for June 4.In the 2019 polls, the BJP mopped up the bulk of the electoral spoils in the state, winning 62 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats, while ally Apna Dal (S) won two more seats.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi

Raisi’s Insta Post Urges Iranians To Pray For Him After Copter Crash

After Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter made a “hard landing,” the Instagram post of the country’s premier urged the people to ‘pray’ for him on Sunday, as Raisi’s condition continues to remain unknown, according to CNN.

“We call on fellow countrymen to pray for the wellbeing of the President and companions,” a story shared on Raisi’s Instagram said.

Raisi’s condition currently remains unknown, Iranian state news agency IRNA has reported, after the helicopter he was traveling in crashed in the country’s East Azerbaijan Province.

According to Iran’s Minister of Health Bahram Eynollahi, the scene where the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi crashed on Sunday is extremely foggy, making it difficult for rescuers to locate, and conduct the search operation.

“We have set up treatment facilities. We are now in the area and all rescue forces are busy searching,” Eynollahi said on state TV Sunday. “We have deployed all medical facilities, including emergency medicine, surgery and ambulance.”

The Iranian military has been in the area of the crash since it was first reported, Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri said, according to CNN.

“All the facilities, equipment and capacities of the army, the (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) and the police command are being used to provide relief and search for the helicopter of the president and his companions,” Bagheri said.

The armed forces are also investigating the source of the crash, he said.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Interior minister also confirmed, earlier today the “hard landing” of helicopter carrying President Raisi.

In an address to the national TV that one of the helicopters of the president’s convoy had a hard landing, he said, “Various rescue groups are moving towards the site, but due to the fog and bad weather, it may take time to reach the area. The work is under control.”

The local Iranian media have reported that it is heavily raining in the area in Varzaghan District and it is hard for the rescue and search teams to walk in the dense fog.

There is still no information on any injuries or damage from the earlier chopper crash that involved Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and high officials in northwest Iran.

On Sunday, as President Raisi was landing in the Varzaqan region after attending a ceremony to open a dam on Iran’s border with Azerbaijan, his helicopter had a crash.

On board the chopper were Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, Hojjatoleslam Al Hashem, the head of the Friday prayer in Tabriz, Malek Rahmati, the governor of the province of East Azarbaijan, and several other people.

Rescue teams have reached the city of Jolfa in the northwestern Iranian province of East Azarbaijan and trying to locate the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter which made hard-landing. The region is impassable and the fog has made search operations challenging. (ANI)

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma

Rohit Accuses IPL Broadcaster Of Recording His Pvt Conversations

Mumbai Indians (MI) batter and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on Sunday called out the broadcasters of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for allegedly recording his private conversations and playing them on air violating right to privacy.

Rohit took to X, saying that the lives of cricketers has become intrusive because of cameras recording each and every step and conversation, putting the player’s privacy at risk. He also said that content creation focused on views and engagement will “break the trust” between fans, cricketers and cricket.

It is, though, not clear which conversation of Rohit was played on air.

“The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days. Despite asking Star Sports to not record my conversation, it was and was also then played on air, which is a breach of privacy. The need to get exclusive content and focused only on views and engagement will one day break the trust between the fans, cricketers and cricket. Let better sense prevail,” tweeted Sharma.

Notably, Rohit’s team Mumbai Indians (MI) had a dissapointing Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign under the leadership of new captain Hardik Pandya, who had made his return to the Blue and Gold side following a great stint with Gujarat Titans (GT) from 2022-23, which also involved winning the title in the franchise’s debut season.

MI finished at the bottom of the points table with four wins, 10 losses and eight points.

Rohit had a decent season with the bat, scoring 417 runs at an average of 32.07 and a strike rate of 150. He scored a century and fifty, with the best score of 105*. (ANI)

Kejriwal's Former Bibhav Kumar

Bibhav Arrested As Per Law Brought By AAP: Sandeep Dikshit

Amid the political war of words between the ruling AAP and the BJP over the arrest of CM Arvind Kejriwal’s former aide Bibhav Kumar in connection with the alleged assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal; senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit said the former was arrested “as per a law brought by AAP”.

Speaking to ANI on Sunday, he said only a proper investigation would reveal what exactly went down between Maliwal and Bibhav at the CM’s Civil Lines residence.

“Only a thorough probe will bring out and determine beyond any reasonable doubt as to what exactly happened between Swati Maliwal and Bibhav Kumar. When the ‘Nirbhaya’ (horrific and fatal gangrape of a paramedical student in the national capital on December 16, 2012) incident happened, the AAP hit the streets and raised chorus for a law as per which the victim’s statement in incidents of sexual crime or violence against women would be taken as the truth and the onus will be on the accused to prove his innocence. A legislation to this effect was drafted and brought into force thereafter. However, now, when action follows after a woman alleged that she was wronged, it should be assumed that she was speaking the truth. Bibhav Kumar was arrested as per this law. The legislation was brought by the AAP, and none else. We have flagged concerns over this legislation earlier,” the Congress leader, who is the son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit, told ANI on Sunday.

Earlier, on Saturday, Bibhav was arrested for the alleged assault on the AAP Rajya Sabha MP Maliwal.

Responding to his arrest, CM Kejriwal accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of playing a ‘Jail ka Khel’ (game of putting leaders in jail) with the Aam Aadmi Party, adding that he would lead a ‘Jail Bharo’ march to the BJP’s national headquarters on Sunday, along with top party heavyweights as well as workers.

Earlier, in a personalised video message, Kejriwal said, “They put me, Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, and Sanjay Singh behind bars. Today, they put my PA in jail. Now they are saying they will put Raghav Chadha, Atishi, and Saurabh Bharadwaj in jail. Perhaps it is our fault that we built schools and mohalla clinics, while also providing electricity free of cost, which the BJP couldn’t accomplish. I would like to tell the Prime Minister: you are playing a ‘jail ka khel’ against us. Tomorrow, I will lead a ‘jail bharo’ march to the BJP headquarters along with all my top leaders, MLAs, and MPs at noon. You can put in jail whoever you want. You might think that you can crush and finish off AAP by putting our leaders in jail. But our ideas resonate with the people and reign supreme in their hearts and minds.”

After his arrest on Saturday, Boibhav was produced before Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court, which remanded her in police custody for five days.

The former aide of the AAP supremo earlier emailed Delhi Police, stating that he was ready to cooperate in the ongoing probe into Maliwal’s assault claim while adding that they should also take cognizance of his complaint.

Bibhav lodged a counter-complaint with the police on Friday, accusing Maliwal of gaining ‘unauthorised entry’ into the CM’s Civil Lines residence and ‘verbally abusing’ him.

In his complaint, Kejriwal’s former PA charged Maliwal with unauthorised entry, verbal abuse, and threats while also claiming the BJP’s involvement in the matter.

Maliwal, in her complaint, alleged that Bibhav “slapped” her “at least seven to eight times” while she “continued screaming” and “brutally dragged” her while “kicking” her in her “chest, stomach and pelvis area.” (ANI)

Mamata Banerjee

Mamata Threatening Ramakrishna Mission, Bharat Sevashram, ISKCON To Vote: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her remarks against Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha and said threats are being issued against these socio-religious organisations to please their vote bank.

While addressing a public meeting in Purulia, PM Modi said, “The TMC government, which intimidated and threatened the people of Bengal during elections, has crossed all limits this time. Today, in the country and the world, ISKCON, Ram Krishna Mission, and Bharat Sevashram Sangh are known for service and morality, but today the Chief Minister of Bengal is openly threatening them, warning them from an open platform.”

“There are millions of followers associated with these missions all over the world, and their sole aim is to serve the people. The Bengal government has pointed a finger at him and is threatening in his name. So much courage! Just to please their vote bank,” he added.

The Prime Minister’s statement comes after the West Bengal CM said on Saturday, “There is a maharaj in Behrampore; I have been hearing about him for a long time. Kartik Maharaj. He says he will not allow any TMC agent in the poll booth. I do not consider him a saint because he is directly involved in politics. I used to respect Bharat Sevashram Sangha a lot. It has been on my list of respected organisations for a long time.”

PM Modi also slammed the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party over the Sandeshkhali incident, saying that to save their ‘Shahjahan’, the TMC people are blaming the sisters of Sandeshkhali and questioning their character.

He said that the TMC that came to power by saying that it would protect Maa, Maati, and Manush is now devouring them.

“TMC came to power by saying that it would protect Maa, Maati, and Manush. Today, TMC is devouring Maa, Maati, and Manush. The women of Bengal have lost faith in TMC. The sin that has happened in Sandeshkhali has forced the sisters of Bengal to think. The TMC people do not even consider the sisters of SC/ST families as human beings. To save their Shahjahan, the TMC people are blaming the sisters of Sandeshkhali and questioning their character. The kind of language they are using for them, every daughter of Bengal will destroy TMC with her vote,” PM Modi said while addressing a public meeting in Purulia.

“TMC gives the slogan ‘Maa, Maati, Maanush’ yet does nothing to protect them. The incident of Sandeshkhali has shaken the women of Bengal. TMC has dehumanised the women of SC and ST communities to protect Shahjahan Sheikh. Leaders of TMC are pointing fingers at the women who suffered atrocities,” he added.

Sandeshkhali, a village in North 24 Parganas district, started hitting the headlines in February this year when villagers, mostly women, came out on the streets against the ruling TMC and Shahjahan (the main accused in the incident).

Women accused Shahjahan and his aides of perpetrating atrocities on them along with gobbling up their land. Multiple women on the island accused Shajahan and his aides of “land-grab and sexual assault” under coercion.

PM Modi continued his attack on the opposition leaders and promised the people that after June 4, when the BJP forms the new government, he will not let corrupt people live outside the jail.

“I am saying it now that I won’t let the corrupt live outside jail. Modi is giving you another guarantee: after June 4, when we form the new govt, corrupt people will have to spend their entire lives in jail,” he said.

Reiterating that there could be no reservation based on religion, PM Modi accused the leaders of the INDIA bloc of undermining the Constitution and promoting infiltration.

“Baba Saheb Ambedkar was against reservations on the basis of religion, but today the INDI alliance wants to give reservations on the basis of religion. In Karnataka, these people gave OBC quota reservations to Muslims, TMC is standing shoulder to shoulder with Congress in this conspiracy. Do you want to put an end to your reservations? You are not the vote bank for TMC and Congress, so these parties don’t care about you,” the Prime Minister said.

“The INDI Alliance has used every tool in their arsenal, but all their attacks have failed because of the shield protecting my citizens. I stand as that shield for you. I have exposed their deeds to you. They want to undermine the Constitution, promote infiltrators, and oppose the implementation of the CAA to appease their vote bank,” he added.

Coming down heavily on the TMC-led West Bengal government over the teacher recruitment scam, PM Modi said, “In Bengal, where Maa Saraswati is worshipped, the TMC government steals even in education. They ruined the future of thousands of youth in the recruitment of teachers.”

“TMC and Congress are two sides of the same coin. Huge amounts of money have been found at the houses of Congress leaders. Similarly, the leaders of TMC also have bundles of money with them. They abuse Modi, but have I ever tried to hide anything from you?” he added. (ANI)

'Chandu Champion' Kartik Aaryan

I Didn’t Eat Sugar For A Year: Kartik For ‘Chandu Champion’

Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan has left audiences astounded with his remarkable transformation for the much-anticipated film ‘Chandu Champion’.

The 33-year-old actor unveiled the trailer for the Kabir Khan directorial in his hometown of Gwalior, marking a poignant moment in his career.

The trailer launch event, held on May 18 at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium, witnessed Kartik Aaryan sharing insights into his journey while portraying the titular character, Chandu.

Speaking candidly about the rigorous process behind his physical and emotional preparation, Aaryan revealed the lengths he went to in order to do justice to the role.

“I didn’t eat sugar for a year, and there was a time when I was having just one meal a day,” shared Aaryan, shedding light on his strict dietary regimen.

Embodying the resilience of Chandu, the actor immersed himself completely in the character, forsaking other film projects for over a year and a half to focus solely on this transformative role.

Aaryan expressed his initial disbelief at the real-life story of Chandu Champion. He credited the inspiration drawn from the remarkable journey of Murlikant Petkar, whose resilience in the face of adversity served as a guiding light for the actor’s portrayal.

When asked about his mental, physical, and emotional preparation for the role, Kartik revealed, “I was prepared for it the same day I came to know that Kabir Khan wanted to make a film with me.”

“This is the one film in my career that I’ll always be very proud of,” he asserted, underscoring the significance of ‘Chandu Champion’ in his artistic evolution.

When asked if he ever felt helpless at any point in his early career, he shared his thoughts, saying, “I don’t use the word helpless, sometimes it’s natural to feel helpless, and that happens with everyone in life. Everyone has ups and downs in life, and even I have had my share of struggles. But if you ask me if I want to change anything in my journey, I won’t like to change a single thing. I would like to have the same journey so far yet again.”

“I have felt helpless at times, but I’ve learned from the hard work and dedication of my parents. There is no gain without pain and if I am standing here with a good movie in front of you, it has also taken a lot of strength and sacrifices, which I am proud of,” Kartik added, reflecting further on his struggles.

Reflecting on his humble beginnings as an aspiring actor and the nostalgic memories that keep him grounded, the ‘Luka Chuppi’ actor said, “Today I have everything to become a hero, dreamed in this city, but even today when I used to sit on my first scooter (Sunny) and circle the fort, it feels very good to remember that day,” Kartik shared,

The visit to his hometown was particularly emotional for Aaryan’s father, who was visibly moved by the outpouring of love and congratulations from the city. “Papa became very emotional when the whole city is congratulating him,” Kartik revealed, highlighting the pride and joy felt by his family amidst the celebrations.

The trailer of ‘Chandu Champion’ offers a glimpse into the extraordinary life of its protagonist, showcasing his evolution from a village dreamer to a national hero.

Kartik Aaryan’s portrayal of Chandu captures the essence of resilience and determination, resonating deeply with audiences.

Director Kabir Khan also commended Aaryan’s commitment to the role, highlighting his impressive physical transformation. With no use of steroids, Aaryan shed an astounding 32 per cent of body fat to embody the character authentically. Khan took to social media to share his pride in Aaryan’s achievement, emphasizing the actor’s unwavering resolve throughout the journey.

The unveiling of ‘Chandu Champion’ promises a cinematic experience replete with heartwarming moments and inspirational storytelling.

Scheduled for release on June 14, the film aims to celebrate the indomitable spirit of a true sportsman. (ANI)

Anurag Thakur

Those Who Indulged In J-K killings Will Be Responded: Anurag

Condemning the recent incidents of shooting by terrorists in two different incidents in Shopian and Anantnag, respectively, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that some are causing such incidents as they are discouraged by the improving situations in Jammu and Kashmir.

“A few people are causing such incidents because they are discouraged. They should understand that the people of Jammu and Kashmir no longer support separatism, terrorism, or stone-pelting,” Anurag Thakur said.

Further stating that such people will be dealt with using stringent steps, he said, “Tourism is increasing day by day, and the morale of many people is going down. Those who indulged in killings in the Jammu and Kasmir will be strongly responded to.”

Speaking on the same, former deputy chief minister of the erstwhile state, Kavinder Gupta said that the attack was aimed at disturbing and hurting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to ANI on Sunday, the senior BJP leader said, “There was a record tourist footfall in Kashmir last year, with the number of visitors estimated at 1,70,00,000. Hence, at a time when tourism is looking up and local businesses and livelihoods are booming, the attack was aimed at bringing back the dark days of terror in the region. It was intended to hurt the tourism prospects at a time when there is prosperity all around in Kashmir. I strongly suspect Pakistan to be behind this attack. However, the nefarious designs of people, who carry out terror hits in exchange for money and at the behest of their handlers (across the border) wouldn’t succeed. Their bid to bring back the reign of terror in the Valley will never succeed.”

Meanwhile, a former BJP Sarpanch, Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, was killed, and a couple from Jaipur were injured in two separate incidents of firing by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian and Anantnag districts, respectively, late on Saturday night, police said.

In the second incident, a couple from Jaipur was injured in the Yannar area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The police stated that the terrorists fired upon and injured a lady, Farha, a resident of Jaipur, and her spouse, Tabrez, at Yannar in Anantnag. The injured were evacuated and taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to sources, the condition of the injured couple is stable. (ANI)
