Ajit Pawar

Ajit Pawar Hints At Passing Baramati Seat To His Son

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday expressed his lack of interest in contesting from the Baramati assembly constituency and hinted that his son might replace him on the seat.

He also said that it was for his party to decide whether his son, Jay Pawar would contest in his place from Baramati.

Ajit said, “It’s democracy. I am not much interested in it because I have been part of 7-8 elections. If people and party workers think in such a way, then the parliamentary board should think about it. If the parliamentary board and the local party workers want it then we are ready to do it.”

Baramati assembly seat has been considered a stronghold for Pawar as he was re-elected from the same in 1995,1999, 2004, 2009, 2014, and 2019. He is currently on a state-wide tour to promote schemes launched by the state government for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Polls.

Earlier on Tuesday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that he made a huge mistake by fielding his wife, Sunetra Pawar, against Supriya Sule from Baramati in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

“I love all my sisters. One shouldn’t allow politics to enter homes. I made a mistake in fielding Sunetra against my sister. This shouldn’t have happened. But the parliamentary board (of NCP) made a decision. Now I feel it was wrong,” Pawar said.

Following a split in the Sharad Pawar-led NCP, the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the NCP announced Sunetra Pawar as its candidate from Baramati.

NCP (SP) candidate Supriya Sule retained her Baramati Lok Sabha seat by more than 1.55 lakh votes in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Supriya Sule emerged victorious in the Lok Sabha polls from the Baramati seat, defeating the National Congress Party’s Sunetra Ajitdada Pawar. Sule polled 7,32,312 votes, while Sunetra Pawar garnered 5,73,979 votes. (ANI)

His poem reads, “Main bhi bina Kundi lagakar soti, Kaash main bhi ladka hoti, Jhalli banke daudti udti, Saari raat doston ke saath phirti, Kaash main bhi ladka hoti…” (I would sleep without locking the door, I wish I were a boy. Carefree, I would run and fly, Roaming with friends all night, I wish I were a boy…)

Pinarayi Vijayan Wayanad

Vijayan Criticises Nation’s Lack Of Precise Warning Systems In I-Day Speech

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan acknowledged the impact of the recent landslides that hit Wayanad and criticised the lack of a precise disaster warning system in the country while addressing the state on the occasion of 78th Independence Day celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram.

During his address on Thursday, the Kerala CM also emphasised collective efforts for the overall resilience and recovery of the state. While expressing sorrow, the Chief Minister urged citizens to move beyond their grief and focus on collective resilience and recovery.

“Today, we celebrate India’s 78th Independence Day in an atmosphere of profound sorrow due to the Wayanad disaster. This grief is not limited to Kerala alone; the entire nation shares in this pain. However, we cannot afford to be paralyzed by sorrow. We must rise above the adversity and focus on collective efforts for the overall resilience and recovery of our state,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the need for precise predictions has been demonstrated by numerous previous experiences. He also urged the country to take necessary steps to rise to that level of preparedness.

“Even though we boast of achievements in science and technology, it’s troubling that, even in the 21st century, our country still struggles to accurately predict natural disasters and establish effective defences to protect lives and property. The need for precise predictions, rather than general warnings, has been demonstrated by numerous experiences worldwide,” CM Vijayan said.

CM Vijayan highlighted the state’s achievements in health, education, and governance. “Kerala leads in sustainable development goals and is recognized for its effective governance and low corruption rates. The state also boasts impressive indicators in law and order, health care, and education,” he said. The CM also reaffirmed Kerala’s commitment to evolving into a “Nava Kerala,” aligned with modern needs and aspirations.

The Chief Minister also addressed various state-level reforms and projects. He highlighted plans to develop temple eco-tourism, reinstate old educational policies, and enhance the ration distribution system. Vijayan emphasized a commitment to social justice and the use of artificial intelligence for state welfare. He reiterated his administration’s focus on eliminating poverty, combating violence, and supporting weaker sections of society.

The Chief Minister paid tribute to the brave hearts of India’s freedom struggle. “One of their foremost dreams was to establish a democratic system of governance,” Vijayan noted.

He praised India’s enduring democracy, highlighting that while many newly independent nations have faced democratic backsliding, India has successfully preserved and strengthened its democratic institutions.

While reflecting on the nation’s democratic achievements and challenges, CM Vijayan also addressed India’s significant progress over the past 78 years, citing advancements in literacy, education, health, and technology. He noted that India has become a global hub for IT and startups and has achieved remarkable milestones in science and space exploration.

Expressed concern over the revival of superstitions and regressive practices, the Chief Minister said, “At the same time, we cannot ignore the decline in our collective scientific consciousness. It’s not just a mere lapse; we’re witnessing a revival of superstitions, harmful practices, and regressive rituals.”

“Forces are attempting to bring back the darkness we once overcame, using caste and communalism as weapons. This threatens not only our progress but also the very fabric of our secularism,” he added.

CM Vijayan outlined several key initiatives, including the initiatives promoting solar energy and green hydrogen of the central government, new industrial clusters, and enhanced infrastructure development. He emphasized the need for precise disaster predictions and effective defenses, a call for improvement that resonates with recent challenges. (ANI)

This time in the budget we have made a huge provision with huge schemes to promote natural farming. Today, if any food basket of organic food can be created for the world, then it can be my country, which can be made by our farmers. We can become the organic food basket of the world. We must strive to make lives of farmers better,” he said.

Independence Day Delhi

Delhi Under Thick Security Blanket Ahead Of I-Day

As the country gears up for the 78th Independence Day celebrations, a heavy security cordon has been thrown around the national capital with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to lead the celebrations in Delhi.

PM Modi will unfurl the Tricolour at the ramparts of the Red Fort on Thursday morning and deliver his customary address to the nation from there. Delhi Police have significantly intensified the security to ensure a secure and peaceful event. These include increased surveillance by installing AI-based cameras, extensive vehicle checks, and enhanced patrolling across the city.

Security personnel have been deployed in and around the Red Fort, and bomb disposal staff have been carrying out checking of the nearby vicinity of Red Fort along with the dog squad.

The Delhi Police has implemented advanced CCTV analytics around the Red Fort. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North, Manoj Kumar Meena said that this is to reduce human error and ensure any suspicious movements are promptly detected and addressed. “Every year on August 15, Delhi Police makes tight arrangements. This time, arrangements are being made to accommodate around 22,000 attendees comfortably. CCTVs have been installed in the area surrounding the Red Fort to ensure security,” DCP Meena said.

Special cameras were installed on the Door Frame Metal Detector (DFMD), which will be connected to the facial recognition system to keep a check on invitees coming to Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day. Delhi Police, along with Border Security Force personnel, have been patrolling the Yamuna. The raids are being monitored through binoculars in the Yamuna.

As per the police, more than 10,000 security personnel, including Delhi Police and paramilitary jawans, have been deployed in and around the Red Fort and other crucial locations in central and north Delhi.

In central Delhi, the Delhi Police have set up a CCTV Control Room at Tughlaq Road Police Station. This control room is equipped with feeds from 437 newly installed CCTV cameras across the city, allowing real-time monitoring of potential threats. Inspector Pradeep Rawat of Delhi Police said, “By monitoring the CCTV cameras’ feed, we communicate information about any suspicious movement or vehicle to the patrolling team in the area.”

Security protocols are being strictly followed to protect high-profile guests and officials. DCP New Delhi, Devesh Mahla, emphasized, “In view of VVIP security on August 15, adequate forces including local police and CAPF will be deployed as per SOP and based on inputs.” Central Delhi is particularly fortified, with additional measures concentrated around the Red Fort.

“In view of the celebrations, the police also conducted mock drills ahead of Independence Day. “Our dedicated force will manage the movement of VVIPs, and we appeal to citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity,” DCP (New Delhi) Devesh Mahla said.

To further bolster safety, Delhi Police have engaged in a variety of preventative actions. Posters of wanted terrorists have been displayed in prominent areas such as Khan Market, and patrols by Delhi Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) are active along the Yamuna River, Sarojini Market, and Lajpat Nagar among other crowded markets.

Additionally, security assessments have been conducted at various hotels, and illegal guest houses in South East Delhi have been sealed. ADCP South East Harsh Indora said, “Our force is deployed across the district. Vehicles are being thoroughly checked, and CCTV cameras are continuously monitored.”

In anticipation of large crowds and potential security risks, security forces have ramped up their operations at the airport also. At IGI Airport’s Terminal 3, a comprehensive vehicle check is underway with the assistance of a specialized dog squad.

To further enhance security, the Red Fort area has been divided into multiple zones, each covered by surveillance cameras. A makeshift control room has been established within the Red Fort premises, staffed around the clock by various security agencies to oversee operations and coordinate responses.

The theme of this year’s Independence Day is ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’. The celebrations will serve as a platform to provide a renewed push to the Government’s efforts towards transforming the country into a developed nation by 2047, a PMO release said earlier.

According to the release, around 6,000 special guests have been invited to witness the celebrations at Red Fort this year with the aim to increase Jan Bhagidari in this festival of national fervour. These people from different walks of life categorised as youth, tribal communities, farmers, women and other special guests, have excelled in various fields with the help of various government schemes/initiatives.
