IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders Rinku Singh

God’s Plan Baby! Varun Praises Cricketer Rinku Singh

Over the past year, youngster Rinku Singh has truly showcased his potential, delivering match-winning performances for team India and IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

On Tuesday, he turned hero with the ball to help India win the third T20I against Sri Lanka.

During defence of 138 runs, when Sri Lanka needed to score nine runs in 12 balls, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav decided to experiment, sending Rinku, who had barely taken three T20 wickets before, to bowl some spin during the 19th over.

The move paid off as Rinku managed to dismiss Kusal Perera and Ramesh Mandis while giving away just three runs. Suryakumar came to bowl the final over and gave away just two runs and got two wickets. India won the match in Super Over after it ended in a tie.

Interestingly, on Thursday, during the teaser launch of his upcoming series ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ in Mumbai, Varun praised Rinku.

When actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu asked Varun about one of his Instagram posts that had the caption ‘God’s plan’ and asked him the reason behind it, Varun shared that he was inspired by Rinku.

“God’s plan. It is a song by Drake but it is famous because of Rinku Singh. Even I believe. Rinku bowled a fabulous 19th over,” he said.

Rinku Singh has made that “GOD’S PLAN BABY” phrase so popular lately.

Earlier this year when KKR lifted the IPL 2024 title and were crowned the champions for the 3rd time in the league, the team’s co-owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan entered the stadium to meet and greet every player after the win.

He met with Rinku Singh in a cool way. They both shared a warm hug and reiterated, “God’s plan baby”.

Undoubtedly, desi fans now instantly think of Rinku Singh when they hear someone saying ‘God’s plan’. (ANI)

Shambhu Border Blockade: SC Asks Punjab, Haryana To Suggest Neutral Names For Committee

The Supreme Court on Friday asked the states of Haryana and Punjab to suggest the names of neutral persons who can be included in a committee to negotiate with the protesting farmers at the Shambhu border near Ambala, where they have been camping since February 13.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and R Mahadevan emphasised the need to inspire confidence in the farmers and therefore suggested both the states come out with common names for the committee.

“We want a very smooth beginning in terms of dialogue. There are very good, very seasoned practical personalities in the country who have the experience to their credit and they know the ins and outs of the problem. Please think of some neutral personality. It will inspire more confidence in the farmers,” the bench said.

The apex court has now posted the matter for hearing on August 12 while asking Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and Punjab Advocate General Gurminder Singh to suggest common names for the committee.

It also continued its earlier order of maintaining a status quo on the border.

The Supreme Court was hearing an appeal against the July 10 Punjab and Haryana High Court order by which it had directed it to open the highway and clear the barricading within seven days.

On the last date of the hearing, the top court had said that it was proposing to constitute some independent committee and asked both the states to suggest common names.

The bench had also observed that it’s more than a year now and the national highway can’t remain blocked.

In February, the Haryana government had set up barricades on the Ambala-New Delhi national highway when farmers’ bodies announced that farmers would march to Delhi in support of various demands, including a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops. (ANI)

Paris 2024 Olympics Manu Bhaker

Manu Bhaker Qualifies In Women’s 25m Pistol; Contention For Historic Third Medal

At the women’s 25m pistol qualification during the Paris 2024 Olympics, Manu Bhaker emerged as India’s top performer keeping alive the prospects of a third medal in the 25 m pistol shooting event.

After the precision stage, Bhaker has been ranked second overall with a score of 590-24x, showcasing her strong form. Her compatriot, Esha Singh, finished 18th with a score of 581 points.

The precision stage results highlight Bhaker’s consistent shooting prowess, positioning her as a strong contender as the competition progresses. With her impressive performance so far, Bhaker is not only leading the Indian shooters but is also well-positioned to secure a medal. Notably, Bhaker has already earned two bronze medals in Paris, and she is now aiming to achieve an unprecedented third medal.

In contrast, 19 year old Esha Singh who made her Olympic debut did not qualify in the same event.

However, despite being a newcomer on this global stage, Singh has shown remarkable potential. Her performance in the precision stage of the 25m pistol event indicated that she could be a strong competitor in the qualification round.

Last year, she made headlines at the Asian Games by clinching three medals–one gold and two silver.

This stage at the Olympic Games was crucial for both Bhaker and Singh as they strove to improve their standings and secure a place in the final rounds.

All eyes were on the pair to see if they could build on their current performances and make India proud with their shooting skills in this high-stakes Olympic event.

Meanwhile, earlier today, Tulika Maan conceded defeat against Cuba’s Idalys Ortiz in the judo women’s +78kg round of 32 event.

Maan suffered a 10-0 defeat against Ortiz advanced to the round of 16 of the event.

The match ended in just 28 seconds.

Maan will now feature in the first round of the repechages. (ANI)

Siddaramaiah MUDA scam

Central Govt Attempting To Destabilize Elected State Govt By Misusing Raj Bhavan, Says Siddaramaiah

Accusing the central government of misusing the Raj Bhawan to destabilize the state government, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said that the Governor is acting as a puppet of the Central Government, BJP-JDS alliance.

Speaking to the media at the Mysuru airport before leaving for the Kodagu district, the CM said that the Governor issuing a show cause notice to him over the MUDA scam is illegal and unconstitutional.

“The central government is misusing the Raj Bhavan in an attempt to destabilize the elected government,” he said.

Responding to a question from the media about recent developments in the case where prosecution has been allowed, the CM mentioned that he did not attend the cabinet meeting held yesterday as it would set a precedent for bad tradition. Therefore, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar was appointed to conduct the Cabinet meeting. After a detailed discussion about the show cause notice, it was opined that the notice issued was illegal, and it was decided to advise the Governor to withdraw it.

Noting that KJ Abraham is a blackmailer and that taking action on his complaint is illegal, the CM said that he has filed complaints against many individuals in the same manner.

He emphasized that he has not committed any crime.

“On July 26, 2024, the complaint was made at 11:30 a.m., and the Governor issued a show cause notice within a single day. All laws should be scrutinized when issuing a notice to the Chief Minister of an elected government with 136 MLAs who have the people’s blessings. The notice was issued hastily without proper consideration. On the same day, Special Duty Officer Prabhu Shankar contacted the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, LK Ateeq, and informed him that the show cause notice was ready and should be received. However, it was not received as it was late at night,” Siddaramaiah said.

The CM explained that the notice was issued in haste at 2:00 p.m. the next day.

Former ministers Shashikala Jolle, Murugesh Nirani, and Janardhan Reddy have had cases against them for years. The Chief Minister questioned why no action had been taken against them and stated that this current action was unnecessary.

“The Council of Ministers should advise the Governor. We have not advised him. The Chief Secretary sent a detailed letter to the Governor on July 26 at 6:30 p.m., which the Governor has not acknowledged. The government constituted a judicial commission on July 14 regarding the MUDA case, and the commission’s report is awaited. The commission will investigate and submit a report if there are any mistakes. The Governor issued the notice without considering this,” the CM said.

The CM stated that during his visit to Delhi, the party high command and leaders were convinced of the facts and understood the situation.

Responding to opposition leader R. Ashok’s statement that the Chief Minister was scared after the Governor issued the notice, the CM said, “Ashok may be scared, but why should I be scared? They have not issued the notice as per the law. If someone has done something wrong, they should be afraid. I have not done anything wrong.”

The Chief Minister said that there is no objection to the BJP holding a padayatra. He noted that Union Minister and JDS President H.D. Kumaraswamy had mentioned that there was nothing in this case and that there was no need for a padayatra. He has earlier emphasized that attention should be given to the damage caused by heavy rains and floods. The Chief Minister questioned if this has been forgotten and noted that Kumaraswamy’s participation in the padayatra seems to not be of his own free will.

The Chief Minister stated that he has sought reports on damaged houses, roads, bridges, and electric poles due to the rains.

Answering a question about the Revenue Minister’s statement that houses would be built and compensation would also be provided, the CM said that it has been decided in the Cabinet that, as per SDRF guidelines, compensation will be provided and houses will also be constructed.

He mentioned that he will be going to Nanjangudu tomorrow morning and will check the damage caused by the rain in the Kodagu district today. (ANI)
