MUDA Case: Shivakumar Rules Out Siddaramaiah Resigning

MUDA Case: Shivakumar Rules Out Siddaramaiah Resigning

Despite getting an adverse verdict from the Karnataka High Court on the Governor’s nod to sanction prosecution against him, Siddaramaiah has got the backing of his cabinet colleagues who have ruled out any need for him to resign.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday said that there is no question of resignation and this is “political conspiracy” by the BJP.

Speaking to reporters, DK Shivakumar said, “There is no question (of resignation) by CM. He has not done anything wrong. He is not involved with any scam. This is a political conspiracy by the BJP to all of us, to all the opposition leaders of the country…so there is no question of why Chief Minister done anything wrong, they are creating problem. We stand by him, we support him. He has been doing a good work for the country, party and state.”

Shivakumar further denied the setback to the Chief Minister and iterated that there is a “big conspiracy” against all the leaders of the Congress. However, he asserted that the party respects the legal system of the country.

“I am telling you again, there is no setback to the CM. It is a big conspiracy on all our leaders, including me which we have faced earlier. Didn’t I come out clean? So, we will fight it out. We respect the legal system of this country. Injustice will not be flown from the seat of justice. We will get justice,” Shivakumar said.

Reacting to the judgement, Karnataka Congress asserted that fight against “injustice” will continue. They also accused state Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot of “covering-up” complaints against Kumaraswamy and other BJP leaders.

“The fight against Injustice will continue; there is no question of yielding to the Governor’s attempts to destabilize the government or the BJP’s conspiracy. It is well known that the Governor has tried to cover up complaints against Kumaraswamy and other BJP leaders. The Governor’s questioning of how these complaints were leaked only provides further evidence of his biased politics,” the state unit of the Congress said on X.

The BJP however is taking the fight to the Congress and has demanded the immediate resignation of the Chief Minister.

Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra said, “BJP has been relentlessly fighting against the corrupt Congress government. We have been fighting against the corrupt CM Siddaramaiah…When BJP took up the issue of MUDA scam…HC said that the petition challenged by the CM has been dismissed. The judge has observed that all are equal before the law. At this juncture I demand CM Siddaramiah ji to resign.”

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed Chief Minister Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging the approval given by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for conducting investigation against him in the alleged illegalities in Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) allotting sites to his wife.

In his judgment the single judge bench of Justice Nagaprasanna said that the order of sanction for prosecution does not suffer from non-application of mind by the Governor.

It is alleged that MUDA illegally allotted 14 sites to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife in the prime location of Mysuru city. The High Court, in its interim order passed on August 19, had granted a temporary relief to Siddaramaiah by directing a special court in Bengaluru to defer further proceedings and not to take any precipitative action pursuant to the sanction granted by the Governor.

On August 31, the office of the Karantaka Governor told the high court in the state that the sanction granted to prosecute Karnataka Chief Minister K Siddaramaiah in the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam was done after “application of mind.” (ANI)

Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam Union Minister Pralhad Joshi Siddaramaiah

Pralhad Calls For CBI Inquiry In MUDA Scam, Asks K’taka CM To Resign

Following Karanataka High Court’s dismissal of the petition filed by Siddaramaiah challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s approval on conducting an investigation in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday demanded a CBI inquiry, urging Siddaramaiah to step down as the Chief Minister of the state.

“There are more than 500-1000 sites allocated to other people also illegally. Most of them have happened in the last few months and hence they have to be investigated. Henceforth, the Chief Minister of Karnataka has to resign for the investigation to be conducted impartially,” Joshi said.

The Dharwad BJP MP further said that the Karnataka High Court’s ruling pertaining to the MUDA scam stands as an “eye opener” for the current Congress government in power in Karnataka.

“After such a detailed hearing, the facts which have come out, it is really an eye opener for all the people in power. This is a huge scam and it can’t happen without any political influence. I strongly urge Chief Minister to resign and demand for the investigation by the CBI,” Joshi said while speaking to ANI.

Reacting to the judgement, BJP MP Jagadish Shettar said that the Karnataka Chief Minister should resign on “moral grounds” so that there can be “impartial investigation”.

“Now impartial investigation has to be started after filing the FIR against the CM. When his name is involved, his wife’s name is there, I insist the CM to resign immediately on moral grounds. He has to allow an impartial investigation of MUDA scam…It is a landmark decision and it has been pronounced by the High Court as per the legal purview,” Shettar said.

Reacting to the judgement, Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra said, “BJP has been relentlessly fighting against the corrupt Congress government. We have been fighting against the corrupt CM Siddaramaiah…When BJP took up the issue of MUDA scam…HC said that the petition challenged by the CM has been dismissed. A Child Follows What Parents Do And Not What They Preach

‘A Child Follows What Parents Do, Not What They Preach’

Akhilesh Srivastav, a father of an adolescent girl, emphasises on participative upbringing of children and not by controlling their lives. His views:

I strongly support the view expressed by tech icon Narayana Murthy when he said ‘If I am watching TV, I cannot ask my children to study’. How can you justify going to movies or watching television at home without hampering the attention of your children? I mean, it is okay if the child is still an infant when a movie or a TV programme hardly matters for him or her. But if the child is an adolescent, you need to restructure your daily routine to lead by example.

I am a proud father of an adolescent girl and we live in a joint family. I frequently take my daughter and other children of my extended family to a movie so that we inculcate a sense of belonging and spend time together. At home, I ensure that my pastimes or interests do not collide with my daughter’s study time. When there is TV time, all of us will watch television and when it is study time, we shall all be immersed in reading activity.

Mr Narayana Murthy hits the nail when he said, “it is for the parents to create an environment of discipline at home for our children to study”. Children do not follow what you preach; they follow the footsteps of their parents’ action; a disciplined life from the beginning will help them to be more responsible, independent and thoughtful. If we start making healthy changes in our children’s lives from the very beginning, they will adopt them early and carry it for their lifetime. The same thumb-rule applies in all walks of their lives.

ALSO READ: ‘Parenting is Not Framing Rules, But Leading By Example’

Besides, parenting also needs some flexibility. I do not approve of a strict copybook time table for children as we are not living in a military academy. After all, in the age of gadgets and technology, you cannot restrict the access of any kind of information from the children of this generation. In our growing up years, for example, we needed a dictionary or parental guidance to understand a new word or concept. Today, everything is accessible on your smartphone. We cannot take away this advantage from their lives. But we can teach them how to use these gadgets judiciously so that it does not become an addiction.

Technology such as a smartphone must be allowed to be used by children but needs to be monitored by parents – as it can be a double-edged sword with both negative and positive aspects. Since we are supposed to be their mentors (at least before they cross their teenage) it is our responsibility to regulate their exposure to the outer world – the internet and social media to be precise.

Quality time should be spent with growing up children. No doubt sometimes it is not feasible due to the work culture these days, but we as parents should manage first ourselves learn to maintain work-life balance and then expect study-life balance from our children. As Mr Murthy beautifully put: a parent must lead by example.

US To Propose Ban On Smart Vehicles With Chinese Russian Technology

US To Propose Ban On Smart Vehicles With Chinese, Russian Technology

The US Commerce Department on Monday will propose a ban on the sale or import of smart vehicles that use specific Chinese or Russian technology due to national security concerns, CNN reported, citing US officials.

While speaking to reporters in a conference call on Sunday, US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo said that a US government probe that started in February found various national security risks from embedded software and hardware from China and Russia in US vehicles, including the possibility of remote sabotage by hacking and the collection of personal data on drivers.

She stated, “In extreme situations, a foreign adversary could shut down or take control of all their vehicles operating in the United States, all at the same time, causing crashes (or) blocking roads.”

Speaking to CNN, a senior administration official said that the rule will not be applicable to the cars already on the road in the US that already have Chinese software installed.

According to the US Commerce Department , the software ban would come into effect for vehicles for “model year” 2027 and the hardware ban for “model year” 2030.

The proposed regulatory action is part of a much broader struggle between the US and China to secure the supply chains of the key computing technology of the future, from semiconductors to AI.

US officials are worried as China, especially, has invested in the connected car market and inroads made by Chinese manufacturers in Europe.

The US Commerce Department’s proposed rule will be applicable on “connected vehicles,” a broad term for virtually any modern car, bus or truck that uses network connections for roadside assistance, satellite communications or a range of other features.

It covers hardware and software that interact with key technology that allows a vehicle to communicate with the outside world, like Bluetooth, WiFi and cellular technology.

Speaking to reporters, a senior administration official said there will be a 30-day public comment period on the proposed rule and the Commerce Department aims to issue a final regulation before the end of the Biden administration.

The official said that the US administration will release an economic analysis of the expected costs for automakers and consumers to comply with the proposed rule on Monday.

Raimondo stressed that Monday’s announcement was not a protectionist move. She said, “This is not about trade or economic advantage.”

She said, “This is a strictly national security action.” She stated, “If (China) or Russia, for example, could collect data on where the driver lives or what school their kids go to, where (their) doctor is, that’s data that would leave that American vulnerable.”

US officials have been concerned that electric charging stations and other infrastructure outfitted with certain hardware or software could be exploited by hackers with ties to China, Russia or other foreign powers.

Speaking to reporters on the conference call, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that US has seen ample evidence of China’s pre-positioning malware on US’ critical infrastructure for the purpose of disruption and sabotage.

Sullivan said, “We’ve already seen ample evidence of the PRC pre-positioning malware on our critical infrastructure for the purpose of disruption and sabotage.

He further said, “If millions more smart cars with vulnerable, Chinese-made tech are on US roads, “the risk of disruption and sabotage increases dramatically.”

The Chinese government has rejected US allegations that its hackers have embedded in US infrastructure.

In a statement, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said, “China opposes the US’s broadening of the concept of national security and the discriminatory actions taken against Chinese companies and products.”

“We urge the US side to respect market principles and provide an open, fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises,” Lin added.

Earlier in June, the US Commerce Department imposed a ban on the sale and provision of certain products and services manufactured by Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab, whose anti-virus software is used by millions of people around the world. (ANI)

Shiv Sena BJP Amit Shah

Cong Fighting For Haryana Polls Tickets, Says Shah

Launching a scathing attack against the Congress party, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that Congress leaders are fighting amongst themselves over Haryana assembly election tickets. He further pointed out at Congress party infighting for the Chief Ministerial position in Haryana.

Addressing a public rally in Haryana’s Jagadhari, Shah said, “Hooda father and son are fighting amongst themselves. They are also fighting over ticket distribution. In BJP, Manohar Lal Khattar himself left his seat for young leader Nayab Singh Saini.”

Lashing out at the Congress party over one rank, one pension scheme, he said, “It is said that every tenth soldier comes from Haryana. I salute those mothers who send their sons to safeguard us. I want to say to Congress that Haryana has been demanding one rank, one pension for 40 years. Our jawans have also raised this demand but the Congress party never agreed upon it. BJP formed govt in 2014 and passed one rank, one pension scheme in 2015. Lakhs of rupees were transferred to to bank accounts of security personnel.”

The Union Home Minister further slammed the Congress party over the issue of terrorism and said, “They (Congress) are saying that the terrorists who are in jail, stone pelters who are in jail, they will be released. I say that as long the BJP is alive, we will not let terrorism flourish in Haryana, Punjab, or Kashmir. They have played appeasement politics for the vote bank.”

Taking a dig at the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his reservation remark made during the US visit, he said, “Congress calls themselves a Dalit friendly party but in the US, Rahul Gandhi spoke of getting away with reservation. We won’t let them touch the reservations.”

“On one side, Haryana has an honest BJP and on the other side, there is a corrupt Congress party. Congress has asked for money in exchange for jobs from poor youth and the BJP has provided appointment letters on doorstep,” Amit Shah appealed to the voters of the state to vote for the BJP.

Hailing Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini over the procurement of 24 crops at minimum support price (MSP) which is the highest in the entire country. “I want to congratulate Haryana CM Saini, Haryana is the only state that procures 24 crops on MSP.” (ANI)
