The Delhi government has announced a complete ban on production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers in the national capital to address air pollution during winter. The ban will remain in place till January 1, 2025.

“In a bid to control the rise in pollution levels in Delhi during the winter season, the Kejriwal government has imposed a complete ban on the manufacturing, storing, sale, and usage of firecrackers. Online sale/delivery of firecrackers to also remain prohibited. The prohibitions to remain in effect till 1st January 2025,” Delhi Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, said in a statement on Monday.

On Thursday, Gopal Rai said that the Environment Department will use drones to monitor air quality at pollution hotspots as part of a 21-point plan to curb air pollution during the winter session.

“In a first in Delhi, the Environment Department will use drones for real-time air quality monitoring at pollution hotspots as a part of the 21-point Winter Action Plan to curb air pollution in cold months, announced Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday,” Rai said in his statement.

Environment Minister Gopal Rai gave information about the decisions taken in the meeting through a press conference. He said that all the departments have been directed to submit detailed action plans and suggestions under the Winter Action Plan to the Environment Department by September 12.

Gopal Rai said that the government has intensified its preparations to deal with the problem of pollution in the winter season. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, our government has continuously taken strict steps to reduce air pollution in Delhi, resulting in a reduction of about 30 per cent in pollution in the last 9 years.

The Delhi Minister also wrote to Delhi state unit presidents of Congress and BJP on September 3, seeking positive suggestions for incorporation into the Winter Action Plan aimed at reducing pollution in Delhi. (ANI)

On Saturday, several photos and videos of Deepika went viral on social media as she made her way to the hospital.

Before welcoming their first child, Deepika and Ranveer visited Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi on Friday evening.

The couple was clicked by the shutterbugs as they entered the temple premises. They were all smiles as they arrived at the temple to see Lord Ganesha’s blessings.

Recently, the couple treated fans with their stunning maternity shoot. In the joint post shared on Deepika and Ranveer’s Instagram handles, the couple captioned it with ward off evil eye, heart and infinity emojis. In the pictures, the couple can be seen embracing baby bump.

Deepika and Ranveer announced their pregnancy in February this year.

Ranveer-Deepika tied the knot on November 14, 2018, at Italy’s Lake Como after dating for six long years and the duo never fail to shower love on each other on social media.

They first met on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic drama film ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela’ and later also starred in ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmaavat’.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika will be next seen in ‘Singham Again,’ set to hit the big screens on the festive occasion of Diwali 2024.

Helmed by Rohit Shetty, ‘Singham Again’ also stars her husband Ranveer Singh, actors Ajay Devgn Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles.

‘Singham Again’ is the third installment of the super-hit franchise.

On his 57th birthday on Monday, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar announced his new project ‘Bhooth Bangla’, a horror-comedy directed by Priyadarshan.

Sharing details about the film, Akshay took to Instagram and wrote, “Thank you for your love on my birthday, year after year! Celebrating this year with the first look of ‘Bhooth Bangla’! I’m beyond excited to join forces with Priyadarshan again after 14 years. This dream collaboration has been a long time coming… can’t wait to share this incredible journey with you all. The film marks the on-screen union of Akshay and Priyadarshan after 14 years. The two have earlier worked on projects such as ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Garam Masala’, ‘Bhagam Bhag’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’.

Akshay also unveiled the film’s motion poster in which he is seen drinking milk while a black cat sits on his shoulder.

This particular announcement left cinephiles excited.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with gusto.

He recently visited his sister Nikhat’s residence in Mumbai where he performed Lord Ganesha’s arti.

In the visuals obtained by Aamir’s team, the actor is seen dressed in traditional attire, ringing in the festivities with the family. He was joined by his son Azad.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Aamir Khan is currently gearing up for his upcoming film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’. In this film, Aamir Khan stars alongside Genelia Deshmukh and also takes on the role of producer under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions.

The film is expected to be released in the coming months.

As a producer, he is coming up with ‘Lahore 1947’, which stars Sunny Deol in the lead role. It is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol and Ali Fazal are also part of the film.

Sunny and Aamir have never worked together before. But the duo have had very iconic box-office clashes as competitors in the past, where both have eventually emerged victorious.

As the deadline for filing of nominations for the Haryana Assembly polls nears the prospective alliance between the Congress and the AAP is yet to reach a conclusion. On Monday AAP Haryana President Sushil Gupta said that the party would release the list of 90 candidates if no deal is struck by the end of the day. The statement was reiterated by Party RS MP Sanjay Singh who further said that the party has completed all the processes of selecting candidates for all legislative assembly seats in Haryana.

On the speculations of the AAP-Congress alliance, Sanjay Singh said, “Sandeep Pathak has already given a statement on this issue and Sushil Gupta has also clarified the stand that we are fully prepared and we have completed the process of selecting candidates for all seats. As soon as they receive permission from the party or national president Arvind Kejriwal, they will announce the list and move forward with the elections. AAP is a national party and we have a strong organisation in Haryana. Our leaders Sandeep Pathak and Sushil Gupta have already given statements, as soon as they will receive directions from the party and Kejriwal Ji, we will move forward with whatever they have said (Sandeep Pathak and Sushil Gupta).

Speaking to reporters, Singh said, “If you are talking about Sushil Gupta’s statements, then his statement is valid as well as right as the last date for nominations is September 12. The people who are working on the ground for the party will discuss it with the party’s president Arvind Kejriwal and take decisions to move forward unitedly, as we have less time.”

Haryana’s AAP Chief Sushil Gupta had sounded the alarm bells for the prospective electoral alliance with the Congress for the assembly election. Gupta said on Monday that if they don’t receive any news from the high command about the alliance formation during the day, then the party will release the list of candidates for all 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly.

“As AAP Haryana chief, I’m preparing for the 90 assembly seats. We haven’t received news about the alliance from the high command. If we don’t receive news today, we’ll release our list for all 90 seats by evening,” he said.

Gupta further emphasised the fact that the AAP is fully prepared to contest in all 90 seats in the polls and it is just a matter of time before they will announce the names of candidates who will contest in the election.

With just three days left for the deadline date for filing for nomination ahead of the assembly polls in Haryana, the Aam Aadmi Party, which earlier stated that they would contest in all 90 seats for this election, has been in frequent talks with the Congress party to form an alliance to contest in the assembly polls.

The voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will be held on October 5 and the last date for filing nominations is September 12. The counting of votes will be held on October 8. (ANI)

Demanding the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Gaurav Bhatia on Monday alleged that the Trinamool chief is standing with the rapists instead of standing with the family of the victim, adding that the head of the entire India’s democracy has bowed in shame.

After the Supreme Court directed the CBI to submit a fresh report by September 17, addressing a press conference in Delhi, Gaurav Bhatia said that the head of India’s democracy has bowed in shame after a two-hour hearing took place in the top court.

“Today, a two-hour hearing took place in the Supreme Court. The head of the entire India’s democracy has bowed in shame. If anyone is not feeling ashamed, it’s West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. If you had witnessed the hearing, you would have seen that on one side were the protectors of the Constitution–the Supreme Court, BJP, and the people of India and West Bengal–and on the other side were the violators of the Constitution. She is not ashamed that she failed to stand with the family of the victim,” Gaurav Bhatia said.

“Questions that the SC has asked Mamata Banerjee, the CJI said there was at least a 14-hour delay to register the FIR. Does Mamata Banerjee still want to continue as West Bengal CM?… She should resign so that a fair investigation can be conducted. If during the investigation evidence shows that she was careless and also involved in tampering with the evidence, then her polygraph test should be conducted, and her arrest could be imperative to ensure that there is justice given to the family members of the victim and every citizen of the country,” he added.

The BJP leader further said that the police of West Bengal should be suspended as they can’t safeguard the people.

“Her call records and police commissioner’s call record, ex-principal, should be released to the public. When such an atrocity was happening at that time, were you planning something? Justice will be served. No matter how hard you try to remove the evidence or take action against the doctors, justice will be served. The parents of the victim themselves have said that they were pressurised by the police. The police themselves wrote the complaint; then you can imagine how much truth will be there. The Joint Platform for Doctors in West Bengal have also asked Abhishek Banerjee to resign because he is spreading lie. He is saying that the victim died because she was bleeding for 3 hours and no medical treatment was given,” he added.

Bhatia further said that the BJP is the party that wants justice for the family of the victim and that every girl is safe in Bengal.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court ordered the immediate removal of all photos of the victim from social media.

The apex court also reminded that no action should be taken against doctors once they return to work by tomorrow 5 PM. However, it noted that if they fail to do so, the court will not be able to restrain the state government, and further absence from work might lead to disciplinary action against them.

Senior Advocate Geeta Luthra, following the court’s statement, mentioned that doctors are facing threats. The Supreme Court also directed necessary conditions being created to safety and security of doctors in hospitals with availability of toilet facilities for both male and female among others.

The Court also raised multiple concerns regarding the post-mortem report in a case of alleged rape and murder. Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, representing the West Bengal government, pointed out several issues. One of the advocates present during the hearing questioned the improper handling of a vaginal swab, which should have been preserved at 4 degrees Celsius but was not.

The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud, asked SG Mehta whether the necessary documents were available when the body was sent for the post-mortem. Senior Advocate Sibal, unable to immediately produce the required documents, requested additional time to submit them. Mehta confirmed that the documents were not included in the files provided to them.

During the proceedings, CJI Chandrachud directed the CBI to submit an updated status report by next week. The court will review the matter on Tuesday, September 17.

The court also inquired about CCTV footage related to the incident. SG Mehta confirmed that four video clips, totalling 27 minutes, had been handed over to the CBI. The CBI is now sending the samples to AIIMS and other forensic labs for further examination.

The body of the trainee doctor was found in the seminar room of the R G Kar hospital on August 9. The incident sparked nationwide protests. A civic volunteer was arrested shortly after. The CBI also arrested Dr Sandip Ghosh, for alleged financial misconduct at the medical establishment. (ANI)

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Munna Sharma was shot dead by unidentified criminals while reportedly resisting a chain snatching attempt in Patna, police said on Monday.

Shama, who was the former BJP mandal president was rushed to hospital after sustaining injuries in the shooting incident but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

According to the Patna Police, the criminals shot Sharma on Monday morning near a restaurant in Patna City. They received information about the incident at around 6.15 am today.

Patna Police said that his family rushed him to the hospital where he died while under medical treatment.

As per the police official, CCTV footage from the vicinity of the shooting incident is being examined and investigation is underway to arrest the accused.

Chowk Police Station SHO Shashi Kumar Rana said, “We received information around 6.15 am that a man, Munna Sharma, was injured by criminals near a restaurant. He was rushed to a hospital by his family where he died while under medical treatment. CCTV footage around the spot of crime is being examined and other technical investigation is being undertaken. Further action is being taken.”

“The FSL team has collected evidence from the site of the incident. A special team of police is reviewing CCTV footage. We are trying to find the reason behind the incident. Dial 100 team is also involved in the probe. The family of Munna Sharma has said that the chain he was wearing is still around his neck. Identification of one suspect has been done,” DSP Patna City-2, Gaurav Sharma said. (ANI)

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi on Monday said that 27 individuals have been arrested for allegedly instigating the stone-pelting incident in the Sayedpura area of Surat.

He further said that CCTV footage from the area had been reviewed to identify and arrest the remaining suspects.

“As I promised, we have caught the stone-pelters before sunrise! 6:30 am #Surat Update Here are the details: 27 stone-pelters arrested, CCTV, video visuals, drone visuals, and other technical surveillance work is still ongoing. Strict action will be taken against all accused. Our teams have worked whole night and yet to identify the stone-pelters and bring them to justice. Jai Ganesh!!” Gujarat Home Minister posted on X.

Earlier today, Harsh Sanghvi visited the spot in the Sayedpura area of Surat where an incident of stone pelting on Ganesh Pandal took place.

“The investigation is underway. Police are deployed in all the areas of Surat. Those who will breach the peace in the state, action will be taken against them,” he said.

Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said that after stones were pelted at a Ganesh pandal, a clash broke out in the Sayedpura area of Surat.

“Some children pelted stones at a Ganesh pandal, after which a clash broke out. The police immediately took away those children from there…Police were immediately deployed in the area. Lathi charge was done in all the areas where it was needed and tear gas was used…All the accused who were involved in the peace disturbance are being arrested. There are around 1,000 police personnel deployed all around. And the public is also here,” the Surat Police Commissioner said.

Upon receiving an alert about the incident, heavy police force reached the spot to bring the situation under control. (ANI)
