Congress’ Pawan Khera Accuses Govt Of Protecting SEBI Chairman

Congress leader Pawan Khera on Tuesday hit out at the NDA government at the centre claiming that it was ‘protecting’ SEBI chairman Madhabi Puri Buch

Congress leader Pawan Khera, while addressing a press conference in the national capital, said, “We have another expose regarding SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch today. Rahul Gandhi, through his videos, is questioning what the compulsions of the government are that it is protecting the SEBI chief. Does she blackmail the government? It is not possible for any democratically elected government to continue protecting a tainted individual, especially when there is a smoking gun, evidence out there in the public domain.”

Earlier on Monday, the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi uploaded a video on his YouTube channel where party leader Pawan Khera can be seen explaining the allegations against the SEBI chairman.

Earlier on Thursday, October 24, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Madhabi Puri Buch, for skipping a meeting with the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Thursday, claiming that someone was behind the plan to protect her from being answerable to the PAC.

“Why is Madhabi Buch reluctant to answer questions before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament? Who is behind the plan to protect her from being answerable to the PAC?” Rahul Gandhi posted on X.

Parliament’s PAC on Thursday postponed its meeting after it witnessed a ruckus after SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch did not appear before the committee. SEBI chairperson Madhabi Buch was scheduled to appear before the PAC in the national capital on Thursday, as per sources.

KC Venugopal of the Congress, who heads the PAC, told reporters that Madhabi Buch informed him on Thursday morning that she is not in a position to travel to Delhi.

Earlier in September this year, in a joint statement, SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch termed the allegations labelled against them in the recent past as “false, incorrect, malicious and motivated.”

Madhabi and Dhaval Buch asserted that their income tax returns have been obtained by the accusers by illegally and by adopting fraudulent means. (ANI)

No Headway In Identification of source in hoax threats calls to Indian airlines

No Progress In Identifying Source of Hoax Threats To Indian Airlines

Efforts and analysis of security agencies to trace preparators of hoax call threats have fallen flat.

A senior official said that several teams with the help of cyber experts are still working in the matter, but they haven’t got any breakthrough into the case as all of their efforts have reached a dead end.

“It is confirmed that VPN has been used to send threats. We are following up with the social media platforms to get more details of the accounts that posted threats,” the official said.

During the initial investigation, it was found that the threats were emerging from European countries, but later, when they tried to trace IP address, it was found to be dead end. They could not trace them.

As part of intensified security protocols, the NIA has deployed a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) team at major airports.

“We have called a meeting of representatives of social media platforms to seek their cooperation in the case. As precautionary measures, security has been enhanced at all the sensitive airports due to the festival rush,” the official added.

Indian airlines have received over 400 bomb hoax threats in the last two weeks. Till date, only eight flights have been diverted due to the threats.

On October 26, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued an advisory highlighting the responsibility of intermediaries, including social media platforms, to curb the spread of hoax bomb threats by various airlines operating in India.

MeitY emphasised that social media intermediaries must comply with the IT Act, 2000, the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. These platforms are required to promptly remove unlawful content to maintain public order and security. Instances of malicious acts, such as hoax bomb threats targeting airlines, pose a potential threat to public order and state security. Such threats, while affecting a large number of citizens, also destabilise the country’s economic security. (ANI)

Modi Tears Into Opponents Of Ayushman Bharat Yojana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday apologized to all the elderly people above 70 years of age in Delhi and West Bengal, due to the state governments’ decision not to participate in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and said that the walls of the political interests have hindered its implementation in their states.

Addressing the inauguration of various health projects at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in the national capital on the occasion of 9th Ayurveda Day, PM Modi said that the national health scheme aims to provide comprehensive coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh for hospitalization.

“I apologize to all the elderly people above 70 years of age in Delhi and all the elderly people above 70 years of age in West Bengal that I will not be able to serve you. I apologize to them that I will know how you are, I will get the information but I will not be able to help you and the reason is that the government in Delhi and the government in West Bengal are not joining this Ayushman Yojana. Elderly in Delhi, Bengal won’t be able to benefit from Ayushman Bharat as their governments not implementing it for political reasons,” the PM said.

“The tendency to oppress the sick people of your own state for your political interests is against any humane attitude and hence I apologize to the elderly people of West Bengal, I apologize to the elderly people of Delhi, I can serve the people of the country, but the walls of the political profession are preventing me from serving the elderly people of Delhi, and West Bengal,” he said.

Deepotsav Has Added Yet Another Festival In Our Lives

‘Deepotsav Has Added Yet Another Festival In Our Lives’

Pradeep Gupta, a restaurant owner in Ayodhya, the Deepotsav has increased the number of business days in the yearly calendar of local business community. His views:

The 30-lakh odd population of the holy city of Ayodhya is thankful to the present state government for reviving Deepotsav, a forgotten tradition of Ayodhya. This will be the eight edition of the celebrations which has, besides benefitting the business community, added yet another festival to our calendar year.

Earlier, our business was somewhat constrained to festivals and traditions like Dushehra, Diwali, Kosi Praikramas but now people across the country have got two new reasons to celebrate Hinduism – one is January 22 (When the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lala was done in the Garbha Griha of the newly constructed Ram Temple this year) and the second Deepotsav that has been organized every year since 2017.

Talking about the Deepotsav which shall be held on October 30, the celebrations extend to four-five days. The number of people coming to attend this event is increasing every year and this year also, about two to three lakh people from Ayodhya and adjoining districts as well as other parts of the country are expected to visit the city. This means increased business opportunities.

I own an eatery which remains open for as long as 18 to 20 hours a day! So, from my personal example I can safely vouch that the local business units have immensely benefitted from the spurt in religious tourism. Be it sweets sellers, religious item sellers, flower sellers etc, everyone has joined the party.

ALSO READ: Deepotsav Is A Gimmick To Keep Ayodhya Issue Alive

Significantly, the event has also infused new life into the almost extinct art of pottery as the Kumhar community – there are about 50 families in Ayodhya from this sect – get busy during Deepotsav. Although it is impossible for these families to supply the immense demand (which is 25 lakhs diyas this year), the government tries to purchase all their produce and the rest is outsourced from the neighboring districts thus giving a new lease of life to the backward community.

Besides diyas, the cotton battis are also sourced from local manufacturers and many household units have also found sustainable income from this festival. The local youths now have more earning opportunities at hand and household incomes have got a boost.

Besides all this, the local civic authorities also keep sharing and educating the future plans for the development of our city and the business community. For example, the authorities are projecting a ratio of 1:10 of residents to tourists as the number of visitors has been increasing drastically after the inauguration of the newly constructed Ram Temple. In 2021, the number of tourists who visited Ayodhya was about 3.25 lakh and shot up to over 2 crores this year till date.

We are quite confident about the civic bodies achieving their targets and their efforts along with the intentions and commitment of the state and central government are definitely reaping results for everyone in Ayodhya.

M'rashtra Polls

M’rashtra Polls: Shinde To File Nomination From Kopri-Pachpakhadi Today

Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde will file his nomination today from the Kopri-Pachpakhadi Assembly constituency, for the Maharashtra assembly election.

Notably, Tuesday is the last date for filing nominations for the Maharashtra assembly elections.

Earlier today, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar filed his nomination papers from the Baramati assembly seat.

Notably, Ajit Pawar’s nephew and grandson of Sharad Pawar, Yugendra Pawar, is contesting from the same constituency as the NCP-SP candidate.

Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar said on Monday that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) would form the government in Maharashtra in the interest of the people.

“Our Alliance will work to resolve the issues. Issues like inflation, unemployment, various questions of farmers, women, adivasis, the poor,” he said.

He also criticised the Mahayuti ruling alliance for not resolving the issues of the people.

“We want to change the government in Maharashtra there are lot of issues of the people of Maharashtra are pending because that has not been resolved by the people who are in power currently. We will take all the issues in front of people of Maharashtra and prepare them for the change in Maharashtra”, he added.

Further criticising the Ladli Behna Yojna of the government, he said that people only remember this scheme because it was announced recently.

“Government only remembered Ladli Bahan and Bhai on the face of election all the facilities announced in last three four months…people will not accept this they teach them lesson in this election they did in loksabha,” he said.

Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition MVA — comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress — have no stone unturned to secure victory in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

The BJP is part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance alongside the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar-led NCP.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23.

In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42. (ANI)

Ajit Pawar

People Of Baramati Will Elect Me And I Have Faith In Them: Ajit Pawar

Ahead of filing nomination on Monday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP candidate from Baramati assembly seat Ajit Pawar held a roadshow and exuded confidence saying that the people of Baramati will give him a mandate this time as well.

“Everyone has the right to contest. Whenever any candidate is fielded against me I take them as a strong candidate and campaign accordingly. This time too the people of Baramati will elect me and I have faith in them,” said Ajit Pawar.

Notably, Ajit Pawar’s nephew and grandson of Sharad Pawar, Yugendra Pawar, is contesting from the same constituency as the NCP-SP candidate.

Baramati will see another Pawar versus Pawar contest after Supriya Sule, daughter of Sharad Pawar, defeated Sunetra Pawar, wife of Ajit Pawar, during the Lok Sabha polls earlier this year.

Ajit Pawar split the NCP in June 2023.

Speaking to ANI, when asked about contesting the election against his uncle, who has won this seat seven times, Yugendra Pawar said that he feels it is quite sad and quite unfortunate.

“I feel it is quite sad, quite unfortunate that this had to come in the family. Not in Vidhan Sabha but it started in Lok Sabha and we were always together and even the incumbent MLA was always under the guidance of the founder of the party and family patriarch Sharad Pawar Sahab. What happened all of India has seen. The party split and the symbol was given to them by the election commission,” he told ANI.

Yugendra Pawar added, “This was unfortunate but all of us in the family decided that we need to stay with Pawar Sahab because he is the founder of the NCP, he is the patriarch of the family and it is because of him that not only Baramati but everybody around also prospered.”Yugendra Pawar feels that the fight against his own uncle won’t be tough but won’t be easy either.

He said, “I don’t think it will be tough but I don’t even think that it will be easy either. But initially Pawar Sahab was supporting Ajit Pawar, we fondly call him Dada but people of Baramati in large numbers are behind Pawar Sahab and that is what they showed in Lok Sabha. They will show this in the upcoming assembly as well as other elections also.

(ANI)
