Maruti To Ramp Up Exports By Over Two-Fold By 2030-31

Maruti Suzuki India is aiming to export about 8 lakh vehicles annually by the fiscal year 2030-31, from its current exports of around 3 lakh units.

“Four years ago, we were exporting about one lakh cars per year, which has now risen to three lakh cars annually. By the end of this decade, we are targeting exports of 7.5 to 8 lakh vehicles per year, bringing us close to the one million mark,” Rahul Bharti, Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, told ANI.

Maruti Suzuki India, India’s leading passenger vehicle company in domestic market and exports has attained the milestone of 3 million cumulative exports. The three millionth landmark vehicle was part of a shipment of 1,053 units that sailed from Gujarat’s Pipavav port yesterday comprising models like Celerio, Fronx, Jimny, Baleno, Ciaz, Dzire and S-Presso.

“We did the first million in about 24 years, 8 months. We were able to do the second million in 8 years, 10 months and the third million just in 3 years and 9 months… We are increasing our exports at a very fast pace,” he said.

On achieving the milestone of 3 million vehicle exports, Rahul Bharti highlighted the company’s rapid growth in global markets. “Our exports are growing at an unprecedented pace. We export to about 100 countries of the world and customers from these countries are very happy choosing a Maruti car year after year. The numbers are increasing steeply.”

Maruti currently exports vehicles to approximately 100 countries worldwide.

Bharti attributed the growth to the trust of global customers in Maruti’s technology, quality, safety, emission standards, and performance.

“It is an assurance of the technology, the quality, the competitiveness of the safety, the emission, and the performance of our cars across the world..It is a strong assurance of our cars’ global competitiveness. This also boosts our confidence that Indian customers will continue choosing Maruti for years to come,” he added.

Discussing Maruti’s Electric Vehicle (EV) export plans, Bharti revealed that the company is gearing up to unveil its first electric cars at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo scheduled from January 17-22 in New Delhi.

“We have already showcased the production version of our Gujarat-made EV model in Milan, on an ice skating rink no less. This EV will be exported to several markets, including Europe, Japan, and other parts of Asia, alongside our home market in India,” Bharti asserted.

Maruti Suzuki India reported its highest-ever monthly sales for the month of October at 206,434 units. Total sales in the month include domestic sales of 163,130 units, sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of 10,136 units and the highest-ever monthly exports of 33,168 units.

Wins DUSU President Post

NSUI Ends 7-Year Drought, Wins DUSU President Post

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) made a strong comeback in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections on Monday, winning both the president and joint secretary positions after a seven-year gap.

NSUI’s Rounak Khatri defeated ABVP’s Rishabh Chaudhary by over 1,300 votes, securing 20,207 votes to Chaudhary’s 18,864. Celebrations erupted as the Congress-backed student wing marked its resurgence in DUSU, a body long dominated by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

While NSUI claimed the president and joint secretary posts, ABVP retained the vice president and secretary positions. ABVP’s Bhanu Pratap Singh secured the vice president post. In previous years, ABVP had dominated by winning three of the four central panel seats, with NSUI managing only the vice president’s position.

The election results, originally scheduled for September 28, were postponed due to concerns over defacement during the campaign.

This year’s election witnessed intense competition, with 21 candidates contesting for the four central panel posts. The election reflected a clash of ideologies, as the RSS-affiliated ABVP, Congress-backed NSUI, and the Left-aligned coalition of AISA and SFI vied for dominance. (ANI)

Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-IV to curb air pollution Delhi

SC Refuses To Relax GRAP-IV Measures

Refusing to relax the fourth stage of curbs put under Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-IV to curb air pollution in the national capital, the Supreme Court on Monday directed the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to consider relaxing norms for educational institutions, observing a large number of students cannot avail mid-day meals, online classes and can’t access air purifiers.

Last week, GRAP-IV was imposed in the national capital after the Air Quality Index (AQI) crossed the 450 mark, and the apex court had said that the curbs can’t be eased without its approval.

A bench of justices Abhay S Oka and AG Masih made it clear that it is leaving it to the Commission to decide to what extent the norms applicable in GRAP III and GRAP-IV as of today can be either relaxed or exceptions can be carved out. The top court asked the Commission to make a decision on this issue by today or latest by tomorrow morning so that it can be implemented from Wednesday.

The top court has listed the matter for further hearing on Thursday.

The top court directed the CAQM to relax the norms due to various reasons as it noted that some students were deprived of the facility of midday meals as the schools and Anganwadis are closed. The top court also left the Commission to decide on a continuation of the ban on conducting physical classes for 10th and 12th.

The top court made it clear that it will not relax the GRAP-IV unless it is satisfied that there is a consistent downward trend of AQI.

Meanwhile, it noted that due to the implementation of GRAP-IV measures, several sections of society may have been adversely affected and asked the Commission to issue directions to various authorities to take several measures to ensure that labour, daily workers etc., do not suffer.

“We therefore direct the Commission to consider taking various mitigating measures by issuing necessary directions in terms of section 12(1) of the CAQM Act,” the top court said.

It also directed the states to use the funds that have been collected as labour cess for the welfare of construction workers to provide them subsistence till the time construction activities are prohibited.

The top court was hearing matters relating to air pollution. During the hearing, the top court took notes of the report by the 13 court-appointed commissioners. It also remarked that even without reading the report by the court commissioners, it can say that there were no check posts. It sought to know how many check posts were checked.

One of the counsel replied that 83 check posts were there. Amicus Aparajita Singh informed SC that personnel in many posts were deployed after the court order but there is no clarity on directions among the personnel.

ASG Aishwarya Bhati informed the apex court that orders were given but she doesn’t have a copy right now. She further said they have details of the action taken. SC said that every entry point was covered under GRAP-4 and said it would ask the CAQM to issue show-cause notices to all the agencies and prosecute them for the lapse.

Supreme Court also sought to know steps taken by the Delhi Government to inform the people that trucks will not be allowed entry from the 13 entry points.

The top court appreciated the 13 court Commissioners for the work they have done. The top court further directed that their appointment as Commissioners will continue and they will have to continue their visits to various entry points and keep on submitting the reports to the court.(ANI)

Owaisi Condemns Deaths In Sambhal

Owaisi Condemns Deaths In Sambhal, Demands High Court Inquiry

Condemning the deaths in the violence that broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district during a court-ordered survey of a Mughal-era mosque, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday demanded a High Court inquiry alleging that “atrocities are hapening.”

Owaisi has further demanded suspension of the officers involved in the incident.

The AIMIM leader alleged that a court order was passed without listening to the people of the mosque and a second survey was conducted without any prior notice. Referring to some videos, he further alleged that those who came for survey, were raising provocative slogans.

Speaking to reporters here today, Owaisi said, “The mosque in Sambhal is not 50-100 years old, it is more than 250-300 years old and the court passed an ex parte order without listening to the people of the mosque which is wrong… When the second survey was done no information was given…The video of the survey which people are claiming is in the public domain shows provocative slogans were raised by the people who came for the survey. Violence took place, three Muslims were dead, we condemn it. This is not firing but murder… The officers involved should be suspended and a sitting high court should inquire that it is totally wrong, atrocities are happening there…”

Reacting to reports of FIR lodged agaisnt Sambhal MP, Owaisi said, “Register FIR on whomsoever you want. You are the jury, judge and everything.”

Earlier today, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that the survey at the mosque in Sambhal was being carried out under the orders of the court and that a fair investigation would be carried out into the violence which had claimed the lives of four people and left several others injured.

“A survey was being carried out there (Sambhal) on the orders of the court. Whatever incident happened is very sad. A fair investigation will be conducted into the incident,” Deputy CM Pathak told ANI.

Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has also targetted the ruling BJP over the Sambhal incident. He accused the ruling party of “insensitive actions” in response to the violence, alleging that their actions were deepening divisions and fostering discrimination between Hindu and Muslim communities.

Rahul Gandhi said that the BJP was “directly responsible” for the situation in Sambhal. The LoP offered his condolences to the bereaved family members of the deceased and injured and said that the “biased and hasty attitude” of the Uttar Pradesh government in Sambhal is “extremely unfortunate.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of police (DIG), Moradabad Range, Muniraj G on Monday confirmed that the death toll in the Sambhal violence has risen to four following the ruckus and stone pelting incident over an ASI team surveying the Shahi Jama Masjid of the district.

The district administration has announced that outsiders, social organizations, or public representatives will be barred from entering Sambhal without prior authorization from the authorities.

Security has been heightened near the Shahi Jama Masjid area to maintain law and order and prevent any escalation of violence following the initial incident of ruckus and violence.

These measures come to effect after a survey team that had arrived at the Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid to conduct a survey last morning amid heavy police deployment faced stone-pelting from some “anti-social elements.”

The said survey was part of a legal process following a petition filed by senior advocate Vishnu Shanker Jain, who claimed the mosque was originally a temple. A similar survey was previously conducted on November 19, with local police and members of the mosque’s management committee present to oversee the process. (ANI)

Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav

Akhilesh Calls Sambhal Stone Pelting A Riot Done By Govt

Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday alleged that the Sambhal stone pelting incident was a riot done by the government.

“Our MP Zia ur Rahman was not even in Sambhal during the incident and despite that an FIR was lodged against him. A police officer said that one should stop taking the help of the government, for whom was it meant? It is very unfortunate to know about the young people who have lost their lives in this incident.. From all the videos we have, we know it was a riot by the government. The government was looting votes, playing with the EVM machines.. they did riot in Sambhal because they did not want to get caught, he alleged.

Further Akhilesh Yadav said that the order was passed by the Court without even listening to the other party and questioned the state government.

“Right after the order was passed by the Court, the police and the administration reached Jama Masjid and all people cooperated with them… but The Court had passed the order on the same day without even listening to any other party.. … On November 23, the police administration said that a second survey would be conducted on the next morning. My question is who gave the order to the police administration to conduct the second survey. When people cooperated in the first survey and no one had an issue, but the Shahi Jama Masjid Committee called for a second survey when it was unnecessary? The people still kept patience but when people wanted to know the reason for the second survey, the Circle officer started abusing them and did a lathi charge. People also started protesting and pelted stones… in return the police fired bullets from official and private weapons.. and there is a video recording available of this,” the SP MP added.

Yadav demanded for the suspension of the police officers and administration responsible for spoliing the atmosphere in Sambhal.

“The people who filed the petition and the police officers and administration responsible for this should be suspended for spoiling the atmosphere of Sambhal.. a murder case should also be filed against them.. so that the people who were innocent can get justice and in the future no one can committee any such illegal incidents against the constitution,” Yadav said.

A stone pelting incident had occurred in Sambhal on Sunday when an ASI team had arrived at the Shahi Jama Masjid to conduct a fresh survey of the mosque, as per officials.

The survey was part of a legal process following a petition filed by senior advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, who claimed the mosque was originally a temple.

The survey of the mosque was being conducted peacefully in presence of police force, following court orders, when a mob gathered at the site and started pelting stones at the survey team and security personnel. (ANI)

Parliament Winter Session Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla

Constitution Should Be Kept Away From Politics: Om Birla

Ahead of the commencement of Parliament Winter Session, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on Monday morning said that the Constitution should be kept away from politics since it remains a social document and a source of social and economic change.

“The Constitution is our strength. It is our social document. It is because of this Constitution that we have brought about social, and economic changes and have given respect to the deprived, poor and backward people of the society. Today people in the world read the Constitution of India, understand its ideology, and how at that time we exercised the right to vote to all classes, all castes without any discrimination. Therefore, the basic spirit of our Constitution gives us the strength to unite everyone and work together. Isliye Constitution ko politics ke dayre main nahi lana chahiye (This is why Constitution should be kept away from politics),” Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla told ANI.

He said that no government of any party or ideology can temper the basic spirit (or structure) of the Constitution. There have been changes made in the Constitution from time to time but to cater to the rights of the people and their aspirations, Birla added.

The Lok Sabha speaker was reacting to the allegations made by the opposition that the government would change the Constitution. The Lok Sabha speaker further informed that the changes in the Constitution have been made for social transformation as well.

“Changes have been made in the Constitution from time to time for the aspirations and rights of the people and (to maintain) transparency. Changes have also been made for social transformation. But no political party, no government has tampered with the basic spirit of the Constitution. This is why the judiciary has the right to review so that the basic structure remains. So, here in our country, a government of any party ideology can never tamper with the basic spirit of the Constitution,” Speaker Birla said.

“The Prime Minister has always said that the deprived, poor, backward people of the society still need a reservation and therefore, the government works in the basic philosophy of the Constitution so that there can be prosperity in their lives, there can be social change in their lives,” he added.

The Lok Sabha speaker said that rules and tradition give direction and vision, focusing on the importance of maintaining decorum.

“Rules and traditions give a vision, give a direction. That is why Babasaheb had said at that time that it would depend on the people who have faith in the Constitution and those who implement it. Even today, whether it is the Constitution or Parliament, there should be high standards of decorum in our conduct. The higher the standards of conduct and thinking, the better we will be able to enhance the dignity of institutions… I believe that a lot depends on the conduct and behaviour of the members to maintain the dignity and high-level traditions of our House,” Birla remarked.

Speaking on Constitution Day scheduled to be celebrated on November 26, the Lok Sabha speaker said that it was a day to remember Babasaheb Ambedkar’s sacrifice and dedication. Birla informed that President Droupadi Murmu will recite the Preamble of the Constitution.

“We adopted our Constitution on 26 November and it is a day to remember the sacrifice and dedication of Babasaheb Ambedkar and the people who made our Constitution. In the 75-year journey of democracy, India’s democracy has also strengthened and that democracy has come to us from the basic spirit of the Constitution… Constitution Day is being celebrated on 26 November under the leadership of the President and the President will recite the Preamble of the Constitution so that we can express our gratitude towards the Constitution and the basic spirit and power of the Constitution can reach the people. I hope that this Constitution Day will become a mass movement and we will all express our gratitude towards the Constitution and the people who contributed to it. By carrying forward the basic duties and responsibilities of the Constitution, we will also realise our dream of ‘Viksit Bharat’,” Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla told. (ANI)
