Samay Takes Down All Content From The Show

Comedian Samay Raina has finally broken his silence on the ongoing controversy surrounding his YouTube show, ‘India’s Got Latent’.

The stand-up comedian took to his Instagram Stories to share a statement stating that he has removed all videos of the show from his channel and is “fully cooperating” with the authorities. He also added that his only intention was to entertain people.

“Everything that has been happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you,” Samay wrote on his Instagram Story.

The controversy erupted after a remark by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia in a recent episode of the show did not go down well with the audience. Following the backlash, a formal complaint was filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina, and the organizers of India’s Got Latent.

Meanwhile, Allahbadia had earlier issued a public apology, admitting that his comments were “inappropriate” and that he “had a lapse in judgment.”

“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry,” he said in a video posted on his X account.

He also acknowledged concerns about his influence on young audiences. “The podcast is watched by people of all ages. I don’t want to be the kind of person who takes that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. I need to use this platform better. That has been my learning from this whole experience,” he added. (ANI)

Shikhar Dhawan Hangs Up Boots

Intense Virat, Relaxed Dhoni: Shikhar Opens Up On Captain Icons Of India

Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan untangled the characteristics that define and differentiate the captaincy of India’s celebrated stars, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

In his record-shattering career, Dhawan was a part of the two captaincy eras that lifted the status of Indian cricket to a sheer force of dominance, redefining the standards of cricket.

Under Dhoni’s captaincy, ‘Gabbar’ debuted for India in the international circuit. While with his long-time friend Virat, Dhawan contributed to turning India into a modern-day giant across all formats.

For the former explosive southpaw, Dhoni’s calm demeanour and experience of making his team perform at optimum level stood out the most.

“All of them have their own characters and nature. Dhoni is very relaxed. He doesn’t talk much. He talks during the meeting. Even before the match, every captain talks. He is very relaxed. Even after the match, he doesn’t talk much. So Dhoni bhai’s presence was very strong, and of course, when I played under him, he had already become an experienced captain and had achieved so much already. He knew in and out about how a team is run and how a player is prepared,” Dhawan said in an exclusive interview with ANI.

Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India played 332 matches across all formats, winning 178, losing 120 and drawing 15. With an aura of calmness around him, Dhoni led India to glory in the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.

Under Dhoni’s leadership, India completed a historic whitewash over Australia in the 2012/13 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, featuring at the pinnacle of India’s distinguished achievements.

Dhawan, who played an invaluable role in India’s success in the famous whitewash and many other series, sees the calmness aspect of Dhoni’s captaincy as his strength.

“No, Dhoni bhai has never… I have never seen him shout. That was his strength. That’s what he brings to the table. He is absolutely amazing. But when you look at his eyes, you get scared,” he said.

After the end of Dhoni’s era, it was yet another transition phase for India, with Virat beginning his reign with relentless intensity and aggression.

In his seven years of rule, India faced a calamity considering a drought in ICC silverware. Yet India, under Virat’s rule, sent the fans into a frenzy with their brand of cricket.

With Ravi Shastri at the helm, the animated celebrations, the undying attitude and an unwavering dedication changed the cricket’s landscape, especially in the Tests.

The Indian team with a belligerent spirit, driven by fitness and proactively in pursuit of victory were the key aspects of his captaincy. There were many firsts in Virat’s captaincy, but India’s ascendancy in Test cricket was a sight to behold.

“Virat is intense. He has a different energy. Virat has changed the culture of fitness a lot because he is so fit, so that culture came that you have to be fit, our yo-yo test was done. So Virat moved that thing forward. At the same time. He kept on getting mature as a captain as well. When he captained in his first test match and later, with that experience, one keeps getting refined. So Virat’s intensity is quite strong,” he said.

Under Virat’s era of ruthless aggression, India climbed to the top of the ICC Test rankings and stayed there for 42 consecutive months from October 2016 to March 2020. Overall, Kohli led India in 213 matches, won 135, lost 60, and 11 ended in a draw. (ANI)

Netanyahu Vows ‘Intense Fighting’ If Hostages Not Returned

Following Hamas’ recent announcement that it will not release Israeli hostages citing a ‘violation’ of the ceasefire-hostage deal, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to pull out of the whole agreement if Hamas doesn’t release the hostages within Saturday’s deadline.

The Israeli PM also said that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) forces have been mobilised inside and around the Gaza Strip, and will resume intense military action to ‘finally defeat’ Hamas if ceasefire falls.

Sharing a post on X on Tuesday, the office of the Prime Minister of Israel said, “In light of Hamas’s announcement regarding its decision to violate the agreement and not release our hostages, last night I instructed the IDF to amass forces inside – and surrounding – the Gaza Strip. This action is being carried out at this hour and will be completed very soon.”

In another post, it said, “The unanimous decision that I passed in the Cabinet is as follows: If Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday noon, the ceasefire will end, and the IDF will resume intense fighting until the final defeat of Hamas.”

On Monday, United States President Donald Trump had said that Israel should end the ceasefire in Gaza and resume military action if all hostages are not released by the end of the week.

Speaking with the reporters, Trump said that Israel might choose to disregard his ultimatum and the Saturday noon deadline, adding that he might speak to PM Netanyahu.

“As far as I am concerned, if all of the hostages aren’t returned by Saturday at 12 o’clock, I think it’s an appropriate time. I would say, cancel it and all bets are off and let hell break out. I’d say they ought to be returned by 12 o’clock on Saturday,” Trump had said, Times of Israel reported

Trump’s comments came hours after Hamas announced that it intended to delay the next release of Israeli hostages planned for Saturday, “until further notice,” in response to what it claimed were Israeli violations of the ongoing hostage-ceasefire deal.

In a post on X published before Trump spoke, Abu Obeida, spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing Qassam Brigades, had said that the handover of the hostages “who were scheduled to be released next Saturday … will be postponed until further notice, and until the occupation commits to and compensates for the entitlements of the past weeks retroactively,” CNN reported.

He added, “We affirm our commitment to the terms of the agreement as long as the occupation commits to them.”

Later, Hamas issued a statement claiming that there was still a chance for the planned release to proceed as originally scheduled. The group described the delay as a “warning” to Israel, aimed at pressuring the country into “fully honouring” the terms of the ceasefire agreement. (ANI)

American Teacher Marc Fogel Returns Home After Over 3 Yrs In Russian Retention

Marc Fogel, an American teacher who was held in Russia for over three years, returned to the United States following an ‘exchange’ was negotiated between Moscow and Washington.

Fogel, draped in an American flag, arrived at the White House and was greeted by US President Donald Trump, who expressed that it was “an honour to have played a small role” in securing his freedom.

“Thank you all, and I love our country, and I’m so happy to be back here. And I wish I could articulate it better,” said Fogel, who appeared overwhelmed with emotion as he spoke in the Diplomatic Reception Room, as reported by CNN.

In a statement released on Tuesday, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz said that President Donald Trump, along with Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, had successfully negotiated an exchange for Marc Fogel.

The statement also highlighted President Trump’s ongoing efforts to secure the release of detained Americans globally.

The White House in a statement by NSA Mike Waltz said, “Today, President Donald J. Trump and his Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are able to announce that Mr. Witkoff is leaving Russian airspace with Marc Fogel, an American who was detained by Russia. President Trump, Steve Witkoff and the President’s advisors negotiated an exchange that serves as a show of good faith from the Russians and a sign we are moving in the right direction to end the brutal and terrible war in Ukraine.”

“Since President Trump’s swearing-in, he has successfully secured the release of Americans detained around the world, and President Trump will continue until all Americans being held are returned to the United States. By tonight, Marc Fogel will be on American soil and reunited with his family and loved ones thanks to President Trump’s leadership,” the statement added.

The White House on X also announced the return of Fogel.

In a post on X, it wrote, “Marc Fogel is back!!! Promises made, promises kept!!!”

Meanwhile, Trump also mentioned that another American is expected to be released soon but did not provide further details. Several Americans remain detained in Russia, including Stephen Hubbard and Ksenia Karelina, who have been officially recognized as wrongfully detained.

When asked whether the release would be the start of a peace deal, Trump said, “There’s good will in terms of the war” and praised Russian President Vladimir Putin for his role.

“You could be a big part of it, actually, because it could be a big, important part of getting the war over with Ukraine. And we appreciate President Putin for what he did. He was able to pull it off for you, right,” CNN reported. (ANI)

‘Ranveer Must Reflect On The Gravity of His Words, Reconsider His Path’

Smriti Jain, a Mumbai-based educator and a mother of two, shares her concerns at the obscene language used by standup comedians to garner instant popularity.

For the first time, I feel compelled to share my thoughts on something I recently encountered that left me deeply concerned. I am talking about the shocking remarks by popular YouTuber and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia and I feel it’s important to address them. I have occasionally watched his podcasts, especially when he has guests I admire.

I must admit here that whenever my children saw me watching his content, they would caution me, urging me not to subscribe or support his content. At that time, I dismissed their concerns, telling them not to judge people negatively. My views changed 1800 degree after hearing an unrefined question which he asked one of his show participants. As a parent I was both shocked and appalled. I could hardly believe my ears.

It is disheartening to witness how some people, driven by ego and arrogance, feel entitled to make such irresponsible, lewd statements. When someone’s sense of self-importance reaches the point of believing they own the world, it leads to behaviour that can be harmful to society. Ranveer is the same age as my son and I find it difficult to understand how he has achieved such success while holding such troubling views.

My hope is that this young man sincerely reflects on his actions, acknowledges his mistake, and reconsiders his path. It’s my belief that he should take time away from the public eye to truly understand the gravity of his words and actions. As a mother, I can only imagine the emotional toll this would have taken on his family, particularly his mother. I am genuinely curious about her perspective on this situation.

In my role as a school teacher, I often had the opportunity to engage with parents about their concerns. A question I heard repeatedly was, “Ma’am, how do I protect my child from the harmful effects of social media?” This concern is not isolated; it’s widespread. Given the influence social media personalities have over impressionable minds, I believe the government must take a firm stance on this issue.

ALSO READ: ‘Influencers Must Not Cross The Line, Audience Must Share The Blame’

Stronger regulations should be enforced to prevent the spread of harmful content, and we must demand greater accountability from social media influencers. Those who produce obscene material should face severe consequences, including fines and, in extreme cases, imprisonment.

Simply issuing an apology video, without real repercussions, is not enough. It would be injustice to the many families struggling to protect their children from this kind of content. The participants of shows like India’s Got Latent seem primarily concerned with their financial gain, but we must ask ourselves: What responsibility do we, as viewers, bear? What impact does our support have on our families, our nation, and ourselves?

To close, I’d like to leave you with a thought-provoking quote by Herman Melville: “We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibres connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibres, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.”

Deepika Shares Tips To Tackle Exam Stress At Pariksha Pe Charcha 2025

Actor Deepika Padukone appearing on the eighth edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’  programme on Wednesday shared with students gearing up to write examinations, her tips to tackle the exam stress and her success mantra in life.

The ‘Om Shanti Om’ actress has often shared in public her personal journey tackling anxiety and depression. In the year 2015, she founded the LiveLoveLaugh (LLL) foundation, which helps in creating awareness about mental health, reduces the stigma associated with mental illness and provides credible mental health resources for the needy.

During an interaction with students on PM Modi’s programme, Deepika shared tips for tackling the pressure of getting good marks in exams.

“Focus on the things you can control like, “Am I prepared or not”, that’s in my control. Feeling stressed the night before. Talk to your parents about it. Talk to your teachers. Identifying the cause of stress and expressing it to somebody you trust. That could be one of the ways of dealing with stress. If I’m meditating or doing exercise. That’s in my control.”

The actor also recalled her early school days and shared her affinity for extracurricular activities and sports events in school.

“I was a very naughty child. I was always interested in extra-curricular activities… I used to get very excited for fashion, dance and sports day… I am fortunate that my parents didn’t pressurise me for good marks… I want to tell the parents that they should recognise their child’s potential.” said Deepika.

The actor also shared her success mantra with students.

“One is clarity on what you want to do in life. Second, to have that conviction, that I am capable of doing this. I can do it. Will I fail along the way? Will I make mistakes? 100 per cent I will, it’s not going to be smooth sailing. And most importantly, have fun.” said Deepika.

Advocating mental health through the ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ platform, Deepika shared tips for a stress-free life.

“First of all adequate sleep. Sleep is a superpower which is available free of cost. I think sleep is a part of good mental health. Adequate sunlight, going out to get some fresh air. To get some daylight can help with your mental health. Always reach out for help.” said Deepika.

The ‘Om Shanti Om’ actor called stress a ‘natural’ part of life while addressing the exam pressure on students. She asked the students to practice patience regarding the exams and results.

Deepika said, “Being stressed is natural and it is a part of life. How we handle it, is the important thing… Having patience is important regarding the exams and the results… We can only do what is in our control, we can sleep well, hydrate well, exercise and meditate…”

The ‘Happy New Year’ actor also paid her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inviting her to the eighth edition of PPC.

The episode was broadcast across platforms including on the Prime Minister and PMO’s X profile and the PM’s YouTube Channel.

Since 2018, PM Modi has been hosting this annual event to interact with students, teachers, and parents, offering guidance on staying stress-free during exams. The event is organized by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education.

The first three editions of PPC were held in New Delhi in a town hall interactive format. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fourth edition was held online in the form of a program telecast on Doordarshan and all major TV channels.

The fifth, sixth and seventh editions of PPC were again held in town-hall format at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi. (ANI)

Musk Slams Judge’s Decision On Gender Ideology

After a federal judge ordered the restoration of web pages removed under President Trump’s executive order on gender ideology, US Senator from Utah, Mike Lee criticised the decision, calling it an “unprecedented assault on legitimate presidential authority” and labelling it “absurd” for judges to dictate which government web pages should exist.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk also responded to the senator’s post, calling the development “truly absurd.”

“These judges are waging an unprecedented assault on legitimate presidential authority, all the way down to dictating what webpages the government has. This is absurd,” Lee’s post read.

Responding to Lee’s post, Musk wrote, “Truly absurd. Judges as website editors!? We should at least ATTEMPT to fire this junky jurist. The notion of having a judge job for life, no matter how bad the judgments, is ridiculous! Enough is enough.”

This comes after US District Judge John Bates agreed to grant a temporary restraining order sought by the group, Doctors for America, which argued that its members used the websites when treating patients and conducting research. The nonprofit organization said that the removal of the webpages by the Department of Health and Human Services and its components violated federal law, CBS News reported.

Bates determined that the challengers were likely to prevail in their argument that the Department of Health and Human Services, CDC, and FDA violated the law by removing medical information from public websites.

On his first day in office, President Trump signed an executive order declaring that the United States recognises only two sexes, male and female, and directing federal agencies to remove any materials that promote or support gender ideology.

Days after the president issued his order, the Office of Personnel Management issued a memorandum ordering all agencies by 5 pm on January 31 to take down all websites, social media accounts and other public-facing media “that inculcate or promote gender ideology.”

In response to the memo, the CDC and FDA took offline numerous webpages and data sets, including recommendations on how physicians should treat sexually transmitted infections and adult immunization guidance, CBC News reported. (ANI)
