Mass Protests Erupt In Balochistan Over Enforced Disappearances

Protests were held in several cities of Balochistan, calling for a stop to suspected enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the kidnapping of Baloch women.

Baloch students in Islamabad and Uthal held quiet protests, while the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) organized rallies around the region, The Balochistan Post reported. In solidarity, businesses in Mastung, Kalat, and other cities remained closed during shutter-down strikes.

Protesters demanded that human rights groups and the UN step in and hold Pakistani officials responsible. Families of missing people flocked to Quetta for a protest march organized by the BYC. Carrying pictures of their loved ones, protesters chanted anti-enforced disappearance slogans and urged foreign organizations to pay attention.

BYC leaders accused the Pakistan government of repressing Baloch intellectuals, students, and youth by carrying out targeted assassinations and enforced disappearances, according to a report by The Balochistan Post. Families of the missing, activists, and locals gathered at Shaheed Fida Chowk in Turbat on Sunday for a three-day protest camp.

In reaction to recent targeted killings, including those of Zakriya Baloch in Gwadar, Naveed Baloch in Buleda, and Allah Dad Baloch in Turbat, the camp was established. Protesters called for justice and explained that these killings were part of a planned campaign, The Balochistan Post reported.

Demonstrators marched from the Mir Gul Khan Naseer Library to the Noshki Press Club as part of a protest rally in Noshki. Participants denounced the killing of Allah Dad Baloch in Turbat and the kidnapping of Asma Jattak Baloch in Khuzdar. Pakistani security forces were accused by activists of targeting Baloch students and intellectuals, claiming that these actions were part of a larger crackdown on political opposition.

In Kharan, BYC activists joined a sit-in where families are calling for Hafiz Hazrat Ali Baloch and Mubarak Baloch’s release. According to family members, security forces used enforced disappearances as a form of group discipline.

Shops and businesses in Mastung and Kalat stayed shuttered in protest on Sunday, resulting in a shutter-down strike. Protesters denounced enforced disappearances, the murder of Allah Dad Baloch, and the abduction of Asma Baloch as acts of state persecution, The Balochistan Post reported.

Additionally, demonstrators hoisted signs calling for the prompt release of all missing persons during demonstrations in Chagai, Dalbandin, Nokundi, and Yakmach. Demonstrations will continue throughout Balochistan until “each missing individual” is found, according to protest organizers.

Students protested against targeted killings and enforced disappearances at Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water, and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS) in Uthal, The Balochistan Post reported.

Protesters in Islamabad and Balochistan called on human rights groups and the UN to step in. They called for swift action to end extrajudicial executions, enforced disappearances, and what they called the Baloch people’s collective punishment. (ANI)

Ranji Trophy: Vidarbha, Gujarat, Mumbai Continue To Fight For Title

Vidarbha, Gujarat and defending champions Mumbai booked their seats in the semi-finals of the ongoing Ranji Trophy, with Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir fighting for the final spot.

In the first quarter-final, despite losing their footing in the first innings, Mumbai showed their champion mentality and effortlessly bounced back to confirm Haryana’s exit from the tournament.

Royston Dias bamboozled Haryana batters with his left-arm seam and lifted Mumbai to a 152-run victory at the historic Eden Gardens. The first clash of the final eight began with Mumbai crumbling in front of Haryana pacers on a hazy morning of Day 1.

For the first 30 overs, Mumbai were forced to sit and witness a horror show from the batters. The star-studded line-up, including Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Ajinkya Rahane, returned to the dressing room without making much of an impact.

Mumbai were reeling at 113/7 after group-stage hero Shardul Thakur’s dismissal. But once again, Mumbai’s lower order played the hero’s part and came to the rescue. Tanush Kotian and Shams Mulani patiently dealt with the pacers to force an unprecedented comeback.

The duo forged a 165-run stand for the eighth wicket to propel Mumbai to 315. Haryana responded with gallantry as skipper Ankit Kumar tonked 136 to keep his side in the game. However, a collapse in the middle order saw Haryana slip from 218/3 to 301, therefore conceding a 15-run lead.

In Mumbai’s second turn, Rahane played a captain’s knock and fired a blistering ton to keep Haryana at bay. Dube (48) and Suryakumar (70) chipped in with valuable contributions, setting a competitive 354-run target for Haryana to chase down.

In reply, Haryana stumbled to 60/5 early and needed a moment of magic to turn the tides in their favour. Opener Lakshay Dalal (64) while Sumit Kumar (62) frustrated Mumbai for some time but couldn’t resist the relentless pressure from the bowlers. s

In the second quarter-final, Tamil Nadu were always chasing the shadows after Vidarbha slammed 353 runs on the board, courtesy of Karun Nair’s century in the first innings.

In reply to Vidarbha’s 353, Pradosh Ranjan Paul and Sonu Yadav waged a lone war with their fifties as Tamil Nadu folded on 225, conceding a mammoth 128-run lead.

Vidarbha continued to maintain the pressure on Tamil Nadu as Yash Rathod raised his side to a state of dominance with a rollicking century in the second innings. Vidarbha ended their second turn with a 272-run total, setting a massive 401-run target for Tamil Nadu to chase for a spot in the final four.

The target proved to be too much for Tamil Nadu as they folded their innings on 202, suffering a 198-run defeat.

In the third match of the final eight, Urvil Patel and Gujarat pacers played a crucial hand in Saurashtra’s demolition en route to the final four of the Ranji Trophy.

After Saurashtra fell on 216, Urvil (140), who broke the record for the second-fastest T20 fifty in November, wreaked havoc with the bat with his maiden first-class century.

Along with Urvil, Jaymeet Manishbhai Patel (103) was also at the forefront of Gujarat’s spicy attack. Their classic strokeplay allowed Gujarat to put 511 on the board and take a hefty 295-run lead over Saurashtra.

Saurashtra were completely torn apart when they came out to bat for the second time in the game. Saurashtra batters resisted but eventually faced the impending defeat. Priyajeet Narendrasinh Jadeja starred for Gujarat with his four-wicket haul as Saurashtra conceded a defeat by an innings and 98 runs.

Saurashtra’s hero Sheldon Jackson played the final game of his professional career. He brought the curtain down on his decorated career with 7283 runs in 174 innings at an average of 45.80. Jackson struck 21 centuries and 39 half-centuries, with the Ranji Trophy win in 2019-20 being the high point of his career. (ANI)

Budget Session: MVA MPs Protest for Soybean Farmers

Several MPs of the Maha Vikas Aghadi on Tuesday held a protest in Parliament premises demanding to increase the limit for soyabean purchases.

Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule were among others who participated in the protest.

The MPs were heard sloganeering, “Soyabean khareed ki samay seema badhayi jaaye (Increase the time limit for soybean purchases)”.

Earlier in January this year, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed the marketing department to establish a permanent mechanism for soybean procurement, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free process. This move was aimed to support farmers and stabilize the soybean market.

Fadnavis said that an agro hub should be set up along the Samriddhi Highway under the Magnet Project. Giving instructions to complete the preparations for the soybean procurement in the state, which will start in November, Fadnavis said that the registration of farmers should also be completed in October.

“It should include all the facilities. A system should be set up so that soybean procurement can continue without any problems. A proposal should be submitted for an agro-logistics hub to be set up in all four divisions of the state. Onion chawl is a good option for onion storage,” said Fadnavis.

Soybean is a kharif crop and is typically harvested in October-November depending on its maturity.

Notably, Maharashtra is a key grower of soybeans. The government through its procurement agencies NAFED and NCCF purchase various agricultural commodities at an assured Minimum Support Price. (ANI)

Parliament Winter Session Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla

Om Birla Announces Extension Of Translation Services To 6 New languages in Parliament

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday announced extension of translation services to six new languages in the Parliament including Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Urdu and Sanskrit.

Addressing the House, Birla said that previously, the translation services were available in 10 languages including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu, in addition to Hindi and English.

“Now, we have also included six more languages–Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Urdu, and Sanskrit. Along with this, for the additional 16 languages, as human resources become available, we are making efforts to provide simultaneous translations in those as well,” he said.

“India’s parliamentary system is a democratic framework that provides translations in so many languages. When I discussed at the global level that we are making this effort in 22 languages in India, everyone on the international platforms praised it. Our effort is that, for the 22 languages that are officially recognized, we aim to include them in the future as well,” Om Birla said.

DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran objected to Lok Sabha Speaker’s announcement, asking why public money is being wasted on simultaneous translation in Sanskrit, which is spoken by only 70,000 people as per census.

“It is not communicable in any of states in India. Nobody is speaking that. 2011 population survey said that only 73,000 people are supposed to be speaking. Why should the taxpayer’s money be wasted because of your RSS ideologies?” Maran argued.

Reacting to this, the Speaker pulled him up and asked which country he was living in.

“This is India, whose “Mool Bhasha” has been Sanskrit. That’s why we mentioned 22 languages, not just Sanskrit. Why did you have an issue with Sanskrit?” Birla asked. (ANI)

Adani To Invest In US Projects

American Lawmakers Write To US Attorney Against Adani’s Indictment

Six US lawmakers have highlighted the Adani indictment in a letter written to the newly-appointed US Attorney General Pamela Bondi over “questionable decisions” made by the US Department of Justice (DoJ) under Joe Biden.

“Some of these decisions involved selectively pursuing and abandoning cases, often acting against America’s interests at home and abroad, jeopardizing relationships with close allies like India,” the lawmakers said.

In the letter, the US Congressmen mentioned about the case against India-based company Adani Group.

US lawmakers Lance Gooden, Pat Fallon, Mike Haridopolos, Brandon Gill, William R Timmmons and Brian Babin were who signed the letter written to Pamela Bondi.

“We would like to congratulate you on your recent Senate confirmation and appointment as Attorney General of the United States. In addition to the Senate’s backing and President Trump’s endorsement, we have full faith and confidence in your dedication and ability to serve our country. As you take the helm of the Department of Justice (DOJ) as our new Attorney General, we would like to bring your attention to some questionable decisions made by the DOJ under the Biden administration.”

According ot the letter, the case rests on the allegation that preparations were made by members of the company in India to bribe Indian officials. The US lawmakers said that the US Department of Justice instead of deferring the case to Indian authorities decided to push forward and indict the company’s executives.

In the letter, US lawmakers stated, “One such decision involves a questionable pursuit of a case against the Adani group, an Indian company whose executives are situated in India. This case rests on the allegation that preparations were made by members of this company in India to bribe Indian officials, also exclusively located in India. Instead of deferring the case to the appropriate Indian authorities, the Biden DOJ decided to push forward and indict the company’s executives without any real injury to US interests being present.”

The US lawmakers noted that there was no compelling reason to pursue a case in a manner that could complicate relations with an ally like India unless some external factors were at play.

The lawmakers in the letter said, “This misguided crusade came at the risk of harming our relationship with a strategic geopolitical partner like India immediately preceding President Trump’s return to the Oval Office.”

In the letter, the US lawmakers noted that India’s presence as the largest democracy in the world in a region present with politically divergent regimes averse to America’s beliefs and termed US’ relationship with India “rare and has no congruent.”

The lawmakers further said, “This relationship has flourished beyond politics, trade, and economics by evolving into a continuous socio-cultural exchange between the world’s two largest democracies. This historical partnership and continuous dialogue between friends, however, was put at risk due to some unwise decisions by the Biden administration.”

The US lawmakers said US and India share a sense of mutual respect and appreciation – a sentiment emulated by US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the letter, Trump has always recognized the true potential of a “strong and beneficial relationship between two economic and military superpowers like the US and India.”

The US lawmakers noted that Trump has diligently worked with the Modi government to forge a strong relationship between our two “great nations and PM Modi has reciprocated these efforts by proving India to be a valuable ally of America in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly against the growing threat from China.

In the letter, US lawmakers said, “Conversely, politically motivated decisions by agencies steered by left-wing megadonors could quickly erode years of hard work and diplomacy forged by our leaders. A fallout in relations not only harms our longstanding partnership with a key ally but greatly benefits adversaries like China in their goal to eliminate the American economy and achieve total global economic control through their Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). These concerns, along with requests to preserve all records from this case were communicated to your predecessor on January 7, 2025, and January 14, 2025, but his office was vacated before we could get a response.”

“This selective pursuit by the Biden DOJ, despite knowing the possible outcomes of such a reckless decision, requires a second look. Knowing the real considerations guiding this decision will also be a major step in uncovering whether the previous administration was compromised to outside entities over the past four years. We request you investigate the Biden DOJ’s conduct and would appreciate you sharing with us all records pertaining to this case, for a coordinated effort in uncovering the truth,” they added. (ANI)

Punjab’s Political Instability Could Have Severe National Impact: Tewari

Amid concerns raised by the opposition in Punjab that the Aam Aadmi Party government-led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann can fall anytime, Congress MP Manish Tewari said on Tuesday that any political instability in Punjab will have “very severe national repercussions.”

Speaking to ANI, Tewari said it’s a “tragedy” that Delhi has never understood Punjab and unfortunately will never understand Punjab because the state has a different ethos, a different culture, a different syncretism and it ticks to a different beat.

He also pointed that Punjab, being a border state, needs to be handled very carefuly and the Centre needs to have a ‘border policy’ for the border states.

“Any political instability in Punjab will have very severe national repercussions. Punjab is a border state. Our western neighbor is always hyperactive in trying to subvert and destroy the peace of Punjab. Therefore, there are certain border states which need to be handled very carefully. The situation in the northeast, Manipur is far from stabilizing and so the Government of India should really concentrate on having a border policy for the border states,” Tewari said.

“Delhi has never understood Punjab and unfortunately, Delhi will never understand Punjab because the state has a different ethos, a different culture, a different syncretism and it ticks to a different beat,” he added.

Meanwhile, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, State Ministers and MLAs after party’s defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections.

The BJP won the Delhi assembly election by a comfortable margin, winning 48 out of 70 assembly seats. AAP suffered a massive setback, securing only 22 seats–a huge drop from its previous tally of 62 in 2020 polls. With this historic mandate, BJP is returning to power in the national capital after 27 years.

Bharatiya Janata Party has already claimed that the Punjab government may fall soon.

BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Monday said that the countdown for the fall of the AAP government in Punjab has begun, and the party’s state unit is a “house of cards” that will collapse soon, as the much-touted Delhi model, which the Bhagwant Mann government wanted to implement in Punjab, has been outrightly rejected by Delhi.

Earlier on Monday, BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal slammed Arvind Kejriwal, stating that the people of Delhi have “punished” him for the state’s condition and warned that Punjab faces a similar situation.

Earlier on Sunday, Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa claimed that over 30 AAP legislators in Punjab are in touch with the Congress and ready to switch sides.

He also targeted the AAP over Delhi election results and said that the party tasted a humiliating defeat in Delhi.

The Congress leader also mentioned that the Punjab government led by CM Bhagwant Mann remained inefficient in taking action against its corrupt ministers and leaders.

“The Mann government will meet the same fate in 2027. Delhi’s results point towards the beginning of AAP’s end,” Partap Singh Bajwa said.

BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh also claimed that the AAP has finished.

“Just like BSP candidates lost their deposits in most of the seats they contested in the Delhi assembly elections, AAP candidates will also lose their deposits in the coming times and the contest will be only between BJP and Congress,” Singh said. (ANI)

Do You Hear? The End Is Near

The Ganga Action Plan was launched in 1985 raising hopes that the life of the holy river would be rid of all pollutants. Then again in 2014 the country had Namami Ganga Programme for effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of the national river. After all the money invested in achieving the objectives, we find to our disappointment that in the downstream in many parts of the river, which originates in Gangotri glacier in the Himalayas and after flowing through India and Bangladesh ends in the Bay of Bengal, remains almost as polluted as the Chao Phraya of Thailand.

For matter of record, not only many of the rivers and other water bodies in Asia and Africa have health damaging water, the Seine which flows through Paris raised global concern about the river’s water quality during last year’s summer Olympics. But is there any other major capital city in the world beside Delhi where the air quality is gravely poor and the river Yamuna, the source of drinking water remains dangerously polluted?

One doesn’t have to be empowered by knowledge of science to feel and see the deterioration of environment all round. The recent wildfires in California that once again destroyed properties worth in multiple of millions and caused untold miseries and the floods that periodically visit many parts of the world, including Bangladesh and India have got much to do with the irresponsible way that we continue to live. Natural disasters, the frequency and severity of which continue to rise, are a way our planet is taking its revenge.

In an insightful discussion, Amitav Ghosh, whose oeuvre includes Hungry Tide and Ibis trilogy (Sea of Poppies, River of Smoke and Flood of Fire) and to which now is added Wild Fictions, makes a rueful admission to Paromita Sen of The Telegraph: “Look the world we knew is clearly coming to an end… But that doesn’t mean the end of the world per se. We are actually faced with the task of creating a new kind of world that we can fruitfully inhabit… My generation, I’m sorry to say, we consumed the world. And the next generation is the one that will have to try and find ways to inhabit the new world in a productive way.” Human avarice and unbalanced development over decades have left deep scars on the environment.

Citizens everywhere are seeing planetary crisis manifesting itself in many ways such as wildfires, uneven monsoon leading to extreme wet or dry season, landslides, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and desertification. Last year was the warmest in a multi-dataset record of global temperature going back to 1850. The global average temperature of 15.10 degree centigrade was 0.12 degree centigrade higher than the previous highest annual value in 2023. The crisis remains unremitting. The January that we left behind was the warmest first month of the year ever recorded, according to the World Meteorological Organisation.

Ghosh is unequivocal that global temperature is rising “much faster, much faster” than expected. No question, we are paying the price this way because of our extravagance in using all kinds of resources and also the way most of these are produced violating environmental norms. Giving an example, Ghosh tells Sen: “One thing which is absolutely clear is that to get some kind of grip on the climate crisis, we have to reduce the use of fossil fuels. Instead, everywhere in the world, whether it be India or in the US, or in Norway, they are expanding fossil fuel explorations.” As this remains the case, the net result is higher and higher greenhouse gas emissions leading to degradation of environment.

Ironically, the discussion on damages being inflicted on the planet was held at a literary conclave hosted by the country’s largest fossil fuel group both in terms of output and market capitalisation. Which country does not know that burning of fossil fuels, be it coal or oil is bad for environment. The toxic gases such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide that are released in the air in the process of extracting energy from coal by burning cause respiratory and lung diseases. Last year, India’s production of coal was 1,039.59 million tonnes, up 7.28 per cent over 2023.

ALSO READ: COP 29 – God’s Gift Comes With A Price

But routinely, our coal production falls short of requirements of standalone thermal power plants and captive power units of steel, aluminium and other industries and the deficit is made good by imports. We will be seeing the opening of many new coal mines both by government and private sector to achieve the official 2030 production target of 1.5 billion tonnes. Such targets are generally marked by misses, though.

The other day, the West Bengal government kicked off the development of a very large coal project at Deucha Pachami at Birbhum district. Holding one of the largest deposits of thermal coal, the project will claim an investment of over Rs35,000 crore, assuming there will be no time and cost slippages. The government claims that all clearances linked to environment are in place and adequate care will be taken to protect water bodies and forests. Besides environment, the challenge remains to fairly compensate the people who are asked to give up land and offer jobs to the locals.

Belying what the government has claimed in the case of Deucha Pachami, the launch of the project was marked by protests by people in surrounding areas. The concern of environmentalists goes beyond mine openings and extraction of coal to greenhouse gas emissions on its burning. Whatever concern Ghosh may have about use of fossil fuel and oil products, for a country like India where capacity for electricity, steel and aluminium is set to grow at a rapid rate, their burning at an ever-increasing rate is unavoidable. Indian growth rate in steel capacity till 2030 will likely be the highest in the world. China, groaning under pollution caused by metals and mining industries, has ordained capacity replacement in steel and aluminium will be allowed. But capacity expansion is a no-go area.

Ghosh makes the confession on his own behalf and on behalf of his scientist friends that they know “very little about the workings of the planet,” for what impacts the scientists had “predicted for 20-30 years ahead are unfolding today.” Is there not a myth about science that it is the foundation for policymaking in the context of climate crisis? In policy formulation relating to environment so many factors come into play – lobbying and counter-lobbying – and then, as Ghosh says, “it has to be filtered through a political system and by the time the policy emerges, it is often completely confused.” We have seen how irresponsible mining – many will say slaughter mining – of iron ore in Goa and Karnataka in violation of environmental norms went on for years till the Supreme Court was constrained to keep the mines shut pending ore extraction was scientifically organized and lease renewals were done strictly according to rules. Bad mining and industrial practices cause a lot of harm to the environment.

For example, in the process of world steel industry annually making around 1.9 billion tonnes of metal it accounts for about 9 per cent global greenhouse gas emissions (GHGE). Steel has the dubious distinction of being the most carbon-emitting sector among heavy industries. Aluminium has a 2 per cent share of global GHGE. But the biggest culprit in doing damage to the environment remains the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat and transportation.

AICWA Calls For Ban On ‘India’s Got Latent’ over Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks on the show

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has strongly condemned YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks on the show ‘India’s Got Latent,’ hosted by comedian Samay Raina, and has demanded an “immediate ban” on the show along with legal action against those involved.

In a press release shared on Monday evening, AICWA stated that Allahbadia’s comments were offensive and went against “societal and family values.” The association also urged the Indian film industry to “boycott” and “cease any collaboration with individuals” involved in the show.

“The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) vehemently condemns the reprehensible and offensive remarks made on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent, hosted by Samay Raina. In a recent episode, Ranveer Allahbadia, who participated in the show, unleashed abhorrent and vile statements that are deeply disrespectful to our societal and family values. Such disgraceful content is utterly unacceptable and poses a significant threat to the moral fabric of our society,” AICWA wrote.

“Representing the entire Indian film industry, AICWA officially boycotts India’s Got Latent. We call upon all actors, filmmakers, directors, and technicians to immediately cease any collaboration with individuals involved in this show, including host Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia. Henceforth, these individuals will receive no support from the Indian film industry,” the statement further read.

AICWA also added a list of demands, which included a complete ban on ‘India’s Got Latent,’ strict legal action against Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina, FIRs against all responsible individuals, and stronger regulations for digital content to prevent similar incidents, among others.

The controversy began after Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps made a crass joke during an episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’. His comment quickly went viral, leading to widespread backlash from artists and social media users. During an appearance on the show, the podcaster asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents… or join in once and stop it forever?”

Allahbadia later apologized for his “inappropriate” remarks that were made in an “insensitive” manner during the YouTube episode of the show. He issued an apology in a video that he shared on his X account hours after facing backlash, saying that “comedy is not his forte” and that “it wasn’t cool.”

Admitting that his comments were “inappropriate,” the podcaster said, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry.”

“Obviously, this is not how I wish to use it. I am not going to give any context, justification, or reasoning behind what happened. I am just here for an apology. I personally had a lapse in judgment. It wasn’t cool on my part,” he added.

He also addressed concerns about his influence on younger audiences, saying, “The podcast is watched by people of all ages. I don’t want to be the kind of person who takes that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. I need to use this platform better. That has been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to get better,” he said.

Allahbadia added that he has asked India’s Got Latent to remove “insensitive sections” from the episode that featured him. “I have asked the makers of the video to remove the insensitive sections from the video. All I can say in the end is sorry, I hope you can forgive me as a human being,” he said.

A complaint was filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission in which the complainant alleged that the show used abusive language and made obscene remarks about women. The complaint states that the remarks were made to gain popularity and financial benefit through online broadcasts. (ANI)

Mamta Kulkarni Resigns From The Post Of Mahamandaleshwar

Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni has stepped down from her role as Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada after facing heavy backlash and internal disputes.

Her resignation follows questions about her spiritual standing and her past in the film industry.

The Kinnar Akhada had earlier expelled the ‘Karan Arjun’ actress and her mentor, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, citing tensions within the religious group.

Kulkarni announced her resignation in a video shared on her Instagram. “Main Mahamandaleshwar Yamai Mamta Nandagiri, main iss post se istifa de rahi hoon. Aaj Kinnar Akhade ya dono akhade ke beech jo mujhe leke problems ho rahi hain. Main ek Sadhvi thi 25 saal se aur main Sadhvi hi rahungi,” she said.

“Bollywood ko maine 25 saal pehle chhoda. Main apne aap gayab rahi. Warna makeup se, Bollywood se itna door kaun rehta hai?” she added.

The controversy over Mamta Kulkarni’s appointment as Mahamandaleshwar began when Acharya Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi publicly announced the decision during the Maha Kumbh.

Mamta Kulkarni, known for her roles in popular 1990s Bollywood films, had stepped away from the limelight in the early 2000s. However, she made a return to India and was granted the position of Mahamandaleshwar by Tripathi.

Transgender Kathavachak Jagatguru Himangi Sakhi Maa had earlier raised concerns over Kulkarni’s appointment, questioning her credibility and linking her past to criminal activities.

“Mamta Kulkarni has been made Mahamandaleshwar for publicity. Society knows her past very well. She was even jailed in the past in connection with drug cases. This needs investigation,” Himangi Sakhi said in a conversation with ANI.

However, Kulkarni claimed she has never been jailed. (ANI)
