Kedarnath Yatra Resumes As Administration Clears Debris Following Landslide

The Kedarnath Dham Yatra has resumed in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district after the administration cleared debris from multiple locations caused by a landslide on Sunday.

The Yatra was temporarily suspended following the landslide, which resulted in the death of one person and injuries to two others.

According to a statement from the Rudraprayag Police, the landslide was triggered by continuous heavy rainfall, which caused large amounts of debris and stones to fall onto the trekking route, blocking and damaging the walkway to Kedarnath Dham.

Officials further noted that a yellow alert has been issued for the region, predicting continuous rainfall throughout the week. As a precaution and in view of the safety of the devotees, the footpath to the Kedarnath Dham from Sonprayag has been suspended.

Rudraprayag Police have also urged all devotees en route to Kedarnath Dham to remain in nearby hotels and safe accommodations, and advised those planning the Char Dham Yatra to monitor weather forecasts and travel advisories closely.

“The footpath was blocked due to debris falling in the ravine near Jangalchatti. The footpath to Kedarnath Dham has been suspended from Sonprayag till further orders. According to the information received some time ago, the footpath to Kedarnath Dham has been partially blocked due to debris falling in the ravine due to continuous heavy rain near Jangalchatti. According to the information received so far, one person has died and 02 people have been injured due to debris falling in the ravine,” the statement from the Rudraprayag Police read.

“According to the weather forecast, a yellow alert for rain has been issued for the entire week. It is raining continuously. Due to the obstruction of the road in Jangalchatti and many places on the entire footpath, which are landslide-affected areas, as a precaution and in view of the safety of the devotees, the footpath to Kedarnath Dham has been suspended from Sonprayag till further orders. Only in the Jangalchatti area are passengers stranded in the landslide-affected area being sent down under police protection. The district police appeals to the pilgrims coming to Shri Kedarnath Dham to stay safe wherever they are and stay in hotels, etc., at nearby places,” it further added.

The Char Dham Yatra 2025 officially began on April 30 with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham on Akshaya Tritiya amid Vedic chants and rituals. The doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened on May 2, and those of Badrinath on May 4. (ANI)

Any Terrorist Attack In J-K Will Be Considered As Act Of War: Lt. Sinha

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday asserted that any terrorist attack in the state will now be treated as an act of war,” which is a tougher approach towards cross-border terrorism.

Manoj Sinha was speaking during the passing-out parade of the 17th Batch of Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) and the 26th Batch of Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) at the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) in Udhampur.

A total of 50 probationary DySPs and 1,112 probationary PSIs graduated, marking the first batch to complete training under India’s newly implemented criminal laws.

The oath-taking ceremony was witnessed by J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and Additional DGP (Director SKPA) Garib Dass. Addressing the new inductees, LG Sinha showed faith that they could serve the country with commitment.

“I am sure these courageous officers will maintain the honour of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and serve Maa Bharati with pride,” he stated.

Stressing their responsibility, he asked them to uphold law and order, safeguard people, and keep their guard up against danger. Tapping the spiritual teachings for inspiration, Sinha urged the officers to draw strength from faith in the face of adversity. “Our great saints referred to you as ‘Shoorveer’ (warriors)–you need to protect society from forces of evil,” he stated.

Sinha complimented the recruits on their strenuous training, which consisted of Army and other security forces’ training along with specialised modules on the fresh criminal laws.

The LG underlined the changing dynamics of threats, especially cybercrimes, hacking, online fraud, and dark web operations, which have revolutionised conventional crime trends. “The modus operandi of criminals has shifted with technology, and J&K Police need to change quickly,” he added.

In spite of these challenges, he praised the force for its constant battle against terrorism, recognising the highest sacrifices offered by personnel in the line of duty.

Reaffirming the zero-tolerance policy of the government, Sinha said that eradicating terrorism is the priority. Taking cue from recent operations – the April 22 Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor – he said that India has sent a strong message to Pakistan and its sponsored terrorists.”We have given them a lesson, he added.

LG asserted that any next terrorist strike in J&K would be considered an “act of war,” which would mean a bolder military and strategic intervention. This is what comes with India’s increasingly complex approach towards cross-border terrorism, and is a possible change in counter-terrorism policy.

The passing-out parade signifies an important milestone in making J&K’s police force stronger and better equipped with contemporary combat training, legal acumen, and counter-terror methodologies to meet conventional and new-age challenges. By getting this fresh batch of officers, the administration hopes to reinforce security and provide tranquillity to the region, despite the ongoing challenges. (ANI)

Delhi Police Detain 36 Illegal Bangladeshi Migrants; Banned IMO App

The Foreigners Cell of the North-West District Police apprehended 36 Bangladeshi nationals, including 17 minors, during a targeted raid in the Wazirpur JJ Colony area of Delhi on June 13, said an official.

The operation was based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of illegal immigrants in the locality.

According to the police, the crackdown was part of a broader initiative to identify and take legal action against unauthorised foreign nationals residing in the national capital. Acting on credible information, the Foreigners Cell conducted sustained surveillance, culminating in a comprehensive verification drive across 25 footpaths and 32 lanes within the jurisdiction of Bharat Nagar Police Station.

During the operation, a suspicious individual was apprehended and interrogated. Though he initially misled the officials, he later confessed to being a Bangladeshi national without valid documentation. Based on his revelations, police identified and detained 35 more individuals from the area.

The group, comprising 19 adults and 17 children, was all found to be living without valid travel documents, visas, or permits, in violation of the Foreigners Act, 1946, and other relevant immigration laws. Police said all individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Foreigners Cell for interrogation and formal documentation.

During the questioning, the detainees disclosed that they had previously worked in a brick kiln in Mewat, Haryana, but fled the area fearing arrest by local authorities. Since then, they had been moving frequently between footpaths and were attempting to find rented housing to integrate into the local population.

Authorities recovered seven smartphones equipped with the banned IMO application, often used for international communication, along with 13 Bangladeshi national identity cards. The seized material has been sent for forensic analysis, and further investigation is underway.

Police sources said efforts are ongoing to trace the network facilitating illegal immigration and sheltering of foreign nationals. Legal proceedings for deportation and additional action under relevant immigration and cybersecurity laws are being initiated. (ANI)

Israel conducted a “wide-scale” wave of strikes on Sunday targeting several weapons production sites in Iran, the Israeli military said.

The strikes destroyed infrastructure belonging to the Quds Force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the Iranian military in Tehran, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

“Numerous weapons production sites across Iran were targeted,” the IDF said.

These targets included a site for the production of navigation and missile systems, a site for producing fuels for various types of missiles, and a planetary mixer designed for the production of surface-to-surface missile engines.

The IDF also reported that the strikes hit a production site for components of aerial defense systems belonging to the IRGC.

Several world leaders called for diplomatic talks to de-escalate tensions between Israel and Iran on Sunday.

Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, reiterated Europe’s “commitment to peace, stability, and diplomatic efforts leading to de-escalation” after speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Von der Leyen also expressed concern of Iran’s developing nuclear program. “Europe has always been clear: Iran can never acquire a nuclear weapon. There is an urgent need for a negotiated solution,” she said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed US President Donald Trump’s call for Israel and Iran to make a deal, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency reported. He also addressed the “irreversible economic, civilian damage” for both sides and stressed a need for de-escalation, according to Anadolu.

The fourth phase of Iran’s operation against Israel has begun, semi-official Iranian media outlet Mehr News reported on Sunday.

The operation, dubbed Operation True Promise 3, included “hundreds of various ballistic missiles” targeting residential buildings and infrastructure in Israel, Mehr reported. The attacks are a “decisive response” to Israel’s initial strike on Iran, which killed several high-ranking military commanders, the news agency stated.

Israel’s air force has struck and dismantled military targets in Tehran, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday.

“The IAF struck and dismantled surface-to-surface missile production sites, detection radar sites, and surface-to-air missile launchers in Tehran, with the direction of the IDF Intelligence Directorate,” the IDF said in a statement.

Iran launched a new barrage at Israel on Sunday evening, with an explosion seen in the coastal city of Haifa. Israel said it began another series of strikes on military targets across Iran amid international pleas for diplomacy and de-escalation, according to CNN.

The hostilities have killed at least 224 people in Iran and 14 in Israel, according to local authorities in each country. As Tehran residents flee the capital, Iran’s Ministry of Health said at least 1,481 people had been injured since Israel launched the wave of attacks on Friday.

Meanwhile, Israel is conducting strikes on surface-to-surface missile sites in central Iran, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday night. (ANI)

Iran Wants To Kill US President Trump: Israeli PM Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday (local time) claimed that Iran’s Islamic regime had pinpointed US President Donald Trump as a threat to its nuclear program and actively worked to assassinate him.

“They want to kill him. He’s enemy number one,” he said, as quoted by Fox News.

“He’s a decisive leader. He never took the path that others took to try to bargain with them in a way that is weak, giving them basically a pathway to enrich uranium, which means a pathway to the bomb, padding it with billions and billions of dollars,” Netanyahu said.

“He took up this fake agreement and basically tore it up. He killed Qasem Soleimani. He made it very clear, including now, ‘You cannot have a nuclear weapon, which means you cannot enrich uranium.’ He’s been very forceful, so for them, he’s enemy number one,” Fox News quoted Netanyahu as saying.

Netanyahu told Fox News that he was also a target of the regime after a missile was fired into the bedroom window of his home. He went on to call himself Trump’s “junior partner” in threatening Iran’s ability to weaponise nuclear arms.

Netanyahu said his country was facing an “imminent threat” of nuclear destruction and was left with no choice but to act aggressively in the “12th hour.”

“We were facing an imminent threat, a dual existential threat,” he said.

“One, the threat of Iran rushing to weaponise their enriched uranium to make atomic bombs with a specific and declared intent to destroy us. Second, a rush to increase their ballistic missile arsenal to a capacity of 3,600 weapons a year…. Within three years, 10,000 ballistic missiles, each weighing a ton, coming in at Mach 6, right into our cities, as you saw today… and then in 26 years, 20,000 [missiles]. No country can sustain that, and certainly not a country the size of Israel, so we had to act.”

Netanyahu reiterated what his administration has always maintained- by doing so, Israel is not only protecting itself but also protecting the world.

Iran has since retaliated with a large-scale ballistic missile attack on Israeli cities, although many of the projectiles were thwarted.

Netanyahu told Fox News he believes Israel’s offensive measures have set back the Iranian nuclear program “quite a bit,” sharing his belief that negotiations with the terrorism-sponsoring regime were clearly “going nowhere.”

He also said his country is prepared to do whatever is necessary to eliminate the nuclear and ballistic missile threat Iran poses to the world.

Netanyahu described the operation, coined as Operation Rising Lion, as “one of the greatest military operations in history.” Addressing the Iranian people, he said they had been oppressed for 50 years by the same Islamic regime that has long threatened to destroy the State of Israel, as per Fox News.
