Paresh Reacts To Fans Request To Rethink His Decision Of Quitting Film

Bollywood veteran actor Paresh Rawal’s sudden departure from the upcoming film ‘Hear Phiri 3’ has left his fans shocked and disappointed, and they want him to rethink on his decision.

Many of his fans have taken to the social media handle and requested him to join the third instalment of the ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise.

Taking to X, one of the fan wrote, “Sir please think Once again to join HERA FERI movie You are the hero of this movie”, however, Rawal immediately corrected him and responded, “NO … There are Three Heroes in Hera Pheri”

Paresh Rawal’s sudden departure from the third instalment of the ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise shocked the film industry and fans. After reports of Akshay Kumar suing Paresh Rawal for the inappropriate departure,

Rawal shared an update on May 25, saying that his lawyer has sent an “appropriate response” regarding his rightful “termination and exit” from the film to the makers.Taking to his X handle, the actor wrote, “My lawyer, Ameet Naik, has sent an appropriate response regarding my rightful termination and exit. Once they read my response, all issues will be laid to rest.”

While speculation initially suggested creative differences as the reason behind his decision, Paresh Rawal addressed these rumours in a public statement.

Taking to this X handle, the ‘Hera Pheri’ actor wrote, “I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences,” he wrote on X, adding, “I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENTS WITH THE FILMMAKER. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan, the film’s director.”

The much-awaited Hera Pheri 3 is being directed by Priyadarshan, that originally starred Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles.

Rawal’s sudden exit from the popular franchise was also a big blow to actor Suniel Shetty, who played the calm and collected Shyam in the classic comedy.Suniel, while speaking to ANI, expressed his “shock” over Rawal’s exit.

He said he was left “completely heartbroken” after hearing the news.”I mean, it’s an absolute shock to me, and I’m here because I heard it yesterday, and then today, some more news came about. So, I need to call and find out, and I’m completely heartbroken because if there was one film that I was looking forward to, it was Hera Pheri, you know,” Shetty said.

Suniel also made it clear that he feels a third instalment cannot happen without ‘Babu Bhaiya.'”It cannot happen. 100 per cent cannot happen without Paresh Rawal. It can have a1 per cent chance without me and Akshay, but 100% can’t happen without Paresh ji. No, it doesn’t. Raju and Shyam, if they’re not hammered by Babu here, it doesn’t work,” he added.

Paresh Rawal played the role of Shyam in Hera Pheri, while Akshay Kumar donned Raju’s character, and Paresh Rawal played Baburao’s role in the movie. (ANI)

How Dare You?

You – have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, and yet I’m one of the lucky ones. People are suffering, people are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you?
Greta Thunberg, UN Climage Action Speech, September 23, 2019

The first sailing ship to Gaza recently, ‘Conscience’, was bombed by Israel. It could not thereby sail with food and aid. In 2010, Israeli commandos killed 10 people on a Turkish ship, the ‘Mavi Marmara’; it was leading a small flotilla towards Gaza.

So where are they, 12 of them, bravehearts, Greta and her comrades?

Madleen, the Freedom Flotila, has been kidnapped by the killing machine of Israel. A picture shows an armed soldier with bread and water, with a defiant Greta, half-smiling, facing him.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said via a spokesperson that footage of the October 7, 2023  Hamas attacks will be screened for the Madleen crew after they reach Ashdod Port.

“Antisemitic Greta and her Hamas-supporting friends should see exactly what the Hamas terrorist organisation — which they came to support and act on behalf of — truly is,” he said. “They should see the atrocities committed against women, the elderly, and children, and understand whom Israel is fighting to defend itself.”

Born in Stockholm, she was first sensitized about global warming when she was just about eight. Reports say that she had bouts of depression when she was 11. Her father, Svante Thunberg, an actor, said:  “She stopped talking… she stopped going to school.” (BBC, May 9, 2024).

She was soon after diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism. Her mother, Malena Ernman, an opera singer, said she became “much happier” once she decided to engage with the issue. She said that she became a kind of “superpower” once she was diagnosed with autism. Being ‘different’ became a ‘gift’.

In August 2018, when she was 15, Greta skipped school and began a solitary protest outside the Swedish Parliament.  She held a placard which said, ‘Skolstrejk för klimatet’ (School Strike for Climate).

Her solo protest sparked a spontaneous movement — a global campaign on climate change — ‘Fridays for Future’. And who were her first supporters?

Enlightened students, including from schools, from across the world. Many of them decided to skip school on Fridays, in solidarity with the campaign.

In April 2019, she told the European Parliament, “Our house is falling apart and our leaders need to start acting accordingly, because at the moment they are not.”

A few months later, she went on a two-week trip across the Atlantic Ocean, campaigning for her cause. Time magazine reported that she was given a warm welcome when she arrived in New York. There were high school students with hand-made signs. “The students broke into chants as the sailboat slowly pulled into the marina in Lower Manhattan: ‘Sea levels are rising and so are we!‘There is no Planet B!’”

“It is insane that a 16-year-old would have to cross the Atlantic Ocean to make a stand,” Greta said in a press conference.

At the UN Climate Action Meet, she said: “I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. Yet, you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you! You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words.”

“World leaders have held 26 COPs. They have had decades of blah, blah, blah — and where has that got us?” This was again Greta speaking in Glasgow, in a youth protest, in 2021.

Nominated every year for the Noble Peace Prize from 2019 to 2023, clearly, the  young had found an inspirational icon, an indefatigable, dogged and visionary role model.

Then she was 16. Now she is 22. Small, stoic, frail, gutsy, resilient, determined, with a ready smile. Her strength of character is transparent. She smiles easily, even as she risks her life. Her comrades in Madleen, from different countries, also smile easily. They are not afraid. No, not at all.

She stands on the edge of the deck, holding the sail, inhaling the sea wind. Her images, her quotes, her dogged resistance, her clarity of vision, her compassion for the people of Gaza, her anger and angst at the non-stop mass killings, and systematic starvation of the people, bombed and shot dead while standing in queue for food, her disgust at the world leaders, especially in the West, for being complicit in this genocide — Greta has spoken her heart out, and the world has listened — in rapt attention.

Madleen, sailing towards Gaza via the great ancient city of Alexandria, became a floating platform of resistance and hope. A symbol of defiance and justice.

Now, in a pre-recorded message, she has  said that they have been abducted by the notorious Israel Defence Forces (IDF). Reports indicate that before the ‘abduction’ a chemical substance was thrown on the ship which created itchiness in the eyes.

The Israeli foreign ministry has tried sarcasm: “The ‘selfie yacht’ of the ‘celebrities’ is safely making its way to the shores of Israel. The passengers are expected to return to their home countries. They were provided with sandwiches and water. The show is over.”

The show, indeed, is not over. It has just begun.

Rima Hassan, member of the European Parliament, on board Madleen, had a message, and it is all over social media: “If our boat is intercepted and stopped, I don’t want to hear excuses, everyone to the streets! We  will not turn back! We are continuing on our path.”

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese was on the phone with the crew during their detention. “Madleen must be released immediately,” she said in a post on X. “Breaking the siege is a legal duty for states, and a moral imperative for all of us… Every Mediterranean port should send boats with aid, solidarity, and humanity to Gaza. They shall sail together—united, they will be unstoppable.”

All over the world (barring India, of course) mass protests have erupted, including in Tel Aviv. Hundreds have marched in Tel Aviv, Al Jazeera reported, holding candles, with pictures of the dead children of Gaza.

Stockholm, London, Holland and elsewhere, people are on the streets. In thousands. In Geneva, they have made a huge water fountain with the colours of the Palestinian flag. Inside football stadiums, Palestinian flags are fluttering with chants of ‘Stop the starvation, stop the genocide’.

On campus after campus in the US, students are denouncing the Israeli regime at their graduation ceremonies. Those who are arrested, are refusing to succumb — many more are joining in protest, unafraid of the notorious ICE, the latest Repressive State Apparatus of Donald Trump.

Spain, Columbia, Ireland, Brazil, Chile, South Africa, nation after nation is asking for a total boycott of Israel (not India, surely). As many as 14 nations in the UN Security Council have sought a ceasefire, with a lone America vetoing it. France, Germany, UK — their governments there are under intense pressure.

Dock workers in the West have refused to load deadly weapons bound for Israel. Jews across the world, including Orthodox Jews in Israel, are standing up against the relentless killings. Hollywood actors have signed statements in support (Bollywood etc, well…).

Doctors in the US have protested inside the hospital, despite warnings by the police that they will be arrested. One female doctor shouted, “If you starve children, they just die.” Doctors are risking their lives and reaching Gaza, despite most hospitals having been bombed, especially targeting pregnant women, mothers, and just-born children.

Greta and her comrades have resurrected infinite optimism. And the will to fight back! Their message has reached the nooks and corners of the world. This grotesque dance of death and enforced starvation must end. Now!

Many more Madleens must now sail for the Mediterranean shores of Gaza. And many more Gretas will now be holding placards, in angst and anger, asking: How Dare You?

‘Karnataka Govt Is Looking For Scapegoats For Bengaluru Stampede’

Rajiv Sinha, a Bengaluru-based stock market analyst and cricket buff, says the chief minister and his must be held accountable for the Bengaluru tragedy. His views:

The tragedy after the IPL final, in which scores were seriously injured and around 11 people have died, including a little girl, after a huge crowd collected inside and outside the stadium, is really heartbreaking. It’s also astonishing – this sudden gathering of such a massive crowd.

In Bengaluru, in terms of high profile games, and even in its history of hosting cricket matches in a packed stadium, there is no precedent of such crowds gathering, and that too, even after the match had ended. Besides, the stadium has a capacity of around 30 to 35 lakh, and only a limited number of seats were available. More so, the police was deployed in adequate number and the state government was aware of the huge interest this match had generated in Bengaluru and elsewhere.

I presume the massive crowd and the mass frenzy occurred due to the fact that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have not been able to lift the IPL trophy for a long period of 17 years. Besides, with his huge fan-following, it also seemed like a happy send off to RCB mascot and former Indian cricket captain, Virat Kohli, although, he has only retired from Test cricket. Significantly, he has never ever moved to another team, and stayed loyal to RCB. Cricket fans here, perhaps, appreciated this fact and identified with him.

Meanwhile, the state government has suspended the police commissioner. There is no doubt that suspending the police commissioner for the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede is nothing but trying to find an easy scapegoat. It was too transparent that the Congress-led Karnataka government wanted to hog the limelight and partake in this glory, though they had no contribution in RCB’s victory.

Besides, reportedly, they had made an open invitation knowing very well that lakhs of fans would turn up. Clearly, they did not bother to make the necessary security arrangements, while the crowd swelled outside the stadium, and the tragedy followed, after the match ended in RCB’s victory.

Indeed, if there are two people who must be held accountable for this man-made tragedy, it’s the chief minister and deputy chief minister of Karnataka. And not the franchise or the cricketers.

SC Junks Plea To Protect K’taka Theatres Over ‘Thug Life’ Screening

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to urgently hear a plea seeking protection of cinema halls or theatres in Karnataka against alleged threats over the screening of the Tamil movie ‘Thug Life’ starring Kamal Haasan.

A bench of Justices PK Mishra and Manmohan rejected the plea and told the petitioner to approach the High Court.

The plea had been filed by the Theatre Association of Karnataka. The counsel appearing for the petitioner stated that a law-and-order situation is arising in the State, as cinema halls are receiving threats from certain fringe elements.

Further, the counsel stated that threats are being issued that the theatres will be set on fire. Hence, theatres in the State sought protection from the top court. However, the bench declined to entertain the plea and rejected it.

Kamal Haasan leads the film as Rangaraaya Sakthivel Naicker, alongside Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf, among others. Directed by Mani Ratnam, Thug Life was recently released on June 5.

The film is directed by Mani Ratnam, marking a highly anticipated reunion between the legendary director and Haasan after 38 years. (ANI)

Goa Health Minister Apologises To Doc’s Amid Protest At Goa Medical College

A massive protest broke out at Goa Medical College (GMC) on Monday as doctors, Heads of Departments, interns, and medical students united in anger against Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, demanding a public apology and an end to VIP culture in hospitals.

The protests came after an incident in which Health Minister Rane used harsh language against Dr Rudresh Kuttikar during a visit to GMC. The Health Minister was accused of humiliating and disrespecting a senior doctor, Dr Rudresh Kuttikar, during an inspection.

The protest saw widespread participation from medical professionals across departments.

While speaking to ANI, one of the doctors, Pratik Sawant, said, “The doctors of GMC strongly condemn the verbal abuse of our colleague that happened in the Emergency Medicine and Trauma Department’s casualty on Saturday.”

“I have worked for twenty-nine years in GMC. This unfortunate incident happened to one of my colleagues, and his specific demand is that the Health Minister should respect his time during his working hours and conduct a public apology,” another doctor, Nazrat, told ANI.

In response to the backlash, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane in a post on X, expressed regret over his behaviour.

“During the broadcast with Prudent Media last night, I openly extended my heartfelt apology to Dr. Rudresh Kuttikar for the harsh words spoken by me during my visit to GMC. In the heat of the moment, my emotions overtook my expression, and I deeply regret how I addressed the situation. It was never my intention to undermine or disrespect the dignity of any medical professional,” Rane wrote.

He further added, “Doctors hold a sacred and noble position in our society. They work tirelessly to heal, to comfort, and to save lives. I hold the highest respect for their contribution to our state. While I may have erred in my communication, my intent was always to ensure that no patient is denied timely care and that our public health system remains responsive and compassionate.”

Rane, in his statement, also addressed the ongoing disruption, saying, “I am equally concerned about the disruption in services at Goa Medical College, which is now impacting thousands of innocent patients. The public is bearing the brunt of this situation, and I urge all our doctors to reflect on the larger responsibility we share–the welfare of our people.”

He warned against politicising the incident, “This issue is now unfortunately being politicised, turning a professional matter into a political confrontation. That is not the path we should follow. Let us not allow the sanctity of GMC and its service to the people be diminished by external agendas.”

Rane concluded his appeal by urging medical professionals to return to duty. “I appeal to our doctors to return to duty with the same passion and commitment that defines their profession. Disservice to the people of Goa, in any form, cannot be justified,” he said. “Let us all rise above this moment, reaffirm our shared commitment to public health, and work together to ensure that no patient suffers due to misunderstandings or misplaced priorities. Goa looks up to its doctors with pride. Let us continue to live up to that trust.”

Despite the Health Minister’s apology, the protest continued at GMC, where doctors chanted slogans and asked the Health Minister to come and make a public apology. (ANI)

‘Karnataka Govt Considering Shifting Bengaluru Stadium After stampede’: CM Siddaramaiah

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said the government is seriously considering moving the city’s cricket stadium to a new location to prevent such incidents in the future.

The stampede, which occurred during celebrations outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Indian Premier League (IPL) victory celebrations, which claimed 11 lives.

Speaking to the media, Siddaramaiah expressed deep personal pain over the tragedy and confirmed that the government is contemplating long-term solutions and also said that the government can shift the stadium to a different place.

“The government will look into shifting the cricket stadium to another location,” he said.

“Such an unpleasant incident should not happen under any government. Personally, this incident has hurt me and the government,” he added.

“Five police officers have been suspended in this case. The intelligence chief and the chief minister’s political secretary have been replaced,” Siddaramaiah confirmed.

“The case has been taken seriously and appropriate action has been taken,” he noted.

Despite public outrage, the Chief Minister maintained that the government had not acted irresponsibly.

“The government has not done anything wrong. This incident is saddening, but no misstep was taken by the administration. Legal action has been taken against those found guilty, so there is no question of embarrassment for the government,” he asserted.

Siddaramaiah also addressed political criticism, particularly from opposition parties like the BJP and JDS, who have been demanding accountability.

“Did the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh resign when people died during the Kumbh Mela? Did the BJP and JDS demand his resignation then?” he questioned, suggesting a double standard in political reactions. (ANI)

World’s Largest Container Ship MSC IRINA Arrives At Vizhinjam International Seaport

The world’s largest container ship, MSC IRINA, on Monday arrived at the Vizhinjam International Seaport in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The berthing process for the vessel has begun at the port.

MSC IRINA is recognised as the world’s largest container vessel by TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) capacity.

Vizhinjam International Seaport, which is managed by the Adani Group, was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 2. The arrival of MSC IRINA marks a significant milestone for the newly opened port.

The MSC IRINA boasts an impressive capacity of 24,346 TEUs, making it a formidable player in global shipping. With a length of 399.9 metres and a width of 61.3 metres, the vessel is approximately four times longer than a standard FIFA-designated football field.

Explicitly designed to facilitate the transportation of large volumes of containers between Asia and Europe, the MSC IRINA is pivotal in enhancing trade routes and logistics efficiency.

This vessel will be visiting a South Asian port, highlighting Vizhinjam’s capabilities in handling Ultra-Large Container Vessels (ULCVs).

The port has recently welcomed other Icon-class vessels, including MSC Turkiye and MSC Michel Cappellini, further establishing its reputation as a key hub in maritime trade.

The MSC IRINA was launched in March 2023 and embarked on its maiden voyage in April of the same year.

It sails under the Liberian flag and is engineered to stack containers up to 26 tiers high, offering unparalleled capacity in container stacking.

Notably, the MSC IRINA surpasses its predecessor, OOCL Spain, by a margin of 150 TEUs. In alignment with contemporary environmental standards, the vessel is equipped with energy-saving features that contribute to reducing carbon emissions by up to 4 per cent, significantly lowering its carbon footprint while maintaining operational efficiency.

The docking of the MSC IRINA at Vizhinjam International Seaport not only highlights the port’s strategic importance in global shipping but also represents a leap forward in sustainable maritime practices, setting a benchmark for future developments in the industry. (ANI)

Indore Couple Case: Raja Raghuvanshi’s Wife Surrenders, 3 Others Arrested

Three assailants from Madhya Pradesh have been caught, and a woman has surrendered in connection with the killing of Raja Raghuvanshi, a tourist who went missing with his wife in Meghalaya last month.

This announcement was made by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. He further said that the police’s operation is still underway to catch one more assailant.

In a social media post on X, Chief Minister Sangma wrote, “Within 7 days, a breakthrough has been achieved by the #meghalayapolice in the Raja murder case … 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, a female has also surrendered and operation still on to catch 1 more assailant .. “

Meghalaya DGP told ANI that 3 men were arrested, while the woman who had surrendered was identified as Sonam, the wife of late Raja Raghuvanshi.

Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur police are yet to issue a formal statement, but sources say that the woman (Sonam) was found in a dishevelled state. The woman is being kept in the Sakhi One Stop Centre, a shelter for women who are victims of violence, in the city, and the MP Police have been informed. Further details are awaited.

In the wake of the incident, the couple’s family had demanded a CBI probe.

On Sunday, Meghalaya Minister Alexander Laloo Hek emphasised the state’s commitment to justice in the case of the Indore couple, Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam.

On Friday, the family of Raja Raghuvanshi, a newlywed from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore whose body was found in a gorge near Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting a CBI inquiry into the matter.

Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam, went missing during their honeymoon in the northeastern state. The couple was last seen on May 23.

Later, on June 2, Raja’s body was found in a gorge at Sohrarim near Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, while Sonam is still missing, and the search operation to trace her continues.

Speaking to ANI, Sonam Raghuvanshi’s mother, Sangeeta Raghuvanshi, said, “… We want the CBI inquiry to begin as soon as possible so that my daughter can come home as soon as possible… We want our daughter to be found as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, Raja Raghuvanshi’s brother, Vipul Raghuvanshi, said, “We have written a letter to the Prime Minister requesting a CBI inquiry and submitted it at the commissioner’s office. We want the PM and the Chief Minister to extend support to us, and the CBI investigation should be conducted into the matter. It could bring justice to Raja and make finding Sonam easier. The way the Meghalaya police are working on this case, they won’t bring justice to Raja.” (ANI)
