Alliance Air Flight On Guwahati-Kolkata Route Encounters Technical Snag Mid-Air

Alliance Air flight 9I756, operating on the Guwahati-Kolkata route, encountered a technical issue mid-air on Wednesday, resulting in the landing of the aircraft in Guwahati.

As a precautionary measure and in adherence to standard safety protocols, the aircraft safely landed at Guwahati Airport, an official statement issued by Alliance Air said.

Alliance Air remains committed to the highest standards of safety and ensures that all aircraft undergo regular and rigorous maintenance checks before every departure, they further added.

Briefing on the sequence of events, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) spokesperson stated that a “full emergency” was declared here on Wednesday afternoon, adding that there was no impact on airport operations.

“Following the diversion of a GAU-CCU flight due to a technical snag, a full emergency was declared at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati, at 13:42 hours on 20 August 2025. The airport authorities said that passengers were safely deboarded and assisted by terminal staff.

On August 6, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol informed the Rajya Sabha that there have been six engine shutdown incidents and three May Day calls reported from January to July 2025.

Notably, one of these May Day calls was from the ill-fated Ahmedabad-London Gatwick flight that crashed on June 12, resulting in 260 fatalities. The other two May Day calls were reported by Air India Express and IndiGo.

Answering a question raised by MP Rajeev Shukla on August 5 (Tuesday), the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, mentioned that from January to July 2025, there were six incidents of engine shutdown and three incidents of May Day calls.

The breakdown of these incidents is as follows: Indigo had two engine shutdown incidents and 1 May Day call, Spice Jet had two engine shutdown incidents, Air India had one engine shutdown incident and 1 May Day call (related to the recent AI-171 accident), Air India Express had 1 May Day call, and Alliance Air had one engine shutdown incident.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that it has a structured surveillance and audit framework in place to monitor and regulate airlines, including regular audits and inspections.

If any violations are found, DGCA takes enforcement action as per its policy, the Union minister said in his reply. (ANI)

Neeraj To Skip Brussels Diamond League

The current javelin throw world champion and Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra will skip the Brussels Diamond League, reported the Olympics.com on Wednesday.

The competition will take place in Belgium on Friday. With Neeraj having sealed his spot for the Zurich Diamond League final on August 27-28 with 15 points from his past two Diamond League appearances this season, Neeraj can take this time to freshen himself up for his world title defence.

The men’s javelin throw final, which will decide the 2025 Diamond League champion, will be held on August 28. Neeraj is a 2022 Diamond League champion and a runner-up in 2023 and 2024. He is yet to announce his participation for the final in Zurich, though.

Brussels meet would be the fourth and final Diamond League event scheduled for this year, with men’s javelin throw category in it. Neeraj has opted to skip this one, just like he opted out of the Silesia Diamond League earlier this month.

Neeraj finished runner-up in the 2024 Diamond League final with his best throw of 87.86 m, losing to Grenada’s Anderson Peters by barest of the margins of one centimetre.

The Indian superstar has enjoyed a spectacular start to the 2025 season.

Chopra took the top honours in the inaugural edition of the Neeraj Chopra Classic, a competition named after him at Sri Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium in Bengaluru last month. The reigning javelin throw champion stood triumphant with 86.18m.

Neeraj kickstarted with a win at the Potch Invitational in Potchefstroom, South Africa, in April and followed it up with a very special second-place finish at Doha Diamond League, where he crossed the 90-metre mark for the first time ever, with a throw of 90.23 m.

He also went on to secure a second spot in the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial in Poland later that month and resumed his winning ways with back-to-back titles at Paris Diamond League and Ostrava Golden Spike this month, with best efforts of 88.16 m and 85.29 m. Most recently came his NC Classic triumph in front of his home crowd.

Neeraj will defend his world title in the World Athletics Championships scheduled for Tokyo from September 13-21. During the previous edition, Neeraj had finished ahead of Nadeem to win the gold, becoming the first-ever Indian to land a gold at the marquee event. (ANI)

Is Second War Between Iran & Israel In The Works?

The situation is tense again after the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel in June. The US and Israel are threatening to attack Iran’s nuclear programme, while Tehran has announced to continue uranium enrichment.

Meanwhile, threats of war and counter-statements are coming from both sides, but a senior army officer close to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has claimed that the US is unable to attack Iran due to its economic and military limitations.

Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said in an interview with Lebanon’s Al-Mayadeen channel that, “If the US feels that it cannot defeat Iran through war and wants to negotiate for a real solution, then we will respond positively. But if the talks are an excuse to prepare for war, then it is useless for us.” Larijani’s statement on the one hand shows the possibility of a diplomatic solution, while on the other hand it also raises questions about America’s intentions.

On their part, France, the United Kingdom and Germany have warned Iran that if it does not resume nuclear talks and produce concrete results by the end of August, UN sanctions may be reimposed. After the military attacks launched by Israel in June and the US bombing of three Iranian nuclear installations on the ninth day, the Trump administration had claimed that Iran’s nuclear programme was over. However, Iran has repeatedly said that its nuclear programme is for civilian use only and it has no intention of making a bomb.

But in reality, at present, amid the stalling of nuclear talks and fears of military tensions, both sides are engaged in war preparations. Iran has insisted on strengthening its military preparations, while Israel and the US are constantly threatening military action.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei warned at a press conference in Tehran on Monday (August 18), that Israel’s expansionism, if left unchecked, could drag the Middles East region into “endless wars.

Baghaei sounded the alarm while slamming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent claims about realising the so-called “Greater Israel” vision, which Netanyahu described as including occupied Palestinian territories and parts of neighbouring Arab states.

This “Greater Israel” idea has laid bare Israel’s domineering and expansionist nature, Baghaei said. Baghaei said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) deputy director general’s visit to Iran earlier this month aimed to establish guidelines for Iran-IAEA interactions after Israeli and US attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities in June. He added that more talks between Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog are due to take place in the coming days.

Meanwhile, The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, the top most military body in Iran, controlling both the Iranian Army and the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) has sternly warned the United States and the Zionist regime against any renewed aggression against the Islamic Republic, stressing that such folly will be met with a crushing response much stronger than that of the 12-day imposed war in June.

The top Iranian military body released a statement on Saturday (August 16), as it commemorated the release anniversary of the prisoners of war from Iraq.

The statement was followed by a warning by top military adviser to Iran’s supreme leader on Sunday (August 17), that another war with Israel or the United States was likely, dismissing the current ceasefire as just another phase in the conflict.

“We are not in a ceasefire; we are in a stage of war. No protocol, regulation, or agreement has been written between us and the US or Israel,” said IRGC General Yahya Rahim Safavi. “I think another war may happen, and after that, there may be no more wars.”

Safavi’s comments are the latest in a series of combative remarks from military leaders on both sides, with Israel’s army chief vowing readiness for further strikes and Iran’s General Staff warning of “a far stronger response” to any future attacks by US or Israel.

As Tensions heat-up a middle eastern expert says that he believes that an all-out war could begin again by the end of August. There’s a catch, however — Israel won’t be able to sustain such a military venture without the US fully backing its efforts, according to Trita Parsi, the executive vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft.

While both Israel and Iran keep their weapons stores “under wraps,” Parsi said that Western intelligence assessments indicated that Iran “still has 1,600 missiles that can reach Israel.”

Israel, on the other hand, was already “running low on interceptors,” including Arrow 3 interceptors. “The exact levels are unknown, but much indicates that Israel could not have continued the war much longer (unless the US entered it fully),” Parsi told the Express US.

Nevertheless, Israel seems to be relying on US aid, he said. In an article for Foreign Policy, which was also sent to the Express US, Parsi wrote, “Israel is likely to launch another war with Iran before December — perhaps even as early as late August.”

Iran is already anticipating another Israeli attack against it, Parsi said, and is “preparing.” In the first 12-day war, he said the Middle Eastern country “played the long game, pacing its missile attacks as it anticipated a prolonged conflict.”

That means two things — the first is that Iran has enough missiles to fight a war of attrition, and the second is that it’s likely to change its strategy in the case of a second war.

“In the next round, however, Iran is likely to strike decisively from the outset, aiming to dispel any notion that it can be subdued under Israeli military dominance,” Parsi wrote.

“As a result, the coming war will likely be far bloodier than the first,” he added. And that poses a serious issue for the US, he said, should the country join the conflict.

The expert went on to say that Israel’s war back in June, was “never solely about Iran’s nuclear programme.” Instead, it was about “shifting the balance of power in the Middle East.”

“For more than two decades, Israel has pushed the United States to take military action against Iran to weaken it and restore a favourable regional balance — one that Israel cannot achieve on its own,” Parsi wrote.

“In this context, Israel’s strikes had three main objectives beyond weakening Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. It sought to draw the United States into direct military conflict with Iran, to decapitate the Iranian regime, and to turn the country into the next Syria or Lebanon — countries that Israel can bomb with impunity and without any US involvement,” he continued.

Only one of those goals was realised, however, Parsi said. The US was drawn into the conflict, but Iran’s regime was not incapacitated. And neither was its nuclear programme, he added.

Overall, the chances of another round of war between Iran and Israel seems rather slim, as Israel is currently focussed on getting Gaza free of Gazans, to annex more unauthorised territory, an action against which no strong international condemnation or counter has come so far. Meanwhile, US President Trump is preoccupied with his tariff wars and political and economic situation back home and seems least interested to start another war, which may ultimately prove to be his nemesis.

Lok Sabha Passes Bill To Outlaw Online Gambling-Betting

Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, aiming to promote e-sports and online social games, while outlawing online money gaming.

The Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha earlier today.

The Bill was brought in to encourage e-sports and online social games while prohibiting harmful online money gaming services, advertisements, and financial transactions related to them. The Bill seeks to completely ban on offering, operating, or facilitating online money games, irrespective of whether based on skill, chance, or both.

“When it comes to society, middle-class people, or a segment of industry. When it comes to society and the government revenue, our prime minister has always chosen the society. Never have we compromised on the interest of the society,” Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said, requesting the House, particularly the Opposition members, to unanimously pass the Bill in the Lok Sabha. Opposition members continued raising their slogans, as the Bill was passed by voice vote.

“Online gaming has three segments. First is e-sports which needs strategic thinking, team building, enhances cultural exchange…Second segment is online social games, be it Solitaire, Chess, Sudoku. They are educative and entertaining. They are widely played,” Vaishnaw further said.

“There is a third segment, online money game, which is a cause of concern in the society. There are people, there are families who got addicted to online money games. They lose their hard-earned money. Algorithms are sometimes such that it is different to know with whom you are playing. Algorithms are opaque.”

“Many families have been devastated, many died by suicide,” the minister said. Online money game is seriously affecting families, terror being financed, money being laundered.

There will be no punishment for those playing online money games; it is only the service providers, advertisers, promoters, and those who financially support such games will face the consequences, said sources.

“No punishment for those playing online games. No punishment to victims. Only punishment for service providers, advertisers, promoters and who support financially to such games,” a source said on Wednesday.

Through this legislation, the government aims to promote e-sports and give them legal recognition.

This bill will help in providing legal support to e-sports. Earlier, there was no legal backing for e-sports, sources said.

“We have interacted with the 3rd segment of the online gaming industry. We tried to impose GST also, but the challenge continued. We had no option but to choose society for the welfare of people,” a source said.

For the promotion of e-sports, which has been recognised as a legitimate form of competitive sport in India, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will establish a dedicated framework. Online social games will also be promoted by the government.

It is the online money game, according to sources, that is a big problem for society. Several reports of suicide, violent attacks and other challenges were reported, the sources added. “Fraud and cheating are happening through these games and several families are ruined.”

The government believes that the harms of addiction, financial losses, and even extreme consequences such as suicides associated with online money gaming can be prevented by prohibition of such activities.

There are reports of money laundering and terror financing, the sources added.

Failing to fulfil the law, once enacted, can attract imprisonment up to 3 years and/or fine up to Rs 1 crore for offering or facilitating online money gaming. For advertising money games, and imprisonment up to 2 years and/or fine up to Rs 50 lakh may be attracted. for financial transactions related to money games, imprisonment up to 3 years and/or fine up to Rs 1 crore is being provided.

Any repeat offences may attract enhanced penalties, including imprisonment of 3-5 years and fines up to Rs 2 crore. Offences under key sections to be cognizable and non-bailable.

The central government may authorise officers to investigate, search, and seize digital or physical property linked to offences, and officers would be empowered to enter, search, and arrest without warrant in certain cases of suspected offences. (ANI)

Pakistan: Heavy Rains Lash Karachi, Death Toll Rises To Eight

Rain resumed in parts of Karachi on Wednesday afternoon as roads inundated by Tuesday’s heavy downpour continued to challenge residents. The death toll from rain-related incidents since yesterday rose to eight, while Sindh and Balochistan prepared for further showers in the coming days, Dawn reported.

Tuesday’s rainfall severely strained Karachi’s infrastructure, causing stormwater drains and sewers to burst and disrupting industrial operations. Several areas faced prolonged power and internet outages, prompting the provincial administration to announce a public holiday in the city today.

Rainfall was reported shortly after 2:30pm in Saddar, Malir, Malir Cantonment, Scheme 33, Gulistan-i-Jauhar Block 2, and near I.I. Chundrigar Road, Kala Pull Road, and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical College (JPMC). The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued an alert at 3 pm, warning of thunderstorms and strong winds at most locations in Karachi and nearby areas over the next two to four hours, with heavy showers forecast at some points.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, in a post on X, urged citizens to remain indoors. “It is expected to rain again from 2pm onwards. I would request people to avoid movement and if it starts to rain, please stay put where you are whether it is your office or residence,” he said.

The Sindh government had directed all public and private educational institutions to remain closed today, following Wahab’s rain emergency declaration. However, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah rebutted a “fake” notification about school closures for Thursday and Friday, clarifying no such orders had been issued.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired a meeting on Karachi’s rain situation, stating on X: “More rain expected, municipal and emergency teams are on alert. Continuous efforts underway for drainage and rescue operations.” He added that 26 de-watering pumps were deployed citywide to “ease flooding.”

Floodwater remained accumulated on multiple roads, including near I.I. Chundrigar Road. While Karachi Traffic Police reported 10 bypasses and three main roads closed due to flooding, Wahab shared videos on social media showing routes clear for vehicles, including Sher Shah Suri Road and Submarine Underpass. He advised avoiding Shaheed-i-Millat Road, suggesting Stadium Road or Shahrah-i-Quaideen as alternatives.

Addressing a press conference, Wahab said: “Climate change is a reality. If you want to make someone a target of criticism and say whatever you want, you can. But, you can see how huge a challenge climate change is for any government, state, or administration around the world,” Dawn reported. He added that Pakistan faced “different challenges” compared to developed countries and highlighted that Karachi experienced two rain spells on Tuesday, with the second lasting from 1:15pm to 6pm, followed by intermittent showers until 8pm.

Wahab noted that Manghopir received 235mm of rain in 12 hours, while Karachi’s nullahs have a capacity of only 40mm, leading to spillover. He stressed that a nullah in the Nursery area was fully functional.

According to Dawn, Edhi Marine Service recovered the bodies of Abbas Mohsin, 50, from Gurumandir nullah, and Yasir, 19, in DHA Phase 5 after electrocution. Rescue 1122 reported several people rescued from Sukhan Nadi and 30 individuals evacuated from a call centre in PECHS Block 6. Among the six deaths reported on Tuesday were four members of a family in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, a child in Orangi Town, and a young man in DHA Phase 7.

K-Electric spokesperson Imran Rana said efforts were underway to restore power after rainwater receded, with supply reinstated across multiple areas including North Nazimabad, Malir Cantt, Orangi Town, DHA Phase 5, and Clifton, Dawn reported.

Tuesday’s rains also disrupted traffic and flight operations at Jinnah International Airport, with several flights delayed, cancelled, or diverted. The PMD forecast further torrential rains in Sindh, parts of Balochistan, and other regions, warning of potential urban flooding in low-lying areas including Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Tharparkar, and Hyderabad. Australia Hits Back At Netanyahu After He Calls PM Albanese Weak

Australia hit back at Israeli Prime Minister after he branded the country’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese “weak”, with Minister for Home Affairs Tony Burke accusing Benjamin Netanyahu of conflating strength with killing people, Al Jazeera reported.

In an interview with Australia’s national broadcaster on Wednesday, Burke said strength was not measured “by how many people you can blow up or how many children you can leave hungry,” Al Jazeera reported.

Burke’s comments came after Netanyahu on Tuesday launched a blistering attack on Australian Prime Minister on social media, claiming Albanese would be remembered by history as a “weak politician who betrayed Israel and abandoned Australia’s Jews,” Al Jazeera reported.

Speaking on the ABC’s Radio National Breakfast programme, Burke characterised Netanyahu’s broadside as part of Israel’s “lashing out” at countries that have moved to recognise a Palestinian state.

“Strength is much better measured by exactly what Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has done, which is when there’s a decision that we know Israel won’t like, he goes straight to Benjamin Netanyahu,” Burke said.

“He has the conversation, he says exactly what we’re intending to do, and has the chance for the objections to be made person to person. And then having heard them, makes public announcement and then does what needs to be done.”

Relations between Australia and Israel, traditionally close allies, have progressively soured in recent months amid tensions over the war in Gaza, Al Jazeera reported, with ties becoming especially acrimonious since Canberra’s announcement last week that it would recognise a Palestinian state.

On Monday, Australia announced that it had cancelled a visa for Simcha Rothman, a lawmaker with Israel’s far-right Mafdal-Religious Zionism party and a member of Netanyahu’s governing coalition, amid concerns that a planned speaking tour in the country aimed to “spread division,” Al Jazeera reported.

Hours after that decision, Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Saar said he had revoked the visas of Australian diplomats to the Palestinian Authority.

Israel has come under growing international pressure, including from many of its traditional allies, over the level of human suffering being inflicted by its war in Gaza. (ANI)

Anurag Hits Out At Producer Of AI-Generated Film Chiranjeevi Hanuman

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap hit out at Vijay Subramaniam, producer of the upcoming AI-generated film ‘Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal.’

The film, announced on Tuesday by Abundantia Entertainment and Collective Media Network’s Historyverse, is being promoted as India’s first “Made-in-AI” theatrical release.

Taking to Instagram, Kashyap lashed out at Subramaniam and questioned his commitment to creators. Referring to Subramaniam as the head of a talent agency that represents writers, directors, and actors, Kashyap accused him of putting profits before creativity. He also added that agencies are “only interested in making money” and suggested that turning to AI proves that artists are being undervalued.

“Congratulations @vijaysubramaniam84 . Here is the man heading the @lifeatcollectiveartistsnetwork that represents artists, writer, directors , now producing a film made by AI . So much for looking after and representing the interests of creators,” read Kashyap’s post.

The filmmaker did not hold back and urged actors and artists to take a stand, adding that anyone with “a spine” should question or even leave the agency. He also stated that Subramaniam has proven he thinks artists are “no match for AI.” Kashyap went on to call the move a “future for the spineless and cowardly so-called artists” in Hindi cinema.

“Any actor or anyone who calls themselves artists and has a spine will be and should be either questioning him or leaving the agency since he has proved that he thinks you’re no match for his AI performance . This right here is the future for the spineless and cowardly so called artists in the Hindi Film industry. Well done Vijay Subramaniam . Shame is not enough on you. You should be in the gutter,” he added.

Take a look

Kashyap’s criticism comes soon after filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane also reacted to the film’s announcement. Sharing the poster on his Instagram story, Motwane wrote, “And so it begins… Who TF needs writers and directors when it’s ‘Made in AI’.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Abundantia Entertainment shared the official poster of the film. In their post, the makers described the project as a “first-of-its-kind, Made-in-AI, Made-in-India avatar.”

The film, produced by Abundantia Entertainment and Collective Media Network’s Historyverse, is expected to release on Hanuman Jayanti in 2026. (ANI)

Vantara, Gujarat Forest Department Join Hands To Wildlife Diversity In Barda Sanctuary

In a major step to strengthen wildlife diversity, the Gujarat Forest Department, in collaboration with Vantara, a leading wildlife rescue and conservation initiative founded by Anant Ambani, introduced 33 spotted deer (Axis axis), commonly known as chital, into a designated protected area.

The deer were translocated from Vantara’s ex-situ conservation facility in Jamnagar and transported in specially designed ambulances to Barda Wildlife Sanctuary. Following confirmation of ecological suitability and readiness of support systems, the deer were released under the supervision of the Forest Department. Vantara provided technical and logistical support to ensure compliance with established conservation protocols.

Director of the Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, Brij Kishor Gupta, described the release as a “pivotal step” for restoring biodiversity in the region. He added that spotted deer had historically lived in this landscape, and their reintroduction is both “ecologically significant” and part of a broader vision to revitalise habitats.

The Director further said, “This initiative marks a pivotal step in restoring and enriching the biodiversity of Barda Wildlife Sanctuary. Spotted deer have historically inhabited this landscape, and their scientifically guided reintroduction is not only ecologically significant but also emblematic of a broader vision for habitat revitalisation. The Gujarat Forest Department’s proactive approach, grounded in ecological assessments, species recovery planning, and inter-agency collaboration, demonstrates the government’s commitment to strengthening in-situ conservation frameworks across the state.”

“This effort also underscores the transformative potential of partnerships between public institutions and organisations like Vantara, where shared expertise and resources can yield measurable conservation outcomes and set new benchmarks for wildlife management in India,” he added.

Barda Wildlife Sanctuary, spanning 192.31 square kilometres, is a biologically rich haven nestled in the Porbandar district of Gujarat. Renowned for its diverse floral assemblage, the sanctuary supports a mosaic of habitats that sustain a wide array of wildlife.

According to state government data, Barda is home to apex and mesopredators such as leopards, hyenas, wolves, jackals, and wild boars, alongside robust herbivore populations like blue bulls (nilgai). The sanctuary also shelters several rare and endangered avian species, including the spotted eagle and crested hawk-eagle, making it a vital refuge for raptors and other forest-dependent birds.

Historically, Barda supported thriving populations of sambar, chital, and chinkara, which have declined over time due to habitat fragmentation and other ecological pressures. Recognising the sanctuary’s intact habitat structure and ecological carrying capacity, the Forest Department has initiated efforts to reintroduce these native ungulates, aiming to restore trophic balance and strengthen the sanctuary’s role as a functional conservation landscape. Shah Introduces J&K Reorganisation Amendment Bill In Lok Sabha

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday introduced the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, in the Lok Sabha.

The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill 2025 seeks to amend section 54 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, to provide a legal framework for the removal of the Chief Minister or a Minister in case of arrest or detention in custody on account of serious criminal charges.

The government also introduced ‘The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025; the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025’ which have now been referred to the Joint Committee of Parliament.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 5 pm.

The lower house witnessed ruckus as several Opposition MPs opposed the bills amid huge sloganeering, prompting the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to adjourn the House earlier.

Opposing the Bills, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi said, “I stand to oppose the introduction of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill 2025, and the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill 2025. This violates the principle of separation of powers and undermines the right of the people to elect a government. It gives executive agencies a free hand to act as judge and executioner based on flimsy allegations and suspicions.”

“This government is hell-bent on creating a Police State. This will be the final nail in the coffin of elected governments. The Indian Constitution is being amended to turn this country into a police state. The Chief Minister and the Ministers will not be accountable to the people,” Owaisi added.

Congress MP Manish Tewari also claimed that the bill is destructive to the basic structure of the Constitution. (ANI)

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Allegedly Attacked During Jan Sunvai

A mishap took place during the Jan Sunvaai at Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s residence in Civil Lines on Wednesday, Delhi BJP said.

Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva condemned the “attack” on Delhi CM Rekha Gupta as the police inquiry into the matter is underway, the statement further mentioned.

“A mishap happened during Jan Sunvai at CM Residence, Civil Lines. Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva strongly condemns the attack on CM Rekha Gupta during the weekly Jan Sunvai. Police inquiry to reveal details”, Delhi BJP said in a statement.

Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav also condemned the alleged attack on Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, terming the incident “unfortunate”.

He said that the Chief Minister leads the entire Delhi. Yadav also questioned the security of the Delhi CM, stating that if she is not safe in the state, then who else is?

“This is very unfortunate. CM leads the entire Delhi, and I think that the more such incidents are condemned, the less it is. But this incident also exposes women’s safety. If the CM of Delhi is not safe, how can a common man or common woman be safe?,” Devender Yadav told ANI.

On Tuesday, CM Gupta visited the residential area at Yamuna Bazaar, where water from the overflowing Yamuna River has entered and assured that there is no flood-like situation in Delhi and the water level will drop within one to two days.

After assessing the affected area, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, “The situation is under control. The water level was close to 206 m in the morning, but it has not crossed this mark yet. The water should recede in a day or two. We are providing food and water, as well as a medical facility here. There is no flood situation in Delhi.”

She said that the administration has made arrangements in school for those who want to go to a safer location, providing them with a place to stay and food, as well as all the necessary help in the affected area. (ANI)
