Yamuna Bazar Residents Shift To Safe Locations Due To Rise In Yamuna’s Water Level

Following incessant rain in Delhi, residents of many parts of the city have shifted to safer locations due to a rise in the water level of the Yamuna River.

As the city grapples with heavy rainfall, people in Yamuna Bazar continue to leave their areas, navigating through thigh-deep water.

In another part of the capital, shopkeepers in the Monastery Market of Civil Lines, anticipating the possibility of flooding, have decided to shift their goods as a precautionary measure.

Deepak Rastogi, a shopkeeper in the Monastery market of Civil Lines, says that all shops in low-lying areas have started shifting their goods.

“I have 3 shops here. Water will enter here 100 pc, the Administration has advised us to take care of ourselves, remain alert, and stay safe. All shops in low-lying areas are shifting their goods. We have been told that there will be water here for 2-3 days,” Rastogi tells ANI.

Delhi authorities had initiated a rescue operation to save farmers who were stranded in the fields at Burari on Tuesday. At 10:30 am, the water level of the Yamuna rose following heavy rainfall in Majnu Ka Tila.

Additionally, at Loha Pul, city authorities have ordered the halt of traffic and public from 5 pm, after the river crossed its danger mark of 205.33 metres due to heavy rainfall across the National Capital Region (NCR).

In the Delhi NCR region, specifically in Gurugram, after receiving over 100 mm of rainfall between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM yesterday, the weather department has issued an orange alert, citing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain.

Meanwhile, the city’s CM, Rekha Gupta, during her visit to Loha Pul, stated that the situation is under control, but the release from Hathnikund Barrage is expected to reach Delhi by evening.

“The situation is under control. The release from Hathnikund Barrage is expected to reach Delhi by the evening. In spite of that, the outfall of water from here is at the right point. All arrangements that had to be made for the residents here have been made by the Administration. Even better arrangements would be made. I met the people here and saw arrangements for their accommodation. There is water flow only in Yamuna plain. All arrangements are being made for the people. We will not let there be any difficulty. I have spoken with the adjoining states – J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Haryana. We will extend all possible help to them, whatever is required. Together, we will face this crisis,” says Rekha Gupta. (ANI)

20% Of World’s Chip Design Engineers In India, Key To Global Semiconductor Ecosystem: Report

Around 20 per cent of the world’s chip design engineers are based in India, making the country a crucial player in the global semiconductor design ecosystem, according to a report by Bastion Research.

The report highlighted that India has already established itself as an important part of the global semiconductor design chain.

It stated, “India is already an important piece in the global semiconductor design. You may be surprised to know that approx. 20 per cent of the world’s chip design engineers are based here.”

Global players such as Qualcomm, Intel, Nvidia, Broadcom, and MediaTek have large research and development and design centres spread across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Noida.

This strong presence of global technology leaders has enabled India to become one of the world’s leading hubs for semiconductor design.

Explaining the global division of work, the report noted that engineers in the United States focus on defining the high-level architecture of chips. They answer critical questions such as what kind of chip to build, who will use it, whether it is for a smartphone, a server, or a self-driving car, what features should be included, and what performance and power targets need to be achieved.

They also look into product strategy, including when to launch, whom to sell to, and how to stay ahead of the competition. Essentially, U.S. engineers sketch out the “what” and the “why” of chip development.

On the other hand, engineers in India step in once these high-level technical and strategic questions are decided. India’s engineering teams handle a large part of the actual building process.

Their responsibilities include translating the architecture into working logic, simulating and testing the chips, optimising them for speed and power, writing drivers and firmware to ensure compatibility with real devices, and supporting and fine-tuning electronic design automation (EDA) tools that the industry relies on.

While this may look like a division of labour, the report clarified that it is not a “boss versus worker” setup. Instead, the U.S. defines the architecture and product strategy, and India executes the implementation with scale and precision.

The report also pointed out India’s growing policy push to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem. In 2021, the government launched the Semicon India Programme, also known as the Indian Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 1.0, with incentives worth around Rs 76,000 crore to attract global manufacturers.

Though there has not been much progress yet in establishing semiconductor fabrication facilities in India, the country’s ambitions are taking shape.

With its large pool of engineers, strong design capabilities, and supportive government policies, India is steadily carving out a significant role in global semiconductor value. (ANI)

‘India Needs Us, Not Russia,’ Peter Navarro’s Fresh Attack On New Delhi After SCO Summit

The White House trade adviser Peter Navarro has again attacked India, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in China on Monday.

Speaking with reporters, Navarro lambasted PM Modi for what he termed was “getting in bed with the authoritarian,” describing the meeting as shameful.

He also pressed that India needs US, Europe and Ukraine and not Russia, urging New Delhi to stop purchasing discounted crude oil from Moscow.

“It was a shame to see Modi getting in bed as a leader of the biggest democracy in the world with the two biggest authoritarian dictators in the world-Putin and Xi Jinping. That doesn’t make any sense. I am not sure what he’s thinking. We hope he comes around to seeing that he needs to be with us, Europe and Ukraine not Russia,” Peter Navarro said.

This follows the White House Trade advisor’s earlier rant against India just shortly after PM Modi held a bilateral with Xi Jinping in Tianjin on the sidelines of the SCO.

“So, you know, look, Modi’s a great leader… But I don’t understand why he’s getting into bed with Putin and Xi Jinping…when he’s the leader of the biggest democracy in the world. I would just simply say to the Indian people. Please, understand what’s going on here. You’ve got Brahmins profiteering at the expense of the Indian people. We need that to stop,” Navarro had said.

Navarro’s remarks come amid the rising friction between Washington and New Delhi due to the 50 per cent tariffs imposed on Indian goods, which includes a 25 per cent penalty for buying Russian oil.

PM Modi, in his address at SCO, stressed the need to boost connectivity between the members to boost trade.

“India has always believed that strong connectivity not only boosts trade but also opens doors to growth and trust,” Pm Modi said.

Russian President Putin said that dialogue within the SCO helps lay the foundation for a new Eurasian security system, replacing outdated Eurocentric and Euro-Atlantic models.

“The SCO is steadily increasing its influence in addressing international issues. National currencies are being used more widely in mutual settlements for trade among SCO countries. The pace of development of cooperation within the SCO is impressive,” said Putin.

Additionally, Chinese President Xi Jinping called on the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation to uphold fairness and justice while addressing the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO. (ANI)

‘Punjab Not Your ATM’: Swati Maliwal Slams Kejriwal For ‘Misusing’ State Funds

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal launched a scathing attack on Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that the former Delhi Chief Minister is misusing Punjab’s funds for “personal leisure” while the people of the state are suffering from floods.

In a post on X, Swati Maliwal said, “Lakhs of rupees are being spent by the Punjab government for the salary, perks and Z+ security of your pet goon Bibhav Kumar. Imagine a person like him sitting as the Chief Advisor to the Punjab CM. Absolutely shameful!”

The remarks from the Rajya Sabha MP come at a time when Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately release Rs 60,000 crore in pending funds for the state, citing the grave flood situation that has devastated large parts of the state.

Maliwal further attacked and said, “Punjab is not your ATM, nor a refuge house for your rejected leaders. By the way, for the smallest of inaugurations, you and your deputees roam the field like kings of Punjab. But today, when such a big disaster has struck, where are you? Why are you not on the ground with the people?”

“Just stop using Punjab’s PRIVATE JET for your personal leisure. Crores of rupees from the state’s funds have already been wasted on your luxury. Stop misusing Punjab’s helicopter like a taxi to ferry yourself around,” the RS MP wrote.

Meanwhile, Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has urged the Union government to release Rs 60,000 crore in pending funds, citing the grave flood situation that has devastated large parts of the state.

“So far, there has been no response from them, but today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah called Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann. We request all BJP leaders of Punjab to ensure the immediate release of our Rs 60,000 crore so that we can help the people of Punjab more effectively,” Harpal Cheema said. (ANI)

Heavy Rain Floods Gurugram; Schools Shift Online

Gurugram received over 100 millimetres of rainfall till Monday evening, causing waterlogging in various parts of the city and heavy traffic congestion, with people being stuck in a jam at National Highway 48 for hours on end.

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued an advisory urging people to work from home, and schools have been instructed to conduct online classes as an orange alert has been issued with the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 2 (Tuesday).

“In view of the forecast, all corporate offices and private institutions in the district are advised to guide their employees to work from home; and all schools in the district are advised to conduct online classes on 02-09-2025,” the advisory read.

Traffic was moving at a crawling pace at Gurgaon’s Rajiv Chowk area, where vehicles, trucks, bikes, and cars alike navigated the waterlogged streets.

Showing their frustration over waterlogging, Congress workers protested earlier against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government for not managing the waterlogging following incessant rains in Gurugram.

“There is a government in the state under which Millennium City Centre has become ‘Sink City’. This road, which connects the main roads of Gurugram, must be passed via boats within a few minutes of rain,” said District Congress President (Rural) Vardhan Yadav during the protest.

The congress workers took out a boat to show the condition of the streets after the rain, and shouted slogans, while the streets were filled with water.

Earlier, Gurugram Police Commissioner Vikas Arora and Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar conducted a late-night inspection of NH-48 and Sohna Road to assess the traffic and waterlogging situation, according to officials.

Posting the advisory on X, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) also appealed to people to cooperate with officials and follow guidelines.

“The district administration appeals to the public to exercise caution in view of the weather conditions, avoid stepping out of their homes unnecessarily, and follow the administration’s guidelines,” the Gurugram DC wrote on X.

Notably, Delhi metro operations were also affected following incessant rainfall, including between Indraprastha Metro station to Barakhamba station in the blue line. (ANI)

Russia Studying Investment Needs For Su-57 Jet Production In India

Amid growing bonhomie with New Delhi, Russia is carrying out studies to determine the level of investments that it would require to manufacture its Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet in India.

India has stated that it has a requirement for at least two to three squadrons of fifth-generation fighter jets and the Russian Su-57 along with the American F-35 is a contender for the project.

Indian public sector unit Hindustan Aeronautics Limited already licenses manufactures the Russian origin Su-30 MKI fighter jets in its Nashik facility, which, if required, can be used for the Su-57 jets. The Russian agencies concerned are carrying out studies to determine the level of investments they will have to make to manufacture the aircraft in India, defence sources told ANI.

There are other facilities in India also where a number of other Russian origin equipment is manufactured and can be used for being used in the fifth-generation fighter aircraft production, if required to be manufactured in India and can also help in reducing costs, they said.

India and Russia have been coming closer at a time when the US administration has been constantly attacking the government of India and imposing tariffs on Indian businesses.

A number of defence projects have been discussed between the Indian and Russian leadership in the recent past where the Indian side has asked for high-end air defence systems like the S-500 and the S-400 along with other equipment.

The Russian side from its topmost level has been asking India to buy the Su-57 fighter jets. India was part of the Russian Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft project till 8-10 years ago but backed out due to some issues.

Sources said the possibility of reviving the old project cannot be ruled out at the moment in view of the global environment.

The US administration has also been trying to push the F-35 deal with India.

India is also working to produce its own fifth-generation fighter aircraft project for which clearance was given last year itself, and the first aircraft is likely to be ready for commissioning by the year 2035, and its first flight is likely by the year 2028. (ANI)

Rahul Pledges Fair Polls In Bihar As Voter Adhikar Yatra Ends

As the ‘Voter Adhikaar Yatra’, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday pledged that the opposition will not let votes be stolen in Bihar ahead of the forthcoming assembly polls, standing firm on his allegations of vote theft.

“We pledge – not a single vote will be stolen in Bihar. We will protect democracy and the Constitution with all our might,” Gandhi posted on X.

The Leader of Opposition (LoP) Lok Sabha extended his gratitude towards prominent opposition leaders from various parties, who are also part of the INDIA bloc, for making the ‘Voter Adhikaar Yatra’ “historic”.
