Largest Plant In Country For Buttermilk, Yoghurt, Sweets: Shah At ‘Sabar Dairy Plant’ Inauguration

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated the ‘Sabar Dairy Plant’ in Haryana’s Rohtak district and asserted that the plant has completed the construction of the “largest plant in the entire country” for buttermilk, yoghurt, and sweets.

On this occasion, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar, Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh, along with several other dignitaries were present.

According to the Ministry of Cooperation statement, Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fulfilled the decades-old demand of the farmers of the country to establish a separate Ministry of Cooperation, and the entire nation is grateful to him for this.

He said that in the past four years, the Ministry of Cooperation, along with all the state governments of the country, has worked to strengthen the foundation of cooperatives. Union Minister of Cooperation Minister expressed confidence that by 2029, every panchayat in the country will have a cooperative society.

Amit Shah said that today, through Sabar Dairy, the country’s largest plant for producing curd, buttermilk, and yogurt, built at a cost of about Rs 350 crore, has been completed for the welfare of milk producers. He said that from Haryana itself, the entire demand for dairy products in the Delhi-National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR) will be fulfilled, a statement said.

In a statement, Shah further stated that Sabar Dairy, which began in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district, has created vast opportunities for milk producers across 9 states. Zubeen Case: Festival Organiser Moves SC Seeking CBI Or NIA Probe

Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser of the Northeast India Festival, who was arrested in connection with the death case of singer Zubeen Garg, has approached the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the investigation from Assam Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) to a central agency such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Mahanta, who has been arrested by the Assam CID, has also sought the appointment of a retired Supreme Court judge to monitor and supervise the investigation pertaining to the death of the singer.

In the petition, Mahanta, who was arrested by the CID, has urged the apex court to hand over the probe from the Assam Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) to a central agency such as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The singer died in Singapore on September 19 in a scuba diving accident, a day before he was supposed to perform at the Northeast India Festival.

The petition further sought the transfer of the FIR registered in Assam to another state, citing concerns over impartiality.

On Thursday, the Assam CID added murder charges to the FIR. Special DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta is leading a 10-member SIT that is probing the case.

Besides Mahanta, SIT also arrested Zubeen’s manager Siddharth Sharma, bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and co-singer Amritprabha Mahanta.

Zubeen’s untimely death has sparked widespread attention in Assam and beyond, with fans and civil society groups demanding a thorough and unbiased probe.

The petition further sought a direction to restrain the police from detaining or adopting any coercive measures against Mahanta or his family members. However, he has already been arrested.

Mahanta alleged that there have been “serious threats to his life and personal liberty due to public and media outrage.”

He also sought adequate protection for himself and his family members in the wake of public and media outrage.

Mahanta claimed that he was being subjected to a “well-calculated witch-hunt,” alleging false narratives are being spread against him in the media.

He also urged the apex court to direct authorities to preserve all crucial evidence, including post-mortem reports and records from Singapore authorities.

“Singapore authorities said no one was at fault. These reports should be preserved. Video recordings of the accident show that Mahanta was not present at the scene. The videos should be taken on record by the probe team,” stated the plea.

He has firmly dismissed the allegations against him, while emphasising that they were “ludicrous”. (ANI)

TN Pharma Factory Probed After 9 Children Die From Cough Syrup

Multiple drug control officers from Delhi and Chennai investigated the manufacturing unit of a Pharmaceutical Factory in Tamil Nadu’s Sunguvarchatram, where atleast nine children died from consuming allegedly spurious cough syrup in Madhya Pradesh.

The probe was initiated after Madhya Pradesh State Food and Drug Controller Dinesh Kumar Maurya requested the Tamil Nadu State Drug Control Department to inspect and take action against the Srisan Pharmaceutical Factory located in Kancheepuram.

Meanwhile, Dr Pawan Nandurkar, Associate Professor and Head of Paediatrics in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district, said that the death toll of children has risen to nine. While doctors have said that the kidney problems and deaths of children could be linked to consuming the cough syrup Coldrif, the problems could be something else entirely, which would be known after the investigation.

Doctor Nandurkar said, “Recently, reports indicated that 7 of our children had died, but now it appears the number has increased to 9. The deaths and the kidney injury case are linked to the cough syrup called Coldrif, which everyone is blaming. However, investigations are still ongoing, and it’s possible that the kidney injury was caused by something else altogether.”

He further stated that the sample of the cough syrup is sent for testing.”The reports are still pending. Samples of the syrup suspected of causing the deaths have also been collected and sent for analysis. The complete extent of its responsibility will become clear once the report is received”.

Earlier in the day, samples of a cough syrup linked to the deaths of several children were collected from a pharmaceutical unit in Jabalpur on Friday and were sent for laboratory testing, an official said

According to the families of the affected children, initially, the children suffered from colds, coughs, and fevers. After that, their kidneys become affected, and their condition worsens.

The Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Dr Naresh Gunnade, said that authorities from the Centre and the State were called to probe the reason behind the kidney failures. They have collected the sample and sent it for examination, whose report is yet to arrive. (ANI)

Patiala Court Sends Chaitanyananda Saraswati To 14-day Judicial Custody

Patiala House Court on Friday remanded a 14-day judicial custody to Chaitanyananda Saraswati, also known as Parthasarathy, in the alleged molestation case.

The court has sought a response from Delhi Police on three applications moved on behalf of Chaitanyananda Saraswati seeking supply of seizure memo, signing of case diary and providing Sanyasi food, Sanyasi Garb, medicines and books, etc.

He was apprehended from a hotel in Agra in connection with an alleged sexual harassment case involving female students at the Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj.

On Wednesday, Delhi Police said that objectionable items and forged photographs were recovered during a fresh search at the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management Research (SRISIM) premises occupied by accused Chaitanyananda Saraswati alias Parthasarathy.

According to police, the search led to the recovery of one sex toy and five CDs purportedly containing pornographic content. The officials added that three forged photographs were also seized, which allegedly depicted the accused with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former US President Barack Obama, and another UK-based leader.

The police team also visited Bageshwar and Almora in Uttarakhand, as well as other locations where the accused stayed during his absconding period, as part of efforts to corroborate evidence in the case.

Earlier on Tuesday, Delhi Police had recovered two fake visiting cards from alleged sexual assaulter, Chaitanyananda Saraswati; one identifying him as a “Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations” and another describing him as a “member of the BRICS Joint Commission and a Special Envoy of India.”

DCP South West Amit Goel said that Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who has been accused of molesting 17 students at a Delhi institute, may have lured victims with promises of employment, exploiting his influence.

Speaking with ANI, DCP South West said that a detailed investigation is underway, and evidence is being gathered against him, divulging that three women, in particular, were close to Chaitanyananda from the beginning, and he may have targeted many more.

Chaitanyananda allegedly used an international number for communication, attempting to conceal his identity. He was caught in a hotel where he used his old name to avoid detection.

DCP South West Amit Goel said, “A detailed investigation is currently underway. Evidence is being gathered against him for whatever allegations he is facing. He is being questioned. The 3 women, in particular, were the ones who were with him from the beginning. Their role is being established. He may have lured many of them (the victims) with the promise of a job. He was not using his phone directly. He was using an international number for communication.”

The police have found lewd chats and women’s photos on Chaitanyananda’s phone, which suggests a pattern of predatory behaviour.

According to police, a complaint was received on August 4 at Vasant Kunj North Police Station from an administrator of the Sri Sharda Institute, alleging sexual harassment of female students pursuing PGDM courses under the EWS scholarship scheme.

Police said that during the enquiry, statements of 32 female students were recorded, out of which 17 alleged abusive language, obscene WhatsApp/SMS messages, and unwanted physical contact by the accused. Victims further alleged that female faculty and administrators pressured them to comply with the accused’s demands.

A case was registered on September 23 under charges of alleged sexual harassment against Chaitanyananda Saraswati. The Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, has already revoked the Powers of Attorney issued to him in 2008. (ANI)

‘Daughter Was Asked For Nude Pix’: Akshay Kumar Discloses Disturbing Online Experience

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on Friday shared a disturbing real-life incident that involved his 13-year-old daughter playing a video game to highlight the growing threat of cybercrime among children.

The actor recalled how a few months ago, his daughter, while playing an online video game, was approached by an unknown person who asked her to send pictures of herself.

The Bollywood actor recounted the experience in his address to the inaugural ceremony of the of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the State Police Headquarters in Mumbai held today.

“I want to tell you all a small incident which happened at my house a few months back. My daughter was playing a video game, and there are some video games that you can play with someone. You are playing with an unknown stranger,” Akshay said.

” While you are playing, sometimes a message comes from there…Then a message came, Are you male or female? So she replied female. And then he sent a message. Can you send me nude pictures of yours? It was my daughter. She switched off the whole thing and she went and told my wife. This is how things begin. This is also a part of cybercrime… I would request the Chief Minister that in our Maharashtra state, every week in the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth standards, there should be a period called cyber period where children should be explained about it. You all know that this crime is becoming bigger than street crime. It is very important to stop this crime…,” Akshay revealed.

The ‘Welcome’ star also appealed to the government to include cyber education as a weekly subject for school students (7th-10th), so they can stay safe and informed in the fast-changing digital space.

Akshay joined Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Director General of Police (Maharashtra State), Rashmi Shukla, Iqbal Singh Chahal (IPS) and Rani Mukerji among others at the event. (ANI)

Pakistan Claims Of Downing Indian Jets ‘Manohar Kahaniyan’: IAF Chief

Indian Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh on Friday dismissed Pakistan’s claims of shooting down Indian fighter jets during Operation Sindoor, calling them “Manohar Kahaniyan” (fanciful stories).

Singh said there was no evidence to support Pakistan’s claims, while India had shared images of damage caused to Pakistani targets.

He added that such claims were made only to save face and mislead their public.

Addressing the press conference on the 93rd Air Force Day celebrations in the national capital, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh said, “…If they think they shot down 15 of my jets, let them think about it. I hope they’re convinced about it, and they will cater for 15 less aircraft in my inventory when they come to fight again. So why should I talk about it? Even today, I won’t say anything about what happened, how much damage was done, how it happened, because let them find out…”

“Have you seen a single picture where something fell on any of our airbases, something hit us, a hangar was destroyed, or anything like that? We showed so many pictures of their places. However, they couldn’t show us even a single picture. So their narrative is ‘Manohar Kahaniyan’. Let them be happy, after all, they also have to show something to their audience to save their reputation. That doesn’t matter to me,” Singh said.

Pakistan has repeatedly made claims that it shot down several Indian fighter jets following India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, which was carried out in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that killed 26 tourists.

The IAF Chief also stated that the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is expected to have its first flight around 2028 and be inducted into the Air Force by 2035, adding that this timeline is achievable.

“…As I understand, it is going to fly in this decade, in the 2028, somewhere that is the first flight planned and by 2035, it is supposed to be inducted and operationalised in the Indian Air Force as of now… So I personally feel this timeline can be achieved, or maybe even better, if people really want to do it. It’s possible. And as far as technology is concerned now, AMCA technology is fairly clear in our mind as to what we want and what is required and where it is available and how it is available,” Singh said.

He said all options, including the Su-57 and Rafale, will be considered through a strict induction process, with preference given to aircraft that meet India’s requirements and offer technology transfer and manufacturing freedom.

Singh also said Rafale is one of the key options for new fighter jets, as it was found to be the best-suited aircraft during the earlier Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) contract.

“As far as SU-57 is concerned, I just want to say that we have to weigh all the options, and we in the defence ministry and in the Indian Air Force have a very set process of induction of any weapon system, and that process will be followed. So what comes will depend on what meets the requirement and what is best for us,” he said.

“These are one of the options like Su-57 he talked about, you talked about Rafale. So this is one of the options that is available with us because we had already done our own homework in terms of the earlier MMRCA contract, in that we have found Rafale to be the best aircraft suited for us amongst those candidates. Any aircraft of that class is what is required immediately. Now, whether it is Rafale or something else, it really doesn’t matter, but yes, Rafale is easy to absorb. So whichever design house is ready to come up with the proposal to make in India, to give us technology, give us more freedom, I think that design house should be chosen,” Singh said.

While on reports of terrorist groups setting up headquarters deep inside Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the IAF chief said India can accurately target and destroy such hideouts if intelligence is available.

“Obviously, it was expected… So, we are also getting such news that their hideouts are changing and now they will probably build smaller structures instead of big structures. But if intelligence is available, then we now have the capability to go deep inside any of their hideouts with absolutely accurate targeting. We can destroy them and their hideouts. So, our options have not changed. Our options will remain the same in this matter,” Singh said. (ANI)

Bareilly Police Maintains Vigil After Violent Protests

Days after protests over the ‘I Love Mohammad’ row turned violent, heavy police deployment continues in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly to maintain law and order.

Bareilly police conducted a flag march in the area on Thursday as a precautionary measure ahead of Dussehra celebrations in the city.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Bareilly, AK Sahni, told ANI that the situation in the city was “completely normal,” with police engaged in foot patrolling to maintain peace. He added that 10 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed in view of the celebrations.

“The situation is completely normal. Police are conducting a route march and foot patrolling. We are talking to all stakeholders. In view of the festivals, 10 companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), a Paramilitary force, along with the CRPF and district forces, are deployed here. We appeal to the public to celebrate festivals in a peaceful manner,” DIG Sahni said.

The senior police official further added that the miscreants responsible for the violence are being identified.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh police have arrested Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) National General Secretary Nafees Khan and his son Farman Khan in connection with the September 26 protests in Bareilly, taking the total arrests in the case to 81.

According to the police, Farman used to handle the Facebook page of IMC.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bareilly Anurag Arya informed that Nafees and his son revealed that “everyone was involved in the conspiracy”.

“Dr Nafees and his son have been arrested, and it has been revealed by them that everyone was involved in this conspiracy and that they deliberately created confusion by calling the appeal fake so that a crowd could gather. A total of 81 people have been arrested,” SSP Arya told ANI.

A group of people had gathered outside Ala Hazrat Dargah and IMC chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan’s house, holding “I Love Mohammad” placards.

The protestors pelted stones at the police during the protest after the Friday prayers.

In response to the unrest, the Bareilly administration suspended mobile internet and broadband services for 48 hours, from 3 pm on October 2 to 3 pm on October 4. (ANI)

Sonam Wangchuk’s Wife Gitanjali Angmo Approaches SC Seeking His Release

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali Angmo, on Friday approached the Supreme Court seeking her husband’s release.

Wangchuk was detained under the National Security Act (NSA) and was shifted to Jodhpur Central Jail in Rajasthan for allegedly inciting violent protests in Ladakh.

He was also booked under the NSA after violence in Leh, in which four people were killed and 80 others were injured.

In a post on social media X, Wangchuk’s wife wrote that she had no information about his health or the grounds of his detention.

“I have sought relief from the SUPREME COURT OF INDIA through a HABEAS CORPUS petition against @Wangchuk66’s detention. It is one week today. Still I have no information about Sonam Wangchuk’s health, the condition he is in nor the grounds of detention,” the post read.

Earlier, Gitanjali J Angmo slammed the Centre and alleged police torture against the people of Ladakh after the September 24 violence in the Union Territory.Comparing the current situation in Ladakh to that during British India, she said that the Union Home Ministry is “misusing” the Ladakh Police.

“Is India really free? In 1857, 24,000 Britishers used 135,000 Indian sepoys to oppress 300 million Indians under orders from the Queen. Today, a dozen administrators are misusing 2400 Ladakhi police to oppress and torture 3 lakh Ladakhis under the orders of the MHA,” Gitanjali wrote on X.

Angmo’s criticism of the MHA and the police comes amid curfew in Leh and police firing as a response to the violence on September 24. Following Sonam Wangchuk’s detention under the National Security Act (NSA), Gitanjali Angmo has refuted the allegations against Wangchuk being in touch with a Pakistani Intelligence Operative, and accused the Ladakh police of working with an “agenda”.

“Whatever the DGP is saying, he has an agenda. They don’t want to implement the 6th Schedule under any circumstances and want to make someone a scapegoat,” she alleged.

Gitanjali has also sent a representation for the immediate release of Shri Sonam Wangchuk to the President of India, Prime Minister of India, Home Minister, Law Minister of India, the LG of Ladakh and the DC Leh.

The violence on September 24 claimed the lives of four people amid police retaliation, after the protestors set a political party’s office on fire. The protests were a result of people demanding statehood and inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule, which turned into clashes with the police officials in Leh (ANI)

‘No Malice’: Sana Mir On ‘Azad Kashmir’ Remark During World Cup Commentary

Former Pakistan cricketer Sana Mir faced heavy trolling and criticism on social media for using the term ‘Azad Kashmir’ to describe a players city of origin during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Colombo.

After receiving the backlash, Sana responded on her official X handle, pointing out how “unfortunate” it is that “things are being blown out of proportion and people in sports are being subjected to unnecessary pressure.” She also attached a screenshot of the ESPNCricinfo profile of Natalia and added that, “There is no malice in my heart or any intention to hurt sentiments.”

“It’s unfortunate how things are being blown out of proportion and people in sports are being subjected to unnecessary pressure. It is sad that this requires an explanation at public level. My comment about a Pakistan player’s hometown was only meant to highlight the challenges she faced of coming from a certain region in Pakistan and her incredible journey. It is part of the story telling we do as commentators as where the players come from. I did that today for two other players coming from other regions, too. Please don’t politicise it. As a commentator on the World Feed, we are meant to focus on the sport, teams, and players, highlighting inspiring stories of grit and perseverance. There is no malice in my heart or any intention to hurt sentiments. I am also attaching the screen shot of where I research most of my players from, whether from Pakistan or any other country. I realise that they have changed it by now, but this is what I was referring to,” posted Sana on X.

The incident happened when Natalia Pervaiz had come to bat. Mir was heard during the commentary saying, “…Captaining a very young side. Yes, they have won the qualifiers, but a lot of these players are new. Natalia who comes from Kashmir, Azad Kashmir, plays in Lahore a lot of cricket. She has to come to Lahore to play most of her cricket there.”

The region has been denoted by India as Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The video of her mentioning the same went viral on social media, drawing plenty of criticism from fans. Some of the fans urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to remove her from the panel of commentators, which is part of the ongoing Women’s World Cup. Though the tournament is being hosted by India, Pakistan is playing all its matches in Colombo as per the hybrid model.

An X user named AT10 said, “Sana Mir is doing commentary for the ICC World Cup… If someone is afraid of losing his/her respect he/she thinks 10 times before saying anything but she is from a country where there is no such thing as respect.. Remove her @ICC from the panel.”

Another X user named Ajay Jangid said, “What the hell is ‘Azaad Kashmir’ @ICC @BCCI? Using this on a global stage is outrageous. @JayShah @MithunManhas, take immediate, strict action–Ban Sana Mir . There is NO ‘Azaad Kashmir.’ Such anti-India propaganda has no place in cricket! #PakvsBan #CWC25.”

Another X user, Sushi Rani, also posted, “@cricketworldcup @BCCI @AmitShah please do the needful for Sana Mir. Fire her now.”

Coming to the match, some tidy bowling from Bangladesh, particularly Shorna Akter (3/5 in 3.3 overs), reduced Pakistan to 129 in 38.3 overs, with Rameen Shamim (23) and skipper Fatima Sana (22) being the only ones crossing the 20-run mark.

Rubya Haider (54 in 77 balls, with eight fours) was the star of the run-chase for Bangladesh as she helped her nation start the campaign with a seven wicket win with 113 balls left.

India will notably take on Pakistan in a high-octane clash at Colombo on Sunday. (ANI)
