Delhi Set For 1st Artificial Rain; Cloud Seeding Plane Leaves From Kanpur

Delhi is expected to witness its first artificial rain, as the aircraft designated for cloud seeding has taken off from Kanpur for the national capital.

Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa confirmed the development.

Cloud seeding involves artificially generating rainfall by introducing specific particles, such as silver iodide crystals or salt-based compounds, into moisture-laden clouds.

Aircraft are used to disperse these particles, which condense smaller cloud droplets into larger raindrops, potentially leading to precipitation.

Post-Diwali, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) has been reeling under the ‘poor’ and ‘very poor’ categories in several areas, even as Stage 2 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) remains in effect.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI in Delhi stood at 304 as of 1 pm on Tuesday, classified as the ‘very poor’ category.

Among the city’s monitoring stations, Anand Vihar reported an AQI of 311, RK Puram 316, Siri Fort 347, Bawana 334, Burari Crossing 319, Dwarka Sector 8 311, Mundka 318, Narela 302 and Punjabi Bagh 313 — all categorised as ‘very poor’.

Last week, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described cloud seeding as a necessity for the national capital and a pioneering step toward addressing the city’s persistent environmental challenges.

Speaking to ANI, Rekha Gupta said, “Cloud seeding is a necessity for Delhi and is the first experiment of its kind. We want to try it in Delhi to see if it can help us control this very serious environmental problem.”

She added, “So the blessings of the people of Delhi are with the government, and we feel that this will be a successful experiment and in the future, we will be able to overcome these environmental problems.” (ANI)

Shreyas Iyer Undergoing Treatment At St Vincent’s Hospital For Spleen Injury

Team India’s middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer has been admitted to St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, where he is undergoing treatment after he sustained an “impact injury” to his left lower rib cage while taking a catch during the third Sydney ODI against Australia, and scans revealed a laceration injury to the spleen.

Iyer dismissed Alex Carey on a Harshit Rana delivery in the third ODI with an amazing diving catch while sprinting from backward point. But when he dived, he landed awkwardly on his ribs and elbows.

After taking the catch, he was in extreme pain, clutching his ribs as he was taken back to the pavilion by the medical staff.

Earlier on Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Shreyas Iyer sustained a spleen injury during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney and is currently under medical care.

“Shreyas Iyer sustained an impact injury to his left lower rib cage region while fielding during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney on 25th October 2025. He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation,” said a statement from BCCI.

The statement further revealed that Iyer is “medically stable”.

“Scans have revealed a laceration injury to the spleen. He is under treatment, medically stable, and recovering well. The BCCI Medical Team, in consultation with specialists in Sydney and India, is closely monitoring his injury status. The Indian team doctor will remain in Sydney with Shreyas to evaluate his day-to-day progress,” the statement added.

During the ODI series in Australia, Shreyas scored 72 runs in two games, including a valiant 77-ball 61 in the second Adelaide ODI, during which he stitched a century stand with Rohit Sharma.

Fans would hope that Iyer makes a quick recovery, as he is one of the backbones of the Indian middle order along with KL Rahul and Axar Patel. This year, in 11 matches and 10 innings, he has scored 496 runs at an average of 49.60, striking at 89.53, with five fifties and a best score of 79.

This also includes an ICC Champions Trophy-winning campaign, during which he scored 243 runs in five innings at an average of 48.60, with two fifties, finishing as India’s top run-getter and overall second-highest.

He is one of India’s premier batters, with 2,917 runs in 73 ODIs and 67 innings at an average of 47.81, including five centuries and 23 fifties and a best score of 128*. The injury puts his participation in South Africa ODIs at home, starting from November 30, under serious jeopardy. (ANI)

Speaking to ANI, Sirsa stated, “Regarding cloud seeding, as soon as the weather clears up in Kanpur, our aircraft will take off from there today. If it succeeds in taking off from there, cloud seeding will be done in Delhi today. Through that cloud seeding, there will be rainfall in Delhi. Right now, the visibility in Kanpur is 2000 metres. Visibility of 5000 metres is being awaited there. Visibility is low in Delhi too. We hope that this will be possible by 12.30-1 pm. Then it will take off from there, do cloud seeding here and return.”

‘We Want NDA To Announce The Name Of Their CM’: Tejashwi Yadav

Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Minister nominee Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday demanded that the National Democratic Alliance reveal their CM face for the Bihar elections, while highlighting the release of their manifesto named ‘Tejashwi Pran Patra’ today.

Tejashwi said that he would like to know the NDA’s agenda and vision, and accused them of speaking negatively and making allegations against Mahagathbandhan leaders.

“We have announced the CM’s face as well. Today, we are going to release the ‘Tejashwi Pran Patra’ on how we are going to work for the next 5 years. We want NDA to announce the name of their CM. What schemes do they have? What is their vision, and how are they going to take Bihar forward? We have given a roadmap, a vision, and we are clear that we will make Bihar number one. They only speak negative things and make allegations about our leaders,” Tejashwi Yadav told reporters.

Earlier, on October 19, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan had reiterated his support for Nitish Kumar as the leader of the NDA alliance in the Bihar assembly polls and said that after the results, elected MLAs will once again choose the JD(U) leader as the Chief Minister.

Yadav also hit out at the Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, citing the difficulties faced by the passengers during the Chhath Puja. He mentioned that the people of Bihar have made up their mind for a change in the government in the assembly elections.

“Look, today we are campaigning — we have to go all across Bihar. The people of Bihar are in the mood for change; we have said this before. Those people of Bihar who had migrated outside and returned home during Chhath — seeing the condition in which they came back was painful. The Railway Minister had announced that 12,000 special trains would be run, but just look at the state of our brothers and sisters being packed tightly into the trains — what happened to those “special” trains?,” he told reporters.

Earlier, on October 23, the Mahagathbandhan announced the release of a joint manifesto for the Bihar Assembly elections. The development was followed by the announcement of Tejashwi Yadav as the face of the opposition alliance for the polls.

Mukesh Sahani, who heads the Vikasheel Insaan Pary, has been named as the Deputy CM nominee from the Mahagathbandhan.

The 2025 Bihar elections will have the main contest between the National Democratic Alliance and the Mahagathbandhan.NDA includes the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

Mahagathbandhan, led by Rashtriya Janata Dal, includes Congress party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) led by Deepankar Bhattacharya, the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).

Additionally, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj has also staked claims on all 243 seats of the state. The assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. The results will be declared on November 14. (ANI)

‘They Refused Auditions’: Sonam Bajwa Reveals Her Struggle Against Typecasting In Bollywood

Actress Sonam Bajwa opened up on facing typecasting in Bollywood, claiming that the Hindi film fraternity was unaware of her work in the Punjab film industry and saw her as nothing more than a glamorous face for cinema.

Sonam Bajwa is currently garnering a limelight for her impactful performance in the recently released film ‘Ek Deewane ki Deewaniyat’, which also stars Harshvardhan Rane in the lead role.

The ‘Ardab Mutiyaran’ star played the role of an actress who revolts against the toxic love from Harshvardhan Rane in the film.

In an interview with ANI, Sonam revealed that, despite her diverse filmography in Punjabi cinema, Hindi filmmakers found it hard to see her beyond her glamorous image.

As a result, the actress had to wait a long time before debuting in Bollywood.

While talking to ANI, she said, “I waited for so many years to finally get a Hindi film where I have something to do, even as an actor and not just to be there because I look good or glamorous. Whenever offers came my way, it always felt like people in Hindi cinema hadn’t really seen my Punjabi work. So, for them, it was difficult to even imagine me in a non-glamorous role.”

Sonam Bajwa expressed displeasure with the persistent typecasting among the Bollywood filmmakers, which limited her chances of landing performance-orientated roles in the Hindi film industry.

“They used to say, ‘We don’t know if Sonam could do such performance-orientated roles because we haven’t seen her work much.’ I was always open to auditions, but sometimes they even refused to take auditions because they were so sure in their minds that I couldn’t do such roles,” said Sonam Bajwa.

“I don’t know what perception I have given through my social media or public appearances, but this is what they thought. It took me years to get a part where I could truly perform as an actor,” added Bajwa while referring to her role in ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’.

Sonam Bajwa is one of the successful actresses of the Punjab film industry. She is known for her films like ‘Punjab 1984’, ‘Sardaar Ji 2’, ‘Nikka Zaildar’, ‘Manje Bistre’, ‘Nikka Zaildar 2’, ‘Carry on Jatta 2’, ‘Guddiyan Patole’, ‘Ardab Mutiyaran’, ‘Honsla Rakh’ and others.

The actress recently made her way into the Bollywood industry with her roles in ‘Housefull 5’ and ‘Baaghi 4’.

As for ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’, the film was directed by Milap Zaveri. The romantic drama is currently running in theatres. (ANI)

Chiranjeevi Lodges Complaint With Hyderabad Police Over AI-Generated Deepfake Videos

Actor Chiranjeevi has lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police after AI-generated deepfake videos featuring him in obscene content surfaced on pornographic websites, officials said on Monday.

Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case under Sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act, Sections 79, 294, 296 and 336(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Sections 2(c), 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

In his complaint, Chiranjeevi said that the circulation of AI-generated deepfake pornographic content has caused “severe and irreparable harm” to his hard-earned reputation.

“These manufactured videos are being maliciously used to portray me in obscene and vulgar contexts, thereby distorting public perception and undermining decades of goodwill. Such acts not only inflict personal and emotional distress upon me and my loved ones but also mislead the general public by creating a false and defamatory narrative that contradicts my true character and public image,” Chiranjeevi said in his complaint to the police.

He urged the authorities to initiate an immediate criminal and technical investigation against those involved in creating, uploading, and disseminating the fake videos.

Chiranjeevi also sought urgent blocking and removal of the fabricated content from the internet, including mirror and affiliated websites.

Notably, the Hyderabad City Civil Court recently granted an injunction protecting Chiranjeevi’s personality rights, barring unauthorised use of his name, image, or voice.

“The Court of the Chief Judge, City Civil Court, Hyderabad, through Order dated 26th September 2025, in I.A. No.6275 of 2025 in O.S.No.441 of 2025, has granted an ad-interim injunction in favour of renowned film actor Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi, whose distinguished career spans over four decades and includes numerous honours such as the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, sought the court’s intervention to stop widespread unpermitted usage of his identity on merchandise, online platforms, and through the application of artificial intelligence technologies,” a statement issued by the legal Team of Megastar Chiranjeevi read.

According to the statement, the court recognised Chiranjeevi as one of the most iconic personalities in the Indian film industry, whose reputation and public esteem have suffered due to the defendant parties’ actions–specifically naming, image use, video memes, and merchandise sales without consent.

The order emphasises that such exploitation and misrepresentation, primarily through digital and AI mediums, pose severe, irreparable harm to Chiranjeevi’s reputation and economic interests. The injunction restrains defendants from directly or indirectly using Chiranjeevi’s name, stage titles (including ‘MEGA STAR’, ‘CHIRU’, and ‘ANNAYYA’), voice, image, or any other exclusive personality attribute for any commercial or personal gain, across all formats and media, it said.

The order also directs that urgent notification be sent to all respondents, with further proceedings scheduled for October 27, 2025. Any infringement of personality or publicity rights, or any act of defamation, will incur severe consequences under both civil and criminal law, said the statement.

According to the order by City Civil Court in Hyderabad, all persons and entities including but not limited to television channels, digital platforms and media organisations are expressly cautioned that direct or indirect use, misrepresentation, or distortion of Chiranjeevi’s name, image, voice, likeness, or personality attributes for the purpose of increasing viewership, enhancing TRPs, or deriving any commercial or reputational benefit, without explicit written consent of the actor, will be met with the strictest remedies available under law, ensuring robust enforcement of rights and protection against reputational harm.

According to the statement, on October 11, 2025, Chiranjeevi met Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, and personally handed over a copy of the Court Order to him. During the meeting, Chiranjeevi sought Sajjanar’s advice regarding the process of setting criminal law into motion in this context.

The two engaged in a constructive discussion on the need for penal laws to be made fiercer and more coercive to effectively address and deter such violations, reflecting Chiranjeevi’s commitment to combating unauthorised exploitation of personality rights and also invasion of privacy, it said.

Sajjanar reiterated that the legal action taken by Chiranjeevi serves to reinforce the importance of personality and publicity rights within the Indian entertainment industry, ensuring respect for the individual’s reputation and intellectual property, it added. (ANI)

Yami On How Her Character In ‘HAQ’ Connect With Audience

Bollywood actor Yami Gautam, known for impactful performances, opened up about her experience portraying a powerful role inspired by the landmark 1985 Shah Bano case in her upcoming film ‘HAQ’, and how the character will connect with every woman, irrespective of their religion.

Directed by Suparn S Varma, ‘HAQ’ also features Vartika Singh, Danish Husain, Sheeba Chadha, and Aseem Hattangady in prominent roles.

The film, also starring Emraan Hashmi, revisits one of India’s most debated legal cases, highlighting women’s rights and the pursuit of justice beyond religious lines.

Speaking to ANI, Yami shared that her approach to the character was deeply emotional. “When you read a story or a script, as an actor, it is my job to understand it, not just read it. The emotional understanding of a character is extremely important, especially when the script is strong,” she said, recalling her first meeting with director Suparn S Varma and writer Reshu Nath. “I remember the first time when Suparn and Reshu Nath came for the meeting, I understood the essence of the film. Of course, when I read the script, it was different, but Suparn was very clear about the kind of film she wanted to make–what she wanted to show and how she wanted to treat it. For me, it was about complementing that vision through my performance.”

The actor explained that her character, Shazia Bano, evolves through several life stages in the film, from a young bride to a mother, and finally, a woman fighting for dignity. “We did not use any prosthetics, because sometimes people lose focus, so it is better to keep it as natural as possible. So there are some scenes where I did not use any makeup. In fact, we felt there should be more depth in the under-eye area. It’s not about vanity, it’s about making that character inside out, so that you feel that the skin is also hers. It’s not Yami’s, it’s Shazia’s,” she shared.

Reflecting on the film’s broader social context, Yami said, “As far as the film is concerned, I have approached this character, whether that character is Shazia Bano, someone who is from this community, or someone from another community, someone who is a Hindu, even then everyone will identify at some level. Because the problems are not just one fold. Even today, even though we have a mic, we talk, we are aware, we are educated, everyone is telling us to educate our daughters, we should know our rights, there is a lot of awareness, which is a very good thing.”

Discussing societal themes, she added, “India is very big. We are also from India, and a small city, which we call the heartland. The problems there will be different, although you cannot give it legally. In 2017, the current government banned it. But the problems, somewhere –every woman, no matter what religion she is from, I think, will definitely see herself. “

Yami also emphasised that ‘HAQ’ is not just a courtroom drama but an emotionally layered story that combines realism with entertainment. “Sometimes we do films that are purely fictional, but ‘HAQ’ is different; it’s entertaining, powerful, and thought-provoking.”

Suparn S Varma added, “…Shazia Bano, a small socially, very lonely woman, how she fought for her dignity, she used the system, and it worked, I believe that, in life, everyone has problems, everyone has difficulties, there is no one, who is happy or sad, it depends on us, and Shazia Bano, is such an inspirational woman, who despite it all, fought the odds, and used the system, and the system works, otherwise the world will shut down, and I would like to add, what Yami ji said, that discrimination exists all over the world, of all kinds, form, colour, shape, size, economic, social, religion, but the fact is, our job as film makers, is to show it”

Praising her co-star Emraan Hashmi, Yami said, “He has shown incredible patience, professionalism, and versatility in this film. His performance adds depth and balance to the narrative.”

Describing the project’s intent, she added, “‘HAQ’ is a film with dignity. It speaks about resilience, love, betrayal, and justice. We are not telling the audience what is right or wrong, we’re simply showing a story.”

Directed by Suparn S Varma, ‘HAQ’ also features Vartika Singh, Danish Husain, Sheeba Chadha, and Aseem Hattangady in prominent roles.

Made under the banner of Junglee Pictures, the film is produced by Vineet Jain, Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta, and Harman Baweja.

It will hit theatres on November 7, 2025. (ANI)

DMK Alliance Meet Nov 2; Stalin Calls SIR Phase 2 EC ‘Conspiracy’

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led Alliance has called for an all-party meeting on November 2 to discuss the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Phase-2, announced earlier on Monday by the Election Commission.

A crucial consultation meeting, chaired by DMK Party Chief and Chief Minister MK Stalin, was held at Anna Arivalayam, Chennai, earlier today to discuss SIR Phase 2.

The meeting, which lasted from 6 pm to 7 pm, decided to convene an all-party meeting on November 2 to address practical difficulties and plan strategies, given the monsoon season.

In a post on X, Tamil Nadu CM Stalin said that the SIR exercise during the monsoon months of November and December will bring serious practical difficulties.

“To carry out Special Intensive Revision just months before the election, and especially during the monsoon months of November and December, brings serious practical difficulties. To conduct SIR in a hasty and opaque manner is nothing but a conspiracy by the ECI to rob citizens of their rights and help the BJP,” Stalin said.

He alleged that in Bihar, large numbers of women, minorities and people from SC and ST communities were removed from the electoral rolls, adding that “the absence of transparency has fuelled serious suspicion in the public mind.”

“Now the ECI has announced that #SIR will begin in Tamil Nadu from next week. Following the announcement, we held discussions with our alliance partners, and on that basis an all party meeting will be convened on 2 November to decide the next course of action. The right to vote is the foundation of democracy. Tamil Nadu will fight against any attempt to murder it, and Tamil Nadu will win,” MK Stalin asserted.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will conduct the second phase of Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls across 12 States and Union Territories, with the final voter list to be published on February 7, 2026, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar said on Monday.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, CEC Kumar said the exercise will cover Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

According to the Election Commission, printing and training will take place from October 28 to November 3, followed by an Enumeration Phase from November to December 4. The Draft Electoral Rolls will be published on December 9, followed by a claims and objection period from December 9 to January 8, 2026. The Notice Phase (for hearing and verification) will take place between December 9 and January 31, 202, with publication of Final Electoral Rolls on February 7, 2026.

“The second phase of SIR (Special Intensive Revision) is about to be carried out in 12 States and UTs,” the CEC said. (ANI)
