Rajasthan: Parents Allege School Lapses, Demand Swift Action In School Student’s Death Case

The anger of the family continues to rise in the case of the suspicious death of a fourth-grade student in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, with the father of the victim stating that the police has “not taken any concrete action” so far.

Speaking to ANI on Saturday, the father of the deceased student said that 22 days have passed since the incident. He said that, despite the seriousness of the matter, the investigation has remained extremely slow, adding to the family’s anguish.

He stated that in their search for justice, he and other family members met MP Kirori Lal Meena and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari. “All of them assured us that action would be taken, but till today not a single step has been initiated at any level,” he said.

He further said that the CBSE conducted a preliminary inquiry within just one or two days after the incident and issued a notice stating that the tragedy could have been prevented, calling it a “major case of negligence by the school”.

“When the CBSE can investigate so quickly, why is the Rajasthan Education Department still silent? If the building was unsafe, who granted this school permission?” he asked.

He also referred to the CCTV footage, in which the girl appeared stressed before the incident. He alleged that the class teacher “failed to pay attention”, which clearly reflects negligence on the part of the school staff.

The family is now demanding a fair and speedy investigation, strict action against those responsible, and strong legal measures against the school management. (ANI)

“Delighted to meet President Macron during the Johannesburg G20 Summit. We had an engaging exchange on different issues. India-France ties remain a force for global good!” PM Modi wrote on X.

Meanwhile, during the second session of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (local time) stressed the urgent need to enhance international cooperation for disaster preparedness and response.

Pointing to the rising frequency and impact of natural disasters worldwide, he described them as a major challenge for humanity. He noted that India had established the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group during its 2023 G20 presidency to strengthen global collaboration in this area and commended South Africa for prioritising the issue.

“Natural disasters continue to pose a major challenge to humanity. This year as well, they have impacted a large portion of the global population. These events clearly highlight the need to strengthen international cooperation for effective disaster preparedness and response. To support this idea, India formed the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group during its G20 Presidency. I also congratulate South Africa for giving priority to this important agenda,” PM Modi said during his address.

PM Modi called for a shift from a “response-centric” to a “development-centric” approach to building disaster resilience. Highlighting India’s belief that space technology should serve all of humanity, he proposed a G20 Open Satellite Data Partnership to make satellite data from G20 space agencies more accessible and valuable, particularly for the Global South. Delhi’s Air Quality Turns ‘Severe’ As AQI Reading Soars To 435

The national capital woke up to dense smog on Sunday morning as the average Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 381 at 7 am, falling under the ‘very poor’ category despite the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-IV in effect across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

A layer of thick smog engulfed several areas, showing little to no improvement from Sunday morning’s AQI of 359.

Bawana recorded the highest AQI level of 435 at 7 am, falling under the ‘severe’ category. In contrast, NSIT Dwarka recorded the lowest AQI of 313, according to the data by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

A layer of toxic smog lingers in the air of Anand Vihar, as the Central Pollution Control Board reported that the Air Quality Index in the area is 429, categorised as ‘very poor’.

Chandani Chowk recorded an AQI of 390, RK Puram 397, ITO 384, Punjabi Bagh 411, Patparganj 401, Pusa 360, and Dwaraka Sector-8 386.

Visuals from India Gate and Kartavya Path are blanketed in a layer of toxic smog, with the AQI in the area at 388 in the ‘very poor’ category, according to the CPCB.

According to AQI categorisation, 0-50 is ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’, and 401-500 ‘severe’.

Meanwhile on Saturday, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) NCR and Adjoining Areas has revised the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for the entire NCR, directed to impose the measures for ‘Severe’ AQI category under GRAP Stage IV to be taken under GRAP Stage III, a press release said.

According to a press release by CAQM, as measures under GRAP IV are now under GRAP III, the NCR State Governments/GNCTD will decide whether public, municipal, and private offices can operate at 50 per cent strength, with the rest working from home.

The Central Government may take a decision on permitting work from home for employees in central government offices.

Earlier on Friday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that Delhi’s pollution crisis has become a public health emergency due to the manipulation of air quality data and the failure to enforce graded restrictions meant to curb toxic air.

Bharadwaj accused the BJP-run Delhi Government of fabricating AQI readings and allowing both government and private construction to operate despite GRAP-3 bans. He said pollution levels of 500-700 were falsely recorded as 300-400 to avoid triggering mandatory restrictions. (ANI)

Uttar Pradesh To Set Up Detention Centre For Illegal Immigrants

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday instructed all district magistrates to take strict action against illegal immigrants in the state.

CM Yogi Adityanath directed officials to set up temporary detention centres to house illegal infiltrators, according to a brief statement.

The CM said that illegal immigrants held in detention centres will be deported to their countries of origin as per the standard procedures.

UP CM’s stringent measures against illegal immigrants are aimed at ensuring national security and maintaining law and order in the state.

This comes amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh and 11 other states and UTs

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah called on citizens of the country to fully support the ongoing nationwide process of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, saying that the process is essential to protect the nation and democracy itself, with the exercise ensuring that “every single infiltrator” will be removed from the electoral list.

“Mein aaj yeh yeh spasht karna chahta hu ki hum is desh mein se eke k ghuspetiye ko chun chun kar bahar nikalenge, yeh humara pran nhai (today I want to make it clear that we will single-handedly remove all the infiltrators from this country. This is our pledge.) The SIR is a process to protect the country and our democracy.,” Shah said while addressing the Border Security Force’s 61st Raising Day event at Haripur, Bhuj in Gujarat.

The second phase of SIR is underway in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

According to the Election Commission, printing and training took place from October 28 to November 3, followed by an Enumeration Phase from November 4 to December 4.

The draft electoral rolls will be published on December 9, followed by a claims and objections period from December 9 to January 8, 2026. The Notice Phase (for hearing and verification) will take place between December 9 and January 31, 2026, with publication of Final Electoral Rolls on February 7, 2026.

The opposition has strongly opposed the SIR process, alleging that it is aimed at striking the names of voters from underprivileged communities off the voter lists. (ANI)

Delhi-NCR Pollution

Not Just Lungs, Air Pollution Also Affects Your Brain, Memory

Along with lung diseases, air pollution can also cause dementia in an individual, Neurologist Dr (Col) Joy Dev Mukherji said in an exclusive interview with ANI.

Dr Joy Dev Mukherji said that “statistical correlation” has been found between air pollution and dementia. However, he added that the exact mechanism behind it “is still not elicited,” but suggested that it can be because of “neuroinflammation, which leads to neurodegeneration.”

Speaking about whether Air pollution can cause stroke, Neurologist Joy Dev Mukherji dismissed these assumptions but suggested the risk of dementia.

“Air pollution has not been graded as a risk factor for stroke, but for dementia it is proved. So the exact mechanism is not known, but it has been found that there is a statistical correlation. If there is air pollution, besides other diseases like lung diseases, dementia has been found that places where there is an increased amount of particulate pollution, you get dementia,” he said.

“The exact mechanism is still not elicited. But probably what I can guess is it causes neuroinflammation, which leads to neurodegeneration and that causes dementia,” he added.

Dr Mukherji, who served in the Armed Forces Medical Services, said that pollution affects the blood, leading to such diseases, and advised people to take simple precautions.

“Control your weight, control your blood pressure, control your diabetes, control your cholesterol, lipids. As of today, lipids are important. Control your exercise, have a decent amount of exercise, and walk every day for 30 minutes or 20 minutes. Don’t smoke, don’t drink too much. These are the simple precautions that one has to take,” he said.

The air pollution has remained “very severe” category in the national capital, with an average AQI of 350 for the past few days. The Delhi government, taking precautionary measures, has issued a notice to schools to suspend outdoor activities and sports events, following concerns raised by the Supreme Court over the deteriorating air quality.

The Delhi government has also directed all executing agencies, ground officers, and contractors to strictly adhere to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) guidelines such as erecting dust/wind barriers of at least 2 meters in height along road cutting stretches wider than 18 meters. Covering and keeping loose soil and construction debris moist to prevent air-borne dust. Regular sprinkling of water on unpaved or loose soil areas to suppress dust. Storing all construction waste only at designated sites and not on public roads.

Stringent action is being taken against all construction and demolition sites found causing dust or running air-polluting activities, ensuring full compliance with Delhi’s dust mitigation norms. Over 50 such projects have been shut across Delhi so far.

Neurologist Dr Mukherji also busted the myth that doing Yoga prevents stroke. He said that while doing yoga is beneficial, it does not help reduce “cholesterol, hypertension”, which are the leading causes of a stroke.

“Doing yoga doesn’t mean that you will not have a stroke. If you have high cholesterol, how will yoga help? And if you have hypertension, how will it help? You have to take medicines for hypertension. You have to take medicines for diabetes. You have to take medicines for your lipid. And if you have a heart condition, how will yoga save you? Yoga is good, but it is not going to prevent a stroke,” he said.

According to the Global Burden of Diseases Report 2021, there are an estimated 18 lakh strokes in India every year, the highest globally. The disease also kills 7 lakh people every year, making it one of the leading causes of death in India. (ANI)

Samajwadi Party Elections

BJP-ECI Trying To Manipulate Seats Where INDIA Bloc Won: Akhilesh Yadav

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday accused Election Commission and Bharatiya Janata Party of misusing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging that they are working together to “cancel over 50,000 votes” in the assembly constituencies where INIDIA bloc parties registered a victory in 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Addressing a press conference, Akhilesh Yadav expressed concern about the EC and the BJP, particularly about the BJP’s “targeting” of Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal through SIR.

“After the Bihar elections, we learn from newspapers, social media, and other sources that the BJP is preparing on an extensive level in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal in collaboration with the Election Commission. After the 2024 loss, the BJP and EC are targeting UP and West Bengal,” Akhilesh Yadav said.

“The most important point is that the BJP, its government, its officials, and the Election Commission are working together to cancel over 50,000 votes in the assembly constituencies where the Samajwadi Party and the INDIA Alliance won in 2024, using the pretext of SIR,” he alleged.

Akhilesh Yadav said that the Samajwadi Party will remain vigilant against this and appealed to people to ensure their names are on the voter list.

“This is what is happening in Uttar Pradesh, and preparations are underway in West Bengal, so we are vigilant. We appeal to people to ensure that their name is in the voter list,” Akhilesh Yadav said.

Currently, a nationwide SIR is underway in 12 states and union territories, with the final elector’s list to be published on February 7, 2026.

These states and UTs are: Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress will hold an internal meeting on November 24, chaired by party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. The objective of this meeting will be a SIR-related review, improvements across many places and districts, and ensuring that no names are left out.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet the Matua community in Bongaon, North 24 Parganas, on November 25. (ANI)

Kriti Sanon: I Studied In Uniform, Missed ‘DU Campus Feel’

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon, who is born and brought up in Delhi, has one regret that she never got a chance to enjoy campus life and had to wear a uniform in her institute.

Speaking about her regret and what she missed during her college days, the gorgeous actress said, “I have studied in Jaypee Institute of Information Technology. To vo college vaali feel hoti hai na, Delhi ke DU ke campus vaali feel North Campus vaali feel mai bahut jalti thi apni behan(Nupur Sanon) se (i missed that college feel, Delhi, DU campus feel, North campus feel, I was very jealous of my sister). She had that college life. I used to be in a uniform, really studying like a crazy person, doing engineering somewhere in Noida. So, I think I missed having that college life.”

However, she feels her dream was “fulfilled” after she landed the role of Mukti in Aanand L. Rai’s directorial ‘Tere Ishk Mein’.

Speaking to the media in Delhi, she shared, “When Aanand sir told us that we were shooting in DU. I was so excited because I had never seen that college life. That one dream got fulfilled.”

As the actress shot in the Capital for her film, she enjoyed Delhi food, “There are all kinds of emotions in Delhi…,” adding that shooting in the city felt like being at home. She also revealed the team’s culinary rivalry during filming. “We had a competition on who brought better food from the best places in Delhi,” she said.

For Anand Rai, the resonance between ‘Raanjhanaa’ and ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ is not about continuation but personal growth. “Every decade, you evolve. The characters you see in Kundan and Shankar are more like me and Himanshu. This is a story of our journey,” he explained. “Its rage will be similar, its aggression will be similar, because that is the emotion we grew with.”

Kriti said she viewed her character Mukti as entirely independent of earlier comparisons. “This is a different story. I didn’t have ‘Raanjhanaa’ in my mind,” she said, adding that the emotional graph of Mukti demanded depth. ” I was happy that Aanand sir was directing me, and I was working with Dhanush. And finally, as Dhanush said, in the life of an actor, you rarely get a character where you have to play and do a lot.

I have already told you how Mukti starts and ends. In my opinion, there are two different characters.”

She continued while praising the writer Himanshu Sharma and the director, saying,”Showing that journey, and often the characters written by Himanshu (Himanshu Sharma), are a little complicated. They are not white or black. They have some greyness. They can go a little here and there. There is a very thin line that you have to play on, which is exciting for an actor. When you have a director like Aanand sir, who I feel is so passionate, he is an emotional director. With every scene, I think the only direction that he gives you as an actor is the emotion of what he wants to feel.”

For Aanand L. Rai, the resonance between ‘Raanjhanaa’ and ‘Tere Ishk Mein is not about continuation but personal growth. “Every decade, you evolve. The characters you see in Kundan and Shankar are more like me and Himanshu. This is a story of our journey,” he explained. “Its rage will be similar, its aggression will be similar, because that is the emotion we grew with.”

Dhanush emphasised that language never dictates his choices. “I only go by the script,” he said, adding he agreed to Aanand L. Rai’s offer even before hearing the full narration. “He is a very difficult man to say no to,” he said with a smile.

Talking about the film, Kriti plays Mukti, a young woman who falls for the fierce, volatile, rule-breaking Shankar (Dhanush). But circumstances pull them apart before their love can take shape. Unable to cope with the heartbreak, Dhanush’s character becomes vengeful and pledges to burn ‘entire Delhi’ to ashes for his broken heart.

Director Aanand L Rai first revealed the project on the 10th anniversary of ‘Raanjhanaa’, his 2013 romantic drama that also starred Dhanush in a leading role.

‘Tere Ishk Mein’ is produced under the banners of Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and Colour Yellow Productions. Producers include Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar.

It will hit the theatres on November 28. (ANI)
