Court Rejects Bail Plea Of Ex-MCD Councillor Tahir Hussain, In UAPA Case

Delhi’s Karkardooma Court on Thursday rejected regular bail pleas of Tahir Hussain, Athar Khan and Saleem Malik alias Munna. They are accused in a case linked to the alleged conspiracy of the Delhi riots. They have been charge-sheeted under UAPA.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Sameer Bajpai rejected the bail pleas of Ex MCD councillor Tahir Hussain, Athar Khan and Saleem Malik alias Munna.

While rejecting the bail pleas, the court said there is no merit in the applications in view of the provisions of ofthe Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

On January 5, the Supreme Court granted bail to 5 accused in this case. The bail pleas of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam were rejected by the apex court.

“Now, despite the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court regarding co-accused persons, when this Court has once formed the opinion that prima facie a case is made out against the applicant, no other different opinion can be formed now by reviewing the earlier order,” ASJ Bajpai said in the order passed on January 29.

While dismissing the bail plea of Tahir Hussain, the court said, “Accordingly, the Court doesn’t find merits in the application, and the same is hereby dismissed.”

The court dismissed Tahir Hussain’s bail application on March 30, 2024, and stated that the Allegations against the Accused are prima facie true.

“In the earlier order, this Court also observed that a prima facie case was there against the applicant and the bar under section 43D(5) OF UAPA was there and therefore, the case of the applicant was not a fit case for bail,” the court said in the order.

In this case, Tahir Hussain, Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Natasha Narwal, Devangana Kalita, Asif Iqbal Tanha, Ishrat Jahan, Safoora Zargar and others are accused in this case. They are charge-sheeted under the IPC and the UAPA. The matter is at the stage of arguements on charges. (ANI)

SRK Smilingly Removes Goggles At Airport

Shah Rukh Khan again displayed his down-to-earth nature at the Mumbai airport as he smiled and removed his goggles when asked by a security official, and also made a “sweet gesture”.

SRK was spotted at the Mumbai airport during the wee hours of Thursday. In no time, his visuals captured by the paps surfaced online.

While his cool look drew fans’ attention, netizens also noticed his gesture towards the CISF official.

At the airport depature gate, the CISF official greeted Shah Rukh with a smile as he checked his documents. He politely asked the actor to remove his sunglasses, and Shah Rukh obliged immediately.

After handing back the passport with a nod and a smile, the ‘Pathaan’ star patted the official’s arm before making his way inside.

Meanwhile, on the work front, SRK is all set to come up with ‘King’ this year.

Last week, SRK and director Siddharth Anand officially announced that King will release in theatres on December 24, 2026, making it a major Christmas release.

Along with the date, the team also shared fresh visuals from the film. The new clips show Shah Rukh Khan in a bold and intense avatar, hinting at a high-action story.

The film’s title was revealed on November 2, coinciding with Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday. On his 60th birthday last year, the makers dropped a teaser from the film, featuring gripping visuals, fast-paced action, and a darker, more intense version of Khan than audiences have ever seen before.

With silver hair, sharp features, and a brooding aura, the actor embodied a ruthless, enigmatic persona. In one of the standout moments, SRK delivers a chilling dialogue that instantly caught the audience’s attention: “Kitne khoon kiye, yaad nahi. Achhe log the yaa bure, kabhi pucha nahi. Bas unki aankhon mein ehsaas dekha ki ye unki aakhri saas hain. Aur mein uski wajah.”

‘King’ is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. (ANI)

Pankaj Tripathi’s Maiden Theatre Production ‘Lailaaj’ Selected For 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav

Pankaj Tripathi and his wife Mridula’s maiden theatre production Lailaaj, a musical comedy play under their banner Roopkatha Rangmanch, has been selected to be showcased at Bharat Rang Mahotsav, hosted by the National School of Drama (NSD), Delhi.

Written and directed by Faiz Mohammed Khan, the play features the stage debut of Pankaj and Mridula’s daughter Aashi, read a press note.

Expressing his emotions about Lailaaj being part of Bharat Rang Mahotsav, Pankaj Tripathi said, “Bharat Rang Mahotsav holds a very special place in the world of Indian theatre, and to have Lailaaj selected for its 25th edition is truly humbling. Theatre is where my roots lie, and NSD has always represented discipline, honesty, and deep respect for the craft. To bring our very first production under Roopkatha Rangmanch to a platform like this feels like a full-circle moment. Lailaaj is a simple, musical, and heartfelt story, but behind it is the hard work of many people who believe in theatre as a living, breathing art form. Sharing this stage with my daughter Aashi adds an emotional layer that I will always cherish. I see this not just as a performance, but as an offering to the theatre community that shaped me.”

Mridula Tripathi, co-producer of the play, also shared her thoughts on the achievement, “When we started Roopkatha Rangmanch, the intention was never to chase scale or recognition, but to tell stories with sincerity and warmth. For Lailaaj to be selected for Bharat Rang Mahotsav, especially in its 25th year, feels incredibly validating. This play has been nurtured with love, patience, and belief in the process. Watching it travel to a platform like NSD, where some of the finest theatre work is celebrated, makes the journey even more meaningful. Seeing Aashi take her first steps on stage within this environment is deeply emotional for us as parents. We are grateful to the festival, the audience, and every artist who believes that theatre still has the power to move, heal, and connect.” (ANI)

Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Begins Second Phase Of Seed Dispersal In Trikuta Hills

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) began the winter plantation drive and the second phase of aerial seed dispersal at the Trikuta Hills on Thursday.

A demonstration exercise was held at SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital in Kakryal. The seed-dispersal activity shall be carried out during the week, taking advantage of favourable weather conditions to improve seed germination and achieve better ecological outcomes.

It may be recalled that the Shrine Board has formulated an aerial seeding plan to improve green cover in the inaccessible areas of the Trikuta Hills over the next ten years.

According to the release, the programme achieved an estimated 3% ecological regeneration success rate, which is considered meaningful given the region’s challenging terrain. Despite steep slopes, rocky surfaces, and uneven soil depth, some of the dispersed seeds germinated, resulting in early vegetation growth that improved soil stability and green cover.

The experience also provided useful insights about suitable plant species, which are now being used to make the current phase more effective.

The existing phase aims to cover approximately 83 hectares across identified locations, including Banj Nallah, Khari Extension, and parts of Barkli, Koura Sumb, Kalal, Banjala and Matali Dabbar, located on the right side of the Shrine Board’s Serli Helipad.

The activity involved the aerial dispersal of seeds of various species like Amla, Anaar, Siris, Karangal, Thuja, Gulmohar and Bamboo, etc., to enhance green cover and support ecological restoration in these hilly and environmentally sensitive areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, said that, under the directions of SMVDSB Chairman Manoj Sinha, the Shrine Board has made significant progress in increasing the green cover in the Shrine area.

He highlighted that, through the Annual Greening Plans (AGPs), more than 19 lakh saplings have been planted in recent years to preserve the sacred region’s natural beauty and ecological balance.

He further affirmed that the aerial-based afforestation drive complements several other environmentally responsible initiatives undertaken by the Shrine Board, including the adoption of solar energy, scientific waste management through a ban on single-use plastic and segregation of waste at source, as well as water conservation measures across the Shrine complex and adjoining areas. 100-m ‘Make in India’ Steel Bridge Completed In Ahmedabad For Bullet Train Project

A 100 m long steel bridge has been successfully completed over the underground metro tunnel in the Ahmedabad district for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project. This marks the 13th steel bridge completed in Gujarat, out of the 17 planned for the project in the state.

In the Ahmedabad district, the Bullet Train viaduct is being built using span-by-span structures with spans ranging from 30 to 50 metres. However, at this location, the alignment passes over the underground metro tunnel connecting the Kalupur and Shahpur metro stations.

As per the release, to ensure that no load from the Bullet Train structure is transferred to the metro tunnel, the foundations were kept well away from the tunnel. This required increasing the span length to about 100 metres. As a result, the superstructure configuration at this stretch was redesigned from an SBS viaduct to a Steel Truss Bridge, ensuring structural safety for both the Bullet Train corridor and the metro infrastructure.

The release stated that the bridge was assembled at a height of 16.5 m above ground on temporary trestles at the site. After assembly was completed, the temporary supports were carefully dismantled, and the bridge was lowered and placed precisely on the permanent support system to ensure safety and structural accuracy.

Weighing 1098 metric tons, the steel bridge is located parallel to the Ahmedabad Sabarmati main line of Western Railways. The structure measures 14 meters in height and 15.5 meters in width. It was fabricated in a workshop in Wardha, Maharashtra, and then transported to the site by trailers.

To facilitate assembly of the main structure, a temporary platform measuring 11.5 x 100 meters was constructed on site. The bridge is constructed with approximately 45,186 Tor-Shear Type High Strength (TTHS) bolts, coated with the C5 system protective paint, and equipped with elastomeric bearings for enhanced durability. Delhi HC Seeks MCD Reply On Contempt Plea Over Illegal Saughter At Ghazipur Murga Mandi

The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and other civic authorities to file their replies within two weeks on a contempt petition alleging non-compliance with its 2018 directions banning the slaughter of birds at Ghazipur Murga Mandi.

The Court cautioned that contempt proceedings would follow if the responses were found unsatisfactory.

The Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia examined photographs placed on record and questioned whether its September 24, 2018 order prohibiting bird slaughter in the area was being openly violated. “Please ensure that this is done. This is horrifying,” the Bench orally observed.

The Court was hearing a contempt plea filed by animal welfare activist Gauri Maulekhi, who alleged that illegal slaughtering of chicken and other birds continued unabated despite the Court’s earlier ban.

During the hearing, Maulekhi submitted photographs to demonstrate that the directions issued by the Court were being flouted on the ground.

Appearing for the civic body, Advocate Tushar Sannu submitted that the MCD had taken action against erring establishments and assured the Court that strict steps would be initiated against any slaughterhouse operating without a licence or in violation of licence conditions.

After briefly hearing the matter, the Bench directed all respondents to place on record a detailed affidavit within two weeks, specifying the steps taken to ensure compliance with the 2018 order.

In its September 24, 2018 ruling, the High Court had taken serious note of large-scale environmental violations at the Ghazipur Murga Mandi and the failure of statutory authorities to enforce pollution control norms. It had categorically prohibited slaughtering of birds in the area, permitting only the sale of live birds until a legally compliant and environmentally sound market was established. (ANI)

Bengaluru Advocate Calls Out Ranveer Over Kantara Remarks

Advocate Prashanth Methal, who filed a formal complaint against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, over “allegedly performed acts that insulted and mocked the sacred Daiva tradition,” has shared his strong disapproval of the actor’s actions.

Speaking to ANI, Methal recounted the series of events that led to the FIR against Ranveer Singh.

“On November 28, 2025, during the International Film Festival held in Goa, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh mocked the Kantara Chapter 1 movie, Guliga Daiva, and also verbally referred to Goddess Chamundi as a female ghost, which not only wounded my religious sentiments but also wounded the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus… On December 3, 2025, I went to High Grounds Police Station and filed a complaint against him. High Grounds Police did not register an FIR. Subsequently, I filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Division, and the Commissioner of Police, Bangalore City, requesting directions to register an FIR. But it all went in vain. So finally, after exhausting all options, I filed my complaint in a competent court under section 223, as a private complaint,” he shared.

Methal explained that the complaint includes punishable offences under sections 196, 299, and 302 of BNS.

“It’s a cognizable and punishable offence, with up to 3 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both. On January 28, 2026, the court ordered an investigation under section 175, clause 3, and issued a direction to the High Grounds Police Inspector. Under Section 175 (3), the police are legally bound to register an FIR before commencing the investigation,” he continued, further revealing that the High Ground Police has issued a notice to the actor after the FIR.

In his complaint, Prashanth Methal asserted that Ranveer Singh “allegedly performed acts that insulted and mocked the sacred Daiva tradition. Referring to the deity as a ghost is described as blasphemous and a serious insult to Hindu religious beliefs and practices.”

The row stems from the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa last year, where Ranveer Singh was seen praising Rishab Shetty for his performance in ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ and imitating his character.

“I saw that in the theatres, Rishab, it was an outstanding performance, especially when the female ghost gets inside your body, that one shot…” the actor said at the film festival.

As videos went viral from the event, many social media users found the act disrespectful and insensitive, prompting an apology from the ‘Dhurandhar’ actor. (ANI)
