Would Love To Have China, Russia On Board Of Peace: Trump

As US President Donald Trump held an inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace, he expressed his desire to have China and Russia on the board.

Interacting with the reporters, Trump said, “A lot of countries are going through the process of getting on the board… I would love to have China and Russia on the board; they have been invited.”

Both Russia and China have received the invitation from Trump, but have not announced any decision about joining the board.

During his address at the Board of Peace meeting, Trump flaunted his “good relations” with Chinese President XI Jinping

“I have a very good relationship with President Xi. I’m going to China in April. That’s going to be a wild one. Last time I went to China, President Xi treated me so well,” he said.

” He gave me a display. I never saw so many soldiers all the same height, exactly the same height. I said, if they put their helmets down, you could have played pool on the top of their heads. And it was pretty amazing,” he added.

Trump also said that the newly formed “Board of Peace” would “almost be looking over” the United Nations to ensure it functions effectively.

“The Board of Peace is going to be looking over the United Nations and making sure it runs properly,” Trump said during the meeting, adding that the US would help improve the UN’s facilities and financial stability.

“We’re going to make sure its facilities are good. They need help, and they need help money-wise. We’re going to help them money-wise, and we’re going to make sure the United Nations is viable,” he stated.

During the meeting, Trump announced that the United States would contribute USD 10 billion to the Board of Peace to support its mission of resolving global conflicts and said the board would initially focus on reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip.

The Board of Peace, according to Trump, is aimed at strengthening international conflict resolution mechanisms and enhancing cooperation to address global crises.

Delegations from more than 40 countries participated in the meeting, but key United Nations Security Council members, including France, Britain, Russia, and China, did not join. While the European Union has opted not to take a seat on the board, as reported by Al Jazeera.

India has also been invited to the board but has not announced its decision.

President Trump first proposed the Board of Peace in September as part of a second phase of the US-brokered 20-point Gaza ceasefire plan.

The Board will oversee a “founding Executive Board”, which comprises Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US special envoy Steve Witkoff, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, as reported by CNN. (ANI)

Taking to his social media account on Thursday, Yadav wrote a message in Hindi to thank his fans and well-wishers. “Aap sabbhi ke pyaar aur saath ke liye dil se dhanyawaad (Heartfelt thanks to all of you for your love and support),” wrote the actor in his Instagram post.

Soon after the post was shared, fans reacted in large numbers, sending their warm messages in the comment section. One fan wrote, “You are a gem of our generation.” Another comment read, “Only good happens with a good person.” A user also wrote, “Good to have you back, sir.”

Rajpal Yadav also spoke to ANI shortly after his release, where he shared his thoughts on his three-decade-long journey in Indian cinema and thanked his supporters across the country.

“I got the privilege of coming out, and regarding the matter which is in the honourable High Court, for any legal questions that arise, the one who will give proper facts and truth-filled answers is our lawyer, Mr. Bhaskar Upadhyay. I have given him the responsibility to stay in proper touch regarding this,” he said.

Earlier this week, the Delhi High Court granted an interim suspension of Rajpal Yadav’s sentence until March 18. The bench of Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma, while passing the order, directed Yadav to furnish a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh along with one surety of the same amount. The court noted that Rs 1.5 crore has been deposited in the respondent’s bank account while considering the relief.

Yadav’s post and public statements mark his first interaction with fans and the media following his release, highlighting both his gratitude and continued engagement with the legal process. (ANI)

“When ‘Lalla’ first came out as part of the anthem, people instantly connected with its energy. But as a full track, it goes deeper, and what stood out to me was its controlled intensity. It carries the spirit of standing your ground and owning your space,” Dadlani said in a statement, as per a press note.

“While recording it, I wanted my voice to match the grit, strength, and resolve that Anil sir brings to the screen. The song holds that same conviction, it’s as much about inner power as it is about dominance,” he added.

The Law Must Take Its Course: King Charles III On Arrest Of His Brother

UK’s King Charles III on Thursday issued a solemn statement after the arrest of his younger brother and former Prince, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, saying “the law must take its course” and affirming full support for the legal process as the UK police investigate alleged misconduct in public office amid investigations on Andrew’s connection with the late convicted sex offender and trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

In an official statement, the British monarch said he had learned of the arrest with “the deepest concern” and stressed that Andrew’s case must now be examined through a “full, fair and proper process” by the appropriate authorities.

Charles reiterated that Buckingham Palace would provide “full and wholehearted support and co-operation” with investigators.

The statement further added that it would not be appropriate to comment further as the legal proceedings continue and that he and his family will maintain their duties and service to the public.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation,” the statement read.

“Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all,” it added.

Earlier, Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, CNN reported, citing the police.

According to a statement issued by Thames Valley Police, a man in his sixties from Norfolk was arrested on February 19 as part of an ongoing investigation.

Police said searches were being carried out at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. The suspect remains in custody.

“We will not be naming the arrested man, as per national guidance. Please also remember that this case is now active so care should be taken with any publication to avoid being in contempt of court,” the force said in a statement.

According to CNN, police arrived early Thursday at Sandringham, the private Norfolk estate of King Charles III, where Andrew had recently moved after vacating his long-time residence at Windsor.

The Sandringham estate falls under the jurisdiction of Norfolk Constabulary, which confirmed it is supporting the Thames Valley Police investigation.

Police had earlier said they were reviewing allegations that a woman was trafficked to the UK by Epstein to have a sexual encounter with Andrew, CNN reported.

Authorities were also examining claims that Andrew shared sensitive information with Epstein while serving as the UK’s trade envoy.

Andrew has previously denied all allegations, stating that he never witnessed or suspected any of Epstein’s criminal activities and has not commented on the latest allegations relating to misconduct in public office, as reported by CNN.

The arrest comes months after King Charles III stripped Andrew of his title as prince in October, amid renewed scrutiny following the release of additional Epstein-related documents by the US Department of Justice.

The King also initiated proceedings to remove Andrew from his residence at Windsor, where he had lived since 2003.

Reports earlier this month indicated that Andrew had relocated to Norfolk after the holiday season and was to be provided accommodation on the King’s private Sandringham estate, along with financial support, CNN reported. (ANI)

Surrendered Maoist Leader Appeals To Cadres To Lay Down Arms

Former CPI (Maoist) leader Mallojula Venugopal Rao alias Sonu Bhupathi on Thursday appealed to Maoist cadres still operating in the jungles to lay down arms and surrender.

He stated that the time has come for those involved in armed struggle to return to the mainstream and work among the people.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with ANI on Thursday, Sonu, who surrendered on October 15, 2025, along with 60 People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) fighters, said changing ground realities have made continued armed struggle impractical and urged remaining cadres to follow the same path.

In a landmark development last year, the 69-year-old former PLGA central military commission chief, carrying a bounty of Rs 60 lakh, had trekked nearly 25 kilometres from his Maoist encampment to the designated surrender point.

His second-in-command, Prabhakaran, was initially part of the surrender contingent but reportedly disappeared into the forests along with four women guerrillas during the final stretch of the journey. Bhupathi’s surrender marked the end of a 35-year journey as a Maoist outlaw, during which he exercised significant influence over the outfit’s military stronghold in Abujmarh, Chhattisgarh.

Officials described the surrender as a turning point in counter-insurgency operations and said rehabilitation and reintegration measures would be extended to surrendered cadres.

Reflecting on his decision, Sonu said, “This was not a one-day decision. I had been observing the party’s functioning for years and thinking about the mistakes we made.” He explained that ideological differences began surfacing for him around 2003 while he was part of the leadership structure.

“I served as a Central Committee member for 28 years and a PB Politburo member for 18 years. I repeatedly raised my views, but the organisation failed to change direction,” he said.

Admitting strategic failures, Sonu said the Maoist movement misread both the Indian state and its own capabilities.

“There is a principle, know your enemy and know yourself. We failed on both counts,” he said, adding that the organisation overestimated its armed strength and underestimated the Indian state. According to him, this miscalculation weakened the movement over time and pushed it towards decline.

He said the biggest mistake was the inability to build mass support. “People support struggles based on their own issues, but we focused mainly on weapons,” he added.

Sonu admitted that the idea of creating permanent revolutionary base areas in India remained unrealistic and that the movement gradually shrank from activity across several states to limited areas in Dandakaranya.

“We were speaking one thing while conditions on the ground were different,” he said. Sonu also acknowledged that opposing certain welfare measures had damaged the movement’s credibility among tribal communities.

“The PESA law and Forest Rights Act started helping people in places like Gadchiroli, but we opposed these schemes. That was a wrong approach,” he said.

He described Gram Sabha-led governance initiatives in Maharashtra as a lifeline for Adivasis and said such changes reduced support for armed rebellion.

Speaking about the period before surrender, Sonu said he held discussions with fellow cadres, and many chose to leave with him.

“Hundreds came out with us. Those who initially opposed later realised conditions had changed,” he said, adding that several cadres from Telangana also left the movement. He claimed that after the 2021 encounters, no general secretary was officially appointed within CPI (Maoist).

“Media created that narrative, but till today there is no general secretary,” he said.

He further revealed that demonetisation had dealt a major financial blow to Maoist networks. “We suffered huge losses because large amounts of money could not be exchanged. Some funds were never returned,” he said, adding that he personally handled around Rs 20 crore at one point.

He also acknowledged that weapons were largely obtained through raids carried out by the PLGA on police camps and stations.

Explaining why he chose Gadchiroli for surrender, Sonu said he had worked extensively in Maharashtra under the name Bhupathi and had witnessed development changes in the region. “I learned from Gadchiroli and saw development there. That influenced my decision,” he said.

He added that appeals from the government encouraging Maoists to return to mainstream life also contributed to the collective decision taken by his group.

Now living outside the jungle after decades underground, Sonu reiterated his appeal to those still active in the insurgency. “Conditions have changed. Armed struggle cannot continue in today’s situation. They should temporarily lay down arms and work among the people,” he said.

He stressed that movements must adapt to changing realities and added, “We cannot remain trapped in dogma.”

Sonu said he intends to remain in Maharashtra and work within constitutional limits.

“It is because of the Constitution that we came out. We will work according to it and raise people’s issues,” he said, adding that movement and politics are interconnected and that he now wants to continue his work through democratic means. (ANI)

So What is This Damned ‘Korean Addiction’?

A heart breaking tragedy?

Three adolescent sisters, who had dropped out of school, jumped to their death from their apartment in Ghaziabad near Delhi recently. Totally isolated and alone for a long spell of their innocent life, they were apparently hooked to a Korean game in virtual reality since very long. Once the phone was abruptly taken away from them by their parents, they chose to die together once the family had gone to sleep. The three sisters were Nishika, 16, Prachi, 14, and Pakhi, 12.

Investigations have stated that the sisters loved Korean culture, and called themselves using Korean names (Maria, Aliza, and Cindy). They said they “felt” Korean, not Indian. A little diary of scriblings, just about eight page, and writings on their wall told a story: they wanted to escape to South Korea. One note said: “You tried to distance us from Koreans, but now you know how much we love Koreans”.

The tragedy lingers in our subconscious like slow, simmering sadness. A harsh reminder that between some adolescents of Gen Z, and the elders, all meaningful communication seems to have broken down.

Can this obsessive relationship with the digital become so diabolical and dangerous?

Can the virtual world be an authentic, tangible alternative to the real world of human bonding, love, understanding, compassion and care?

Why should the young choose to die when their entire life is still open like twinkling buds budding into sublime flowers, when their dreams have just begun to fly on the wings of fantasy, wonder and imagination, when, for them, the soft, soothing blue of the expanse yonder is the limit?

The Korean obsession! Is it a myth or an obsessive, repetitive, addictive reality, like a daily narcotic?

Is it a passing fad driven by hormones going berserk, with certain eclectic minds unable to grapple with the complex and harsh realities of life?

Plus, the insatiable craving to communicate, to be understood, even if it be an impersonal connect with a fluid, transitory, virtual reality? If some of them choose to sink in this virtual quagmire, is there no way out?

Is it all bad out there? Really?

As digital investigator and cyber security trainer. Aayushi Rana told this reporter in an interview ‘Ghaziabad Triple Suicide Resulted From Isolation, Not Korean Craze’: “However, the real issue here is alienation, not the content. These girls were withdrawn from school post-COVID apparently due to financial hardship, isolated and confined to their home, and living with parents who seem to be overwhelmed by their own hardships…

“The digital world didn’t create their vulnerability; it merely filled a void left by the breakdown of their support systems. When children lose access to school, peer relationships and parental emotional availability, simultaneously, they will seek connection and meaning elsewhere. The digital sphere offers a comforting refuge.”

She is, of course, right. However, it’s time we deconstruct this myth of the Korean addiction, and that all that is digital is suicidal, or addictive.

South Korean K Pop, for instance, is popular with youngsters all over the world, including in India. However, do we know that K Pop artists, mostly young, can be conscientious and creative, or that they can be socially and politically engaged, thereby breaking the boundaries of rapid, seamless entertainment.

Young Jae Park, one of the most popular K Pop artists globally, took everyone by surprise when he chanted “Free Palestine” in a packed concert in Indonesia. His chant echoed through the K Pop fandom across the world, even while social media groups joined him in chorus.

Famous K Pop artist and now a soloist, young Bebe Yana, joined the world-wide boycott against Israel, No Music for Genocide. She blocked all her music from being streamed in Israel, steadfast against the on-going genocide.

She was hailed by thousands of her fans in Korea, who thronged the streets of Seoul against the mass murder in Gaza. South Korean youngsters were among the tens of thousands in the West who relentless protested against the killings, and most of them were led by young women.

Social media was flooded with these images – how come this kind of Korean addiction does not enter the consciousness of Gen Z?

If they love K Pop, then, surely, they can hear Jae Park shout “Free Palestine” in this live concert? Surely, they can hear the music floating in the global campaign, including Bebe Yana’s songs – No Music for Genocide.

All fandoms are not fads, especially those involving sensitive, open-ended, intelligent, teenagers. In many instances in the contemporary era, when, mostly the young and students have joined in thousands on the streets in the West against the genocide in Gaza, the young have mobilised mass protests, often using music, poetry, street art, and other forms of peaceful protest.

On the night of October 7, 2025, for instance, on the second anniversary of the genocide, in a symbolic action around 70 South Koreans gathered at the Jongno District in Seoul outside the embassy of Israel. Why?

To watch The Night Won’t End, an Al Jazeera documentary on Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old Palestinian girl trapped in a ravaged car with her dead relatives, surrounded by armoured vehicles and tanks, calling for help from a helpline. She told the woman on the line, “I am so scared. Come and take me.”

As many as 355 rounds of bullets were pumped into her little body. Her memory is now etched in cinema, documentaries, poetry, ground reports, and in classrooms and campuses. The first buildings captured in ‘occupied campuses’ in America, like that in the University of Columbia, was named after Hind Rajab.

The acclaimed film made on her last minutes, The Voice of Hind Rajab, produced by big names in Hollywood, got the biggest standing ovation in its history at its premier in the prestigious Venice Film Festival. Indeed, it is now lined up for an Academy Award.

Even as thousands of children have been especially targeted and slaughtered in Gaza, along with their mothers and sisters, the memory of this little girl has become a simmering wound in the consciousness of the world. As it was with them on vigil in Seoul on that night outside the Israeli embassy, as they remembered her last words in solidarity and mourning.

Reports Hankyoreh (‘We are Gaza’, October 27, 2025) “When the night falls, it feels endless. You even stay up all night, wondering, ‘Will the morning arrive?’ The night is long. The night is terrifying. The night means fear. The night means remembering Hind…”

“Despite the spattering of light rain, no one was using an umbrella. Their eyes fixed on the large screen in front of them, the crowd of people gathered in Seoul hunched over to ensure that everyone had a clear view, as a documentary featuring a family relaying their experience of the gruesome genocide in Gaza played on the screen…”
Surely, this kind of Korean addiction can also unravel the humane, the compassionate, inside the mind and soul of the young – in angst and anger!

“I became aware of this prolonged history of ethnic cleansing a mere two years ago. Knowing that so many Palestinians are killed every single day made me guilty for leading such an easy, uneventful life,” said a vigil-goer, Black.

“During the rally marking the first anniversary of this war, I took part in an event in which we wrote out the names of children who starved to death. As we reach the second anniversary, I cannot help but think of them. I want to tell you the names that still stay with me: Maryam Wissam Al-Sharawi, born in 2023, and Tawfiq Asaad Tawfiq Laqaan, born in 2024,” Black said.

“I learned that Palestinian farmers had to go through the difficulty of passing through checkpoints just to harvest their olives. I started to ask, ‘Why are these people deprived of the normalcy of life the rest of us enjoy?’ Although it may not be much, I thought that having one more person join the rally would be helpful, in some way,” shared an education activist who introduced herself as SangD. She had come to the rally from Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, south of Seoul.

Indeed, the ‘myth and reality’ of the Korean addiction is fake. It’s the cruelty of life, and its alienation, longing and despair, which turn the virtual into a parallel, alternative universe.

Indeed, all that is parallel is created by the real and tangible. This is because life is not out there. Life is here.
