Dr Shilpa Sharma, a Paediatric surgeon in AIIMS Delhi has said that the people who recovered from Covid are facing low immunity which has increased viral infections, skin allergies, cholecystitis, appendicitis etc.

“After Covid and its vaccination, the immunity has decreased due to which there is an increase in incidence of viral infection, common cold which is lasting more than the duration of 3-4 days. As a surgeon the most common conditions that are increased are appendicitis, cholecystitis and inflammatory conditions are increased so there are more allergies now like artecaria,” she said.

Dr Shilpa further said that cases of clot formation have also increased due to dehydration.

“The cases of clot formation are also increased due to dehydration, you have heard of sudden heart attacks in the gym etc,” she added,

Dr Shilpa also explained about the importance of folic acid in pregnancy and said, “It’s very important in the development of the embryo. Mother has to take the folic acid at least three months before conception. If a mother has already given birth to a child with a congenital disorder than before the conception for second child mother should start folic acid and wait for two years. It’s also important that father should also have taken folic acid.”

On the incidence of congenital disorders in newborns of those mothers who aren’t taking folic acid she said that it’s very common that if a mother doesn’t take folic acid then their chances of congenital disorders in their newborn.

“The government is giving free folic acid but they aren’t taking it and throwing it away because of the taste or because they believe that medicine isn’t going to help them,” Dr Shilpa said. (ANI)

The revered Shri Gangotri Dham in Uttarakhand is set to open its doors to devotees on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on Friday, May 10, at precisely 12:25 pm local time.

The announcement, made by the Shri Panch Gangotri Temple Committee, marks the beginning of the pilgrimage season for thousands of devotees who flock to this sacred site each year.

The decision regarding the auspicious timing of the Kapatodwan ceremony, held at the winter residence Mukhwa (Mukhimath), was finalized today by the temple committee, ensuring that the rituals align with traditional customs and practices.

Following closely, the doors of the renowned Shri Badrinath Dham are scheduled to open on Sunday, May 12, at 6 am, while devotees can embark on their spiritual journey to Shri Kedarnath Dham from May 10 onwards, with the doors opening at 7 am.

Notably, the opening dates for the doors of Yamunotri Dham, also set for May 10, are yet to be finalized by the Yamunotri Temple Committee.

Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee disclosed that the dates for the opening of the doors of the second Kedar, Madmaheshwar Ji, and the third Kedar, Shri Tungnath Ji, will be deliberated upon on Saturday, April 13 coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi.

A sea of devotees, every year embark on the ‘Chota Char Dham’ Yatra, the ‘four abodes’ which is a set of four important pilgrimage sites revered by the Hindus.

The Chota Char dham circuit consists of four sites–Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath-nestled up in the Himalyas.

The Kedarnath temple is one of the most revered temples in the country dedicated to Lord Shiva and people from across the country visit the temple during the six months when the temple is open.

This year, the doors of the temple were closed on November 15 amidst the devotional sounds of the Indian Army Band, which was witnessed by two thousand five hundred pilgrims. (ANI)

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Central government has provided prestigious ‘Z’ category Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) security cover to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar across the country, sources said on Tuesday.

Kumar’s security was increased due to international threats, they added.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) made the decision following recent threat assessments from the Intelligence Bureau. The CRPF commandos would soon take over his security.

The extended security cover will be provided to him during his journey across the country, round the clock and at the time of his stay in Delhi and at his office. Over three dozen armed CRPF commandos will be guarding Kumar.

As the custodian of free and fair elections, Rajiv Kumar faced numerous challenges and adversaries as the general elections are set to be conducted between April 19 and June 1.

The MHA took the decision to extend Kumar ‘Z’ category security cover across the country, considering his visit at a time when model code of conduct is in place and he might be travelling all along entire country as per the needs. However, his commitment to ensuring the sanctity of the electoral process remained steadfast. His tireless efforts to safeguard the democratic rights of the citizens earned him both admiration and envy in equal measure.

Amidst the complexities of his role, Kumar’s safety became a matter of paramount importance. Recognising the inherent risks associated with his position, the MHA took the decisive move. (ANI)

Chinese leader Xi Jinping met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Beijing on Tuesday, Xinhua reported.

Details of the meeting were not immediately disclosed by state media.

Lavrov is on a two-day visit to the Chinese capital, which follows Russian President Vladimir Putin’s suggestion last month of considering China for his maiden overseas trip after his election victory last month, CNN reported.

This encounter marks the first face-to-face discussion between Lavrov and Xi in six years, a significant event given that heads of state typically do not meet visiting ministers directly. Their last meeting in 2018 occurred just before Putin’s inaugural visit to China following his re-election.

Since then, China and Russia have intensified their economic, trade, and diplomatic collaborations, particularly in the aftermath of Putin’s war in Ukraine.

Despite Beijing claiming neutrality in the conflict, it has emerged as a crucial economic partner for Russia, providing vital support to its isolated economy. The two nations have also aligned diplomatically against perceived Western containment efforts

Putin, considering his first overseas trip of his new term, hinted at the possibility of visiting China in response to a Russian lawmaker’s suggestion. However, the Kremlin has yet to confirm any travel plans.

Putin’s last visit to Beijing occurred in October during the Belt and Road Forum, while Xi visited Moscow for a state visit in last March, according to CNN.

Earlier today, Lavrov also met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Following their meeting, Wang highlighted the countries’ ties as being elevated to “the highest level in history,” and alluded to their shared views on the United States by saying they would “oppose a Cold War mentality,” according to comments made during a joint news conference following their meeting, cited by Chinese state media.

Discussions between Lavrov and Wang touched upon the conflict in Ukraine, with both sides concurring that international meetings on the matter that disregard Moscow’s interests are futile, according to reports from Russian state news agency TASS.

Wang told his counterpart that China supports holding an international peace conference “recognized by both Russia and Ukraine,” with “equal participation by all parties and where all peace plans are discussed fairly,” according to a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

These statements come amidst ongoing deliberations on resolving the Ukrainian conflict. Previous peace conferences, largely supported by Kyiv and excluding Moscow, have failed to garner significant traction. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s peace proposal, advocates for the complete withdrawal of Russian troops.

While China has engaged in dialogue with Switzerland regarding an upcoming peace conference, it has reiterated the necessity for such talks to be acknowledged by both Ukraine and Russia, CNN reported. (ANI)

Pakistan has issued 2,843 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India, allowing them to participate in the annual Baisakhi festival scheduled to take place in Pakistan from April 13 to April 22.

The announcement was made by the Pakistan High Commission in India through a post on social media platform X.

Baisakhi, also known as Vaisakhi, holds immense cultural and religious importance for the Sikh community, marking the harvest festival and commemorating the establishment of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699.

Every year, thousands of Sikh pilgrims from across the globe gather in Pakistan to celebrate Baisakhi at historical Sikh shrines, including Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal and Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore.

“On the occasion of Baisakhi celebrations, @PakinIndia has issued 2843 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India to participate in the annual festival scheduled to be held in Pakistan from 13-22 April 2024,” said Pakistan High Commission in India in a post on X.

In November, last year, the Pakistan High Commission issued around 3,000 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India to attend the event celebrating the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

The issuance of visas is covered under the framework of the Pakistan-India Protocol on visits to Religious Shrines of 1974, according to the Pakistan High Commission in a New Delhi press release.

Taking to X, the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi stated, “On the occasion of the 554th Birthday Celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi issued around 3000 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India to attend the event scheduled to be held in Pakistan from 25 November to 04 December 2023.”

“During the visit, the pilgrims, inter alia, would go to Dera Sahib, Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib. Expressing his views on the occasion, Charge d’Affaires, Mr Aizaz Khan, extended his heartfelt felicitations to the pilgrims and wished them a safe journey,” it added. (ANI)

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, said on Tuesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are most scared of Bihar.

Notably, PM Modi is likely to visit Bihar on April 16 for an election campaign for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Responding to this, Tejashwi said, “During elections, everyone comes; let him (PM Modi) come. In this kind of situation, even if the PM comes 365 days, their defeat is certain. BJP leaders and PM Modi are most scared of Bihar; they will put all their energy and have kept their investigative agencies here only. Let Union Home Minister, PM Modi come, but I request them with folded hands to speak on topics of farmers, special status to Bihar, jobs; will industries be set up in Bihar or not?” he said.

“They come to elections and make big promises but everything goes to Gujarat,” he added.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address his first election rally in Bihar at Gaya district under the Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat on Wednesday in favour of BJP candidate Sushil Kumar Singh and NDA allies Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) candidate Jitan Ram Majhi.

Sushil Kumar Singh is a BJP candidate from the Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat, and former Chief Minister of Bihar and HAM candidate Jitan Ram Majhi is contesting the Lok Sabha election from the Gaya reserve seat as an NDA candidate.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD (U), and LJP, dominated the 2019 elections by winning 39 out of 40 seats.

In the first phase, voting is to be held in 4 seats of Bihar on April 19. Those 4 Lok Sabha seats are Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada and Jamui.

Bihar will see polling in seven phases. The first phase of polling will be held on April 19, the second phase on April 26, the third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, the fifth phase on May 20, the sixth phase on May 25, and the seventh phase on June 1.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will move to the Supreme Court against the decision of the Delhi High Court dismissing the plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the Excise Policy money laundering case, sources said on Tuesday.

According to sources, the Aam Aadmi Party does not agree with the decision of the Delhi High Court.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the excise policy case and said that Kejriwal’s arrest is not in contravention of Law and remand can’t be termed “illegal”.

The bench of Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma said, ED was in possession of enough material, which led them to arrest Kejriwal. The non-joining of the investigation by Kejriwal and, delay caused by him were also impacting those in judicial custody.

The material collected by the Enforcement Directorate reveals that Arvind Kejriwal conspired and was actively involved in the use and concealment of proceeds of crime. The ED case also reveals that he was involved in his personal capacity as well as the convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party.

The court further stated that this court is of the opinion that the accused has been arrested and his arrest and remand have to be examined as per law and not as per the timing of elections. Kejriwal’s challenge to the timing of arrest before General elections in the absence of any mala fide on the part of ED is not sustainable, said the court.

Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate in relation to the excise policy case.

The trial court sent Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15, 2024. ED alleged that the Aam Adami Party (AAP) is the major beneficiary of the proceeds of crime generated in the alleged liquor scam.

The agency also claimed that Kejriwal was directly involved in the formation of the excise policy. The case pertains to alleged irregularities and money laundering in framing and implementing the Delhi Excise Policy 2022, which was later scrapped. (ANI)
