Cong Against National Security, Development: Modi In Himachal

Stepping into the BJP’s election campaign in poll-bound Himachal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday attacked the Congress party and stated that the party has not only been “against national security” but also the development of the country.

Addressing the first election rally in Himachal’s Mandi, the Prime Minister raised the issue of defence deals during the Congress regime at the Centre and said that the party always “wanted a commission” in every deal which led to the delay in the procurement of weapons for the armed forces.
“After independence, the first scam of the country was done by the Congress in the defence sector itself. Since then, till the Congress government was in place, it took a lot of brokerage in defence deals. Congress never wanted the country to become self-reliant in terms of defence equipment. It wanted a commission in every defence deal and wanted to fill its own leaders’ treasure. This is why the procurement of weapons was delayed,” PM Modi said.

He said that India is running a campaign to become Aatmanirbhar.

“Congress put numerous lives in danger due to compromised defence deals. I won’t let this injustice happen to the mothers and daughters of Himachal. This is why India is running a campaign to become Aatmanirbhar and stressing on manufacturing its own weapons. Congress has not just been against national security, but also the development of the country. I have felt it as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for a number of years,” the Prime Minister said.

He said that making “false promises” and giving “false guarantees” has been an old trick of Congress while accusing the party of not giving priority to the development of Himachal.

“Congress never gave priority to the development of Himachal. Congress did not fulfil a single promise they mentioned in the 2012 elections manifesto. BJP has fulfilled its promises made to the people. BJP had resolved to scrap Article 370 from J-K, and we fulfilled it. The BJP had resolved to make Ram Mandir. The decision was taken in Palampur in the working committee. Is Ram Mandir being constructed or not?” PM Modi said.

“We gave free vaccines. If there was a Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, then vaccines would have reached Himachal Pradesh at last. You (public) voted on the right button and that’s why so much development happened,” he added.

Calling the Assembly elections which are slated to be held in the state on November 12 “important”, the Prime Minister said that the vote cast in this poll will decide the “development journey of the state for the next 25 years.

“This time the elections are very important, because the vote that you will cast on November 12 will not only be for the next five years, but every single vote decides the development journey of Himachal for the next 25 years. A stable government and fast development are necessary in the state during Amrit Kaal. People know that BJP means stability, and priority to development. People of Himachal have decided to form BJP government again,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister assured to continue working for the people of the state.

“I have been working for you for the last five years, I want to continue doing it. I promise as the son of this land that I won’t lag behind. What would happen if you bring such people who do not let the work proceed, then what would happen? No matter how much I exert pressure from Delhi, would there be a stoppage or not?” he said.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed in Sundernagar, Mandi upon his arrival here.

Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur felicitated PM Modi ahead of his public address.

The polling for the assembly elections will take place on November 12 and the counting of votes will be on December 8. (ANI)

Modi Inaugurates World Dairy Summit 2022

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS) 2022, being organised at India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida.

PM Modi also inspected an exhibition at India Expo Centre and Mart.
Union Minister Purshottam Rupala, while addressing the World Diary Summit 2022 said that it is organised after 48 years in India.

“World Diary Summit 2022 has been organized after over 48 years in India. Our milk production is 220 million tonnes today. We are in the position to export surplus milk, in line with the ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat,” he said.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the four-day-long IDF WDS 2022 being held from September 12 to 15, is a congregation of global and Indian dairy stakeholders including industry leaders, experts, farmers and policy planners centring around the theme of ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood’.

Around 1,500 participants from 50 countries are expected to participate in IDF WDS 2022. The last such Summit was held in India about half a century ago in 1974.

“The Indian dairy industry is unique in the sense that it is based on a cooperative model that empowers small and marginal dairy farmers, especially women. Driven by the vision of the Prime Minister, the government has taken multiple steps for the betterment of the dairy sector resulting in an increase of milk production by more than 44 per cent in the last eight years,” said the PMO.

“The success story of the Indian dairy industry, accounting for about 23 per cent of global milk, producing around 210 million tonnes annually, and empowering more than 8 crore dairy farmers, will be showcased at the IDF WDS 2022,” it said.

The summit will also help Indian dairy farmers to gain exposure about global best practices.

Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala, Chief Minister M Yogi Adityanath and others were present.

The evolution of the dairy sector in India and the stellar role played by dairy cooperatives since the launch of Operation Flood form an integral part of the country’s growth story as the country now is the largest producer of milk.

India contributes 21 per cent to global milk production.

It is important to note that during the 1950s and 1960s the situation of India’s dairy sector was radically different as it was a milk-deficit nation and depended more on imports.

The country produced less than 21 million tonnes of milk per annum despite having the largest cattle population in the world and the sector was struggling to survive.

The annual compound growth rate in milk production during the first decade after independence was 1.64 per cent, which declined to 1.15 per cent during the 1960s, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying said in an explainer on Wednesday.

In 1950-51, per capita consumption of milk in the country was only 124 grams per day. By 1970, this figure had dropped to 107 grams per day, one of the lowest in the world and well below the minimum recommended nutritional standards.

Over the past two decades, India’s milk production has doubled. The credit also goes to a well-known federation called ‘Amul’, which was created by 3.6 million milk producers in Gujarat. In order to improve the livelihood of the farmers, Amul also charted its journey on a similar path as ‘Operation Flood’.

Dairy as an industry employs more than 80 million rural households with the majority being small and marginal farmers as well as the landless. The cooperative societies have not only made the farmers self-sufficient but have also broken the shackles of gender, caste, religion, and community. Women producers form the major workforce of the dairy sector in the country. The sector is an important job provider, especially for women, and plays a leading role in women’s empowerment. (ANI)
