Shuttler Srikanth wins French Open: Star Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth defeated Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto in straight games to win the men’s singles title at the French Open Superseries on Sunday. Srikanth is the first male shuttler from India to qualify for the French Open final. Sunday’s victory also made him the the fourth male player in the history of the game to win four Superseries singles titles in a calendar year.

Italian PM Gentiloni on India visit: Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni has arrived on a two-day state visit, the first such visit in a decade, in a bid to boost ties between New Delhi and Rome after the prolonged faceoff over the two Italian marines who were prosecuted for the killing of two fishermen off Kerala in 2012. Romano Prodi was the last Italian Prime Minister to visit India in February 2007. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold delegation-level talks with Gentiloni on Monday.
