Mohd Shami Clinches 100th IPL Wicket In Match Against CSK

Mohammed Shami bagged his 100th wicket on Friday in the opening match of Indian Premier League 2023 season.

He achieved the feat in the match against Chennai Super Kings and Devon Conway became his 100th wicket in IPL. Conway failed to read Shami’s delivery and ended up missing the ball completely and the stumps went flying into the air.
Shami has played 94 IPL matches and his best figures are 3/15. With an economy of 8.48, Shami has managed to maintain his economy quite well as a pace bowler.

Shami’s 100th wicket also became the first wicket of IPL 2023. Ruturaj Gaikwad struck the first four and six of the 16th edition of IPL. The match is being played at the Narendra Modi stadium.

The 32-year-old pace bowler’s experience has always come in handy for GT as also the Indian team. Shami is the 19th player to achieve 100-wicket milestone in the IPL.

Chennai Super Kings Dwayne Bravo is the leading wicket-taker in IPL with 183 wickets in 161 matches and an economy of 8.38.

Mumbai Indians legend Lasith Malinga holds the second position with 170 wickets in 122 matches with an economy of 7.14. Malinga spent over a decade with MI.

The 32-year-old Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has 166 wickets in 131 matches with an economy of 7.61. (ANI)

SRK Response When A Fan Asked Him If He’ll Watch World Cup Final

Shah Rukh Khan is a cricket enthusiast and there’s no doubt about that!

He is often seen at the stadium stands cheering for either his team in IPL or blowing whistles for the Indian Cricket Team during international matches.
On Saturday, during an interaction with his fans on Twitter, SRK revealed that he would love to go and watch the match if India qualifies for the World Cup final!

A fan asked him if he would go to watch the World Cup final just like he went in 2007 when India won the T20 World Cup. SRK responded by saying, “Insha Allah. Would be so much fun to feel so proud and happy when India is doing well in sports.”

India is currently at the top of the Group 2 points table with six points. They have six points to their name and have won three matches out of four.

Men in Blue started their campaign with a four-wicket win over Pakistan in an instant-classic affair at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Following this, they won their second match against the Netherlands by 56 runs.

Their run in the tournament experienced a roadblock after a five-wicket loss to South Africa in a low-scoring match, but they redeemed it after a five-run win over Bangladesh in a rain-truncated match.

India will take on Zimbabwe in their final Group stage match in Melbourne on Sunday.

Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Arshdeep Singh are some of the stars of the Indian campaign.

Virat is the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, having scored 220 runs in four matches at an average of 220.00. Three fifties have come out of Kohli’s bat in this tournament.

Suryakumar has also scored 164 runs in four innings at an average of 54.66 with two half-centuries.

Pacer Arshdeep Singh has also taken nine wickets in the tournament so far and is among the top 10 wicket-takers in the tournament. (ANI)

Teammates Pays Tribute To Raina After His Decision To Retire From Cricket

Chennai Super Kings, the franchise for which Suresh Raina played, on Tuesday paid a touching tribute to the star batsman on his retirement saying the “streets of Anbuden” will never forget you.

Reacting to Raina’s decision to retire from all forms of cricket, Chennai Super Kings took to Twitter to thank the southpaw for his contribution to the team that is one of the most successful franchises in the Indian Premier League history.
“The streets of Anbuden will never forget what Chinna Thala meant to each and every one of us! Thank You, Mr IPL #ChinnaThalaForever #WhistlePodu #Yellove,” the Super Kings said in a tweet.

The former Indian player was an integral part of the Chenna Super Kings setup, ever since joining the team in the inaugural edition of the IPL.

He was known to be the deputy of MS Dhoni at the franchise and was fondly called ‘Chinna Thala’ by the followers and supporters of the team.

Batter Suresh Raina announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on Tuesday. Earlier on August 15, 2020, Raina announced his retirement from international cricket.

Raina was part of the 2011 World Cup-winning team under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Raina will not play for Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming domestic season.

Taking to Twitter to announce his retirement, Raina Tweeted, “It has been an absolute honor to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of Cricket. I would like to thank @BCCI, @UPCACricket, @ChennaiIPL, @ShuklaRajiv sir & all my fans for their support and unwavering faith in my abilities.”

In an international career spanning 13 years, Raina represented India in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20Is.

Raina gathered 5615 runs from 226 ODIs and 1605 from 78 T20Is for India. Raina, who scored a century on debut in Tests, is also the first Indian to score hundreds in all three formats of cricket and his centuries were scored outside India.

While playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Suresh Raina has 5528 runs to his name in 205 IPL matches with 39 half-centuries and one century at a strike rate of 136.76. (ANI)
