A eight-year-old girl was raped and brutally killed in Delhi’s Yamuna Khadar area after she saw the accused in a compromising position with her mother with whom he was in a relationship.

According to DCP Central Shweta Chauhan, “Rizwan alias Badshah, who is a butcher by profession slit her throat and mutilated her face.”

Following the incident, Delhi Police launched a big hunt to nab the accused. “All the nearby CCTV cameras were checked but no clue was found. About 200 persons living in and around the Yamuna Khadar area were interrogated to trace out the accused. On the basis of secret information, Rizwan alias Badshah was searched and overpowered. On sustained interrogation, he confessed to the commission of the crime,” added the DCP Central.

Accused Rizwan alias Badshah came to Delhi 20 years ago for work and started working as a butcher in Turkman Gate area in the capital.

He further disclosed that he is a drug addict and unmarried and he used to go to Yamuna Khadar for consuming weed.

“During the course of his visits, he developed intimacy with the mother of the victim and befriended the victim,” informed the police.

He further disclosed that the victim had seen him in a compromising position with her mother and hence he decided to kill her.

The accused Rizwan further said that on the day of the incident in the evening he reached the neighbourhood and consumed Ganja (weed) and alcohol and waited till night for all the members of the victim’s family to sleep.

When he reached the jhuggi he saw that victim sleeping inside the jhuggi with her family.

He kidnapped her and took her to a secluded place in the adjoining forest area of Yamuna Khadar and raped her. He then slit her throat and mutilated her face, said police.

“On August 22, accused Rizwan was arrested in the present case. During PC remand of accused, weapon of offence i.e. knife has been recovered. The accused Rizwan is a butcher by profession. He has four brothers and his parents live in Bihar,” added police. (ANI)

The political fight over CBI raid at Manish Sisodia’s residence last week escalated on Monday with the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister claiming that he had received a “message from BJP” that CBI and ED cases against him will be closed if he breaks AAP and the BJP accusing him and Arvind Kejriwal of being silent on questions related to Delhi’s scrapped excise policy.

The BJP attack on Aam Aadmi Party was led by Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur who said that “‘Dawa mantri’ was arrested and is in jail for the last three months and now their corrupt ‘Daru Mantri’ is first in list of accused” in the CBI FIR in the excise policy case.
Thakur referred to Kejriwal’s book ‘Swaraj’ and claimed that the AAP government had ushered a ‘sharab raj’ instead.

“In his book titled Swaraj, Kejriwal has written that the government allocates liquor contracts for collecting money without asking the citizens and without asking the women. So, today, we want to ask, whom did Kejriwal ask before allocating the liquor contracts. He wrote a book – Swaraj – but eventually brought ‘sharab raj,” Thakur alleged.

BJP also dismissed Sisodia’s and Kejriwal’s claims with party leader Gaurav Bhatia saying AAP leaders were “talking useless”.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged on Monday that he had received an offer from the Bharatiya Janata Party to split the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in what he claimed was a quid pro quo as the CBI initiated a probe into Delhi’s now withdrawn excise policy.

“My reply to the BJP is – I am a descendant of Maharana Pratap, a Rajput. I will sacrifice my head but will not bow down to the corrupt and those who conspire. All the cases against me are false. Do what you want to do,” Sisodia said in a tweet.

He claimed that BJP wanted to make him chief ministerial candidate and said Arvind Kejriwal was my “political guru”.

“Arvind Kejriwal is my political guru, I will never betray him. I did not come (to politics) to become Chief Minister. My dream is that every child in the country gets good education, only then will our country become No 1. Only Kejriwal can do this in the country,” he said in a tweet.

Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta took a jibe at Sisodia over his claims and said that he had failed to hide behind “education model and children” and has now created drama of hiding behind Maharana Pratap.

“Do not spoil the name of Maharana Pratap. His descendants do not get liquor vends opened outside schools and near temples and neither get women beaten up with their goondas,” he said in a tweet.

CBI last week conducted searches on Sisodia’s official residence and carried out raids at several places in connection with the alleged corruption in the implementation of Delhi’s Excise Policy.

Both Sisodia and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal were in poll-bound Gujarat on Monday and made several attacks on BJP over the raids.

Kejriwal strongly backed Sisodia and said he deserves a Bharat Ratna for his contribution to the education sector but was being hounded by investigative agencies.

“He (Manish Sisodia) reformed govt schools which other parties could not do in 70 years. Such a person should get Bharat Ratna. The entire country’s education system should be handed over to him, but instead, they conducted CBI raids on him,” Kejriwal said at a joint press conference with Sisodia.

Kejriwal also attacked the BJP-led government.

“Rupee is falling, people are troubled by inflation, unemployment is at a high and these people are playing ‘CBI-ED’, and are busy toppling governments chosen by people and exchanging abuses and barbs the entire day,” he alleged.

“Who do people talk to about their issues and whom should they go to? How will the nation progress like this?” the Delhi chief minister tweeted.

Referring to Sisodia’s claims about receiving message from BJP, Kejriwal said that it means CBI-ED action had nothing to do with liquor policy and corruption “but to oust the AAP government as has been done with (opposition governments) in other states”.

“Operation Lotus has failed in Delhi,” he said in another tweet.

Anurag Thakur lashed out at Arvind Kejriwal over allegations of corruption.

“I gave him 24 hours to respond, but he hasn’t said a word. Nor has any other AAP spokesperson. First their corrupt ‘Dawa mantri’ was arrested and in jail for the last 3 months and now their corrupt ‘Daru Mantri’ is first in list of accused, but still the kingpin is silent,” Thakur said.

Gaurav Bhatia attacked Kejriwal, saying that the person whom Delhi Chief Minister gives a certificate of honesty goes to jail. “After deliberation, you will bow to the rule of law, your corruption will stop,” he said.

He said Kejriwal was not answering questions being asked by people and “records were being created in terms of corruption”.

“The BJP is exposing the corruption and dishonesty of AAP. It is clear that Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia do not have answers to questions of people,” he said.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj also claimed that Sisodia was approached by BJP with an offer to become the party’s chief ministerial face in Delhi.

Sisodia hit out at the BJP during his two-day visit to Gujarat.

“I received a text saying CBI, ED cases would be taken back if you leave the party and break it while leaving it. They also promised me the post of CM. I am not here to become CM, but to give the best education to students across the country.”

When asked about the person who contacted him on behalf of the BJP, the AAP leader said, “The ones who conveyed the message said that they had made Suvendu Adhikari in West Bengal, Himanta Biswa Sarma in Assam, Narayan Rane. He said that keep faith in us.”

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter and MLC, K Kavitha also joined the BJP and AAP battle over CBI raids and said on Monday that she will file a defamation case against Delhi BJP leaders – MP Parvesh Varma and former MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa for their allegations that she acted as a “middleman” between the liquor mafia and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

“The allegations made on me are completely baseless…I don’t have any link with what was said in the Delhi Excise scam. They have all the agencies in their hands, they can do whatever investigation that is required. We will completely cooperate,” Kavitha said. (ANI)

Indian batter Shubman Gill surpassed Sachin Tendulkar on Monday, scoring the highest individual score by an Indian against Zimbabwe in ODIs.

Gill accomplished this feat during the third and final ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare.
The stylish right-hander from Punjab had a stay on the crease that oozed grace and class. He scored 130 runs in just 97 balls with 15 fours and one six.

He had come to the crease in the 15th over after the fall of the first wicket, KL Rahul for 30 at the score of 63. He stayed till the last over. He was Brad Evans’ fourth victim and was caught by Innocent Kaia at long-off on the first ball of the final over.

The previous highest score in ODIs against Zimbabwe by an Indian was by Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 127* in 1998 in the first ODI of three-match series.

Gill has had an outstanding 2022 in ODIs so far. He has featured in six ODIs this year and has scored 450 runs at an average of 112.50. This classy batter has scored one hundred and three half-centuries this year, with a best of 130.

Coming to the match, Zimbabwe has been set 290 runs to win the final ODI.

Earlier batting first, India scored 289/8 in their 50 overs. An opening 63-run stand between KL Rahul (30) and Shikhar Dhawan (40) laid the foundation for a good score for the Men in Blue. After the departure of Dhawan, India was at 2/84. From that point on, Ishan Kishan and Gill started their assault on the bowlers and stitched a 140-run stand.

After their partnership was broken, Zimbabwe made a small comeback, taking the next five wickets within a space of just 65 runs. Brad Evans finished as the leading bowler for Zimbabwe with an excellent 5/54. (ANI)

A top scientist of the Indian Council of Medical Research-National Institute of Virology on Monday stated that the rising Monkeypox cases will not lead to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

In an exclusive interview with ANI, Dr Pragya Yadav, a senior scientist at ICMR-NIV, Pune said, “Spike in Monkeypox cases will not lead to HIV. These Monkeypox cases would have been tested for HIV during the detailed diagnosis to rule out other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).”
While discussing the potential for asymptomatic monkeypox patients and the importance of serological monitoring, Dr Yadav said, “The Monkeypox cases could be asymptomatic. In order to conduct such studies, an ELISA assay is currently being developed.”

Asked about the effectiveness of the smallpox vaccine against Monkeypox, she stated that the smallpox vaccination is 86 per cent effective at preventing monkeypox.

Dr Yadav commented on the first occurrence of Monkeypox-related mortality in Kerala, saying, “The other aetiology for the encephalitis in the death case was not discovered and the patient was already confirmed to have the disease. Therefore, Monkeypox may have been the likely cause of death.”

She further added that the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is also expanding its network of laboratories.

“The ICMR is extending the laboratory network for enhancing the capacity. We are in process of developing serological assays and working towards vaccine as per the expression of interest released by ICMR,” she said.

According to a recent study in The Lancet, the monkeypox virus may spread from humans to dogs, Dr said.

“Men who use the same house and sleep close together with their dogs are thought to be the cause of the transmission,” she added. (ANI)

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take up a case against former Pakistan Prime Minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan for “threatening” a woman judge, on Tuesday.

The Express Tribune reported that the IHC has taken notice of Imran Khan’s statement in which he allegedly threatened additional sessions judge of the federal capital Zeba Chaudhry and decided to initiate contempt of court proceedings against him.
A three-judge IHC bench headed by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and comprising Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Babar Sattar will take up the case tomorrow, as per the publication.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman was booked for threatening a judge and two top police officials in a public meeting held at the F-9 Park late Saturday evening.

Khan was booked under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

Meanwhile, IHC has granted pre-arrest bail to Imran Khan till August 25 after he was booked under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

This comes as PTI legal team today filed a pre-arrest bail plea for Imran Khan after a first information report (FIR) was registered against him in Islamabad High Court.

According to the details provided by Pakistan’s local media outlet ARY News, taking up the petition, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani asked what objections were raised on it. Replying to the judge, Imran Khan’s lawyer Babar Awan claimed that “Imran’s residence has been surrounded and he cannot even approach the relevant court”.

Imran’s lawyers, Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry, filed a petition seeking pre-arrest bail on his behalf in a terrorism case registered for ‘threatening’ a female judge and senior police officers in a public rally.

The pre-arrest bail plea contended the case was based on “surmises and conjectures” and that no evidence was available on record against Imran in connection with the case. It also contended that there was no “direct or indirect” evidence available on record against Imran in the case.

Another point which was highlighted in the plea was the assurance that if granted protective bail there will be “no likelihood” of Imran absconding or tampering with prosecution evidence.

It should be noted that a terrorism case was registered against Imran Khan for using derogatory language and threatening Additional Session Judge Zeba Chaudhry in his speech in Islamabad on August 20. Sources say that the text of the PTI chief’s August 20 speech has also been included in the FIR.

Imran Khan, addressing a PTI rally in Islamabad, had said that they would file cases against Inspector General Islamabad Police, Deputy IG Islamabad Police and magistrate Zeba Chaudhry for the torture of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former president Asif Ali Zardari has opposed the arrest of Imran Khan. He believes that the arrest will cause political damage to the ruling alliance. (ANI)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday alleged that Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had received offers from a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader to work against the Arvind Kejriwal-led outfit to escape CBI action.

Senior party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that Sisodia, who is facing CBI action in Delhi liquor policy case, was approached by BJP with an offer to become the party’s chief ministerial face in Delhi.
Addressing the media, Bharadwaj claimed that BJP was asking Sisodia to join it along with other legislators. However, the Aam Aadmi Party leader did not name any BJP leader.

Bhardwaj said there were several opposition leaders who faced corruption charges but soon after they joined the BJP, investigations against them were stopped.

“Leaders like Suvendu Adhikari, Himanta Bishwa Sharma, Mukul Roy, Narayan Rane, Baijayant Panda, Reddy Brothers were earlier facing allegations of corruption. But after joining BJP, now these leaders are not being investigated,” he added.

AAP leader Atishi Marlena alleged that the “same BJP leader” who had contacted Himanta Biswa Sarma, Suvendu Adhikari, Baijayant Panda and Mukul Rai had approached Sisodia a few days ago with an offer to join the BJP.

Earlier on Monday, Sisodia in a tweet said he had received an offer from the BJP to join them by splitting the AAP in lieu of getting the CBI against him closed. “My reply to the BJP is – I am a descendant of Maharana Pratap, a Rajput. I will cut off my head but will not bow down to the corrupt and those who conspire. All the cases against me are false. Do what you want to do,” Sisodia tweeted.

Last week, CBI conducted searches on Sisodia’s official residence and carried out raids at several places in connection with the alleged corruption in the implementation of Delhi’s Excise Policy. The AAP has maintained the allegations of corruption are politically motivated.

The BJP, on the other hand, has attacked claiming that its model of governance was getting exposed. (ANI)

In another picture, the mother-daughter duo can be seen overwhelmed as they take a look at the youngest member of the Kapoor family.

In the last picture, the baby’s face is covered with a blue butterfly emoticon, as he could be seen covered in purple cloth.

Soon after the ‘Veere Di Wedding’ producer shared the pictures, fans flooded the comment section with red heart emoticons and congratulatory messages.

Sonam and her husband Anand Ahuja tied the knot on May 8, 2018, in a traditional Anand Karaj ceremony. In March 2022, the couple announced that they are expecting their first child together.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Sonam will be next seen in the upcoming film ‘Blind’ directed by Shome Makhija, starring Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak and Lillete Dubey in prominent roles. The film is expected to release later this year. (ANI)

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) on Monday said that its officers had detained a suicide bomber, a member of the Islamic State terrorist group, who was plotting a terrorist attack against one of India’s leadership elite, Russia news agency Sputnik reported.

“Russia’s FSB identified and detained a member of the Islamic State international terrorist organization banned in Russia, a native of a country in the Central Asian region, who planned to commit a terrorist act by blowing himself up against one of the representatives of the ruling circles of India,” the authority said in a statement.
The detained was recruited by one of the IS leaders as a suicide bomber in Turkey, the statement added .

Islamic State and all its manifestations have been notified as Terrorist Organization and included in the First Schedule to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 by the Central Government.

According to Home Ministry, IS is using various internet-based social media platforms to propagate its ideology. Cyberspace is being closely watched in this regard by the agencies concerned and action is taken as per law. (ANI)
