Salman Issued Gun License After Receiving Threat

Bollywood star Salman Khan has been issued an arms license after he applied for a gun license for self-protection in the backdrop of threat letters that he received recently.

Salman had received a death threat from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang following which he met Mumbai police chief Vivek Phansalkar over the threat letter to him and his father.
There had been reports that Salman has upgraded to an armoured and bulletproof Land Cruiser ever since the threats.

Notably, Salman and his father Salim Khan had received a death threat on June 5, days after Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29.

Salim Khan’s security team found the letter outside their Mumbai home near the Bandra Bandstand promenade, where Salim Khan goes for his routine morning jog.

Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village of Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29. The incident took place a day after his security was withdrawn by the Punjab Police among 424 others.

The letter that the actor received in Hindi said that both Salim Khan and his son would soon meet the same fate as slain singer Siddhu Moosewala (‘Tera Moosawala bana denge’), said the police sources on condition of anonymity.

As per the information received from Maharashtra Home Department, the reason behind the Bishnoi gang threatening actor Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan was to create an atmosphere to show their power.

This is not the first time Salman has received threats. In 2018 when the trial of the blackbuck poaching case was underway, Bishnoi had allegedly threatened the actor because in his community blackbucks are considered sacred. (ANI)

Please Don’t Boycott My Film: Aamir On Laal Singh Chaddha

Ahead of the release of Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, the film triggered controversy after “#BoycottLaalSinghChaddha” started trending on Twitter.

Apparently, some Twitter users went through the archives and dug up Aamir’s controversial “India’s growing intolerance” statement and circulated it on the micro-blogging site.

Reacting to the boycott trend, Aamir while speaking to Mumbai reporters requested people to watch his film.

“That Boycott Bollywood… Boycott Aamir Khan… Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha… I feel sad also because a lot of people who are saying this in their hearts believe I am someone who doesn’t like India… In their hearts they believe that… And that’s quite untrue,” Aamir quoted as a saying.

“I really love the country… That’s how I am. It is rather unfortunate if some people feel that way.I want to assure everyone that it’s not the case so please don’t boycott my films, please watch my films,” he pleaded.

Well, this is not the first time that netizens have expressed anger towards the upcoming film. Earlier, when the makers of the film launched the trailer in May, the same hashtag was trending.

Talking about the controversial statement in question, in 2015, Aamir Khan said in an interview, “Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill-will”. His wife Kiran Rao also made headlines for saying that she considered leaving the country for the safety of their children.

Helmed by Advait Chandan, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is an official Hindi adaptation of the Academy Award-winning 1994 film ‘Forrest Gump’, which had Tom Hanks in the lead role. It is scheduled to release on August 11.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh are also a part of the film. (ANI)

5G Spectrum Auction; Govt Gets Bids Worth Rs 1.5 L Cr

The government has received bids worth over Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the 5G spectrum auction on the seventh day on Monday.

The first-ever auction of the 5G spectrum in India began on July 26. The bidding for the auction concluded after a total of 40 rounds of bidding that were held in the past seven days.
The provisional value of the bids received after the 40 rounds stood at Rs 1,50,173 crore, according to sources. On the seventh and the last day of the auction, bids worth Rs 43 crore were received.

On the opening day of the auction on July 26, bids worth Rs 1.45 lakh crore were received. Four rounds of spectrum bidding were held on the first day.

According to sources, Reliance Jio has been the most aggressive bidder.

Four firms are in the fray for the 5G auction. These firms are – Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Bharti Airtel Limited, Vodafone Idea Limited and Adani Data Networks Limited.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has been the most aggressive in the bids followed by Sunil Bharti Mittal-led Bharti Airtel.

This is evident from the earnest money deposit (EMD) submitted by the firms. Put together the four companies have deposited Rs 21,800 crore as EMD.

More than half of this amount was deposited by Reliance Jio Infocomm, which is the largest telecom operator in India. Reliance Jio Infocomm has put in Rs 14,000 crore as EMD followed by Bharti Airtel Limited at Rs 5,500 crore.

Vodafone Idea Limited has deposited Rs 2,200 crore as EMD for the 5G auction while EMD amount of Adani Data Networks stands at Rs 100 crore.

EMD amounts give a broad indication of the company’s plan for picking up the spectrum in an auction. The EMD determines the eligibility points, through which telcos target a specific amount of spectrum in a given circle.

With its EMD at Rs 14,000 crore, the eligibility points assigned to Reliance Jio Infocomm for the auction stand at 1,59,830, DoT data showed. Eligibility points allocated to Bharti Airtel stand at 66,330 and for Vodafone Idea Limited it stands at 29,370. The eligibility points allocated to Adani Data Networks Ltd are the lowest at 1,650. Maldives Prez Arrives In Delhi For Four-Day India Visit

Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih arrived in New Delhi on Monday to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and review the progress made in this wide-ranging partnership between the two countries.

Mohamed Solih is on a four-day visit to India at the invitation of PM Modi. He is accompanied by a high-level official and business delegation.
“A warm welcome to a close friend and maritime neighbour! President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih of Maldives arrives in New Delhi for an official visit. An opportunity to nurture the unwavering friendship between our two countries and lend further momentum to the multifaceted partnership,” MEA tweeted.

During the visit, President Solih will meet the President and hold talks with the Prime Minister. The External Affairs Minister will call on President Solih.

Besides official engagements in New Delhi, President Solih will be holding discussion with an Indian business delegation in Delhi. During this visit, President Solih will also visit Mumbai, Maharashtra and participate in business events.

Maldives is India’s key neighbour in the Indian Ocean Region and occupies a special place in India’s Neighbourhood First Policy. In recent years, the partnership has witnessed rapid growth in all areas of cooperation.

During a press briefing last week, President Solih’s upcoming Official visit will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to review the progress made in this wide ranging partnership and lend further momentum to it.

For India, the Maldives has always been a close and important maritime neighbour. Multifaceted ties between the two countries have strengthened despite the pandemic-related disruptions.

India’s “Neighborhood First” policy and Maldives’s “India First” policy work in tandem to tackle shared concerns and advance mutual interests.

Back in March, President Solih highlighted the positive role played by India in the country’s affairs in the last two years.

In a national address, Solih thanked the Indian government for its role in helping his country cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, including giving vaccines. Solih mentioned several friendly bilateral partners. However, he singled out New Delhi for assisting the Maldives’ COVID-19 response efforts. (ANI)

Mamata To Carve Seven New Districts In Bengal, Total Number Rises To 30

The Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal on Monday decided to carve out seven new districts out of the existing 23 districts by redrawing their boundaries for better administration and development.

According to the government, the seven new districts are Sunderban, Ichhamati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur and Basirhat.
“Earlier there were 23 districts in Bengal now it has been increased to 30. The 7 new districts include – Sunderban, Ichhemati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur and one more district will be named in Basirhat,” said West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

Reacting to this, BJP’s Amit Malviya said, “Mamata Banerjee’s decision to create seven new districts and induct new faces is an attempt to divert attention from the SSC Scam. She must explain from where a debt-trapped West Bengal Government gets money to run new districts. With Paresh Adhikari still in her cabinet, new faces won’t wash taint.”

Paresh Adhikari is the state Education Minister. His house was also raided by ED along with Partha Chatterjee’s in the SSC recruitment scam.

Chief Minister Banerjee had earlier announced that there will be a Cabinet reshuffle in the state on Wednesday.

“We will do a reshuffle on Wednesday. There will be 4-5 new faces,” she said.

This comes soon after former minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the SSC recruitment scam case.

Chatterjee was minister-in-charge of the departments of industry, commerce and enterprises, IT and electronics, parliamentary affairs and public enterprises, and industrial reconstruction.

The CM took charge of the departments on Thursday after his arrest.

Banerjee now holds charge of 11 departments, including the four held by Partha Chatterjee.

“We don’t have a plan to dissolve the whole ministry and form a new one. Yes, there will be a reshuffle. We lost ministers Subrata Mukherjee, Sadhan Pande. Partha da is in jail so all their work has to be done. Not possible for me to handle alone,” added the West Bengal CM. (ANI)

Suspension Of 4 LS Cong MPs Revoked

The suspension of four Congress MPs from Lok Sabha was revoked on Monday following a motion that was passed in the Lower House of Parliament.

The Congress members of Parliament – Manickam Tagore, Ramya Haridas, T N Prathapan and S Jothi Mani — were suspended for the rest of the Monsoon Session of Parliament after Speaker Om Birla took a stern view of the continuous disruptions by Opposition MPs since the beginning of the Monsoon Session.
While announcing the cancellation of the suspension of the Congress MPs from Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla said the members were being given a last chance. He also said that no placards would be brought inside the House or else, “I will listen neither to the government nor the Opposition and will surely take action.”

On July 26, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla suspended four Congress members for the rest of the monsoon session for unruly behaviour and disrupting the proceedings of the House. The suspended MPs, along with other opposition members, were protesting with placards and shouting slogans against price rise and ignored repeated warnings from the Speaker.

Earlier, Speaker Om Birla had warned the protesting members, including from the Congress, TMC and DMK, that those who continue to shout slogans and display placards will have to do it outside the House.

After witnessing two repeated adjournments in both Houses of Parliament over ruckus created by Opposition leaders on various issues, Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Pralhad Joshi expressed their concerns over Parliament not being allowed to function normally.

Addressing the media persons today at the Parliament premises, Piyush Goyal said, “The Central Government was ready from the first day to discuss about inflation. However, the Opposition wasn’t allowing the House (Lok Sabha) to function normally. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had COVID-19. Knowing that she has just recovered, we are appealing to them for the House to function normally.”

Piyush Goyal said that the Opposition is not letting the House run and is running away from discussing other issues.

“We already decided that the issue of price rise will be discussed on Monday in Lok Sabha and on Tuesday in Rajya Sabha. Despite that, the House wasn’t allowed to run. They’re running away from discussing the issue,” he said.

Goyal added, “Either Opposition MPs should express regret about whatever they have done or their leaders should ensure that they won’t bring placards which are against the rules. In that case, the government is ready to move the motion to revoke the suspension of MPs.”

Pralhad Joshi, too, expressed his concerns in the matter and objected to protesting with placards in the Parliament.

“We have many bills to pass but unfortunately, the House is getting adjourned. If the Leader of Congress Parliamentary Party gives assurance in the house that MPs will not come with placards, then, we are ready to withdraw the suspension,” said Pralhad Joshi.

“In spite of that, the Opposition is not cooperating, which means they are running away from the discussion of price rise. If the Opposition is really interested, they should allow the House to function normally,” Joshi further said.

Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 PM for the second time on Monday, after a ruckus by Opposition leaders on various issues.

The Lower House was adjourned after Opposition parties demanded the suspension of four Congress MPs be revoked. In Rajya Sabha, the Opposition continued sloganeering and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded a discussion over price rise. To this, Bhubaneswar Kalita, presiding in the Chair, responded that the matter would be taken up tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan is introducing a Bill to amend the Central Universities Act, 2009, in the Lok Sabha.

Union Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar is expected to move the Weapons of Mass Destruction and their Delivery Systems (Prohibition of Unlawful Activities) Amendment Bill, 2022, in the Rajya Sabha for passing.

Earlier in the day, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till noon after a ruckus was created by Opposition leaders on various issues. The Lower House had been adjourned after Opposition leaders demanded the withdrawal of the suspension of four Congress MPs last week. (ANI)

Competition to Get Delhi Drunk and Apna Rishi

AAP, BJP Compete To Get Delhi, Dilli Drunk: AAP and BJP are in a bit of a competition to get Delhi tipsy and help it drown its sorrows. AAP has decided that all liquor shops in Delhi will be owned by its Government or state. That way excise and Govt coffers can go up to an estimated ₹9,500 crores. Quite a sum.

According to AAP, the BJP government was harassing private liquor shop owners with Directorate of Enforcement and the CBI! Their pincer attacks on liquor shops drove nearly half of Delhi alcohol selling outfits to close due to what they called harassment.

That might have sounded good for campaigners of an Alcohol-Mukt Bharat or wives praying for alcohol-free Indian men. But according to AAP, the Central Government was trying to introduce the Gujrat model. Modiji has been championing the Gujrat model of development everywhere since he announced his candidacy to become PM. He was after all Chief Minister of Gujarat once.

But Modiji has never showcased Gujarat model of liquor sale policy. AAP says the Gujarat model is to drive alcohol sale into the black market. With ED raids on licensed shops, apparently it was already happening in Delhi. As Delhi Police is under the Central Government, allegedly there was quite a bit of money to be made by arresting and de-arresting backstreet sellers. That is allegedly the Gujarat liquor economic model. Gujarat has many types of unique economic models to handle different aspects of the economy. For instance the Gujrat model of intercommunal harmony is to thump a minority on the head and make it say ‘jee huzoor’. Apparently it works.

Kejriwal wasn’t going to miss out on all the alcohol revenue regardless of the prayers of the haplesse Indian wife. So while the BJP Gujrat model wants Delhi to get drunk on the black-market and ‘unofficially’ or illegally as AAP says, AAP wants Delhi to be drunk and be merry officially. AAP minister, Manish Sisodia, is going to open almost all the liquor shops under Delhi Government. And people can buy the hard stuff at the pleasure of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and co with profits and excise going to make the pavements safe in case fully drunk individuals fall and hit their heads. It’s a circular economy. Every family can be happy. Papa hasn’t split his head after the fall after drinking too much.

So Delhi Govt is now going to be the owner of the biggest chain store in India, some 900 or more liquor stores. People can get merry, and after a few scotch whiskeys etc, say things like: Dilli, Dlehi or ‘Oee ki kende nae, daily, dilli, billy’ and pay Kejriwal Govt to get to that point of mental incoherence.

Apna Rishi

Apna Rishi had a dream. Born and schooled in Britain, he wanted to make Britain great again. So he became a politician after earning quite a lot of money as banker and then marrying into a mega rich house. He became Chief Munshi in Boris Johnson Government, tidying up the books and looking after the ‘toshakhana’.

His boss, Boris the Boar (has the physical features of one and snorts) has a moto: ‘Never knowingly tell the truth’. He has been brought down in an office coup (Palace belongs to the Queen in UK) because he didn’t tell the truth too many times even for the Brits to stomach.

It is alleged that Apna Rishi, in a hurry to become ‘Wazir e Alam’ of Britain, led the ‘Ides of March’ stabbing. Apna Rishi then quickly laid claim to the throne. Eight others also did. Seven of them have been weeded out by his fellow MPs. There are now two in the ring, Apna Rishi and a local girl, Liz Truss. Now Apna Rishi needs backing of his party members. That is where he is against tough competition. Three things stand against him. Being filthy rich in a country that hides its wealth (mostly looted from colonies). Telling the truth in a country that prides in hypocrisy. And being Brown and ‘foreign’ in a country that ditched EU membership because of English nationalism and dreaming of restoring Rule Britannia.

Apna Rishi wears ₹40,000 rupee (£400) shoes and ₹350,000 (£3500) suits when trying to convince voters that he understands poverty and the needs of financially struggling people. Many Tory voters from poor constituencies look at their ₹2,000 (£20) shoes and his ₹40,000 shoes and shake their heads. So that’s one big vote bank ‘shooed’ away.

Apna Rishi says that after the ‘never knowingly tell the truth’ period of his Boss, he (Apna Rishi) is going to be straight forward and tell the truth. (If anyone knows a Banker who is straightforward, please post it in Instagram).

The English pride in being hypocrites, so much that they even deny being hypocrites. Boris the current leader was too far into hypocrisy even for the English as he was doing it openly, so they decided to get rid of him. A true hypocrite is not meant to be found out. By compa, Boris was an honest hypocrite.

Apna Rishi took the English at face value and laid his stall by saying the country is broke with rising inflation, rising interest rates, rising poverty and rising energy costs, so he is going to raise TAXES to bring it all within affordable means. He is a Banker at heart and thinks of add and minus accounts.

RAISE TAXES. Has any politician in the world got elected by saying he/she will raise taxes? They all say they are going to get rid of taxes altogether if possible only to raise them when they get elected. Apna Rishi being Punjabi, has been saying what comes into the mind. So that’s a bigger vote bank cashed off free to his opponent, Liz Truss. Liz says she will lower taxes, even though all leading economic institutions say that is economic suicide.

Thirdly, Apna Rishi has taken the ‘non racist’ racism of the English to heart. He really believes in the rhetoric. The Brits are great at drama. This is land of Shakespeare. They put in a few non white faces in the ring to pretend they are not racists. Then they scalp the person alive in the press and throw the carcass in the bin.

Apna Rishi was asked if racism is a factor against him. Poor rich Apna rishi, taught in best public schools and Universities, said No! What else could he say!

He has been given a script for his campaign that can then be torn apart when needed. The press has suddenly been tearing apart his record as Chancellor, although he was the first finance Minister in the world to think of furlough payments to save people being thrown into dire bankruptcies during the pandemic. Now his expensive suits and shoes have become part of public ridicule in the press. Suddenly the right wing press is wheeling out failed economists to condemn his Tax Raising proposals.

The average Tory member who still dreams of Rule Britannia rebranded as Global Great Britain GGB), has been given enough reasons to vote against Apna Rishi and still not admit that it’s because he (Apna) is not White.

His competitor on the other hand is being hailed as having a great record as a foreign minister who stood up to Russia and a competent coherent politician.

This despite the fact that Russia’s Foreign Minister made mockery of her trip to Russia by saying ‘she hears but not listens’ and exposed her lack of knowledge of her subject. In diplomatic circles, she has become a joke.  She often speaks as if she is trying to put a sentence together and lacks coherence of thought in her answers. The Press says that shows she is thinking!

Apna Rishi is still trying. Being Punjabi, he is also getting angry possibly having realised he is a muppet in a game and being ‘coloured off’. Still its difficult to be sorry for him. He was naïve to think he can get into Downing Street. And he has a lot of spare cash while he has thrown the ordinary person in the abyss of rising inflation, interest rate hikes, falling standards and sky high energy costs. But Apna Rishi is Apna and Punjabi and great of him to try.  Where would a Apna Punjabi be without thinking of world dominance but unable to dominate even the mahala.
