High Court Tells Delhi Govt To Fill Vacancies In Jails

Papalpreet Brought To Dibrugarh Central Jail

A day after being arrested by Punjab Police, Papalpreet Singh, a close aide of fugitive Khalistan leader and ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh was brought to Assam’s Dibrugarh Central Jail on Tuesday.

Papalpreet was arrested from Amritsar’s Kathu Nangal area on Monday.
Briefing the media on the capture of Amritpal’s close aide, Punjab’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Headquarters, Sukhchain Singh Gill said Papalpreet was arrested under the National Security Act (NSA).

“Papalpreet Singh, the main associate of Amritpal Singh was arrested by Amritsar Rural Police from the Kathu Nangal area. The arrest was made under the National Security Act. Apart from being an associate of Amritpal, he was also wanted in six cases,” Gill said, adding that action against him will be taken as per the law.

Papalpreet was seen with the fugitive Khalistan leader in several photographs that surfaced after the duo escaped the dragnet cast for them by the state police.

In an unverified video on March 30, the ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief said he was not “a fugitive” and would soon “appear in front of the world”.

Further, in the video, the veracity of which could not be determined, Amritpal said those who think he ran away from his people or friends should “get that thing” out of their minds.

Earlier, on March 18, Punjab Police launched an operation against Amritpal and his aides.

The Punjab Police had earlier, expressed doubts about Amritpal entering the Delhi border using any vehicle other than a bus. Following the input, Delhi Police raised an alert and stepped up efforts to track the fugitive radical preacher.

Amritpal has been on the run since March 18, the day Punjab Police launched a massive manhunt for him.

The crackdown came almost over three weeks after Amritpal’s supporters stormed Ajnala police station in Amritsar on February 23, demanding the release of one of his aides, Lovepreet Toofan. (ANI)

Shah on ARUNACHAL land

No One Can Encroach Even Pin’s Tip Worth Of Our Land: Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday launched the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme’ in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kibithoo and said “no one can encroach even pin’s tip worth of our land” and that “no one has the power to cast an evil eye on us”.

The Home Minister said that no one can cast their “evil eye” on India in today’s time as the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Indian Army are guarding the borders.
“The entire country can sleep peacefully in their homes today because our ITBP jawans and Army is working day & night on our borders. Today, we can proudly say that no one has the power to cast an evil eye on us,” Shah said while addressing on the occasion.

Shah said that India is taking all measures to boost its security.

“Today, we say with pride that gone are the days when anybody could encroach on India’s land. Today, we can proudly say that no one can encroach even a tip of a pin’s worth of our land because ITBP and Indian Army are present at our borders. I salute the sacrifices of all the jawans. Whosoever came to encroach the land here in 1962 had to return because of your patriotism,” he added.

He said that the Modi government’s Look East policy has accelerated progress in the Northeast and the region now contributes to the development of the country.

“Before 2014, the entire Northeast region was known as a disturbed region but in the last 9 years, because of PM Modi’s ‘Look East’ policy, Northeast is now considered an area which contributes to the development of the country,” he said.

The Home Minister described Kibithu as India’s first village and not last village.

“Kibithoo is India’s first village & not the last village. Earlier when people visited here, they used to say “I had gone to the last village of the country, but today, I’ll say that I visited the first village of India,” he said.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India has approved the VVP with central components of Rs 4,800 crore including Rs 2,500 crore exclusively for road connectivity for the Financial Years 2022-23 to 2025-26.

The VVP is a centrally sponsored scheme under which 2,967 villages in 46 blocks of 19 districts abutting the northern border in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Ladakh have been identified for comprehensive development.

In the first phase, 662 villages have been identified for priority coverage, which includes 455 villages in Arunachal Pradesh.

The VVP will help in improving the quality of life of people living in identified border villages and encourage them to stay in their native locations thereby reversing the outmigration from these villages and adding to the security of the border. (ANI)

Shehnaaz Gill Salman

Salman Tells Shehnaaz To Move On

Actor-singer Shehnaaz Gill shares a great bond with superstar Salman Khan. The two have been in constant touch ever since Shehnaaz appeared on Bigg Boss 13.

The young actress is now all set to make her big screen debut in Salman-starrer ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’. On Monday, the duo along with the whole cast of the film arrived at the trailer launch.
Salman was in a full candid mood at the event. He also interacted with Shehnaaz and other co-stars including Bhumika Chawla, Pooja Hegde and Raghav Juyal among others.

When the host asked Shehnaaz whether she got nervous while shooting for the big film, Salman intervened and said, “Main keh raha hoon move on kar jao.”

To which, Shehnaaz responded, “Kar gayi.”

Salman further said, “And Shehnaaz, I want you to move on. Kyuki mujhe aise lag raha hai… And I notice all these things. If I can notice this about me, then I can notice this about all of you also… Actually, I shouldn’t say much.”

It seemed like Salman hinted at Shehnaaz being stuck in an emotional dilemma post the demise of her close friend Sidharth Shukla.

At the event, Shehnaaz recalled getting rejected for her first music video.

Thanking Salman for giving her ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ opportunity, she said, “When I had gone to shoot for my first music video, I was rejected. I was told, ‘Ye kaunsi bachchi leke aaye hai, we don’t want to shoot with her. Take her back.’ I came back and cried a lot at home, that I’ve been rejected. My mom told me why am I crying, one day I would be in a Salman Khan film. Sir gave me a chance and proved that mom’s words always come true.”

Besides Shehnaaz, ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ also marked the Bollywood debut of Shweta Tiwari’s daughter Palak Tiwari. The film will hit the theatres on April 21. (ANI)

Urfi Javed Ranbir

Urfi Issues Clarification On ‘Go To Hell’ Remark Against Ranbir

Urfi Javed and controversies go hand-in-hand. She recently made headlines for saying “go to hell” to actor Ranbir Kapoor.

The whole incident spiralled after Ranbir expressed his views on Urfi Javed’s fashion statement while speaking to Kareena Kapoor Khan on her show ‘What Women Want’ last month.
On the show, Ranbir said he did not like Urfi’s fashion choice, terming it as “bad taste”. On the other hand, Kareena in one of the interviews heaped praises on Urfi’s fashion sense.

Urfi recently spoke to Humans of Bombay, wherein she opened up on Kareena hailing her confidence.

“I was blown away, I couldn’t believe it at first. I thought she might have said something bad and these people are joking with me that she has said something good. But then I saw the video and that day I felt that I have achieved something in life. Kareena Kapoor complimented me, I was like I have achieved a lot,” she said.

She also “sarcastically” took a dig at Ranbir.

“Kareena Kapoor ne meri tareef ki hai! Kareena Kapoor ne! Woh jo gum tha ki Ranbir Kapoor ne bola ‘bad taste,’ maine bola ‘bhaad main jaaye Ranbir Kapoor (I was upset about Ranbir’s comment, but then after Kareena’s compliment, I was like ‘Ranbir can go to hell’). Kareena Kapoor ne meri tarif kar di hai fir kya hai Ranbir ki aukat (Kareena has praised me, I don’t need anyone’s validation or anything)” she added.

However, Urfi’s remarks on Ranbir did not go down well with his fans. A section of social media users slammed Urfi over the “go to hell” comment.

On Monday, Urfi took to Instagram Story and shared a string of posts, explaining that she was being sarcastic and didn’t mean that Ranbir Kapoor should literally “go to hell” for his earlier remark on her style being in “bad taste.

“I never said go to hell Ranbir. I mean… I said it in a very sarcastic and humorous way with no disrespect meant to anyone. And bhaad is not equal to hell,” Urfo said in a video clip.

In another video, Uorfi Javed said, “Mera sarcasm kisi din mujhe pitwaygi… (laughs)… in short meinkisi din pit jaungi yaar, ya toh mere kapdo ke wajah se ya toh mere baaton ke wajah se (I will be beaten someday either because of my words or outfits.).”

Urfi rose to fame after featuring in ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ in 2021. (ANI)

‘Covid Brought A Seachange In Design & Architecture Of Housing Units’

Salil Kumar, who is associated with an NCR-based real estate group, says adaptability to the changing lifestyle is vital for the realty segment. His views:

Covid-19 brought significant changes in various facets of life. It affected livelihoods, businesses and social interaction. Those who adapted to the new changes survived losses even as many others were forced to shut shop. Being associated with the real estate sector for many years, I can speak about how architecture and urban design were impacted with post-pandemic realities.

The pandemic altered the way people worked. A large number of office workforce was compelled to leave the office models and adopted work from home or WFH. It has become an established norm for professionals whose work can be executed through a digital network efficiently. And this comprises a huge segment.

Builders and developers realized the new requirements and transformed the design of high-rise buildings that made them adaptable to current and future needs. We saw a sharp rise in demand for homes with work-from-home facilities. The need for homes with separate office areas is anticipated to increase as the new waves of virus surge and subside. It is anticipated that projects with bigger configurations, or which include an extra area that can be converted into a small office space, will be desired. Investors have shown interest in initiatives that provide office spaces or club concepts for working residents.

IT professionals are now looking for residential buildings that provide a functional setup for their remote work needs. This shift has led to an increase in demand for housing units that incorporate home offices, workstations, specialized furniture and other amenities required for a productive workspace. Developers have recognized this trend and started designing buildings that cater to these emerging needs.

Developers now focus on creating spaces that provide a sense of private workspace within the apartment, specifically for those working from home. These customized workspaces are equipped with necessary infrastructure, including high-speed internet connectivity, ergonomic seating, and essential office equipment, to provide the perfect environment for remote work. Additionally, residential clusters have started incorporating shared office spaces in their designs, which provide residents with office-like workspaces within communal areas of a building.

Flexibility is another vital aspect that developers have started to incorporate in high-rise building designs, like multifunctional rooms that can adapt to different requirements. These spaces can be transformed from conventional living spaces to workspaces and even recreational areas. There are convertible spaces like Murphy beds, extending tables, wall-mounted bookshelves, and movable cabinets, which can be rearranged according to specific needs.

Health and well-being have also become critical aspects of building design. Architects and developers are now putting a lot of emphasis on interior spaces, which ensure adequate ventilation, access to natural light, and an abundance of greenery. The introduction of advanced air filtration systems and materials that are resistant to bacterial growth and contamination will certainly draw favourable response from the buyer. Community spaces like gyms and recreational zones need to be more spacious in accordance with social distancing.

In conclusion, the pandemic created a drastic shift in work culture, and developers have responded by altering the design and layout of high-rise buildings. Architects have also started emphasizing the design of interior spaces that ensure the health and well-being of the residents. While some high-rise buildings have already started accommodating these changing times, it is expected that more buildings will be designed to respond to emerging needs soon.

Shraddha murder case

Shraddha Case: Court Restrains Media From Publishing, Disseminating Content Of Charge Sheet

Delhi’s Saket court on Monday passed an order on a plea moved by Delhi Police against a channel and other channels seeking an order restraining them from disseminating content of charge sheet including digital evidence in the Shraddha murder case stating that it is “not” a public document.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Rakesh Kumar Singh passed a restraining order against the channel and list the matter on April 17 for further hearing. The court said that a detailed hearing will be given to both the parties.
Special public prosecutor (SPP) Amit Prasad said that the Delhi Police earlier approached the court on credible information that one of the media houses has accessed the audio-video evidence related to the Narco test and the Practo app.

“Delhi Police approached the court on credible information that one of the media houses has accessed the audio-video evidence related to Narco test and Practo app and is likely to disseminate the same today,” Amit Prasad told ANI.

“It has been learnt that some media channels propose to broadcast one such audio-video evidence which is an integral part of the charge sheet filed in case the Shradha Walker murder case. Such telecast/broadcast may cause irreparable damage to the cause of justice in this sensitive case which is sub-judice before the competent court,” read an official release from DCP PRO.

This matter is related to the alleged murder of Shraddha Walkar by his live-in partner Aftab Amin Poonawala on May 18, 2022.

Earlier on April 6, Delhi’s Saket Court adjourned the hearing on arguments on charges against accused Aftab Poonawala in the Shraddha Walkar murder case in view of the lawyers’ strike in lower courts.

Aftab was produced in the court physically. The next date for the hearing is April 14.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Manisha Khurana Kakkar after noting that the lawyers are not appearing due to absenteeism from work adjourned the matter.

The defence counsel is to argue on the point of charge.

Lawyers remained absent from work also on Thursday in protest of the alleged murder of advocate Virender Narwal in the Dwarka area.

On the last date of the hearing on April 3, the court took on record the copy of the judgement filed by the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Amit Prasad and Madhukar Pandey.

The court had granted liberty to the counsel of the accused to file a copy of any judgement if he wished to file.

SPP Amit Prasad had submitted that there is a clear judgement that the charge under section 201 of IPC can be framed against the person who destroys the evidence to shield the main offender as well against the person who committed the main offence.

On the earlier date, the counsel for accused Aftab had argued that the charges of murder and disappearance of evidence can’t be framed jointly. These charges can be framed alternatively.

Delhi police opposed the contention and sought time to place Judgements.

Advocate Akshay Bhandari had argued that either I (Aftab) can be charged with murder or for disappearing the evidence.

The accused cannot be charged for murder and disappearance of evidence under sections 302 and 201 of IPC together, the counsel argued. It can be framed alternatively.

He argued that the accused can be charged with the offence of murder under 302 IPC or he can be framed for the offence of shielding the main offender under section 201 IPC.

Advocate Bhandari had argued Mere saying that I (Aftab) am guilty of murder is not sufficient. They have statements of eyewitnesses only. The Prosecution has to show the manner in which the crime was committed.

SPP Amit Prasad rebutted that the joint charges can be framed under section 201 for disappearing the evidence.

He had also submitted that the relied upon a chain of evidence, statement of witnesses, a record of past events and circumstances, forensic evidence, manner of offence etc were submitted before the court.

Delhi police have concluded its arguements on the charge of murder and disappearance of evidence against the accused. (ANI)
