Hewlett Packard To Manufacture High-End Servers In India

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has partnered with Indian manufacturer VVDN Technologies to begin manufacturing some of its high-volume servers in India, the American multinational information technology company said on Tuesday.

This announcement comes in the wake of the recent Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s State visit to the US.
The Texas-headquartered company plans to manufacture approximately USD 1 billion worth of high-runner servers in the first five years of production from India, it said in a release.

“We welcome HPE’s decision to start their manufacturing line in India, as it will enhance domestic production capacities,” said Ashwini Vaishnaw.

“The recently announced Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme 2.0 aims to make India a global hub for Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM). We believe large-scale IT hardware manufacturing will help in broadening and deepening the manufacturing ecosystem.”

“These high-end very complex machines getting manufactured in India show how mature the electronics manufacturing industry is now becoming,” he told ANI.

Ahead of the announcement, Som Satsangi, Senior Vice President and Managing Director at HPE India and Puneet Agarwal, CEO at VVDN Technologies today met Union Minister for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw to share details of the initiative.

HPE has partnered with Indian manufacturer VVDN Technologies to manufacture HPE’s products from its plant in Manesar in Haryana.

The US-based tech company said that he manufacturing operation will support the growing demand from customers in India and further strengthen and diversify HPE’s global supply chain.

HPE has its largest workforce outside the US in India.

According to Antonio Neri, president and CEO, HPE, “Today’s announcement marks a significant milestone for HPE and reiterates our commitment to the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative for a self-reliant India.”

“India is a strategic market for HPE’s business, talent, innovation – and now, manufacturing. Customers in India continue turn to HPE to help them digitally transform, and our 14,000 team members here play a key role in driving our edge-to-cloud strategy. We are proud to build on our strong presence by establishing a manufacturing operation in this important country.”

HPE’s largest campus in the world at Mahadevapura in Bengaluru is home to many of HPE’s worldwide product development resources. More than 4,000 scientists, engineers, and research teams are based out of HPE’s R&D hub at this campus.

“The decision to start manufacturing from India underscores HPE’s long-term commitment to India,” said Som Satsangi SVP and managing director, at HPE India.

“India is expected to grow into a USD 1 trillion digital economy, and we believe that ‘Make in India’ will help accelerate this vision. Pak-Sponsored Narco-Terror: NIA Attaches House Of Two Brothers In Punjab

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached Punjab’s Amritsar-based house of two brothers accused in a Pakistan-sponsored narco-terror case being probed by the agency since 2020, the agency said on Tuesday.

The residential property belongs to Bikramjit Singh alias Bikram Singh alias Vicky and Maninder Singh alias Mani. The property has been attached under section 25(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 after its designation as ‘proceeds of terrorism’, said the NIA.
The two brothers were earlier arrested by the NIA in the case, which relates to a conspiracy hatched by a narco terror module to smuggle large quantities of drugs into India from Pakistan.

“The drugs were being smuggled in the garb of rock salt imported from across the border. The sale proceeds of the smuggled drugs were being used to create movable and immovable properties in Punjab, besides being channelized to fund terrorists of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen in the Kashmir Valley,” said the anti-terror agency.

The NIA had earlier also attached some land, measuring 60 Kanal 10 Marla, in the instant case. Six vehicles and Rs 6,35,000 in cash were also seized.

The agency, which registered the case on May 8, 2020, has filed four chargesheets (including three supplementary) against 13 accused under the relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Narcotics-Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act, and Indian Penal Code in the case. (ANI)

No Double Standards On Terrorism: Modi At SCO

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, in an apparent attack on Pakistan and China, called on member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to not hesitate to condemn countries that use cross-border terrorism as ‘policy instruments’ and shelter terrorists.

“Some countries use cross-border terrorism as an instrument of their policies and give shelter to terrorists,” Prime Minister Modi said adding that the SCO should not hesitate to criticise such countries and “there should be no double standards on terrorism.”
Addressing the 23rd summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation through video conference the prime minister said that “Terrorism is a threat to regional and global peace, we will have to fight against terrorism.”

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, China’s President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin among others participated in the summit.

“Terrorism has become the prime danger for both regional as well as global peace, and decisive action is necessary to deal with it. Terrorism in whichever form or expression, we have to collectively fight against it. Some countries use cross-border terrorism as instrument of their policies and harbour terrorists. SCO should not refrain from criticising such nations,” PM Modi said.

He added, “There should not be any place for double-standards on such a serious issue. We should also increase cooperation to deal against terror financing. We should take further steps to stop the radicalisation of youth in our countries. The joint statement being issued on the issue of radicalisation is the proof of our shared commitment”.

Last month, China had blocked a proposal by India and the United States at the United Nations to designate Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Sajid Mir, wanted for his involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks, as a global terrorist.

This move of China was sternly criticised by India, as even after 15 years since the Mumbai terrorist attacks, the masterminds behind the atrocity have yet to be brought to justice.

Meanwhile, in his virtual address to the SCO heads of the summit meeting, PM Modi also laid focus on the situation in Afghanistan and said that Afghan soil should not be allowed to be used to destabilise its neighbourhood.

The Prime Minister said that humanitarian assistance and setting of an elected government in Kabul are major priorities of the SCO.

“The situation in Afghanistan has directly affected the security of the region. India’s concerns and aspirations for Afghanistan is at par with other SCO countries. We will have to collectively work for the welfare of the Afghan people. Humanitarian assistance to Afghan citizens, forming an elected and inclusive government, fighting against drug trafficking and terrorism, and ensuring the rights of women, children and minorities- these all are our shared priorities,” he said.

PM Modi added, “India and Afghanistan have age-old ties. Over the last two decades, India has contributed to the economic and social development of Afghanistan. We have continued to send assistance even after the 2021 episode. It is important that the Afghan soil should not be used to spread instability in neighbouring countries or to encourage extremist ideologies”. (ANI)

Yoga Camp Organised For Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims

A Yoga camp was organised for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims at Jammu Base camp to help them during the yatra.

The Yoga sessions are being organised by the Department of Ayush, Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the Ramban district administration has set up free medical camps from Nashri to Banihal for Amarnath Yatris along the National Highway 44.

As many as 19 medical camps have been set up in Langars (a communal free kitchen), Yatri Niwas and other lodgements, Nodal Officer, Health Dr Opinder Singh told ANI.

Facilities like free medicines, ambulance service and testing facilities are available round the clock to the Yatris.

Earlier, Additional Director General of Police Jammu Mukesh Singh on Sunday visited Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district and took stock of security at the transit camp in the Banihal area and en-route national highway in the district for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.

The main aim of the visit was to conduct an on-the-spot review of the security arrangements planned by the district administration concerned for the smooth and incident-free conduct of the two-month-long yatra, said an official statement.

“During the security review, threadbare discussions were held on various security elements at different places of deployment i.e. Langer security, Lodgment centres security, route deployment, ROP and area domination etc, from Udhampur to Jawhar Tunnel,” said the statement.

The annual Amarnath Yatra began on July 1 with the first batch of pilgrims starting their journey from Baltal base camp in Jammu Kashmir’s Ganderbal to Amarnath Cave. The 62-day pilgrimage will culminate on August 31.

The pilgrims will undertake a 12-km journey from the base camp to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas located at an altitude of about 13,000 feet.

The first batch of pilgrims reached Baltal base camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal on Friday for Amarnath Yatra 2023.

Baltal, in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, is one of the twin routes for the annual pilgrimage and the other one is the Pahalgam route in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. (ANI)

Sindhu, Lakshya To Lead India’s Challenge At Canada Open 2023

India’s star shuttlers PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen will spearhead India’s challenge at the Canada Open 2023 badminton tournament starting Tuesday in Calgary, as per Olympics.com.

After missing the Taipei Open 2023, Sindhu will start afresh in the tournament.
The 12th-ranked Sindhu has failed to make a mark in the past three BWF World Tour events as she did not cross the second rounds. The former world champion was knocked out in the round of 16 of the Indonesia Open after exiting the Singapore Open and the Thailand Open in the first round.

In this season, Sindhu reached the final only once at the Madrid Masters 2023. Sindhu also made the semi-finals of the Malaysia Masters. The 27-year-old will open her women’s singles campaign against Canada’s world No. 61 Talia Ng.

Apart from Sindhu, Tasnim Mir and Gadde Ruthvika Shivani are India’s others who will participate in the women’s singles main draw. Tasnim start her campaign against Thuy Linh Nguyen of Vietnam while Ruthvika Shivani will face Thailand’s Supanida Katethong in her opening game.

In the men’s singles event, world No. 19 Lakshya Sen will be India’s only badminton player in the main draw. Lakshya Sen will play Thailand’s world No. 3 Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the round of 32.

Parupalli Kashyap, the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion, will face German Kai Schaefer in the opening round of qualifying. In the qualifications, S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian and B Sai Praneeth will also start.

HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth have skipped the Canada event. India’s top doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, who won the Indonesia Open last month, have also given the tournament a miss.

Meanwhile in the men’s doubles, the pair of Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala will be India’s only challenge. The duo will play the French pair of Julien Maio and William Villeger in the opener.

In the women’s doubles, the Indian pair Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa will take on the Australian duo of Kaitlyn Ea and Gronya Somerville. The pair of Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda will also start in the main draw.

B Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa will play the Japanese duo of Yuki Kaneko and Misaki Matsutomo in the first round of mixed doubles. Sai Pratheek K and Tanisha Crasto will start in the qualifiers.

Lashing out at the Shehbaz Sharif government, former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran alleged that the administration has “made a plan” to put him in jail and the whole episode that transpired over his arrest was “pre-planned”.

He was addressing the country, wherein he also denied any wrongdoing in all corruption cases against him.
Addressing the nation, former PM Imran Khan said, “I want the nation to know how a plan has been made to arrest me on the basis of false and baseless cases. A lawyer is killed in Quetta and without any investigation and proof. Shahbaz Sharif’s advisor comes on TV on the same day and says that the murder was done by Imran Khan and later the video of the same lawyer’s widow shows who did it”.

“This is not politics…this is jihad. We are all slaves, ” Imran Khan added.

On May 9, this year, former PM and PTI Chairman Imran Khan was arrested from inside the High Court in Islamabad by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the charges of corruption in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust, which he owns alongside his wife, Bushra Bibi.

Following Khan’s arrest, his party called for demonstrations, which turned violent at many places. The administration resorted to crackdown and many arrests were made across the country. The people accused in the May 9 violence are being tried at military courts.

“On May 9, I was arrested like a terrorist from the Islamabad High Court despite being on bail, and after that the cases were piled up while the Supreme Court also declared this arrest illegal. Is anyone going to answer?” Khan asked during his address.

He added, “16 innocent Pakistanis were shot, 9 people are missing but there is no inquiry and no one is talking about it. Is this a free society? Do these Pakistanis have no rights? Aren’t their wives and children family?”

Before his address, Imran Khan asked the public to show ‘defiance’ and stand up for ‘Haqeeqi Azadi’ (Real Democracy).

“Let’s all raise the PTI flag to show defiance to those who are trying to crush Pakistan’s biggest and only Federal party through this current reign of terror. We are standing up for our Haqeeqi Azadi.” he said on Twitter before the address.

Slamming the Shehbaz Sharif government during the address, Khan said that if he is put in an open court, he can prove that all his arrest was “pre-planned”.

“I want to say that bring me up in an open court on a televised address. I will prove that all of this was pre-planned. The way I was picked from there. It was pre-planned for provocation. Later on, when people reacted to it, it was used to crush the party (PTI) down, because the party was not bogging down,” he added.

Giving a reference to the French protests over the fatal shooting of a teenage boy, the PTI Chairman said, “So many innocent civilians were shot at, no one is even talking about it, and in France just one person was shot and see what is happening. That’s what is called a free nation”.

Imran Khan accused the Pakistan government of destroying all the institutions in the country and gave an ‘explanation’ denying any wrongdoing in Al-Qadir case, Toshakhana case and land scam.

He claimed that the cheque payments in the alleged land scam were done after Khan was removed as the Prime Minister after losing the majority.

“They have filed an anti-corruption case on Bushra Bibi alleging that a road was constructed in her village. They have also filed the case on me and my sister. These ‘duffers’ say that as PM I got them lands worth of 6 million PKR at cheaper rates. But, look at the cheque numbers. The first cheque was given on April 25, 2022. The other cheque is on June 2. And I was not the PM since April 9,” he said.

The PTI Chairman further said that in the Al-Qadir case, not a penny could have gone to Imran Khan or Bushra Bibi as they happen to be the trustees of the charitable trust.

“In the Al-Qadir case, the cabinet received a proposal that if a case between a Malik Riaz family and a UK’s National Crime Agency is settled and kept confidential from the cabinet, 190 million pounds will come to Pakistan. But if it is not kept confidential, then Pakistan will have to prove its stand in the court. The case would have gone for 5-6 years, and we (Pakistan) have a very bad record in foreign cases, and have already lost cases over 100 million USD,” he said.

Imran Khan added, “If they are alleging money laundering here, what is stopping them? The money has come to Pakistan. It was a unanimous decision passed by the cabinet. They are also accusing that I did that to benefit the Al-Qadir university which is a charitable trust. But, in a charitable trust, not a penny can go to the trustees which includes me and Bushra begum”.

The Al-Qadir Trust case alleges that the PTI chief and his wife, Bushra Bibi, obtained billions of rupees and land worth hundreds of kanals from a real estate firm for legalising PKR 50 billion that was identified and returned to the country by the UK during the previous PTI government, as per The News International report.

He also claimed that the Toshakhana gifts were sold “as per the rules” and everything has been declared in FDR.

“As per the law, when PM, President, Army Chief receives gifts, it goes to Toshakhana, where it is valued. It is done through an FDR, with an initial value and then an appraisal. If there are any excess value, they give the option of purchasing. This is the rule. Under this I took many gifts and refused others. Whatever I sold, is declared in FBR and is under capital gains tax. What is wrong here? Also, under this case, NAB, Election Commission and FIR is also filed. It is just not possible that three cases are being run on the same issue,” he further alleged.

The case pertains to the allegations that the former PM “deliberately concealed” details of the gifts he retained from the Toshaskhana — a repository where presents handed to government officials from foreign officials are kept — during his time as the prime minister and proceeds from their reported sales. Days after joining the BJP-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra, state Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will shortly inaugurate a new Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) party office near Mantralaya in Mumbai on Tuesday. Ajit Pawar had claimed that the entire NCP was on his side.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ajit Pawar group leader Praful Patel on Monday in a joint conference announced that Lok Sabha MP Sunil Tatkare has been appointed as the new State President of the party in Maharashtra.
During a joint conference, the NCP leader Patel announced, “We are relieving Jayant Patil of his responsibilities and in his place, I am appointing Sunil Tatkare as Maharashtra President of Nationalist Congress Party. Sunil Tatkare will have the authority to make organizational changes in the party.”

He further said that Ajit Pawar has been unanimously elected as the leader of the legislature party.

“Ajit Pawar has been unanimously elected as the leader of the legislature party. We have informed Maharashtra Assembly Speaker about our decision. Anil Bhaidas Patil has been appointed as the chief whip of NCP in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. We request him (Sharad Pawar) with folded hands to give us his blessings as he is our guru”, Patel had said.

During the press briefing, the newly elected party state president Sunil Tatkare said he will strengthen the party in Maharashtra.

“I have taken over as the State president of the Nationalist Congress Party. I will strengthen the party in Maharashtra. I have taken into confidence all leaders of the party. I have also called a meeting of all the legislators and zila parishad leaders”, Sunil Tatkare had said.

Maharashtra politics will be interesting to watch in the coming days, as NCP chief Sharad Pawar has called a meeting on July 5 in Mumbai in which all MPs and MLAs are asked to remain present. Ajit Pawar has also called a meeting on the same day at another venue, and he has also called all NCP leaders, including all MLAs, and MLCs. The interesting thing is what Ajit Pawar and his supporting MLAs will do. (ANI)

India To Virtually Host SCO Summit Today

India is all set to virtually host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit today. The summit will witness the participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The meeting of the SCO Heads of State will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The major issues that are expected to be on the agenda include terrorism, regional security and prosperity.
The theme of India’s chairship of SCO- SECURE is derived from the acronym coined by PM Modi at the 2018 SCO Qingdao Summit.

It stands for S: Security, E: Economic development, C: Connectivity, U: Unity, R: Respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, E: Environmental protection.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will also participate in the summit this week. This comes at a time when the Russia-Ukraine war has completed over a war. India has condemned the war but has not voted against Russia at any forum.

Speaking to President Putin on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Uzbekistan last year, PM Modi said, “This is not the era of war”, a statement that even made to the G20 communique under the Indian presidency.

Earlier on June 30, PM Modi held a telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation including Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and G20.

All the SCO Member States, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, have been invited to attend the Summit.

In addition, Iran, Belarus and Mongolia have been invited as Observer States. As per the SCO tradition, Turkmenistan has also been invited as the guest of the Chair. Heads of the two SCO Bodies, the Secretariat and the SCO RATS, will also be present.

One of the major highlights of the summit, Pakistan and China have expressed their willingness to participate in the summit. Pakistan which has been isolated globally for harbouring terrorists, is set to attend the summit.

With Chinese aggression in 2020 at Galwan, there has been an ongoing stand-off and amassing of troops in large numbers at Indian positions on the LAC in eastern Ladakh. The Indian side has also deployed a heavy number of troops and developed infrastructure at a very fast pace for them.

PM Modi ahead of his visit to the US said that for “normal bilateral ties” with China “peace and tranquillity in the border areas is essential,” the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported.

“We have a core belief in respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, observing the rule of law and peaceful resolution of differences and disputes. At the same time, India is fully prepared and committed to protecting its sovereignty and dignity,” PM Modi said in his interview to the US publication.

Jinping, who will attend the virtual summit of the SCO being hosted by India, will deliver important remarks at the meeting and along with other leaders chart the course for the future growth of the organization, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said in a statement.

Shehbaz Sharif will also participate in the SCO meeting. The invitation to the Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif was extended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

The participation of the two leaders comes at a time when China blocked a proposal by India and the United States at the United Nations to designate Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Sajid Mir, wanted for his involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks, as a global terrorist, which also drew stern criticism from New Delhi.

India joined the SCO in 2005 as an observer country and became a full member of the group at the Astana Summit in 2017, marking a watershed point in its relationship with the Organisation.

In the last six years, India has taken an active and positive role in all SCO operations.

At the SCO Summit in Samarkand in September 2022, India took over the chairmanship of the SCO for the first time from Uzbekistan.

During India’s presidency, the SCO has reached new milestones in the depth and intensity of its engagements and interactions across wide-ranging sectors.

India created five new pillars and focus areas of cooperation in SCO, Startups and Innovation, Traditional Medicine, Digital Inclusion, Youth Empowerment and Shared Buddhist Heritage.

Two new mechanisms in SCO, Special Working Group on Startups and Innovation and Experts Working Group on Traditional Medicine, were created at India’s initiative. (ANI)

Canadian Envoy Summoned Over Khalistani’s Threatening Indian Diplomats

India has summoned Canadian High Commissioner in New Delhi over propaganda material, including posters, containing threats to Indian diplomats being circulated in Canada and has served a demarche to the Justin Trudeau government.

According to sources, India on Monday raised concerns over threats to its diplomats in posters being circulated in Canada with information on a pro-Khalistan rally to be held on July 8. The posters contained threats to the Indian ambassador to Canada and the consulate general in Toronto.
The posters purportedly circulated by Sikh extremists have named Indian High Commissioner to Canada Sanjay Kumar Verma and the Consulate General of India, Toronto, Apoorva Srivastava accusing them of playing a role in the June killing of Khalistan Tiger Force chief and designated terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.

The rally is being held in the name of Harjit Singh Nijjar aka Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist who was killed in a targeted shooting in Canada’s Surrey on June 18.

Earlier today, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said that her country is in close contact with Indian officials in light of some “unacceptable” posters that have appeared in Canada, regarding a protest planned for July 8, which bears the names and photos of some top Indian diplomats.

In her statement shared on Twitter, Melanie Joly stated, “Canada takes its obligations under the Vienna Conventions regarding the safety of diplomats very seriously. Canada remains in close contact with Indian officials in light of some of the promotional material circulating online regarding a protest planned for July 8th, which are unacceptable. We know that the actions of a few do not speak for an entire community or Canada.”

On Monday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme in Delhi, said that India has requested partner countries like Canada, the UK, and Australia not to give space to Khalistanis as these radical extremist ideologies are not good for their relationship.

When asked about reports of posters in Canada naming Indian diplomats, Jaishankar said, “We have requested our partner countries, like Canada, UK, Australia, US that they should not give space to these Khalistanis. These radical extremist ideologies aren’t good for us, them, or our ties. Will raise the issue of these posters.”

Earlier this month, a tableau parade was organised in Ontario celebrating the assassination of former PM Indira Gandhi, which drew severe criticism from New Delhi.
