Chiranjeevi Announces Fantasy Entertainer ‘Mega 157’ On His Birthday

On megastar Chiranjeevi’s birthday, the makers of his upcoming release ‘‘Mega 157’ wished the actor by formally announcing the fantasy entertainer.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, director Vassishta thanked the megastar for giving him a chance and shared the poster of the film to mark the day.

He wrote, “My heartfelt thanks to the MIGHTY MEGASTAR @KChiruTweets garu for believing me and giving me the chance to present you on BIG screens Wishing the BOSS of Masses a very happy birthday! Here’s the concept poster of #MEGA157 – MEGA MASS BEYOND UNIVERSE More details soon!”

The announcement poster has panchabhutas (five elements of nature) — Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Sky — encompassed in an object that has a star-shaped element with a trident in it. It’s perceptible through this amazing poster that we are going to witness something we couldn’t even imagine.

The fantasy flick, which is the first of its kind signed by the megastar after a long while, will be directed by Vassishta, who made his directorial debut with ‘Bimbisara’.

Fans are curious to see Chiranjeevi in another fantasy entertainer like ‘Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari’, which is counted as one of the evergreen classics in the Telugu film industry.

‘Mega 157’ is to be shot on a massive scale by V Vamsi Krishna Reddy, Pramod Uppalapati, and Vikram Reddy under the banner of UV Creations. (ANI)

Amazon Oil drilling

Ecuadorians Vote To Ban Oil Drilling In Amazon

The Yasun National Park in the Amazon rainforest is one of the most biodiverse areas on Earth. According to CNN, Ecuadorians have decided to forbid oil extraction there.

According to the National Electoral Council of Ecuador (CNE), approximately 59 per cent of voters on Monday morning opposed the oil drilling while 41 per cent supported it after more than 92 per cent of the ballots had been tabulated.

As the globe continues to use fossil fuels, the effects of human-caused climate change are becoming more severe. The Earth saw the hottest June on record last month, and according to CNN, some scientists are concerned that the Amazon is nearing a catastrophic tipping point.

The Yasuní National Park park spans around 1 million hectares (2.5 million acres) at the meeting point of the Amazon, the Andes and the Equator. Just one hectare of Yasuní land supposedly contains more animal species than the whole of Europe and more tree species than exist in all of North America, CNN reported.

But underneath the park lies Ecuador’s largest reserve of crude oil.

In 2007, President Rafael Correa proposed that the international community give Ecuador USD 3.6 billion to leave Yasuní undisturbed. But the plan failed.

In 2016, the Ecuadorian state oil company began drilling in Block 43, around 0.01 per cent of the National Park, which today produces more than 55,000 barrels a day, amounting to around 12 per cent of Ecuador’s oil production, CNN reported.

Yasunidos, an environmental collective, has been pushing for the vote to ban drilling in the park for a decade. In May they and other groups secured a victory when the country’s constitutional court authorized the vote to be included on the ballot of the presidential election held on August 20.

Some politicians, including energy minister Fernando Santos, have argued that a ban would have negative impacts on Ecuador’s economy.

Environmental and Indigenous groups argued that Ecuador needs to move away from fossil fuels and protect the Amazon, saying that other economic activities such as eco-tourism could help fill the gap.

In a post on X (the platform formerly knowEcuadorn as Twitter), Yasunidos called the result “a historic victory for Ecuador and for the planet!”

Mitch Anderson, executive director of the non-profit Amazon Frontlines, said in a statement, “In one fell swoop, the Ecuadorian people struck a mighty blow to the oil industry, protected one of the most biodiverse forests in the Amazon, and showed the world what grassroots climate action really looks like.”

The referendum took place alongside the presidential and legislative elections on Sunday, CNN reported.

Luisa González, of the Movimiento Revolución Ciudadana party, took the lead in the first round of the elections, which have been marred by political assassinations and violence driven by criminal organizations vying to control the country’s drug trafficking routes.

González will face second-place finisher Daniel Noboa in a run-off election in October as no candidate won more than 50 per cent of the ballot. (ANI)

Actor Prakash Raj Chandrayaan 3

Prakash Raj Booked For Mocking ‘Chandrayaan-3’

Actor Prakash Raj has been booked in a police station of Karnataka’s Bagalkot district over a social media post, in which he allegedly mocked India’s ambitious third lunar mission– Chandrayaan-3, police said on Tuesday.

“A complaint has been filed against actor Prakash Raj for his post on the Chandrayaan-3 mission,” police said.

“Hindu organisations leaders filed a complaint against the actor in Banahatti police station of Bagalkote district and have demanded action,” they added.

The veteran actor on Sunday took to microblogging site X, sharing a caricature of a man in a shirt and lungi pouring tea.

Sharing the picture, he wrote, “First view just arrived from Chandrayaan .. #VikramLander #justasking.”

Prakash Raj has been facing heavy backlash since then with people saying that the Chandrayaan-3 mission is linked to the country’s pride.

Faced with social media outrage Prakash Raj clarified on X that his comments were only intended as a joke. “Hate sees only Hate…I was referring to a joke of #Armstrong times celebrating our kerala Chaiwala-which Chaiwala did the Trolls see? if you dont get a joke then the joke is on you..GROW UP #justasking” he posted.

According to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the Chandrayaan-3 is set to land on the moon on August 23, around 18:04 hours IST.

Live action will be available on the ISRO website, its YouTube channel, Facebook, and public broadcaster DD National TV from 17:27 IST on Aug 23, 2023.

India will be the fourth country in the world to achieve this feat after the United States, Russia, and China, but India will be the only country in the world to land on the lunar south pole.

The primary objectives of Chandrayaan-3 mission are threefold — to demonstrate safe and soft landing on lunar surface; to demonstrate rover roving on the moon, and to conduct in-situ scientific experiments.

Chandrayaan-3’s development phase commenced in January 2020 with the launch planned sometime in 2021. However, the Covid-19 pandemic brought an unforeseen delay to the mission’s progress.

Chandrayaan-3 mission was launched on July 14, 2023 via the GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota at 2:35 PM. (ANI)

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar

K’taka Govt To Form New State Education Policy Scrapping NEP 2020

After meeting with representatives of different educational institutions and officials in Bengaluru on Monday, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that the state government will form a new education policy scrapping the National Education Policy, 2020.

“We had serious discussions about the education policy and the meeting was attended by representatives from various educational institutions and other officials. We have decided in our manifesto to discontinue the NEP 2020,” DK Shivakumar said.

He further said that states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala have already scrapped the policy adding that the government will constitute a new committee to work on a new education policy for the state.

“Karnataka has good Human Resources and it’s a knowledge hub. We have our own system of quality education system. So we are scrapping the National Education Policy. We don’t want any Nagpur education policy. We are forming a new committee within a week and they will look into it,” the Deputy CM added.

Earlier in a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), DK Shivakumar claimed that the education system in Karnataka is a “model for the country.”

“The education system in Karnataka is a model for the country. That is why Bangalore is the IT capital today. So many people in the state are in good positions abroad, because of our education system”, the Deputy CM shared on X.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah earlier last week said that the NEP will be cancelled from the next academic year in the state.

He said that the NEP implemented by the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government will be completely cancelled from the next academic year.

“NEP has to be abolished after making some necessary preparations. The academic year had begun by the time the election results were out and the government was formed… NEP has been continued this year to avoid inconvenience to the students in the middle of the year,” the CM said.

NEP has been opposed by students, parents and lecturers, and teachers simultaneously, he added.

Earlier in July this year, Karnataka primary education Minister Madhu Bangarappa said that the state education department has decided not to adopt the NEP but instead will implement the State Education Policy (SEP).

It may be noted that NEP 2020 launched in July 2020 provides a set of guiding principles for a paradigm shift across the education sector in India from school to doctoral level. (ANI)

Union Home Minister Amit Shah

Cong Stalled Ram Temple Construction, Amit Recalls Kalyan’s contributions

Union Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to people in Uttar Pradesh to vote BJP to all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh in the ensuing 2024 Lok Sabha polls, which he said will be a fitting tribute to the late party stalwart Kalyan Singh.

Addressing a gathering in Aligarh on the second death anniversary of Kalyan Singh, a prominent OBC leader and Chief Minister of the state said, “Let the lotus (BJP’s election symbol) bloom on all the 80 seats in UP in 2024, this will be your true tribute to Babuji.”

The BJP is organising ‘Hindu Gaurav Diwas’ in Aligarh as a mark of respect for the former chief minister whose birthplace is Aligarh and who passed away on August 21 in Lucknow in the year 2021.

Kalyan Singh was chief minister during the time of the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition.

The Union Minister lashed out at the previous Congress regime in the state for stalling and diverting the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya since the time of Independence. However, he said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not delay the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ of the temple.

Shah further said, “Today I have come to pay my homage to a senior BJP leader, a devotee of Ram, a person who pioneered the welfare of the backward.”

Shah said that the late leader had told him that he had achieved his life’s goal the day the foundation stone of the Ram Temple was laid.

“I was in the hospital due to Corona that day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Shri Ram Mandir. That day I called Babu Ji, and he told me that his life’s goal has been fulfilled,” the union minister said in his address.

“Kalyan Singh ‘Babuji’ insisted on three goals. The first was to speed up the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement, the second was the welfare of the poor and the third was the welfare of the backward society without disturbing the social harmony,” Shah said.

“Since Independence, the Congress party was stalling the issue of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, was diverting it, but PM Modi, after the decision of the court on the issue of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, without delay performed the Bhoomi Pujan of Ram Temple,” Shah said.

Lauding the efforts of PM Modi, the union minister said, “Today we are happy that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, in the beginning of 2024, we will get to see Lord Ram sit in his grand temple after 550 years.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, both Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak and BJP state unit chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary were present on the occasion.

Earlier today, Amit Shah took to microblogging app X, to post in Hindi, “For the first time, Kalyan Singh ji started a fear-free and corruption-free governance in Uttar Pradesh. Babuji was a huge banyan tree, under whose canopy the organization flourished in Uttar Pradesh and the BJP reached the masses. His unique contribution to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement cannot be forgotten. Babuji, who dedicated his whole life for the country and countrymen, will always be a source of inspiration for the workers. Hundreds of salutes to him on his death anniversary.” (ANI)

Chandrayaan-3

If Factors Unfavourable, We Will Postpone Landing To Aug 27: ISRO On Chandrayaan-3

If any factor regarding the lander module appears unfavourable, then the landing will be shifted to August 27, said the Space Applications Centre-ISRO about Chandrayaan-3 on Monday.

Nilesh M Desai, director of Space Applications Centre-ISRO, Ahmedabad said that the decision regarding the landing will be taken based on the health of the lander module and the conditions on the Moon.

“On August 23, two hours before Chandrayaan-3 lands on the Moon, we will decide on whether or not it will be appropriate to land it at that time based on the health of the lander module and the conditions on the Moon. In case, if any factor appears to be not favourable, then we will land the module on the Moon on August 27. No problem should occur and we will be able to land the module on August 23,” Director Desai said.

ISRO Chairman and Secretary Department of Space S Somanath called on the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science and Technology, Atomic Energy and Space Jitendra Singh in New Delhi today and apprised him of the status and readiness of ‘Chandrayaan-3’ for the moon landing scheduled on August 23, 2023.

Chairman ISRO briefed the minister on the health status of Chandrayaan-3 and said that all systems are working perfectly and no contingencies are anticipated on Wednesday.

In the next two days, the health of Chandrayaan-3 will be continuously monitored. The final sequence of landing will be loaded two days ahead and tested out, he said.

During the meeting, Minister Jitendra Singh expressed his confidence in ‘Chandrayaan-3’ making a soft landing this time and hoped that it will script a new history of planetary exploration under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

ISRO said the Chandrayaan-3 is set to land on the moon on August 23, 2023, around 18:04 hours IST.

Live actions will be available on the ISRO website, its YouTube channel, Facebook, and public broadcaster DD National TV from 17:27 IST on Aug 23, 2023.

While the Chandrayaan-2 mission was only “partially successful” since the lander lost contact after a hard landing, the ISRO successfully established two-way communication between the Chandrayaan-3 lander module and the still-orbiting Chandrayaan-2 orbiter. In a significant development, the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter which was already fixed around the moon established a two-way connection with the lander module of Chandrayaan-3 on Monday.

Earlier today, the ISRO shared new images of the lunar far side area captured by the Chandrayaan-3.

India will be the fourth country in the world to achieve this feat after the United States, Russia, and China, but India will be the only country in the world to land on the lunar south pole.

The primary objectives of the Chandrayaan-3 mission are threefold — to demonstrate safe and soft landing on lunar surface; to demonstrate rover roving on the moon, and to conduct in-situ scientific experiments.

Chandrayaan-3’s development phase commenced in January 2020 with the launch planned sometime in 2021. However, the Covid-19 pandemic brought an unforeseen delay to the mission’s progress.

Jitendra Singh recalled that the first in the series of Chandrayaan — namely Chandrayaan-1, is credited for having discovered the presence of water on the surface of the Moon, which was a new revelation for the world and even the premier Space agencies like the USA’s NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) were fascinated by this discovery and used the inputs for their further experiments.

Chandrayaan-3 mission was launched on July 14, 2023, via the GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota at 2:35 PM.

Ahead of the much-awaited soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole of the Moon, former director of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and in-charge of the previous lunar mission ‘Chandrayaan-2’, K Sivan earlier today said that the mission will be a “grand success”.

“It’s a very anxious moment…I’m sure that this time it will be a grand success,” Sivan said while speaking to ANI.

“We have our own system and we will be establishing a soft landing without any problem. But it is a complex process,” he said while responding to a question asked whether there would be any impact after the failure of Russia’s Luna-25 mission. Russia’s moon mission failed after its Luna-25 spacecraft spun out of control and smashed into the moon on Sunday.

He said that corrective measures have been taken after going through data generated by the Chandrayaan-2 mission. When asked if those additional systems too were indigenous, Sivan said, “Everything is indigenous.”

Earlier today, ISRO released images of the lunar far side area captured by the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LHDAC). This camera assists in locating a safe landing area — without boulders or deep trenches — during the descent.

Notably, the ‘Vikram’ lander module of the spacecraft successfully separated from the propulsion module recently, and subsequently underwent crucial deboosting manoeuvres and descended to a slightly lower orbit. The Chandrayaan-3 mission’s lander is named after Vikram Sarabhai (1919–1971), who is widely regarded as the father of the Indian space program.

A GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle was used for the launch of the spacecraft that was placed in the lunar orbit on August 5 and since then it has been through a series of orbital manoeuvres been lowered closer to the moon’s surface.

It has been a month and seven days since the Indian Space Research Organisation launched the Chandrayaan-3 mission on July 14. The spacecraft was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota.

The stated objectives of Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar mission, are safe and soft landing, rover roving on the moon’s surface, and in-situ scientific experiments.

The approved cost of Chandrayaan-3 is Rs 250 crores (excluding launch vehicle cost).

Chandrayaan-3’s development phase commenced in January 2020 with the launch planned sometime in 2021. However, the Covid-19 pandemic brought an unforeseen delay to the mission’s progress.

The key scientific outcomes from Chandrayaan-2 include the first-ever global map for lunar sodium, enhancing knowledge on crater size distribution, unambiguous detection of lunar surface water ice with IIRS instrument, and more. (ANI)

‘Nuh Violence Follows A Pattern Devised By Fascist Forces’

Satya Veer Singh, who was was part of a fact-finding team which visited Nuh post-July 31 violence, says the recent anti-minority aggression in Haryana had been in the making for some time. His views:

My first reaction after witnessing the violence at Nuh and Gurgaon was that the efforts put by the fascist brigade to flare up communal violence since they came to power in the state, have ultimately bore fruit. No one could, in fact, fail to notice that this was going to happen. It was shocking but not surprising at all.

The violence at Nuh reveals the pattern of stoking violence to further their sinister agenda. No one can fail to notice the obvious State support or connivance.

Spot a place where the minority Muslim community is in majority as a potential target that can be attacked to polarize the society on communal lines. Build a false narrative that this is a crime hub, having connections with ISI, Pakistan. Unleash high-decibel false propaganda, using the sold-out section of the media to force the falsehood into mass conscience, exactly as Goebbels did in Nazi Germany. Choose a Hindu festival and let loose the pampered goons, disguising as cow vigilantes like Monu Manesar or Bittu Bajrangi, to carry on relentless provocation, until the minority community runs out of patience.

Then enters the most dreaded arm of State terror — in the form of ‘bulldozers’. Over 1,000 shanties of hawkers have been destroyed by the BJP-led Haryana government in Nuh till the Chandigarh High Court order came to the rescue of the destitute. No less than the home minister of Haryana dropped a comment, “Monu Manesar was just asking the devotees to go for a Brij Mandal Yatra; he was not instigating the violence!”

It seems as if he was guiding the police not to go after the perpetrators. A senior citizens’ team of the fascists, then, took over the baton to organize mahapanchayats in support of the culprits. Their team of advocates thereby thronged the courts to protect the foot-soldiers, and the vicious circle, thereby, goes on.

Singh (inset) has decried the bulldozer action on the hapless Nuh residents

However, the people’s reaction to this gory spectacle of the Nuh violence, was, indeed, pleasantly surprising. Not a single person to whom we spoke to, was under any confusion that the violence has anything to do with the ‘Hindus are in danger’ propaganda. The strong bond between Muslims and Hindus is still intact. That is the reason that more and more sections of the Hindu community supported the Muslim Meo community.

The Dalit community, Jats, Gujjars, section of Yadavs and farmers joined the sizable and growing section of secular masses not only to condemn the Hindutva goons but even challenged them openly to dare touch the Muslims. This has turned the tables and frustrated the shrieking, fanatic, Hindutva sections for the first time. This is really heartening and shows the way ahead. Challenging them collectively, with determination, will thwart their heinous agenda and establish peace.

ALSO READ: ‘BJP Is In Panic Mode After INDIA Alliance Is Formed’

The worst sufferers are the daily wage-earners, and the poor hawkers and vendors who lost their means of livelihood and were chased and arrested by the police, since every FIR has some names. Then, there is the phenomena of ‘and others’. The poor are subjected to the most vulgar forms of ‘otherization’.

The police, administration and state government supported the criminals by not arresting them even after 10 days of the violence. Only after seeing the mood of the people and the writing on the wall did they swing into action and arrested one of the chief perpetrators — Bittu Bajrangi. It was a face-saving exercise, rather than teaching these lumpen elements a lesson.

Everybody except their foot-soldiers and masters know that Monu Manesar is a hardcore criminal masquerading as ‘Gaurakshak’, officially absconding, since he is accused as a mastermind in the lynching case of burning Junaid and Nasir alive. The official bluff is torn apart as he keeps appearing on various channels — ‘live’ — as if he is a ‘celebrity’.

The victims have to cement the bond with the other community and they have to organize to resist peacefully. Their determination not to succumb to arm-twisting is bound to get massive support all around, including from the sane sections of the administration. Massive mass movements have to be organized across the country against these Nazi tactics. Each and every person has to sit up and think about the way he/she can support the movement against this sinister onslaught.

Dark clouds are hovering over the horizon; there is no doubt about that. However, everything is still not lost. We will collectively defeat these lumpen forces, supported and financed by corporate sharks in order to save their dying regime of exploitation. Fascism is capitalism in decay, as Lenin said. The capitalist-imperialist system is now rotten beyond repair. It has to be buried deep to get rid of fascism, the most violent, hateful and conspiratorial system of governance — once and for all.
