Devendra Fadnavis Sanjay Raut

Devendra Is Villain Of Maharashtra’s Politics: Sanjay Raut

Launching a scathing attack on Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut labelled Fadnavis’ urge to relieve him from ministerial duties as a ‘gimmick’ and blamed him for BJP’s abysmal performance in Maharashtra.

He further claimed that the INDIA alliance can also form government in the centre upon arrival of right time.

Speaking about the Devendra Fadnavis resignation request, Raut said, “This is all gimmick which is very common in politics. Even Prime Minister Modi does the drama, sometimes he laughs and in other moments he is sad. Fadnavis is his student, doing the same drama.”

Blaming him for the BJP’s massive defeat in Maharashtra, he said, “Devendra Fadnavis is the villain of Maharashtra’s politics and the public of the state has denied his leadership. He is responsible for running the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) and the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state.

“Maharashtra has always been the state advocating for clean and diplomatic politics but Fadnavis brought cheap tactics and a culture of deceit which is the reason behind their defeat, he added.”

He further expressed his feelings on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and said, “I have a major feeling that some people are trying to sideline Yogi Ji. We have always respected Baba Ji but it is a matter of his party.”

On speculations of RSS supporting the future NDA government, Raut asserted, “I don’t feel RSS will support Modi-Shah government, as they have been side-lining RSS since their rule.”

On questions of RSS seeking Nitin Gadkari or Ranjath Singh as an alternative, Raut iterated, “Wait and watch! I won’t say that the picture is yet not finished, instead, I’ll say the picture has just been initiated and there are a lot of things that will take place.”

Tackling the question of sitting as opposition, Raut mentioned, “This time public has mandated us to remove Modi Ji from the post of PM and establish INDIA alliance’s government. We will take the necessary actions into this matter when we’ll the right time has arrived.”

He further added, “Modi Ji’s government will not get re-established and somehow if it happens, then it won’t last for long.”

He also presented his views on the seat-sharing arrangements of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance in the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra.

Addressing the media persons about the INDIA alliance and Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, Raut said, “Don’t you think Shiv Sena (UBT) has played a major role in the increase of Congress’ votes? Not just Congress, but also Sharad Pawar’s NCP(SP).

“The increase in vote share of Congress and NCP (SP) was only possible due to the efforts of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Uddhav Thackeray. Would anyone have got seats if Shiv Sena (UBT) and Uddhav Thackeray hadn’t actively prepared and campaigned over the state? We have actively campaigned, especially in Baramati, Vidarbha and Ramtek. I myself have taken six rallies in Baramati.”

“There will be no dissonance in Maha Vikas Aghadi in terms of seat sharing in upcoming assembly elections and together we will work strongly to defeat Modi,” he added.

Baramati is considered a bastion of the Pawar family. In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Supriya Sule of NCP Sharad Pawar faction emerged victorious from this seat with a margin of 1,58,333 votes by defeating Sunetra Pawar of the NCP Ajit Pawar faction.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Sanjay Raut, the Shiv Sena leader from Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction, in a press conference, praised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and conveyed the party’s thoughts on the prospects of Rahul Gandhi’s Prime Ministership.

In a press conference, on the questions of Rahul Gandhi’s prospects of becoming Prime Minister, the Shiv Sena UBT leader said, “If Rahul Gandhi is ready to accept the leadership, why would we object? He has proven himself as a national leader for multiple times. He is one of the popular leaders. We all want him and love him. There is no objection and difference in the alliance.”

In Maharashtra, the BJP-led NDA alliance has only secured 17 seats while the INDIA alliance has secured a major 30 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

The counting of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth winning 99 seats. The INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions. (ANI)

Pro-Khalistan slogans Golden Temple

Pro-Khalistan Slogans Raised At Golden Temple On Operation Blue Star Anniv

Pro-Khalistan slogans were raised by several people from the Sikh community at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on the 40th anniversary of Operation Blue Star on Thursday.

Protestors were carrying the posters of slain separatist leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Mann was also seen among the people raising slogans and displaying posters of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale at the Golden Temple premises.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up around the Golden Temple.

“Security arrangements have been made here. Forces have been deployed and barricading has been done. Any untoward incident will be monitored,” said Senior Superintendent of Police SS Randhawa Singh.

Bhindranwale was the head of the radical Sikh outfit Damdami Taksal. He along with his armed followers was killed during Operation Blue Star launched by the Indian Army to flush out the militants from the Golden Temple complex in June 1984.

June 6, 1984, marked the day when the Indian Army, under Operation Blue Star, stormed into the Golden Temple on orders of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to contain Sikh militancy under the leadership of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in Punjab. It was reported that Bhindranwale had stashed large quantities of arms on the Golden Temple premises.

The Operation was heavily criticised. Months later, Indira Gandhi was assassinated by two of her Sikh bodyguards at her New Delhi residence on October 31, 1984.

Beant Singh and Satwant Singh were Indira Gandhi’s bodyguards and killed her on October 31, 1984, at her residence.

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa, son of Beant Singh (one of Indira Gandhi’s bodyguards) registered victory from the Faridkot constituency with a margin of 70,053 votes over Aam Aadmi Party leader Karamjit Singh Anmol.

Earlier, Lt Gen (retd) Kuldeep Singh Brar who led the 1984 Operation Bluestar to flush out extremists from the Golden Temple said that Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had “allowed” militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale to grow into a sort of Frankenstein monster and decided to “finish him off” when he reached the pinnacle.

The retired 1971 war veteran, Lt Gen (retd) Brar in an interview with ANI said, “No one wants an operation, but what do you do? Indira Gandhi allowed him to become Frankenstein. You could see every year what was happening. But when he reached the pinnacle, now finish him off, now destroy him. It’s too late.”

He claimed that the then-political leadership had allowed the Bhindranwale cult to flourish.

“They had their own little problem support between Akali and Congress. They allowed this cult of Bhindranwale to continue,” the retired army officer had said. (ANI)

Make Politics Safe for Women

‘Make Politics Safe for Women by Purging Undesirable Elements’

Madhu Sen, a writer with interest in social issues, art and culture, says the Swati Maliwal assault case should act as an eye-opener for Indian politicians. Her views:

The recent fracas at Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence between former Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha nominee of the Aaam Aadmi Party and Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav Kumar, sent shock waves throughout the country at the blatant outrage of a woman’s modesty. Even as a slug fest was let loose between political parties, some at hair splitting trying to downplay the sordid event, the scary fact remains that even a women of high office and a crusader of women’s cause is not safe at a place which unquestionably should be the safest considering it is the residence of a leader, who has pledged to be the custodian of the safety and security of the weak, poor, needy and the women.

It does not need Sherlock Holmes to solve the mystery that when the din of the unfortunate altercation and scuffle that occurred at a high decibel, is audible to every corner of the house. Yet, no help came. Even as it has a political angle to it, the moot question is “Does any place exist where women can be absolutely safe?” Such misbehaviour with women in politics is increasing frighteningly. The gross misdemeanour by Congress party colleagues with Radhika Khera, is a recent incidence. Why is a fair background check not done for political candidates? Today, technology can be used to keep track of individual profiles and sifted to weed out rouge elements.

It dismays every right thinking citizen as to why women are being subjected to physical abuse, torture, rape and even murdered in the age group ranging from an infant to even senior citizens when all these years the political parties have been crying hoarse on the atrocities against women promising to make society a safer place for women anywhere and anytime of the day? When a Nirbhaya happens or a Sandeshkhali is unearthed, the nation sits up, cries foul, rallies for justice and stringent punishment for the perpetrators and the event dies a natural death for lack of political and administrative will, the advocates of injustice against women lose steam, and slowly the incidence dims into background as some other important news makes the headlines attracting everyone’s focus. The candle marches disperse disappearing in the crowd and the candle burns out. The voice seeking justice gets weaker and eventually dies out. The perpetrators of crime roam freely and brazenly. It’s a vicious cycle that the society is trapped in.

To make matters worse for the victim, cases are hushed up by flexing muscle or money power, and even political reach. Vested political interests and social dynamics including traditional beliefs have made women inconsequential, vulnerable. Even as the polls kick-started, the expose of over 3000 women being subjected to molestation, rape and then filmed by Prajwal Revanna and his cohorts shook Karnataka and the country while its heat was felt across political corridors. An elected MP from the Hassan Constituency is the grandson of former Prime Minister of India, H.D. Deve Gowda and son of H.D. Revanna, a senior politician of the state. Power can be heady and it corrupts. Again, the travel to Germany by Prajwal seems well-timed favouring the guilty of a heinous crime escape from being arrested. Again, the question arises – when the shady activities of Prajwal were going on for years, why were the political masters silent while his opponents were collecting indiscriminating evidence to nail him at an opportune time?

ALSO READ: ‘Women Safety in UP Has Noticeably Improved’

In the wake of all what occurred surprisingly he escaped the security net. Now with issuance of a lookout notice, his deportation and final arrest is eagerly awaited. Is the government dragging its feet on the case because of high-profile people’s involvement in abetting of the crime? Such news comes to the limelight, but the hundreds of poor, Dalit, tribal and Adivasi women are succumbing to the nefarious attacks with appalling frequency with no sympathy whatsoever from any quarter.

It’s a day too late, but it is required that such cases be tried in special fast track courts, and the punishment readout within 6 months from the occurrence of the crime. Public figures such as politicians must be barred for life from contesting elections. The police have to be taught soft skills and interpersonal skills to deal with sympathetic and sensitive cases. Use of technology to guard the localities against such predators, meaning more CCTV or probably drones can be used for computing the information and be agile in responding to distress calls. Sessions by counsellors can effectively alter the victims’ despondency.

Most importantly, it is the acceptance of such offenders by the society, which has a short memory that is a serious concern. In fact, repeated offenders must be dealt harsh punishment acting as deterrence to the rest of the trouble-makers. Lastly, political determination and fool-proof administrative measures are needed for policing localities, cities, which can scale down atrocities against women drastically. Make sure that you can understand distress signals and act swiftly to nab the culprit. A male child, like adolescent girls, must be questioned about their whereabouts and constantly monitored to nurture them as responsible individuals who treat women with respect and as equals.
